I had a break between clients so a coworker and I decided to come to Simones for a bit. There was an older gentleman behind the counter that had greeted me while the cashier set up the cash register. She also greeted me after she finished and was ready to take my order. I got a cheddar bagel with cream cheese. They asked if I wanted the bagel toasted which I said yes. Stopped here on our drive home from Pismo Beach to Las Vegas for a much needed Matcha pick-me-up. The cafe is SUPER cute inside with a variety of seating options and nice décor. They have some cute little items for sale like decorative items for your home, which I liked. We were there later in the day and they still had quite a few pastries available. I grabbed a chocolate chip scone & maple pecan butterscotch scone - both delicious for breakfast the next day. For my drink, I opted for a large iced brown sugar matcha with oatmilk - something on their special Spring menu. I'm obsessed with all things matcha and have a cabinet full of matcha at home, so I feel like I know good quality when I come across it. The matcha here was just okay. It was kind of gritty which tells me they're not properly whisking the matcha. Flavor was lacking a tiny bit too, but it was mostly enjoyable. Service was not friendly at all. The girl taking my order seemed irritated to be working and the guy who brought my drink out also seemed miserable. For the 5 mins I sat there waiting on my drink, I didn't see a single employee smile, greet customers, or thank them as they left. Cute place, but customer service needs a big makeover. read more

Second time coming to Simones and I got the Arugula & Avocado toast $13. kind of pricey and a large iced coffee $7. First off avocado toast was good maybe because I love Arugula and cherry tomatoes and feta and vinaigrette drizzle lol. Worth the price? Maybe..put it on a crunchy sourdough toast so its not so soggy then yes worth the price. Second, my iced coffee with soy was good but had better. Weird thing is they dont have the straws out, the sugar out and basically the condiments out for their customers to just get themselves and you have to ask. Their so busy and I have to catch one of them to just ask for a straw or stevia! Finally it is extremely hot inside so if your looking for a study spot...great as they have ample outlets but damn their air conditioning does not work. I had to buy a fan at dollar tree! read more

Wow. This place is the real deal! My first impression was that it was nicely decorated, clean, and kind baristas. I am gluten free and they have gf friendly food (cinnamon roll, granola, etc.) the coffee... SO GOOD! You can tell they build their iced drinks correctly. What I loved most was the quality of their ingredients. The milk and coffee beans are locally sourced (I believe I read correctly) and taste top notch. Their granola is homemade, berries were fresh and the creamiest, plain yogurt (I believe also locally sourced.) 10/10 recommend, my new favorite shop! ....also they have free 2 hr WiFi :) read more

I don't know what took me so long to come to Simones. I recently visited and very much enjoyed the whole experience. Super cute and clean shop, great variety in food and drink selections. Staff were super nice and friendly. We tried their holiday menu drinks; Mexican mocha, peppermint bianco, and eggnog latte. We also tried their garden bagel and their plain cheese bagel with cream cheese. I had visited their location by the hospital and didn't think much of it but this location felt different for sure. Definitely enjoyed it and will be back. read more

I don't drink coffee but I've tried several drinks at Simone's before! Starting off with the pluses, I absolutely love their vanilla protein shake. It is probably one of the better protein shakes I've tasted. Their service is usually pretty friendly too. I have tried their matcha and I personally don't love it. They have a large selection for food otherwise and I do love a good bagel in the morning and theirs are GOOD. I've tried studying at this Simone's location but it never works in my favor as my laptop dies quickly and they don't have outlets to plug in chargers. I love that Simone's is so close to where I live and I'll keep coming back for those protein shakes! read more

I have been in the east end of Ventura more frequently recently because of the schedule and location for my kid's sports. Sometimes, this schedule requires me to be on the field very early and under caffeniated for such a wake-up call on the weekends, no less. So let me tell you that I was super excited to find out that Simones had opened up again! They are 5 minutes away from both fields that I go to. But, okay, let's get into what I tried on Sunday. I arrived, and the place was very welcoming from the esthetic to the warm employees who greeted me as I came in. There are plenty of tables to sit. They also have a boutique area where they sell some gifts. It was decor, candles, games for kids, personal items and other seasonal items, and Simones merch. The menu is very extensive, but I concentrated on what they were offering for the season. I immediately was drawn to Cafe Bombon. I asked Julia if she could explain the drink to me. She was very kind and enthusiastically shared that this was a delicious latte that was sweetened with condensed milk and had cinnamon added. She said it was well balanced and not overly sweet. I was already sold before just by the name, but her description sealed it for me. I also ordered the Avocado Toast with feta cheese and decided to add the hard-boiled egg to it. The egg is an additional cost. Overall, I have loved visiting Simones. The service and quality have been consistent every time. I have visited both locations. Keep them in mind next time you want a latte. I also love that they are open until 5:30 for that afternoon, Pick me up! Update: The Menu has now changed to their Winter Holiday drinks. They do still have their Pumpkin Creme Latte, Maple Creme Latte, and Toffee Nut Creme Latte from their fall menu. All very delicious options, I like to adjist the sweetness to less sweet and they are perfect. I am currently loving the Cinna Dulce Latte from the new menu. read more

This is a café I'm happy to visit again and again. Whether they are mini-entrées or desserts, the food at Simone's is generously portioned and always satisfying. Their croissants, whether eaten savory or sweet, are lusciously buttery and never too flaky, and their hot mochas are always a source of comfort. My only criticism is that the decor is a little dull in the 21st-century spartan way characteristic of many eateries, with only a few decorations, which I admit are sure to capture the casual interest of children. Simone's is definitely an institution in Ventura. But their quality has gone way down. The last few times I've been the espresso has been burnt or too acidic. To the point where the oat milk I got in my iced latte curdled a little bit, which can happen if the coffee is too acidic. When I last ordered a matcha here it was a pale green color which tells me they probably aren't using good quality matcha. On the plus side the staff is always kind and the food is also very good. My favorite is the strawberry cream muffin. One of the owners also always tends to be around so it's nice to see they are very involved. They also put in the effort for Simone's to look nice. But I can't get past the coffee being subpar. There are other small coffee shops in Ventura who make much better coffee. I know that their volume is high, but I wish they would try to improve the quality. read more

I am a regular at this coffee shop. I love everything I've ordered but especially the Monkey Flip, croissants, and blueberry and apricot scones. If I want something lighter, I order the oatmeal and iced matcha which never disappoints. I get half sweet. All of the baristas are wonderful! Five stars every time! The ambiance is nice. Busy, and small, but friendly and warm. The service is always outstanding, every person working there has a smile on their face, and they listen to the customer and offer suggestions. The food is just ok, the pastries are pretty dang good, but the sandwiches are a little lackluster. The coffee is hit or miss. Some days it's outstanding, some days it's just mediocre. I wish there was a bit more consistency in the drinks. Their specialty menu always seems exciting, but typically when I order those drinks, they lack any kind of special flavor and generally miss the mark. There are other coffee shops that I would choose to get coffee from, but this is conveniently in my neighborhood, so I do come here more often. If for nothing else, I come for the great service and convenience. Hoping they can make some adjustments to flavoring and really become a stand out in specialty coffee drinks. read more

Simones is such a great cafe with a wide variety of drinks, baked goods, and hot foods on the menu! Not to mention that all the employees there are also very nice and helpful. I just wanted a quick bite and drink so I got the jalapeño bagel with cream cheese and the vanilla crème latte. I really enjoyed the vanilla crème latte. I like my coffee on the sweet and creamy side and this really hit the spot. The jalapeño bagel was perfectly toasted and tasted really fresh. They really didn't skimp out on the jalapeño cause it was kind of spicy, but it was a nice kick. Stumbled on Simone's by accident and glad we did. It's a cute coffee shop and they have a lot to offer. My husband doesn't drink coffee so he liked that they offered smoothies. They also have food options besides pastries. I didn't see the food menu until after I was leaving so I am not sure what they have. We got there and they were very sweet letting us look at the menu to decide. Glad we didn't take to long though since after we ordered it started getting busy. They are across the hospital and around doctor offices so I would assume it gets busy from time to time. It looked as if they have limited seating. I ended up getting their golden chai latte. I have had it before at a chain coffee shop. I appreciated the fact that they had what it involves since I never knew. It was really good. I was able to taste the difference between this one and the chain one. Overall, glad we stumbled upon this. It's near our sons pediatrician so we will be going early now to our appointments to stop here now. read more

I always get iced vanilla lattes from the other location and never had a problem. I asked just to get my vanilla latte mixed! I also stated, "if you give me another cup I can just swish it/mix it myself" I was given a shaken iced vanilla latte... (taste completely different) I decided to go back and change my drink. The fact that I PAID almost $8 for a drink and would have to pay for another drink because I did not like/asked for is insane. Employee SIGHED so loud and looked irritated. The vanilla doesn't taste like vanilla and is overly fragrant. I hope they change their syrups as the vanilla is unfortunately a deal breaker for me with the lattes. I have been to the other simones location and I was so impressed just realized they have another location so I wanted to give it a try. I thought it was just OK. Drinks weren't as good. Service was good though. The owner was there. When my husband and I were about to leave and he saw that we didn't finish our drinks and he asked if there was anything wrong and I said it wasn't as good. He offered to make the drinks, he made my husband drink and it was really and it taste like anything but sugar. I believe that there is espresso machine is just really light and they don't even design the cups like other coffee shops to and like the other location does. My experience wasn't Terrible as the owner tried to fix it but it didn't taste good anyways read more

Favorite coffee shop! Every drink I've gotten there has been delicious. They have seasonal drinks that blow the major chains out of the water. The pastries are so good! The biscotti is one of my favorites. They offer a discount on your coffee if you bring your own mug. They have some shopping for home goods/small decor items. Their staff are some of the nicest people I've met! I don't go regularly per se but I was trying to go a few times a month and one particular staff member, who is the one who usually takes my order, remembered my name and my order. For a place as busy as this coffee shop, that's huge in my book. I've never been a "regular" or been asked if I was having my "usual". This coffee shop cares about their customers and their employees. This is where we had a celebration drink after we got the keys to our home and I look forward to my next visit (sooner rather than later)! read more
