Everyone knows of their sister business Smokin Jays but I am here to spread the word on their AM morning breakfast bites and coffee shop. The vibes here are always immaculate. Stepping inside they are always playing the best tunes (a little throwback Post Malone on the speakers at 9am to be exact) and a crew behind the counter that genuinely seems like best friends. The jokes and laughter flying around make this spot feel fun, welcoming, and real. The staffs positive attitudes are contagious, that's for sure. Now let's get into the good stuff....what did I order?: SAUSAGE & BACON BREAKFAST CROISSANT Low key one of the most slept on breakfast sandwiches in the 805. Candied bacon, juicy sausage patty, perfectly cooked egg, melty cheese on a warm buttery croissant. Absolute perfection. 10/10. GET THIS! Pro tip: grab the side of hash browns. The gooey cheese from the sandwich inevitably falls onto those crispy bites and suddenly you're in full food coma heaven. ICED MATCHA W/ STRAWBERRY COLD FOAM If you're a matcha lover, this one hits and it's a bit sweet (no complaints here). It's just good! They've got the brightest pink cold foam in the game, super refreshing, and just really well done. Is it ceremonial grade? I don't think so but sometimes a good matcha with fun foam is just what you needed regardless. WATERMELON MINT REFRESHER Not a coffee person? Their fruit refreshers are dangerously good. The watermelon mint is crisp, will cool you down, and super refreshing (hence the name). Tasty breakfast bites, solid drinks, and a badass crew. Another weekend, another coffee review Potheads definitely did not disappoint! I loved the aesthetic right away--the place has this cool street-style vibe as soon as you walk in. It's actually a BBQ restaurant with a coffee shop inside, so you can grab food and amazing coffee at the same time. The staff was super friendly and greeted us right away, which I always appreciate. We love a welcoming spot Their menu had sooo many options it was hard to pick, so I asked for their recommendations. They suggested the Butter Beer Latte and the Cookie Ice Latte, so of course I grabbed both... and I couldn't leave without my favorite, a sugar-free vanilla oat latte. Every drink was flavorful and unique, but honestly my regular was AMAZING--so creamy and perfect. I'd go back just for that any day! And then... we saw they had beignets How could I say no?! 100/10. They were coated in this sweet glaze and wow... they hit different. I was so sad eating the last one because I wanted more lol. We also tried the banana pudding on the way out. I'm not usually a banana pudding fan, so it wasn't my favorite, but if you like banana desserts you'll probably enjoy it. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking them out for yourself! read more

GETTING HERE: Located on the corner of Wooley and C in Oxnard. ***Note: This is not a coffee truck; it's a stand alone store next to Smokin Jays (they are both inside one building that faces behind Wooley. Turn off C into the very small parking lot in the back). REVIEW: Oh, the wonder of social media! How did I find out about Potheads? Actually, the better question is, "How did I ever survive before Potheads?" I have been there a handful of times in just this this month and I MUST SLOW MY ROLL. But, the drinks are just so fun and so good! I don't drink coffee but have just begun to dip my toe into the world of Matcha. I don't know the ins and outs yet, haha, but Matcha now runs in my veins. Along with the dragon fruit cold foam. :) You can use a delivery service, or they offer mobile ordering too, which is very convenient. Just also note: they aren't able to post-make your drinks. Meaning, if you're going to pick it up at 11:15 AM, keep your order in your cart and then hit submit once you're on your way to the shop. Their egg bites are very good. I haven't had any breakfast sandwiches or their cinnamon rolls (!) but I plan to fix that asap. Service is fine enough. It's beautifully presented, really cute, and I love the variety of flavors, cold foams, syrups, and fun toppings. The drink itself tasted great and had awesome flavor. The only reason for 4 stars is that, as someone who's big on caffeine and lattes, this one was definitely more on the sweet side. It's fun and flavorful, but if you're looking for a strong "pick-me-up," this is not it. Overall though, it was tasty and totally worth a try! Overall, it was good but the cold brew was bitter .. unfortunately. The Strawberry and Chocolate frap lacked flavor. The service was amazing and quick despite the long line. Inside the Smokin' Jays location. Felt so fancy walking in when the server asked "will you be joining us for dinner this evening or just coffee?" They had an afternoon session today which I found on their Instagram, as a longtime patron of Jay's I always wanted to try the matcha. Stopped by for a flip it and reverse it with banana and ube cold foam. It was the most delicious drink I've ever had the privilege of enjoying, three great tastes that taste great together!! The Bun Rolls Oxnard is now at Potheads on Fridays! The Oreo madness roll was sold out, so get there early if you're trying to get one. Instead we got the Golden roll "classic" Cookie butter roll. Both were full of cinnamon and cookie butter flavor with a very soft and chewy texture. It's prepackaged and not served warm, so we made sure to go home and heat it up and it paired great with a glass of milk but I recommend getting the coffee from Potheads but that's if you can stop yourself from finishing it before you get home! read more

I've tried a few different drinks and they're always good. All the people complaining about drinks being too sweet are ridiculous. What do you expect when you buy a coffee called German Chocolate Cake? Obviously it's gonna be sweet. Just order a different coffee at that point. The service is good.
