When I first moved to Ventura a few years ago, I discovered Prospect Coffee Roasters, and it quickly became one of those reliable, feel good spots. West Ventura has no shortage of great coffee options now, but this is still one of my go to places. I love that I can walk in, grab my iced vanilla latte, and be on my way without any fuss. The loyalty points definitely do not hurt either. They always keep me coming back. I am honestly not sure where some of the negative reviews come from. At a certain point, it feels like people are just committed to complaining and cosplaying as coffee critics. Every time I am there, I am greeted, the service is efficient, and the drinks are consistent. I did not realize it was illegal for coworkers to talk to each other. And yes, dogs are not allowed inside. That is basic health department rules and common sense. If you are looking for a cozy neighborhood coffee shop with solid coffee, quick service, and a great loyalty program, Prospect is worth stopping by. Street parking only. Just be mindful not to block driveways.

If you are in downtown Ventura, this is the place to come to for the best espresso drinks. If you are anywhere else in Ventura, this is still the place to come for the best espresso drinks. Prospect Coffee Roasters excels on every level. They use high quality beans. Their espresso is freaking delicious. They've got great cookies and pastries too. That is, of course, if you get there before they're sold out. Customer service is exemplary. The baristas are efficient; it doesn't take long for your drink to be ready, even when it's busy. And it's almost always busy! This place is hella popular. Sometimes it's difficult to find a table, or even a stool at the bar. Even though it's noisy AF when it's busy, I often see people trying to work on laptops. Another great thing about Prospect Coffee Roasters is that they have a customer loyalty program. Your membership is linked to the credit card you pay with, so each subsequent time you pay with that card you earn a point. It's automatic, you don't have to have a stupid little paper card punched or stamped. It doesn't take long to accumulate enough points for a free drink of your choice. I just got my first free drink today. Woohoo! I love Prospect Coffee Roasters, even though it's always a challenge to find parking. I love this place even though I've gotta drive another five minutes past my regular coffee shop to get here. Mikey C says: a cappuccino here is worth it!

If you're looking for coffee in the downtown ventura district, you'll hear the name "prospect" come up. Located a couple blocks from Main, this little shop comes highly recommended. Sadly, the drinks did not meet my expectations. I ordered an iced Strawberry Fields matcha latte, iced Strawberry Fields Latte, and iced Vanilla Latte. I came here after hearing great things about a black sesame matcha but sadly it is a seasonal drink only! :( I tried their seasonal strawberry fields drinks but was disappointed in the flavor. I was expecting a more matcha-y flavor but was instead hit with a lot of cinnamon! Then again, cinnamon syrup is one of the ingredients. I just felt like the cinnamon overpowered the strawberry and the matcha. The same can be said for the latte version. The vanilla latte was not sweet enough so we added some sweetener using the self serve bottle. The staff were nice and helped us out with recommendations. I wouldn't blame them that the drinks weren't to our liking. Inside the shop was cute, modern, and had that beach feel. It would be a great spot to do some work or study.

I don't get the hype on this one! I got the vanilla latte and felt that it was just okay. A little too milky for me and wanted more coffee flavor but was a bit underwhelming. The vanilla was definitely there but I've had better lattes. The interior is nice and spacious and very modern though with good seating options and outlets. The baristas were nice and helpful and quick with my drink. There was also a good amount of street parking for a Sunday afternoon and they weren't too busy. Don't think I'd go back again since it just tasted like a standard latte, nothing too special!

What a perfect coffee shop!! Great ambiance, fantastic lighting, simple interior, friendly service, and great quality. You can feel the community hub in this coffee shop which is always great. I tried the strawberry fields drink w coffee instead of matcha just to try it out and shockingly strawberry goes really well with coffee! I did not think of that until I had this drink highly recommend while it's still on the menu! Also random but I loved the shop layout idk it was so smart and welcoming you're just going to have to see it for urself!

Ordered to-go coffees from here and it was really good. The cafe is cute and the line wasn't too long. I got the iced matcha latte and I thought the drink was good overall, but wished it had a bit of sweetener. Still a pretty solid drink. The staff was friendly and we were in and out of the cafe in less than 30 minutes, which is nice if you are just getting drinks to go.

Nice little spot in a residential area. Coffee and match are really good. Seems like a great spot to study at. Parking: street parking

Prospect Coffee Roasters Parking is street-only and completely full by 10am--at least on this sunny March 28th on the Pacific Coast. Plan ahead or enjoy a morning stroll. Inside, Prospect offers ample seating for laptops, children, and conversations--often all at once. It's a welcoming hub where flavorful chocolate-mocha mashups and unmatched matcha drinks meet the most discerning palates. However, our drinks were lukewarm and lacked the flavor expected. I bought coffee beans, ground them, and my home brew restored my faith in this roaster. The ricotta cake? A buttery, rich, and moist masterpiece. Sweet enough to satisfy, yet sophisticated--elevating it to Michelin status in my personal book. The vibe is elevated even further by the staff, who sing along to the music and trade colorful banter with patrons, adding a joyful hum to the whole experience. A lovely spot, through and through.

Background On Visit: After eating at Immigrant Son Caffe, we decided to make a pit stop before driving back to Los Angeles. Background On Coffee Shop: Prospect Coffee Roasters is a family-owned specialty coffee roasting and retail company started in 2014 by brothers Blake and Derek Ulrich in Ventura, California Mission Statement Of Shop: Our approach to sourcing coffee is straightforward and quality-centric. We seek out coffees that are balanced and showcase noteworthy sweetness and acidity. We source coffees that are well-grown, well-processed, and display cleanliness and clarity of flavor. We primarily purchase coffees from small farms, with traceability in mind. We partner with select importers who pay premiums for coffee and reinvest into the farms and neighboring communities. Our approach to roasting coffee is similar. So much work is done on the front end of the supply chain, from planting, harvesting, sorting, and processing, to exporting the coffees to our shores, it is our goal to honor and respect the work that precedes us. We keep this in mind when developing roast profiles that articulate the inherent characteristics of each particular coffee. Website: You can find out more about the shop on their: -website: https://www.prospectcoffee.com/ -social Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restroom: Available to use. Restrooms: They're available. Ambiance/decor: Neat small coffee shop with modern furnishings There's also couples tables outside of the shop. Drink of Choice: I went with the americano (honduras) since they stopped serving their batch brew later in the day. Coffee was very good and gave me enough of a jolt to drive back. Prospect Coffee Roasters For Thought: I would love to visit again when I'm back in Ventura.

Cute little neighborhood gem! Tucked in a quiet corner of Ventura, this cozy coffee shop has a chill, welcoming vibe. I got an iced matcha latte with shalimar and a regular hot latte with shalimar, (both with coconut sweetener)really tasty! Staff was friendly and service was fast. Plenty of seating inside, plus a few small tables outside. They were still working on their summer specials (even though it's already summer), which was a bummer, and the pastries were sold out when we arrived. Parking is street only, there are restrooms available inside. Still, a great spot to relax or get some work done. Will definitely be back!

I love Prospect coffee. It's truly some of the best in the area. I usually get a cappuccino and don't stay. They don't offer hot breakfast, just a handful of pastries which often sell out. They also sell a variety of beans for take home! Seating is slightly limited as people as working, but there is always a table that will open up. Water station available and a clean bathroom as well. The one thing I can't give a star for is service. The baristas act like you are a nuisance. When I hand them my card or money, they don't even make eye contact. This has happened many times. I've never really understood why there's a need to be so standoffish. It's just coffee. But I will look past this and go there when I'm in the area. Also, please buy a shaker of cinnamon for your store! I've never been to a coffee shop that doesn't have cinnamon available. Besides that, I really enjoy prospect.

absolutely loved our experience here! you walk in and can tell how relaxing of a vibe it is with many different seating options. so simple yet comfortable which we loved. the staff was so warm and friendly offering answers and recommendations. ended up getting the special of "abuela's favorite" one with oat milk and one with whole milk. it was so reasonably priced and was the perfect. amount of sweetness, not too sweet at all and the coffee was very well balanced and flavorful itself. great price for great quality!

Favorite coffee shop in Ventura County - stop by at least once a week. Subsequently, also my favorite place to buy coffee beans to make my own cold brew as well. Delicious coffee with great seasonal menu options. Love their pastries - their brownie and the artichoke pastry are the best. But their pastries go fast. Definitely gets busy with limited tables for the amount of people. Can usually find counter seating, though. Great coffee.
