This seriously addicting coffee shop, which started in Santa Barbara, has been a Ventura favorite for quite some time now, and it's been so fun watching them grow. Nestled in a charming converted cottage, this cozy café is the perfect addition to Downtown Ventura. When I stopped by over the weekend, they were insanely busy so I wasn't able to capture much of the space itself for photos but I can promise you it's a cute spot. We opted for outside table dining and it was lovely. To order you stand in line and then order at the counter, they'll bring the food back to your table, but they will call you up to grab your drinks. We ordered a couple of iced lattes and their famous Bella Rose - iced matcha, which was absolutely gorgeous and just as delicious. 10/10. Their drinks are truly little works of art and always worth ordering. To finish off brunch, we grabbed a couple of bagels. One of my favorites is their toasted bagel with tomato, avocado, and cream cheese, it's simple and so satisfying. Next time I'll be trying one of their fruit bowls. The staff here are absolute rockstars. They crank out drink after drink with a smile on their faces while keeping the atmosphere welcoming and fun. I can vouch for saying that of all the local places I frequent for coffee, this is my go-to staple for what I keep at home and at work. In a pinch I have bought their instant coffee both for myself as well as to gift to others. The flavor is impeccable which I did not believe was possible in an instant coffee beforehand. Although I do prefer their light and medium roasts, when I want to have a thicker bolder flavor I have been known to brew a dark or two. The ethics and the relationships definitely show through in how well this business has been cultivated. If you check out their website, you can literally see the exact story behind each coffee Bean as well as what the deal is with the farm that they use. This is not your average coffee roaster, but rather someone with an expertise in the industry that has personal connections and does not abuse them or take them lightly. Fantastic experience!! I went on a coffee bean harvesting tour with the family run owners and this…read morewas a first for me! Yes I love coffee and I have done tasting tours before in other places but a harvesting tour not until today! It was quite the experience! First we drove on the back of a hay driven truck through their property to the coffee bean acre and a half. I got to pick the fruit which has to be a kind of magenta color and taste the fruit which was actually quite tasty to my surprise! The coffee bean seeds are inside and they are white but after they are roasted they turn brown. What's really cool is they provided us a mug we filled with beans and dirt to bring home to grow our own coffee plant! What's really cool is that even the outside fruit of the coffee bean is also being used to make a jam which I got to sample as part of the 2 hour tour. What I learned is that they have a variety of tours throughout the season and I will definitely be back for a tasting tour for sure! The family owners were very excited to explain their farm and history and really what a treat since their really isn't a whole lotta coffee farms in CA! Highly recommend the experience for friends, family and group outings.
