Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
Date: August 9, 2026 Purchases: Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Salad Vanilla Milkshake Experience: One of our friends had suggested going to this place and I was sold on the photos of the milkshakes. He did warn us that it may be an hour wait to be seated, which we didn't mind. We had gone a Sunday after the 10AM mass and found parking once we got into the lot. There was additional parking in the lot across the way as well. The guys got in line, which was a little bit past the gate leading to a little area where parents with kids were hanging out. The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. Overall, a great experience and would be down to comeback when visiting our friends in Camarillo again.
The atmosphere is so fun being able to see the planes and sit on the patio, we didn't like that you have to order at the counter and they will not seat you to even start with a drink until your whole party is there. Makes the vibe feel cheap and like a cafeteria. Food was good but not the dining experience we wanted.
I went here on a Friday and there was a line outside. It was not that long because it was based on who orders faster. It gives you time to figure out what to order because you need to order up front. The service was nice and our waiter was friendly. It seems like they increased the price of the milkshake once again, but it was still the same size and really good. Last time, I ordered their burger and it was really small. So this time I ordered a sandwich and I was not disappointed as this one was a decent size. It was really tasty, but I wish they also added a pickle on the side of the sandwiches too. Their salads are also really good along with the bread that comes with it. The ambiance was nice and the planes are not very loud, but there is a lot of people. Overall, this is a nice place for lunch or special events like birthdays for a decent price.
I'm still Drooling over the toasty buttery tuna melt. The onion rings were super crunchy. But before you enjoy your meal join the wait line. When you get to the door make sure you know what to order because that's where they will take your order and you will pay ,then be seated. Plenty of friendly staff on hand so process goes fast and smooth. Cute outside patio where you can see planes take off. Family friendly restaurant that even has a mini runway on site.
A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. A line, a short wait and get it in. Marcello managed drums ie coffee, mimosa's, apple juice and espresso and latte's. The fun began in the waiting. I don't know the servers name but she managed 20 of us in grand style. The orders were delivered at the same time, hot, beautiful and yummy. We had such a variety and enjoyed it all.
This is a super busy cafe on the grounds of the Camarillo airport. As I understand, it is always as busy as it was this morning on a Saturday at 9:30 AM. There were about 25 people in line on the front walk, at least under large umbrellas to shelter from the intense sun. Restaurant staff walked by handing out menus and plastic cups of water. Slowly being let into the restaurant as tables became available, you approach the host desk and place your order. Upon completion and paying the check. You are shown to your table and drinks are brought by a "flight crew " table server. In no time at all the food is delivered and it is huge and very tasty.my biscuits and gravy was a bit light on gravy but tadty. It was stacked on a large biscuit open faced with a sausage patty and egg on each face with grain top. With a dide of hash browns it was more than I could eat the kids meal of French toast and side of eggs was ample. The cinnamon roll was huge. Coffee refills came as asked for
First time here in 5 years , its 1130 am and 76 degrees , and over the table the heater is on generating uncomfortable space , The seats we are in are as hard as a rock . It's very noisy , and really not to senior friendly if your using can ect . No Counter seating anymore . The hostess out front came to the counter and talked fast hard to understand and moved us here . Not like the old days 5-6 years ago it has lost its magic. Foods here let's hope it's at least tasty !!!
This place is fabulous! Amazing food with amazing view ! Watching planes come in n out while enjoying a milkshake is very nice . My wife said she would pass on the chilaquiles tho . Service is quick too
We love coming to Camarillo and eating here! The tri tip is always delicious, they BBQ it on site but you have to get there before it sells out as it's a popular item. The milkshakes and the burgers are delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes are always a delicious sweet treat! And you get to watch some really nice planes land and take off!
I had the chicken and waffles here. It was absolutely the best batch of chicken and waffles I have ever had. So crispy and the extra butter merged well with the chicken which made it very juicy. I highly recommend this order for when you go. In addition the service was efficient and easy. Ordering at the entrance and getting your seat after makes things operate smoothly. There was outside and inside dinning but with all the people it was still a very calm place to eat. Not so noisy at all. I will definitely be going here again.

My sister in law recommended this place to have breakfast so we stopped by and boy were we satisfied! When we got there we ordered at the front before we were seated. So by the time we sat down the food was coming out. It was quick service. The day was nice and being able to sit outside near the planes was pleasant. Food was great. Waffles to die for! If you come definitely order a shake. Delicious!!! Here is all the food we ordered and a view of the outside patio.
First off I guess I should've read more about this restaurant. It was near an airport kind of out-of-the-way. I didn't know you had to get in line and then order when you got to the front of the line. So someone came out and gave me a menu and I finally got in line with my husband. We weren't there that long maybe 10 to 15 minutes. So we got to the cashier and we ordered our breakfast. Then someone took us to our seats. Ashlie was our server but basically she brought out our food and our coffee. My husband and I both had coffee and I love the mugs and the coffee was pretty good. They even had the raw sugar we like. I had a Carnitas omelette with fruit and wheat toast. The omelette was pretty good, the fruit I would've liked some blueberries or something else. It had a lot of pineapple. Love the wheat toast. My husband had ham and eggs with hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were your typical he said the ham steak wasn't as good as some other places. They did come around and made sure we had coffee and water. And then it might've been the owner she brought us to go boxes. Great if you have kids cause you can sit outside and I believe you may even can bring your dogs. Inside look nice but we chose to sit outside. I like how they stagger the table so you're not next to people. But it was rather loud outside. read more

Waypoint Cafe is in our top 2 Breakfast places in Ventura County. We go because the food quality is consistently top notch and because of the fun ambiance. Enjoy a mimosa or milkshake while watching planes and helicopters traveling down the runway. There's a kiddie runway with tower for the kids in all of us on the patio as well as a beautiful fountain. Now for the adults, you'll enjoy a full menu including breakfast served all day, burgers, tri-tip sandwiches, salads and desserts. The food is consistently good and the kitchen takes pride in everything that's brought to your table. Our favorites are the cinnamon roll, omelettes, biscuits and gravy, ricotta pancakes, sandwiches and my go to is the Ortega chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken is perfectly seasoned and thick and juicy served with guacamole and chipotle mayo and pepper rack between 2 brioche buns- heaven!! The service is good but be prepared to stand in line and order before you're seated. We like that because the line seems to move more efficiently. read more
The food is always on point. As well as the view. We love to bring the family and friends here just kick back and enjoy mimosas. Our dog even loves it here, especially when the weather is beautiful. Waypoint Cafe provides such a unique dining experience that I've never had anywhere else. Situated in the Camarillo Airport, the restaurant provides close up views of the planes taking off and landing on the runway. There are two outdoor seating areas, one of which is a lot closer to the planes than the other section which is connected to the restaurant and has patio shade. The area closer to the planes is occasionally loud when the planes come by to park but it's not common. The runway is quite a bit away from the seating area. The food is alright. Good but nothing too special. We got the Pastrami sandwich, Chicken and biscuits, and Alma milkshake. Milkshake was top notch!! Loved that it came with the classic metal refill container too with some extras :) Pastrami sandwich was solid. We got it on sourdough instead or rye and that was a huge plus. Only mistake was that we asked for fries for our side and it came with potato salad instead; this problem was quickly fixed by the very attentive servers. Also we asked for mustard on the side instead of in the sandwich; I think they missed this note as well but I didn't wanna complain about something so minor. The chicken and biscuits was alright for us. The biscuit was fluffy, but we thought it was too dry with honestly not enough gravy. The chicken was very yummy though. We ended up not finishing the biscuit. Large portions though!! Overall, despite the food, I still had such a great time here, being able to sit outside and watch the plans fly out. We get there and it's a huge line! But we took an Uber so no choice. I ask how long the wait is and the erson up front is a local and she said " it's quick!" Waited for about 15 minutes for awesome food. Glad we stayed. Food was out in 10 minutes. Took some pictures this time. You won't be sorry. read more

This place is amazing. Service here is friendly and attentive. The inside is very elegant and there's an outside patio area view of private planes across from it. Now the food is another level. If you're in the area you must go and try this place. Just check out what I ordered. read more

This brunch spot has it all, from delicious drinks to yummy food and a wait to go along. The line to is very long but it's because the food is good, the ambience is nice (especially when the weather is perfect) and you order and pay at the counter before you're seated. I really like the chicken and waffles, Dave's Famous Chicken, Cinnamon Roll (huge) and of course a milkshake. read more

Was my first time trying this place last weekend really good food. The line is long, but don't let that deter you just get there early or have the expectation to wait. Once you do get seated and you order your food before you get seated it's pretty fast. The food comes out pretty fast and it's a nice ambience. read more

First time coming to this gem. I was invited here by my coworkers for breakfast/brunch. It's a quaint spot that is super popular. We met here at 10 and waited in line outside to get in. While you wait in line you get a menu so you can decide on what you're going to eat by the time you make it to the front of the line. Once in the front of the line, you place your order and pay before being seated. The line does move fairly quickly, we waited no more than about 20 minutes. Also, you get an option of inside or outside seating. We sat inside just because we were ready to eat (lol). Inside was nice and you can still see outside. Outside was the view of the Camarillo airport which is a small commercial airport located right outside of the restaurant. The food was delicious! I couldn't decide between the pancakes, French toast, or breakfast sandwich. I couldn't make a decision so I let the waiter decide. The breakfast was fresh, hot, and delicious. In addition to breakfast, I choose the tropical mimosa. The tropical mimosa was pineapple. Orange juice and cranberry juice mixed with champagne. The food arrived about 10 minutes after being seated and the drinks arrived within a few minutes of being seated. Everything was great from the food to the views and customer service. Since you order before seating. Different workers come around to refill your water and to make sure everything is okay. I definitely will be coming back to try something else on the menu. read more
I went here for a late brunch with family visiting town. Customer service is absolutely outstanding! Andrew the host was incredibly accommodating, especially with our two year old. He was able to quickly get our party of eight seated. The food was excellent. Their breakfast burrito and cinnamon roll was delish! The view of the planes was great and our son just loved them. We will definitely be back when we're in Camarillo again! read more
Waypoint is just one of those places that you keep coming back to. As you sit there taking in the surroundings and feeling the cool breeze blowing off the ocean, you can't help but feel like you're on vacation somewhere that isn't in the middle of Camarillo! Service is always excellent and everyone is very friendly. Marcello was our server on this occasion, as well as on past visits, and he is just awesome! Whether you are here for breakfast or lunch, the food is always solid and they also offer good-sized portions. Lines can be long on the weekend and around lunch time during the week, however, it moves pretty quickly and it's worth the wait. Overall, really enjoyed my first visit- interesting menu, tasty food, fun to watch the planes! I'd give it a 4.5 if half stars were available with my main complaint being how loud it is (sat on the outdoor patio right next to the building, might be less loud in other spots). The service is interesting with how you order when you arrive, but it was easy to get the attention of the wandering servers once seated and everyone was very friendly. read more

I've been coming here for years and have just forgotten to do a review. About 5 years ago they switched to ordering up front, getting a number and finding a table, so no more table service. They'll run the food out to you and clean your table after so be sure to tip at least some at the register. It's a good place for breakfast and lunch, but there's almost always a line to get in so expect to wait. I've had a little of everything from here but on this occasion I had the country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. For the side I got the massive homemade biscuit and gravy which was my favorite part. Everything was good and extremely filling thanks to their portions. However nothing was amazing, it was all just decent and not worth the long wait. Luckily I came when the line wasn't that long, but have left in the past when I've seen a long line. To drink I opted for coffee, and that's where they lose points. The coffee was the worst swill I've ever tasted and no amount of little flavored creamers could mask the nasty burnt after taste. I wish they had proper creamer but they just have little single serving cups. The service is friendly, and fast as can be considering the popularity of this place. A staff member did offer to get me something else in lieu of the coffee when she asked how everything was and I made it a point to mention the toilet water they poured in my cup, but I stuck to water. It's fun for the little ones to see planes and helicopters taking off and landing. Patio dining is a favorite of mine as well. So overall ambiance is nice for a brunch spot. I always crave this place but I feel like they are only open when i'm busy since the hours are from 8-3. I will always continue to come back here. You line up in the front to get seated the longest i've waited is about an hour and a half. You then place your order when you get to the front of the line so make sure your meal picked out. Once you've ordered they will take you to your seat. The service is always super fast and the food is so yummy. It is a bit pricey but so worth it read more

I love this place!! I've been here several times and it's a great place to eat and possibly see a plane flying in! They do get busy so be prepared to order BEFORE you are seated! However don't worry, because you can order more after you sit! The food came out fast and hot! The atmosphere is great! Like i said, it' does get busy but you won't feel rushed. At least we didn't and we had a party of 10. read more
One of my favorite breakfast spots in Ventura County - and I seem to not be the only one who thinks so because this place is always PACKED when we come. They do things a bit differently here. You will stand in line outside and order at the counter. Afterward, you'll be seated and have your food brought out to you. A bit of a combination between counter service and a full sit-down. I've never come for lunch, only for breakfast - but their breakfast is done so well. I've have yet to find a dish that I don't like. Their omelets are always on point, and their breakfast tacos are also an enjoyable pick. Also do a wonderful mimosa - it was here that I was first introduced to the pineapple mimosa, and ever since then, that will always be my preferred juice over OJ. And they are generous with their mimosa, so just be aware. They allow dogs on their outside patio, so that's always a treat when you want to go out with your furry friend. Gets super lively here, so be prepared for it to be a bit loud. Overall, great spot for breakfast. You'll have to wait in line for a bit, but it's always worth it. read more

Searching for a view of airplanes and food? Look no further. This restaurant is it. The breakfast food here is so good. I would highly recommend the carnitas omelet (you can split it with someone else - they'll split it for you if you ask). The cinnamon roll is nice on the tastebuds also, just be prepared, it's big! No reservations here. This is a first come first serve kind of place so prepare to wait if there's a long line. Missing your fur baby? Bring them with you. Dogs are allowed here. There's inside and outside seating. Would recommend outside seating though, if you'd like to do some airplane watching. Something to note, the outside can also be loud due to some planes taking off. There's also a small area where you can let the munchkins or free spirited adults walk around to stare at some airplanes. All the staff were nice, friendly, and prompt with their service. read more

The food was pretty good and inside it was clean with such a cute ambiance. They decorated for Christmas. It was super cold so we decided on a booth inside. They're very comfortable. I'm short and usually have the problem of not reaching the table or the back of the booth but I could here. It had views of the patio and outside airfield which was pretty awesome. All the workers are very nice. The coffee was a little too bitter, one thing I loved being diabetic was all the sugar substitutes it gave me, I don't like sweet n low and they had real stevia and sf syrup. I've always wanted to come here but every time we drove by the line was out the door. Turns out the ordering style is diner traditional, order at the register, you get a number and they seat you fast, and serve you fast, delicious food. For as fast as they were and not being fast food I think it's worth it. If you're thinking "What's the point of tipping if they don't have a traditional server/waiter?" Don't. They're attentive. They come by often asking if you want refills, boxes, if everything tastes good, if you want anything else; they also clean up after you. And this was on a busy Saturday morning. The front and back of the house all deserve the extra that is needed to survive the restaurant industry. For two breakfasts, an extra side and a coffee w unlimited refills I tipped a little over 20% and it ran under $60. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed Waypoint before! I absolutely love, love this place! Every time I have family or friends visiting, I bring them here! The parking can be a little challenging, especially during peak hours but we've always been able to park before we got to the front of the line to order. The line-- sometimessss it can get pretty long, which can be brutal during the summer. But they have really spruced up their outdoor area where the line forms. They have shade for people waiting and they even put benches on the side. They will sometimes bring cups of water during the summer while you wait, which is super considerate of them. Just be prepared to wait 1-1.5 hours especially in the summer/ when the weather is nice and people are out to brunch! You can grab a menu to peruse while you wait and you order and pay when you get to the hostess right inside the doors. They will seat you (I recommend outdoor, even in the colder times bc they have heaters). The outdoor area has more of a view of the planes, so that always adds to the ambiance and experience of Waypoint. Now let's get to the most important part-- the FOOD! Honestly, nothing has been a miss here! And portions are big. One plate is usually enough for 2 people. Definitely get a biscuit! They're pretty large and so fluffy and delish, and that whipped butter is bomb. I have not had the gravy so I cannot comment on that. The cinnamon roll French toast is 9/10. So, so yummy and one order was enough for 5 (we had leftovers). Then we got a tuna melt, basic good. 7.5/10 but the fries were a 10/10 (with the ranch, maybe it's the ranch that was a 10/10 lol). The breakfast burrito was a 8.5/10 (we got it without bacon). I wish the salsa was spicy tho. We got the hash browns on the side, which were good. The veggie omelette was hefty and filling and also came with bread and hash browns. I've previously had a California omelette with no bacon and that was filling too. And the huevos rancheros were also a hit with my group when we went previously! I haven't tried the shakes yet but I've heard great things and will definitely try one the next time I visit! Is it loud because of the airplanes?
I didn't find it to be loud due to airplanes. The restaurant was packed so the biggest sound issue was just other diners talking and clinking plates, silverware, etc. Nothing excessive, but definitely did not hear an airplane.
Does the restaurant look over the runway?
Yes it does outside is the best view of that but there are windows inside too.
Is breakfast served all day?
Yes but service is hit or miss. My burger was overdone and the person next to me was underdone. If you want a great breakfast go to Hidden Cafe in Camarillo springs. Traditional breakfasts and Hawaiian breakfasts.
Will you open for dinner Friday & Saturday night this summer?

Do you still offer chorizo and eggs breakfast plate; not the burrito?
When I went in January, it was a plate, not a burrito.
How long is the wait on a Saturday morning? Also, do all the outdoor seats have a good view of the planes coming & going? Or do we have to request those seats? Thank you!
The wait was about 15 minutes last time I went. All the outside tables will do, though the tables that aren't under the covered patio are better for spotting the planes coming in.
Do they offer to go/ takeout?
As I know if they don't. But, of course they let you take out the left over food after your meal.
Do they take reservations for Sunday brunch?
Unfortunately NO...but so worth the wait👍🏻
Does Waypoint allow dogs in their outdoor seating area?
Yes they do. We have brought our dog several times as long as he is on a leash. Also, there is a local older dog who wanders the area and comes and goes as he pleases. He belongs to one of the hangar workers nearby the restaurant. Everyone greets…
Do they have a room/ area for large private groups?
It doesn't have a large indoor space, however there is space outside that could probably be used but it depends on how large your party is. 10-15 people would work. Anything larger than that would be challenging I think. Inside, there is an area off…
When is the best time to come eat here?
Weekends are very busy but it's better before 10 or after 1 p.m.
