Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
Date: August 9, 2026 Purchases: Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Salad Vanilla Milkshake Experience: One of our friends had suggested going to this place and I was sold on the photos of the milkshakes. He did warn us that it may be an hour wait to be seated, which we didn't mind. We had gone a Sunday after the 10AM mass and found parking once we got into the lot. There was additional parking in the lot across the way as well. The guys got in line, which was a little bit past the gate leading to a little area where parents with kids were hanging out. The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. Overall, a great experience and would be down to comeback when visiting our friends in Camarillo again.
The atmosphere is so fun being able to see the planes and sit on the patio, we didn't like that you have to order at the counter and they will not seat you to even start with a drink until your whole party is there. Makes the vibe feel cheap and like a cafeteria. Food was good but not the dining experience we wanted.
I went here on a Friday and there was a line outside. It was not that long because it was based on who orders faster. It gives you time to figure out what to order because you need to order up front. The service was nice and our waiter was friendly. It seems like they increased the price of the milkshake once again, but it was still the same size and really good. Last time, I ordered their burger and it was really small. So this time I ordered a sandwich and I was not disappointed as this one was a decent size. It was really tasty, but I wish they also added a pickle on the side of the sandwiches too. Their salads are also really good along with the bread that comes with it. The ambiance was nice and the planes are not very loud, but there is a lot of people. Overall, this is a nice place for lunch or special events like birthdays for a decent price.
I'm still Drooling over the toasty buttery tuna melt. The onion rings were super crunchy. But before you enjoy your meal join the wait line. When you get to the door make sure you know what to order because that's where they will take your order and you will pay ,then be seated. Plenty of friendly staff on hand so process goes fast and smooth. Cute outside patio where you can see planes take off. Family friendly restaurant that even has a mini runway on site.
A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. A line, a short wait and get it in. Marcello managed drums ie coffee, mimosa's, apple juice and espresso and latte's. The fun began in the waiting. I don't know the servers name but she managed 20 of us in grand style. The orders were delivered at the same time, hot, beautiful and yummy. We had such a variety and enjoyed it all.
This is a super busy cafe on the grounds of the Camarillo airport. As I understand, it is always as busy as it was this morning on a Saturday at 9:30 AM. There were about 25 people in line on the front walk, at least under large umbrellas to shelter from the intense sun. Restaurant staff walked by handing out menus and plastic cups of water. Slowly being let into the restaurant as tables became available, you approach the host desk and place your order. Upon completion and paying the check. You are shown to your table and drinks are brought by a "flight crew " table server. In no time at all the food is delivered and it is huge and very tasty.my biscuits and gravy was a bit light on gravy but tadty. It was stacked on a large biscuit open faced with a sausage patty and egg on each face with grain top. With a dide of hash browns it was more than I could eat the kids meal of French toast and side of eggs was ample. The cinnamon roll was huge. Coffee refills came as asked for
First time here in 5 years , its 1130 am and 76 degrees , and over the table the heater is on generating uncomfortable space , The seats we are in are as hard as a rock . It's very noisy , and really not to senior friendly if your using can ect . No Counter seating anymore . The hostess out front came to the counter and talked fast hard to understand and moved us here . Not like the old days 5-6 years ago it has lost its magic. Foods here let's hope it's at least tasty !!!
This place is fabulous! Amazing food with amazing view ! Watching planes come in n out while enjoying a milkshake is very nice . My wife said she would pass on the chilaquiles tho . Service is quick too
We love coming to Camarillo and eating here! The tri tip is always delicious, they BBQ it on site but you have to get there before it sells out as it's a popular item. The milkshakes and the burgers are delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes are always a delicious sweet treat! And you get to watch some really nice planes land and take off!
I had the chicken and waffles here. It was absolutely the best batch of chicken and waffles I have ever had. So crispy and the extra butter merged well with the chicken which made it very juicy. I highly recommend this order for when you go. In addition the service was efficient and easy. Ordering at the entrance and getting your seat after makes things operate smoothly. There was outside and inside dinning but with all the people it was still a very calm place to eat. Not so noisy at all. I will definitely be going here again.
Food: 3/5 A decent amount of food choices Big portions Service: 4/5 Quick service Staff friendly Ambiance: 4/5 Relaxing, if you have outdoor seating there's a nice viewing of aircraft's
My sister in law recommended this place to have breakfast so we stopped by and boy were we satisfied! When we got there we ordered at the front before we were seated. So by the time we sat down the food was coming out. It was quick service. The day was nice and being able to sit outside near the planes was pleasant. Food was great. Waffles to die for! If you come definitely order a shake. Delicious!!! Here is all the food we ordered and a view of the outside patio.

My family and I chose this place for brunch one Sunday (keep in mind that the post-church crowd made the line long but it moves really quick.) I appreciate that you order and pay before you're sat that way the food comes soon after. They only had outside seating available but it was covered and near the tarmac so great view. I ordered the California omelette and shared the French toast plate with my husband - both were amazing. 10/1 read more
First time here. Visiting, the line was long but it moved rather quickly. You order your food first and pay then they seat you. It's very efficient in my opinion! Once you are seated the food comes rather quickly. The food was great, multiple people checked in on us to see how we were doing. We had a great view of the planes coming in and out. This was a great experience. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Waypoint Cafe is one of my favorite Breakfast/Brunch spots in the 805. I've been here a handful of times for Brunch. Unless you're a local, you wouldn't know that they're located by the tiny Camarillo Airport. They have both indoor & outdoor seating. If you sit outside, you should be able to see mini planes take off or land nearby. I've seen many families dine here. It's cute to see all the lil ones light up when they see the lil planes. There's lots of open space for them to run around too. Even your fur babies are welcome here too. Quick Info: They are open Tuesday-Sunday 8am-3pm & offer American Cuisine for Breakfast & Lunch. You wait in line, place your order, pay, wait to get seated. Then, your food & drinks are brought to your table by different staff/servers. Just don't expect any table side service. Detailed Info: You line up in front of the restaurant. While you wait, look at the menu. Grab some menus from inside or look it up on your phone. Because, when you get inside they take your order. So you have to know what you want (Food & Drinks) before going inside. Place your order nicely with the smiling human. Then you pay for your food & drinks... Shortly, you get seated.... And before you know it, all your drinks & food are delivered quickly to your table... If you don't have any condiments at your table or if you're missing any sauces, then ask for it. They usually come & check if you have all you need & if everything is okay. Again, Just don't expect any table side service, just great service :D Yes the lines can be super long especially during peak times esp on the weekends. Weekdays are usually a shorter wait. I've previously waited 30-45 minutes, which isn't bad at all. I know of people who waited 1-2 hours. But, that's prolly Bec of a Holiday. My last visit was pretty quick. A 25 minute wait on a Saturday. But it helps to go early . Big Sized Portions, so come hungry. Everything I've had was so good. I'm usually ordering Breakfast when I visit. But, those lunch plates look Super inviting. Will definitely check out lunch soon... I'm pretty sure I've posted a handful of food pics. You're welcome! read more

The line is intimidating, but it actually moved faster than I thought it would. You order when you walk in and the food is brought out which makes it much faster. We sat outside, it was fun to watch the planes. The food was all very good. Get the sourdough toast. I would skip the French toast next time, but the chicken fried steak was delicious. Friendly staff, need to come back read more

Ambiance: "We went for the planes"! This is a big kid playground for those in your life that love the "high" life . The planes and chill atmosphere is why I would recommend going to this restaurant at least once. Service: Be prepared for a line but it moves quickly. You order at the counter, are given a number, once seated your food is brought and the servers check-in on you periodically for any unmet needs. Everyone seems to enjoy working there and it shows in their service. Food: You get a lot for your money. Breakfast plate with cinnamon roll, eggs, and hash brown. Hubby enjoyed his meal. I thought it was WAY too much food . I had a tuna sandwich, fries, and pineapple juice. The juice tasted like it came from the can. My tuna sandwich unfortunately didn't agree with me once we got home but I enjoyed while at the restaurant. The first time I came to the restaurant I had the yogurt parfait. Beautiful presentation and lots of food. I am not sure if we would be back for the food but the planes for sure. There's a park area near the restaurant with seating area that I believe is open to the public. read more

Superb service and food! Once you arrive, don't be intimidated by the line of people you see (if you do). They are busy taking your orders once you arrive to the front. It doesn't hurt to grab a menu or 2 so your party can decide what to order and be set to go! Once you're seated, it's a breeze from there. Take in the scenery, enjoy the weather, catch up with friends and family. When the food arrives, your taste buds will thank you! When I say I've found my salad, y'all, I've really found my go to cob salad! I will be back just for this salad lol! Their presentation was beautifully plated and the planes around make it more entertaining. They have a little runway for the kids to play and thought that was so cute! I didn't get a chance to snap pics of but don't miss it. Will be back, Waypoint Cafe! read more

This was a great brunch place! We were in the area for the weekend and arrived around 1030 AM for brunch. There is a queue to order and after ordering and paying you are taken to a table. We waited about 30 minutes to order. It seems very popular and the line was almost doubled by the time we left the restaurant. We got the club sandwich, biscuit and gravy sandwich and a deluxe milkshake (chocolate, peanut butter and banana). Total was near $60 after tax and tip. The food came out very quickly and tasted great. Fries were nice and crispy. The milkshake comes with a second cup that has the leftover. Dog friendly on the patio, they even brought water for our dogs. There is additional grass and seating area to the side to be able to watch the planes come and go. Only difficult thing was finding parking as the lot right in front of the restaurant was packed but we found parking just across the street in another lot. Overall a fun place to have brunch that works for kids, dogs and adults. read more
I got the tuna salad sandwich with the garlic fries. This was the freshest sandwich I've ever had it paired nicely with the lettuce, it had a great crunch. The waitress was attentive and continued to fill our water when we were out. It was pretty cool watching the planes take off, it's a pretty popular place. read more
I've never thought to hang out with friends at the airport let alone grab brunch, but I'm glad I tried it! We came on a Friday morning around 9:30 am and there was about a 15 minute wait to be seated. You order your food at the counter before being seated at a table, so we spent our time waiting deciding what we wanted to eat. We shared the smokehouse BBQ burger and the enchilada omelet. I absolutely loved the fries that came with the burger. Everything about the BBQ burger was exactly what I wanted out of a BBQ burger. By the time I got around to trying the omelet I was already stuffed. But I really enjoyed the omelet with one enchilada inside and one on top of the omelet. The portions are pretty big but the food was so good we almost left no crumbs. Would recommend especially if you have kids or are just interested in watching some planes fly in or out while enjoying a meal. read more

If you eat here during the weekends, be prepared to wait in line for atleast 15-30min. Depending on how crowded it is. We waited in line for a table, received a table number, waited in the same line to order food, and then were escorted to our table. The food itself for brunch was pretty decent. The portion sizes were definitely on the larger side. The milkshakes were a m a z i n g . We picked to be seated outside. The weather was nice and sunny out and we got seated in the shaded area. I would come again when I got time to wait in line on the weekends. read more

It was the perfect service that impressed us the most. There was quite literally nothing they could have done better. We both ordered breakfast. My husband ordered the carnitas omelette with hash browns, sourdough toast and a side of sausage patties and a buttermilk pancake. The carnitas portion and the guacamole were generous. He ordered extra cheese, and there was probably too much cheese (if there could be such a thing). I tasted his pancake and it was the best I have ever tasted. i had the open face biscuits and gravy. iIt was delicious. I asked for extra gravy. it arrived quickly and it was hot. The O'brien potatoes were very good. So the good is very good and the service is excellent. The planes were slow today, but the location was fun. You won't regret going for a meal. It closes at 3:00. read more

Such a cool brunch spot with amazing views of lil planes taking on and off! Came on a Saturday afternoon & my group waited about 10-15 minutes which is super reasonable. I've heard the wait could be longer, but it's a popping place, so guess I got lucky! Anyways, how the restaurant works is you order your meal at the counter, pay, and then get seated. If you are coming with a party make sure they are all there once you get to the front of the line or they wont seat you until you do. We got seated outside but asked to switch to a better view of the planes & they were nice enough to help us switch tables. Service was super quick and we got our meals within 5 minutes. Staff was attentive & would always check up on us which I appreciated! I ordered a Rancher's Omelet which came with cheese, avocado, bacon, tomatoes with a side of their O'Brien potatoes & sourdough bread. The salsa on the side was the perfect spiciness I needed on top of the omelet. Flavors mixed well. Love the hot sauce selection of Tobasco & Cholula as well. However, only thing lacking for me were the O'Brien potatoes. Flavor-wise it needed more seasoning and depth in taste. Their milkshake seemed popular so I opted for a Coffee milkshake. It came with an extra scoop of shake on the side too. I loved the attention to detail of the coffee beans on top & chocolate rimmed glass. Overall, their portion was big & filling! Great atmosphere with cool views of planes landing & taking off. Quick & great service for a nice unique brunch experience. read more
My first Yelp review of 2024 is to tell you about a fantastic brunch place in Ventura County called Waypoint Cafe. As it has elements to make a great brunching spot: good food, fast/excellent service, serves alcohol and a great view. Lets start with service. When we arrived to the cafe, the line to get a table wrapped around the outside front of the cafe, although it did move pretty quickly. We waited probably 30 minutes. It was nice of Waypoint to serve small cups of coffee to the patrons in line outside, while waiting. With choice of indoor or outdoor seating, we sat indoor and tables accommodated large groups of 6-7 people (our group had 7). We ordered our food/paid at the door and then was seated. Food was promptly served and I was pleased with the attentive service who always checked on our big group to make sure our water was filled and needs met. Great portion sizes of food, would satisfy big appetites and taste pretty amazing. I got the Cinnamon French Toast combo (eggs how you like it and bacon or sausage, I choose bacon) for $20. My Bloody Mary, looked cute (see my pic) and taste light with not so much alcohol in it. Inside/outside decor or the building is nothing special to post on IG. Outside view was of planes taking off at Oxnard airport, which is kinda cool. Parking is a free with a moderately large lot. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 8AM till 3PM. I'd definitely be back to try other items here. read more
Obviously this place is a staple in my repertoire. Always an AWESOME crowd. Food is hot and fresh tasting. Classic American diner with fun twists. Today for lunch I got the Pepper Jack Turkey Melt (with no cheese cuz sadly my stomach doesn't allow for that). It was served on toasted garlic French bread with was an epic touch! Good amount of t of meat and avocado. Perfect size as well. Should have added Ortega chilis to make up for the lack of pepper jack :( (but that's my fault). If I could say just ONE NIT PICKY THING...the service is like...TOO FAST. Our food came out before we even sat at our table! Other than that, this place is a 10/10! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for so long and finally got to come here yesterday around 2pm! We waited in line for about 20-25 minutes to order and then we're seated. We got seated on their large patio where you can watch planes and helicopters take off! Such a cool concept/place to eat! They also have a lawn in the patio and play area for children. The service we received was also great! They were super attentive and we got our shakes within 5 minutes of ordering and food within 10. After deciding between the spicy crispy chicken and pepperjack turkey melt, I decided to get the spicy crispy chicken and it was so good and filling! I wish the chicken was more salted and there was more sauce on the sandwich, but overall it was good. The peppers really made it better. My partner got the chicken and waffles and loved it! Their portions are huge (which is great cause it's a bit pricey). And their shakes!! We were skeptical at first cause they're $11-12 each but they are definitely worth it! So creamy and rich! Plus they also give you the extra in the cup they make it in instead of throwing it away. Overall, I would definitely come here again and bring people here to try. The food is great, the service is amazing, and watching airplanes take off while eating is so cool! read more
The food was okay at best. It lacked flavor and was unfortunately very soggy, which made it less enjoyable. The service was just okay--not bad, but nothing exceptional. We sat outside and it was also unpleasant. Overall, an okay experience. Wouldn't come here again. read more

Wow! Amazing food and staff and great atmosphere and ambience! You can sit in the patio and watch the planes land and take off! Can't wait to come back!!! The staff is truly amazing! Waypoint is a "if you know you know" type place. It's tucked away on the backside of the Camarillo airport. You walk in and are immediately greeted (after standing in line) and you place your order. Then like a traditional restaurant you have the ability to sit or takeout. You can sit inside or outside but either way you're going to hear the planes :) Waypoint is great for friends and family gatherings and could also be nice for a brunch date. The service staff are attentive and make sure you have what you need. Now, the food...I have tried a simple breakfast here (bacon, eggs, pancakes) and that was good. I tried the chicken and waffles and although I enjoyed the waffle, the chicken fell flat for me. The breading was not properly bonded and seemed a bit burnt. However, I want to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just mine. I saw another gentleman truly enjoying his. I will be back to try it again amongst other things they have to offer. Give a shot! read more

I love everything about this restaurant. My favorite being it's right at the airport. We landed here for breakfast and there was a massive line during the weekend but they move quickly. I had them do a veggie scramble no eggs and if you want it to be truly vegan, let them know to cook it away from the meat. I ordered and some meat pieces ended up in there. They had no problems fixing it. Coffee is great. Service is perfect. I'll return here. read more

This place was worth the wait if you like mimosas and airport views. As soon as we arrived there was a huge line but we were pretty patient. I ordered the huevos rancheros in a tostada bowl with a side of fruit and it was good. The tostada bowl could have used a bit more salsa or seasoning for flavor. The star of the show was definitely the mimosas. I was surprised when I saw how large it was and it tasted super refreshing. The fruit was also pretty fresh. Great experience, good service, and great price. Just keep in mind there is often a long line unless you arrive very early but it's worth it. read more

Is it loud because of the airplanes?
I didn't find it to be loud due to airplanes. The restaurant was packed so the biggest sound issue was just other diners talking and clinking plates, silverware, etc. Nothing excessive, but definitely did not hear an airplane.
Does the restaurant look over the runway?
Yes it does outside is the best view of that but there are windows inside too.
Is breakfast served all day?
Yes but service is hit or miss. My burger was overdone and the person next to me was underdone. If you want a great breakfast go to Hidden Cafe in Camarillo springs. Traditional breakfasts and Hawaiian breakfasts.
Will you open for dinner Friday & Saturday night this summer?
Recommend telephone the business direct.
Do you still offer chorizo and eggs breakfast plate; not the burrito?
When I went in January, it was a plate, not a burrito.
How long is the wait on a Saturday morning? Also, do all the outdoor seats have a good view of the planes coming & going? Or do we have to request those seats? Thank you!
The wait was about 15 minutes last time I went. All the outside tables will do, though the tables that aren't under the covered patio are better for spotting the planes coming in.
Do they offer to go/ takeout?
As I know if they don't. But, of course they let you take out the left over food after your meal.
Do they take reservations for Sunday brunch?
Unfortunately NO...but so worth the wait👍🏻
Does Waypoint allow dogs in their outdoor seating area?
Yes they do. We have brought our dog several times as long as he is on a leash. Also, there is a local older dog who wanders the area and comes and goes as he pleases. He belongs to one of the hangar workers nearby the restaurant. Everyone greets…
Do they have a room/ area for large private groups?
It doesn't have a large indoor space, however there is space outside that could probably be used but it depends on how large your party is. 10-15 people would work. Anything larger than that would be challenging I think. Inside, there is an area off…
When is the best time to come eat here?
Weekends are very busy but it's better before 10 or after 1 p.m.
