Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
Date: August 9, 2026 Purchases: Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Salad Vanilla Milkshake Experience: One of our friends had suggested going to this place and I was sold on the photos of the milkshakes. He did warn us that it may be an hour wait to be seated, which we didn't mind. We had gone a Sunday after the 10AM mass and found parking once we got into the lot. There was additional parking in the lot across the way as well. The guys got in line, which was a little bit past the gate leading to a little area where parents with kids were hanging out. The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. Overall, a great experience and would be down to comeback when visiting our friends in Camarillo again.
I went here on a Friday and there was a line outside. It was not that long because it was based on who orders faster. It gives you time to figure out what to order because you need to order up front. The service was nice and our waiter was friendly. It seems like they increased the price of the milkshake once again, but it was still the same size and really good. Last time, I ordered their burger and it was really small. So this time I ordered a sandwich and I was not disappointed as this one was a decent size. It was really tasty, but I wish they also added a pickle on the side of the sandwiches too. Their salads are also really good along with the bread that comes with it. The ambiance was nice and the planes are not very loud, but there is a lot of people. Overall, this is a nice place for lunch or special events like birthdays for a decent price.
I'm still Drooling over the toasty buttery tuna melt. The onion rings were super crunchy. But before you enjoy your meal join the wait line. When you get to the door make sure you know what to order because that's where they will take your order and you will pay ,then be seated. Plenty of friendly staff on hand so process goes fast and smooth. Cute outside patio where you can see planes take off. Family friendly restaurant that even has a mini runway on site.
A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. A line, a short wait and get it in. Marcello managed drums ie coffee, mimosa's, apple juice and espresso and latte's. The fun began in the waiting. I don't know the servers name but she managed 20 of us in grand style. The orders were delivered at the same time, hot, beautiful and yummy. We had such a variety and enjoyed it all.
The atmosphere is so fun being able to see the planes and sit on the patio, we didn't like that you have to order at the counter and they will not seat you to even start with a drink until your whole party is there. Makes the vibe feel cheap and like a cafeteria. Food was good but not the dining experience we wanted.
First time here in 5 years , its 1130 am and 76 degrees , and over the table the heater is on generating uncomfortable space , The seats we are in are as hard as a rock . It's very noisy , and really not to senior friendly if your using can ect . No Counter seating anymore . The hostess out front came to the counter and talked fast hard to understand and moved us here . Not like the old days 5-6 years ago it has lost its magic. Foods here let's hope it's at least tasty !!!
This is a super busy cafe on the grounds of the Camarillo airport. As I understand, it is always as busy as it was this morning on a Saturday at 9:30 AM. There were about 25 people in line on the front walk, at least under large umbrellas to shelter from the intense sun. Restaurant staff walked by handing out menus and plastic cups of water. Slowly being let into the restaurant as tables became available, you approach the host desk and place your order. Upon completion and paying the check. You are shown to your table and drinks are brought by a "flight crew " table server. In no time at all the food is delivered and it is huge and very tasty.my biscuits and gravy was a bit light on gravy but tadty. It was stacked on a large biscuit open faced with a sausage patty and egg on each face with grain top. With a dide of hash browns it was more than I could eat the kids meal of French toast and side of eggs was ample. The cinnamon roll was huge. Coffee refills came as asked for
This place is fabulous! Amazing food with amazing view ! Watching planes come in n out while enjoying a milkshake is very nice . My wife said she would pass on the chilaquiles tho . Service is quick too
We love coming to Camarillo and eating here! The tri tip is always delicious, they BBQ it on site but you have to get there before it sells out as it's a popular item. The milkshakes and the burgers are delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes are always a delicious sweet treat! And you get to watch some really nice planes land and take off!
I had the chicken and waffles here. It was absolutely the best batch of chicken and waffles I have ever had. So crispy and the extra butter merged well with the chicken which made it very juicy. I highly recommend this order for when you go. In addition the service was efficient and easy. Ordering at the entrance and getting your seat after makes things operate smoothly. There was outside and inside dinning but with all the people it was still a very calm place to eat. Not so noisy at all. I will definitely be going here again.

My sister in law recommended this place to have breakfast so we stopped by and boy were we satisfied! When we got there we ordered at the front before we were seated. So by the time we sat down the food was coming out. It was quick service. The day was nice and being able to sit outside near the planes was pleasant. Food was great. Waffles to die for! If you come definitely order a shake. Delicious!!! Here is all the food we ordered and a view of the outside patio.
This place was worth the wait if you like mimosas and airport views. As soon as we arrived there was a huge line but we were pretty patient. I ordered the huevos rancheros in a tostada bowl with a side of fruit and it was good. The tostada bowl could have used a bit more salsa or seasoning for flavor. The star of the show was definitely the mimosas. I was surprised when I saw how large it was and it tasted super refreshing. The fruit was also pretty fresh. Great experience, good service, and great price. Just keep in mind there is often a long line unless you arrive very early but it's worth it. read more

Second time here and we will be back!!! Had French toast combo. Eggs cooked perfectly and French toast delicious. Maple syrup exceptional. Husband had carnitas omelette and devoured it. Great food. Great service. Reasonable prices Fun place at the airport ! read more

Honestly felt very underwhelmed by the experience -- I've heard about this place from multiple folks so was very excited to try. The food was good and the service was quick but honestly not a fan of the whole right next to private planes + airport vibes. This is definitely specific to me so no judgement to anyone who loves this place! It's definitely worth checking out but personally, it was really loud, the planes were annoying and the smell of gasoline was just not it for me. If I do come back will likely eat inside. My friends and I all liked the food but there were some missing elements.. friend ordered a burrito and they forgot the sour crème and guac. I wanted poached but when I saw it - it was soaked in water which I don't usually find in poached eggs. However they were very quick to fix so service is amazing! This was my first visit to this restaurant. I consider it a hidden gem. It's located next to the Camarillo airport. No reservations needed. Upon entering we were handed menus by a friendly staff (how thoughtful). This place is busy, so plan ahead. I ordered the breakfast burger and my boys ordered similar dishes. My wife ordered a seasonal shake. The food was great. The views of the runway only made it a better experience! As for the staff, everyone is friendly, but Marcelo, who introduced himself to us to make sure we were doing well, takes my highest compliment! He was funny and warm. Thank you! Cute little cafe by the airport. The staff is friendly and very attentive and the food is delicious. The shakes are huge! And probably the best part of our meal! Get the omelettes in a skillet they are to die for. read more

This is a such a neat experience, has a good open ambiance a With the view of the airplanes at Camarillo Airport and the open back patio. Service is good and prompt, you place your order at the front and then you're seated and food came out in good time and warm. I got a veggie with cheese omelette with a side of bacon and a coffee. Friends got the pancakes I sample and it was delish! Great experience and great view of the planes. We got there at 8 am and we were seated promptly no wait on a Friday morning. read more
Stopped in for another visit and had to share an update. After a short wait we over heard the host talking about the fresh red snapper fish tacos. His description of fresh local caught fish, hand delivered in the AM, prepped and available only after 11am had me sold. The dish comes with 3 tacos, fried to perfection with the fresh accoutrements and a delicious crema sauce was absolutely some of the best fish tacos I've had! Served with "nacho chips" with their enchilada sauce and cheese melted on the the dish was absolutely fantastic! I also had to try their highly promoted dirty chai latte that tasted like fall in a cup! Vibrant notes of cinnamon and the chai favorites is the perfect drink for the season! First time visit. Sat inside however the outdoor patio looked very nice. Fast table service. Food came out fast and it was good size portions and tasty. Choice of sides with sandwiches and burgers. read more
This place is cute and atmospheric. Portions are huge, I only ate half, so honestly, you can even get one and share. The airplanes are visible from the dining area. Service is quick. Before you enter, you are waiting in the line and looking over the menu. By the time you get to the front desk, you should know what to order. Then, after ordering, you go to your table, and food gets to your table in the first 5 minutes. I would go again! And you should try it read more

I like how you order at first and then you're seated. The food was great. We had the buffalo chicken sandwich and the tomato bisque soup. Very tasty. The only thing I wished for was more airplanes taking off but the restaurant doesn't have any control over that lol. It was a nice and calm environment and would recommend. Will be back whenever in the area again. read more

I have been coming here for years with my family since I was college. The food and the service have been good usually. Over the years it got busier and honestly the service has gone down. I do like how you take the order before you seated, but I don't like how you have to tip before hand. The wait was an hour which I wouldn't mind if the food and service was good. The waiting option could be better;I would prefer if we could leave a phone number and then come back when it our turn and then take our order then and then be seated. That way we don't have to stand in the line especially in the heat, with a pregnant women and elderly parents it was getting warm. There is no where to sit while waiting in line. Also if a line is required to place an order the. To manage the line better because there was twice that someone tried to cut. If you go on a less busy day, it would be better. The place is cute and the outdoor you can see the airplanes landing which is fun to watch. The food is aesthetically pleasing and good. The drinks are aesthetically pleasing also and the drinks were delicious. I got the cinnamons rolls French toas combo which was soft and sweet. It was also crunchy on the outside.I also the service is okay. Once the order was taken and we sat down the drinks and food came fast but after that no one check on us. We didn't have anyone ask us if we wanted more water or to go boxes. There was a server who was there talking to another costumer for 5 minutes and I get it I was server too. Sometimes you get into a conversation, but our job is to make sure the customer are taken care of. We had to get our own to go boxes. Also we were a party of 6 and were put in booth, and it was uncomfortable to eat. We couldn't really move at all. The booth can seat 6, but it should seat 4 to be comfortable. Honestly I am not sure if I would come back just because it wasn't a good experience, the food was good but the service and the ambiance wasn't it. read more

First experience for a diner at a small municipal airport. First impression there's a full parking lot with line outside the door of maybe 50 people for a friday at noon. Line moves fairly quickly was in line for approximately 20 minutes before being seated. Ample amount of menus to look at while waiting. Ambiance inside is very nice with the options of indoor or patio dining just outside the hangars. Food service was quick and quality did not disappoint. Stopped by this place on the way to Ojai, and despite spending a whole weekend in Ojai, THIS is the best thing I ate all weekend. The Cinnamon French Toast might be a top 3 food item I have EVER had, and it was recommended to me by our host, so the staff here really know their stuff. Truly a 10/10 breakfast item, I fought the urge to finish it and saved half for the next day so I could try it again. Burger and fries were great too, as far as brunch spots go this is a must try. read more

One of the best airport cafe's I've been to--period. This place runs like a well oiled machine! There's always a long line, especially on the weekends, but the way their queue is setup is that you place the order BEFORE you get seated and they have you look at the menu while you're in line. This helps you get your food quickly and it helps them turn over the tables a bit quicker. Tipping prior to getting service is a little awkward, but overall; it just works. The milkshakes are killer, but SO HUGE (definitely share) and their salads are huge and filling. The enchilada omelette was delicious. Whether you're a pilot and you fly into KCMA or you live in Camarillo and come in from town, this is a great spot to watch airplanes and enjoy incredible brunch food (or lunch) and service! read more
The food at Waypoint Cafe is always so good. I love the Dave's Famous Chicken and Biscuits. It's everything you want in a comfort food brunch. It comes with biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, bacon, and hashbrowns. Safe to say, it's very filling but oh so delicious. The servers are so attentive and friendly, and the line moves pretty quickly. It can be long on the weekends, so expect a little wait. And what's cooler than having brunch watching planes and helicopters land? Not much. read more

Is it loud because of the airplanes?
I didn't find it to be loud due to airplanes. The restaurant was packed so the biggest sound issue was just other diners talking and clinking plates, silverware, etc. Nothing excessive, but definitely did not hear an airplane.
Does the restaurant look over the runway?
Yes it does outside is the best view of that but there are windows inside too.
Is breakfast served all day?
Yes but service is hit or miss. My burger was overdone and the person next to me was underdone. If you want a great breakfast go to Hidden Cafe in Camarillo springs. Traditional breakfasts and Hawaiian breakfasts.
Will you open for dinner Friday & Saturday night this summer?

Do you still offer chorizo and eggs breakfast plate; not the burrito?
When I went in January, it was a plate, not a burrito.
How long is the wait on a Saturday morning? Also, do all the outdoor seats have a good view of the planes coming & going? Or do we have to request those seats? Thank you!
The wait was about 15 minutes last time I went. All the outside tables will do, though the tables that aren't under the covered patio are better for spotting the planes coming in.
Do they offer to go/ takeout?
As I know if they don't. But, of course they let you take out the left over food after your meal.
Do they take reservations for Sunday brunch?
Unfortunately NO...but so worth the wait👍🏻
Does Waypoint allow dogs in their outdoor seating area?
Yes they do. We have brought our dog several times as long as he is on a leash. Also, there is a local older dog who wanders the area and comes and goes as he pleases. He belongs to one of the hangar workers nearby the restaurant. Everyone greets…
Do they have a room/ area for large private groups?
It doesn't have a large indoor space, however there is space outside that could probably be used but it depends on how large your party is. 10-15 people would work. Anything larger than that would be challenging I think. Inside, there is an area off…
When is the best time to come eat here?
Weekends are very busy but it's better before 10 or after 1 p.m.
