WOW!!!!! The rave about this place is completely true. Not a single complaint. I was slightly confused when I first got here but you simply have to wait in the line for a table. Yes the line is absurdly long but it goes by very quickly. We were seated after 25 minutes after a huge line. If you're only there for the food, and could care less about the planes, just ask to dine inside, they'll have a table for you so quickly. It's so empty inside since everyone wants to be outside. One odd thing is that you pay before you eat but it didn't mind me, just have your wallets ready. I ordered the Mayor Chorizo Burrito and Oreo Cookie Milkshake, my dad ordered the French Toast Combo. The food comes out so fast, we waited not even 5 minutes! My burrito was DELICIOUS!!!!!! So many sour cream and avocado (I love sour cream personally) the chorizo was juicy and was added generously, the potatoes were amazing, hot outside and hotter inside of the burrito. My milkshake was the best one I have ever drank. The Oreo are delicious, everything about the milkshake was just wow. My dad loved his eggs and bacon. He said the bacon is actually real, thick, chewy and crispy. The French toast was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is just so relaxing. The servers are quick, willing to help. Terrible. All this place cares about is getting you out the door as quickly as possible. You're not even allowed to order food at your table. Before you sit down, they run your card and expect you to know exactly how many water refills you'll want--apparently that justifies why they don't provide any real service once you're seated. The servers get screwed too, since management clearly tells them to minimize interaction, which means lower tips for them. Meanwhile, the customers are left with zero service after they've already paid. Save your money and go somewhere else. This place only sees customers as dollar signs, doing the bare minimum while pocketing your money upfront. They know their location is rare, so they think they can treat people however poorly they want. Don't fall for it. read more

My family and I really enjoy coming to the Camarillo Airport Cafe, the food and service are fantastic. My comment is that there are too many people that feel they can just walk into the entrance and totally ignore all the other people waiting outside in the line. The staff need to get a handle in this please. I made my self known to this couple who just walked to the front and even when I told the cashier she continued taking their order. Plenty of staff there today and maybe have someone monitor the line going forward. read more

The best place to take out of town friends. Such a gem in Ventura County and what great atmosphere and service. Have to call out Marcello who worked so hard to make us feel welcomed during the very long wait. Don't get wrong sometimes the wait is too long, much too long, but that's really how good it is. This is my go to place when company visits. When my grandkids are in town it's the only place they want to go to. The food is always excellent no matter what you order. The portions are generous and served quickly. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. The locale is interesting too. There isn't enough positive things I can say about the Waypoint. Only negative is the wait sometimes. I need to start coming here even when company isn't visiting. Why limit myself since I love it so much! read more

One of the best airport cafe's I've been to--period. This place runs like a well oiled machine! There's always a long line, especially on the weekends, but the way their queue is setup is that you place the order BEFORE you get seated and they have you look at the menu while you're in line. This helps you get your food quickly and it helps them turn over the tables a bit quicker. Tipping prior to getting service is a little awkward, but overall; it just works. The milkshakes are killer, but SO HUGE (definitely share) and their salads are huge and filling. The enchilada omelette was delicious. Whether you're a pilot and you fly into KCMA or you live in Camarillo and come in from town, this is a great spot to watch airplanes and enjoy incredible brunch food (or lunch) and service! read more

The food at Waypoint Cafe is always so good. I love the Dave's Famous Chicken and Biscuits. It's everything you want in a comfort food brunch. It comes with biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, bacon, and hashbrowns. Safe to say, it's very filling but oh so delicious. The servers are so attentive and friendly, and the line moves pretty quickly. It can be long on the weekends, so expect a little wait. And what's cooler than having brunch watching planes and helicopters land? Not much. read more

WARNING!!! If this is your FIRST time here or if you're with a large group make sure you review the menu because you will order your food before you're seated! Came here for a business meeting with a group of five and ordering before being seated COMPLETELY caught me off guard and honestly absolutely soured my experience from the get go. All five of us were caught off guard by this fact. So great start to a business meeting. We stood around awkwardly at the front as we all decided what we wanted to drink and order. I was hoping we would sit down, order our drinks, talk some business, order food, talk some more, then be good to go. Nope, just awkwardly stand around for 10ish minutes trying to figure out what everyone wants, completely unprepared. Food: Was remarkably bland. All five of us ordered something different and none of the five meals were good. They were all incredibly meh. My partner got the pumpkin pancakes and they tasted like they were made by La Croix. It was pancakes with a HINT of pumpkin. I got the chilaquiles and my biggest pet peeve is when they use chips out of a bag instead of fresh frying tortillas, the flavor was semi decent but it was ruined by the sharp hard chips versus the overly soggy chips drenched in sauce. The three other clients were also not impressed with their food. Service: Service was half decent as they did have a full staff. However, after we finished our food they left the plates on our table for 15-20 minutes before clearing them out of the way. It was infuriating as multiple workers walked passed and was willing to top off our waters but couldn't be bothered to pick up the empty dirty plates. Business complaints from an industry professional: Amex is not accepted here, which is wild because two people in front of us tried to pay. The illogical choice to do that when you have a Toast system that costs thousands of dollars but you draw the line at accepting Amex because what? It's too expensive? Wild. Also, why have and pay for the most expensive, top of the line point of sale system if you're not even going to use it or utilize its features? Don't pay for a Ferrari when you want a commuter car. Also, why in the world have people order at the front then sit down when it's a diner cafe and not a to-go taqueria? So much lost revenue opportunity by people not being able to add on drinks, sides, extras of any sort. Absurd. I can't imagine going to ihop or dennys and having to order before I sit down. In my personal opinion that ruins the entire experience for this kind of venue. Top 5 worst restaurant experiences I've had in my life. The only benefit of going here will be the fact that I can compare it to any other bad restaurant experience, "at least this time wasn't as bad as waypoint cafe" and then you have a good laugh. read more

Food was pretty good. Good options for both lunch and breakfast. We had one of the omelets and the turkey club sandwich. The sweet potato fries were delicious and perfect amount of crunch. Service was okay. We had to order at the counter before sitting with our party. That is a little hard to do when you have a couple little ones and meeting up with a group. Wish we could have ordered and sat down even. They require you to order with the whole party before sitting down. Again, just imagine when you have two babies you are also carrying in along with their car seat, diaper bag etc. I really enjoyed the ambience. Very disappointed. I used to love coming here and enjoyed the food. This time I went during brunch time and they were fairly busy but things were moving fast. We got our food shortly after being sat but rarely got checked on, had no idea who our server was. I ordered to go and waited nearly 40 mins for my order which I unknowingly saw sitting on the counter for the longest time. The eggs were over cooked and the bacon was burnt. You place your order at the entrance and then they charge you for your meal, there's a sign that say they are adding a service charge for the eggs because of the price of eggs. So, at least they should get it cooked to order. Then you pay the tip in advance, so you really don't know how the service is going to be. My service was mediocre at best, once I shard my opinion about how the eggs were cooked, I never got asked if I wanted a refill of my coffee. So, i paid in advance for mediocre service. The place is nice with it's aviation them, but this is way over priced for the quality of food and service. read more

My wife and I put our names down on the waitlist. About 10 mins later a couple walked up and was told by one of the employees the wait was going to be around 35 mins. A few mins later, another employee and host, Andrew, came out and hugged the couple and within a few mins they ordered food and were seated. We all remained outside, still waiting. I confronted Andrew about this and asked him why the couple (whom he knew) were allowed to skip the wait, cutting in line ahead of several other parties waiting. Andrew did not respond and blew me off. Alma, the manager, spoke with me and said she would find out what happened. My wife and I left and haven't heard back from Alma or Andrew. This is the second time Andrew has let someone he knew cut in line. The first incident was over a year ago and my wife and I confronted him and he lied about it. Andrew is unprofessional and doesn't have the courtesy to address his favoritism allowing people he knows to skip the wait, even after getting caught in the act. read more

First time here, I Ordered the bkfst burrito, and it was just perfect ... also had the cinnamon roll, and also it was perfect, loved the extra cinnamon sprinkled on top. We arrived here shortly after it opened and there was a line out the door. The way they have it set up is very efficient and appreciated as we had a child with us. Use your time in line to decide what you want, because they take your order at the door before you are seated. We choose to sit closer to the planes which was great because there was lots of space to get up and walk around if kids don't want to sit still while waiting for the food. It's such a cool atmosphere! You can watch the planes fly in/ leave and before you know it your food was here. I would say it was very solid breakfast food. Nothing to write home about or particularly memorable. Apparently they are known for their tri-tip which they serve on weekend afternoons till it's sold out (I saw them cooking this on our way out). I never thought I would say anything bad about this location, but my most recent visit was not great, a big line upon arrival was normal, the line moved pretty quick, you now order and pay before you ever sit down. We chose the inside, the music was so loud we could barely hear ourselves think, the food was great and there was almost no waiting period, no one checked on us until we were finished eating. I brought guests from Austria and I actually couldn't wait to leave because of the noise and the music. I've had Waypoint Cafe on my radar for quite some time and I finally had a chance to mark this place off my checklist. Ok, our mistake that we went on a Sunday before noon. This place was packed and the wait for a table was about an hour. Still, the staff/operations does a great job turning tables and they provided water for us waiting in line. Next time I think I'll hit up the mimosa bar in the back area while I'm waiting. At least we'll get something to enjoy in a shaded sitting area. Once we were seated the wait service was solid. The food was good and the portions were generous. I really enjoyed my corned beef hash which definitely didn't seem like it came from a can. The biscuit and gravy was massive and truly could have been a meal on it's own. Topped the brunch off with a mocha milk shake and I was ready to float away. Overall Waypoint Cafe is a great hidden (but not unknown) gem. If you're not pressed for time I would recommend checking this place out. read more

Aside from the delicious food, this place is fun so well. Very minimal wait time for everything and we came during a prime time of lunch when there were many people ahead of us. When they said it would be a 5 minute wait, it was hard to believe they could follow through. Amazingly, they made it happen. Right through the doors, you place your order and then get escortes to your seat. We sat outside by the landing and it was such a fun place to sit and see the different planes. The food came out so quick and the portions are pretty big. The food was tasty and definitely do not sleep on the shakes.
