Do NOT skip the mojo potatoes or the hash cake, they're both top-tier sides. Food is definitely the star here. In our experience the drinks are just OK. The lattes don't quite feel like cafe craft quality, but they do the job. They do a good cup of regular ole joe though. Service is friendly, welcoming, but not efficient. The staff tries their absolute best, but if you're in a hurry you'll need to waive them down each and every time. Weekend waits can be as long as 45 mins to an hour with you constantly having to check in on your status, guess that's a good thing! We love Old Town Cafe. We go pretty much every weekend and take our dog. We always joke it feels like a second home. The manager is AMAZING!!!! He is so so nice and we love talking to him and he is so sweet to our dog too which we always appreciate. Stopped by on a late Sunday morning for breakfast with my family and poodle. About a 15 minute wait since we had to sit outside, but as soon as we were sat we were greeted immediately by our server Marc. Marc was quick to get our 4 year olds food rung in while the adults browsed the menu. He was very kind and brought our dog a full water bowl. He gave us some excellent breakfast recommendations to share. We shared two lumberjack breakfasts which were HOT, tasty, and filling! Also shared a Mocha which was nice and hot and not too sweet (talking to you Starbucks) Overall a pleasant breakfast experience, highlighted by Marc's attentive and kind service! Not too sure if we just didn't order the right things or if it was an off day but wasn't a huge fan of my first Old Town Cafe experience. This review is strictly for delivery / take out and I'm always mindful that takeout is usually not going to be as good as dining it, but taste and quality should still be there. Based on some of the better reviews and pictures I think this is definitely a spot you need to dine in at as the food just doesn't live up to takeaway expectations. I will give credit where it is due, this spot has a stellar breakfast menu and we were impressed at all of the options. It was hard to narrow down a pick as everything sounded pretty good and the pictures on yelp made us hopeful. Also the food was packaged appropriately and no issues with the delivery. The order came correctly and all sides/sauces accounted for. End of the day giving three stars as the food just wasn't that great. I'd definitely want to revisit with a dine in experience and trying some alternative breakfast items. The patty melt was pretty mediocre and something I definitely wouldn't get again. Normally patty melts are served with American or cheddar cheese, they noted provolone which was fine but then in taste it didn't quite hit the mark. The burger patty was pretty bland and under seasoned. Also the bread was disappointingly soggy with not a great griddle fry that you'd expect from a patty melt. If you look at the pictures the grilling on the bread was pretty minimal, looks like it was put on a panini press for just a minute or two. The one redeeming quality of the sandwich was the grilled onions were tasty. The second dish was a sausage breakfast burrito. Pretty mid overall. But not bad. Just there are better competing burritos in the area. Also the wrapping could have used a little improvement as the first top of the burrito was all potato's and then no potatoes throughout the middle. Not a well constructed burrito as the bites were all different in terms of toppings. Saving grace of the burrito was getting a side of their spicy hollandaise sauce. Wow was that delicious! Dipping the burrito in this sauce opposed to salsa was fantastic! Tasting how good the spicy hollandaise was, I'm a believer that they probably have really good egg Benedict's here and the reviews seconded that idea. Overall not the best spot for takeout and again, maybe the choice in dishes wasn't in our favor. Would consider coming back to try out some other dishes but this spot won't be high on the brunch roster as of now. read more

Breakfast all day and tons of delicious options to choose from. I got the Irish Benedict with a latte, both of which were DELICIOUS. My friend got the Peanut Butter Banana Stuffed French Toast, which looked amazing and she really enjoyed. This place is attached to an Inn and there's plenty of street parking. There aren't a lot of tables inside and most are seating for 2, but there wasn't much of a wait. If there's a list, there isn't anywhere to wait inside -- we waited maybe 7 minutes in my car before our table was ready. Staff were very friendly and service was quick with excellent quality. We stopped for breakfast on a road trip, but if I'm ever in the area again I definitely would return. Bonus: the toilet paper in the bathroom was really nice! This small spot connected with the Capri hotel right here in the beautiful city of Camarillo, California gives you a home away from home type of feel. It's right on the boulevard in Old Town so you cannot miss it and please don't! I've been wanting to try this spot since I'm over into town about 3 years ago but never had the chance I walked by it almost weekly until finally I gave. Boy this place is not disappoint! What intrigued me was their monthly specials they advertise just outside the door.a chicken sandwich all kinds of goodies in it but I wanted breakfast but at the same time I also wanted the chicken sandwich. As you walk in you'll notice the limited amount of tables inside and outside on the patio which is good cuz on an average day this place is packed. As you look to the right you'll notice a dozen pictures of specialty favorites on their wall and immediately you're hooked. Any place with pictures of food on their wall has to be bomb. The hosts are great, really friendly and downright Camarillo residents. I added sunny side up egg and bacon to my chicken sandwich to give it a sort of pizzazz. It doesn't matter how long it take on this meal the chicken stays crunchy the whole time, I don't know what is breaded with but they know what they're doing. Fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with a delicious mild Chipotle aioli sauce. Of course the kicker I added, finally enclosed in between two delicious soft brioche buns! On the side I ordered some of the best garlic fries I've ever tried, they aren't too pungent nor bland. The trick is, as you're biting the sandwich to let the yolk drip all over your fries so that when you going take a bite of one you taste a creamy, soft, gooey drizzled garlicy fried delight. Please stop on by and don't just drive on the boulevard right past this place. The mocha latte with oat milk was just as delicious I am definitely coming back! Oh and by the way if you get too full and somehow you are overcome with sleepiness, go right next door to the Capri hotel rent a room and knock out. We all know that on a late Sunday afternoon cafes can be busy and wait times are longer. What we don't expect is to wait 5 minutes while in plain view of 3 employees and to be totally ignored. Well that was our experience. The cafe is small so we can see the kitchen staff and servers as soon as we walk in. We stand at the dais that says "wait to be seated" as servers and cashiers walk to tables and take orders right beside us. Not once did any of the three ladies say one word to us. Not "just a moment", not a " welcome"...nothing. One of the ladies came out to clean a table 2 ft to our right going back and forth and not looking in our direction. For at least 5 minutes we patiently waited for someone to tell us something, like can we get your names or tell us how long a wait will be. Finally my friend walked to the counter and the girl cleaning the table came back out to fish cleaning the table. My friend talked to her and came back to me and said "C'mon, let's go."The girl cleaning just told her there were several parties ahead of us. Again, no time frame of wait or offering to take our names. But we were the only party waiting to be seated. Mind you, had my friend not approached this woman, there is no telling how long we would have been ignored. It was the worst experience I've ever had going to a restaurant, let alone trying to eat at one. Can't comment on the food but the service was sub-par. So many great things to say about this place that I don't know where to begin. So I'll start with the ambiance. It was wonderful. We were seated on the outside patio which was surprising to us because we had no idea that the restaurant itself was part of the wonderful hotel. So that made the overall numbers of spaces to eat much bigger because at first glance we thought-wow not much seating ! The waitperson(s) was/were very polite and professional. Running some errands in the Old Town Camarillo area and wanted to stop for lunch. Old Town Cafe came highly recommended so we gave it a try. No problem getting a table on the patio at 12:30 PM on a Wednesday (there are only 4 tables for 2 on the patio - but we were the only ones eating outside today). Our server came by right after we sat down to get our drink order. I ordered a coffee. Then after my Yelp check in, I discovered the Yelp check in was good for a free fountain drink. I didn't feel like a soda so I wanted to apply the free drink to my coffee. Nope. Coffee isn't a fountain drink, so no deal for that. The menu included a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items. Eggs, waffles, pancakes, breakfast burritos, and some unusual breakfast specialties. We decided to go with traditional lunch items. A panini with a side of fries for each of us ($15 each). Boy were they good. And way more than we could finish (yup, left overs for dinner tonite). A very pleasant patio, excellent service, and delish paninis for a reasonable price. I got a side of breakfast potatoes which I thought were a bit bland with not a lot of flavorful as I like my breakfast potatoes a bit more roasted. My boyfriend got the Latin lover scramble with a side of hash brown. The scramble was pretty decent scramble with good flavor. Glad we choose old town cafe because my egg's Benedict was delicious I got it with bacon instead of the regular ham. And I must say I liked it a lot better with avocado.
