I recently visited B&J Drive-In in Saticoy to check out their renowned corn burritos. Several folks on Facebook's "I Love Corn Burritos" group have opined that these burritos are the best in town. B&J's menu proudly proclaims their corn burritos as "#1 in Ventura County," which is presumably the result of winning some VC Reporter "best of Ventura" reader poll. An order of four corn burritos costs $7.49. They took about 25 minutes to prepare. They are larger in girth than the Fosters Freeze corn burritos, and thus hold more refried beans. Their red sauce is spicy and distinctive with just a little more vinegar than I would consider optimal. Bare bones presentation with sauce and grated cheese and nothing else. Nice paper container (not styrofoam). See pictures. The chocolate shake was also well made and satisfying. This beloved local institution has been here for a couple generations. It's clean, well run and friendly. The owner was kind and friendly to my dog. I'd come back any time. And they have a new location on Main Street in midtown Ventura now.

Complete ass, way overcooked

I haven't been to this location in a while. So long that the last time I was there, they were serving piping hot corn burritos in styrofoam containers, where they'd burn holes through the bottom and you didn't know wether you were consuming melted foam or not. Anyways, I got a craving for some again, thinking ok, let's see what fuckery we have now. First glance when getting my corn burritos, was looking good, they came in a cardboard like material food box, no melting going on with that. Opened it up, and saw nothing but cheese, which was a plus. Times before you'd think the amount of cheese they put on the burritos came out of their checks, super stingy, not nearly enough. But this time, a good amount. First 2, of an order of 4, were good. Then we get to the next 2, which were stuck together and WAY OVERCOOKED! Absolute garbage. Like how can you box that up and serve it? This is the underside of the corn burritos, telling me you couldn't tell?

After Super Bowl Sunday, I was craving a greasy burger so my bf & I decided to go to B&J's. I suggest calling & placing your order ahead of time because the food can take awhile. Also, I would suggest taking it to go as there is only outdoor sitting & it is very limited. We called in and I got the Big Daddy combo with onions ring & my bf got the Old Fashion combo with fries. Then we got the asada fries to split. The burgers were okay. We live about 5 mins away & when I got home to eat, the burger was already cold. The onion rings were delicious, I highly recommend & the asada fries! The Asada was very tasteful. I think next time we will get one burger to split with onion rings & asada fries. But if you are craving a greasy burger, this is the place to go.

It's been 10 plus years since I stopped at Bjs drive in, but while working on a larger job near by and to keep the project on time I stopped by to get the crews lunch. There's definitely been a revival the place was packed at 1130 with a line to order and a crowd waiting for theirs. The menu still hectic as always combining atypical drive in grub of burgers and fries to the inclusion of Chinese food! Yup you heard right!! Including specialty items like a flaming hot Cheeto burrito and more you're sure to find something to enjoy. Plan ahead during those lunch breaks because it took 30 mins from the time I arrived to the time I got the order so if your tight on time for lunch you may try to phone an order in.

Burgers are good here, but the fries are better. Plus I see they have Patty Melts! I'll definitely be back!

I wanted to find a local woman-owned restaurant for lunch to celebrate International Women's Day today. I did a search on Yelp and I was really happy when this place popped up. I have been here many times, and I love this little indy hamburger joint. I had no idea it was woman-owned. Cool! Since I have been here before I knew I wanted to get here early. It gets hella busy at lunch. I rolled up at 11:15 and got a parking spot right in front. There were a few people waiting for their food, but no one in line to order. The hamburgers here are pretty good, but I wasn't in the mood for a burger. I wanted Corn Burritos. You can get Corn Burritos everywhere around Ventura. But the ones here are the best I've had. I like the sauce here, but I gets mine on the side. I'm particular about sauce application. I like to maintain total sauce control. So I ordered up my corn burritos and I also got a small order of fries. The french fries here are just about exactly perfect. Always hot and crisp, and real. Real, as in regular cut, no damn krinkle fries. Real, as in no damn sweet potato fries. Real, as in no stupid garlic fries. Just regular fries, like the Good Lord intended. I put in my order and stood around waiting for them to call my number. I felt pretty good about myself for making the effort to support International Women's Day. Then I thought some more and it occurred to me that I was celebrating International Women's Day by making a woman cook my lunch. That seemed like a weird way to honor the many important contributions Women make to our society. Oh well, my intentions were good. When they finally called my number the woman that handed me my food commented the Corn Burritos were made With Love. True that! I think that comment goes a long way in explaining why the Corn Burritos here are the best. It would be nice if all women got a day off work for International Womens Day, but of course, that will never happen. No, women just go to work and take care of their business like it's any other day. What they do contributes so much to our lives. And like the lady behind the counter here at B&J, they do it all With Love. Mikey C says: thank you for many great meals, B&J Drive-In

First, let me say I am not family to anyone that works at Spencer's although I am a long time customer. I'd like to point out how understanding my waitress was today, her name is Jackson. I received my food right away and refills when needed but I'd like to comment on the three women seated in the table next to me and how Jackson handled them. Kindly put these three were demanding and not very understanding of Jackson's time. The MANY times they asked for changes to the food, several other things they "asked" for Jackson kept her cool and quickly gave them what they requested. It's hard being a server and Jackson may have working at a first of second job (she looked 17-18) but she was a star. Well done Jackson...keep up the good work.

It was a solid grilled fish taco with not a ton of pomp and circumstance. Just unadulterated goodness. Fast forward to my recent visit - it didn't quite hit the same though I'm sure my palette has since evolved. The World Famous grilled fish taco ($7.95) was good, but was only made better with the in house sweet chili fire sauce. Of the things we ordered, I did really enjoy the ahicado ($13.75) which is ahi tuna mixed in lemon infused olive oil on top of avocado and served with wonton chips. I love a wonton chip situation and paired with the fresh ahi, it made for a perfect bite. The guy next to us ordered several Parmesan hard shell tacos ($5.50) so I did too (with shredded chicken). The flavorful chicken was perfectly shredded so you didn't get unmanageable hunks with each bite. These were unexpectedly very tasty. Highly recommend if you like a hard shell sitch. Judging from the lines at 2:00PM on a Saturday afternoon, Spencer MaKenzie's is a Ventura institution even if I won't be thinking about the grilled fish tacos n-e-more. PSA: dining on the patio is the move even if you have to wait.

I literally got boxed in and had to ask someone to move their car so I could back out. Secondly, me and my coworker stop here at 11:30am for an early lunch. There is literally 1 other person there who had already ordered and got their meal just as me and my coworker sit down after ordering. We ordered 7 tacos in total... 30 minutes later the food still hadn't arrived. I finally go up to the counter to see if something was wrong and the guy had no idea about our order and said he was sorry that they had a big catering order. As a former business owner I do understand that stuff happens and a large catering order is good for business but ultimately that isn't the customers problem. Especially the customer that is sitting there at your establishment. Rather than tell us while we were ordering that it might take longer than normal, they don't communicate anything and then don't even address the issue until I go up there to complain. Once that happened the tacos came out in less than 5 minutes which is even more upsetting since this is how fast they should have come out to begin with. The gentleman who I think was an owner did apologize and try to offer some free drinks which I politely declined as I knew I'd never be back again. I hope that this business learns to service the customers properly that are actually dining there and if there is an issue at least takes some initiative to address it on the front side. Most working class people only get a 30-45 minute lunch to begin with so it wasn't cool that we literally wasted 30 minutes just sitting there with no explanation. There are plenty of other good places around Ventura for lunch - especially for tacos. Won't be going back here ever.

The happy hour menu has a great selection of both food and drinks at really reasonable prices. We ordered the chicken tacos, the spinach and artichoke dip, and a drink, and everything was delicious. The tacos were flavorful, the dip was creamy and perfect for sharing, and the drink hit the spot. Service is pretty straightforward you place your order at the counter, and someone brings everything to your table. There's not a lot of interaction with the staff, but everything was smooth and efficient. One of my favorite parts was the atmosphere. The happy hour crowd was a nice mix of people, and the place had a fun, lively energy without feeling overwhelming. Since it was a warm day, my friend and I chose to sit inside. We had a spacious table with plenty of room for our food and drinks, which made it easy to relax and enjoy catching up. I ordered the special White Sangria which Is so good I had to order on repeat. Since it was Happy Hour, we also ordered the grilled chicken tacos for $8. We both thought those were tasty as well and their avocado salsa verde is the just like the one I make at home. Ambiance is well curated with welcoming outside patio feeling very open and airy with organic Boho accents and wood features. The servers were efficient but very friendly. Ten Tigers is legitimately a 5 Star - will Recommend highly! Since this review, we re-visited on a Friday evening and ordered the same drinks and meal. I can confirm the consistent quality of the food. This Friday night was hopping with several groups celebrating Birthdays. We lucked out and found one of the last open tables. The servers were very busy and took a while to clear off and clean our table - not a big deal because their priority is serving the tables and getting the food and drinks out to the tables.
