I can't believe my last review was 10 YEARS AGO! Oh my! Planet Sushi is my favorite sushi spot in Camarillo and so far probably in my top 5 sushi spots in Camarillo. I think people forget about this spot or don't realize how stellar it is. To have been frequenting this spot for the last ten years says something. The sushi is quality, the fresh rolls are to die for, great non sushi items, and the staff are always friendly. Sushi planet has some of the best fresh rolls around. Also the presentation is a 10/10 here. If you haven't been I'd urge you to give them a try because I always find their fish is super fresh and the rolls are more creative than other spots. They've been able to stay open all of these years because they have just really good food. I also like that when I don't feel like sushi or want some different types of dishes this place always hits. For sushi these are my favorite: - OMG Roll - Albacore Delight Roll - Scallop cut roll - Mexican cut roll - Salmon sushi is always fire If you are not in the mood for sushi I love their lunch and dinner bento boxes. Reasonably priced and comes with a lot of food. Pro tip: best miso soup in Ventura county is served here. Back to the non-sushi items. Here are some favs: - Chicken fried rice - seasame chicken (dip in teriyaki sauce) - Shrimp tempura The staff are always nice here and friendly. I like dining inside because it's clean and comfortable. Staff are always attentive and never a bad vibe in the place. I've also been a long time costumer because their takeout is always flawless. I usually order delivery or takeout from here every other month (for the last ten years) and NOT ONCE has my order ever been Incorrect. Like that's seriously unheard of. They really pay attentive to detail here and always make a take away experience a pleasant one. If I had to make one comment that isn't gushy about how much I love this spot it would probably just be that it's a little pricey for what it is. Definitely due to the cost of goods I've seen the prices go up over the years. Some of my favorite rolls are $20+ and I do get that's a little steep. I've cut back on ordering as much just because I can't leave without spending $40-50 here every time but it's good, what can I say. Sushi planet is thankfully my local favorite sushi joint and I'm happy to keep supporting them because they've never let me down. read more

The service was quick, we waited zero minutes for our table even on Saturday night, and had drinks almost immediately. The sushi took mere minutes to be served and was absolutely delicious! Came here with my husband for date night and the food and service was great! Our server was very educational and they allowed us to try different sauces before buying rolls. The mummy shrimp was amazing!!!! (Spiral potato wrapped shrimp). The tuna sushi was very fishy (sad moment) & the Final Fantasy roll was hands down the best roll I've had in a while (it's new to their menu). We also had an albacore roll with crispy onions on top (not in photos) and we were disappointed, the onions were completely burnt and sour, they were submerged and hard to pick out. this restaurant is placed in a great location, such as cute idea for a date spot as there are places to walk around. there is a small parking lot, but plenty of other parking spaces nearby if the lot is full. we went on a thursday evening and didn't need to wait for a table. there wasn't an abundance of seating, so i wouldn't recommend a party larger than 6. my family chose this spot for dinner after trying to find a sushi restaurant in camarillo. it definitely hit the spot. i didn't even get photos of all the things we ordered, but we were able to try 4 appetizers and 6 rolls! i would recommend the squid karaage. the crab cheese was just okay. the rolls were nice and big and were all pretty tasty. the menu had a lot of variety but we were in the mood for rolls i guess! the service was just right, not overbearing but attentive enough for a great experience. we were pleased to have a great dinner here for part of our family time! even my picky stepdad was satisfied and told us we chose a good restaurant! read more

Finally got to come here and it did not disappoint. Located just east of the Camarillo Outlets on a very trendy and busy street. You can also see it off the 101 freeway. It was a great night cap after some outlet shopping. It was close to closing times. And the staff were a bit weary but still friendly and attentive. The food quality was excellent. Serendipity played a role in my wife and me visiting this restaurant. We planned to have our "date night" at a completely different restaurant in "Old Town" Camarillo and when we parked in front of "Sushi Planet", we realized despite driving by the restaurant many times over the years we've never had occasion to stop and dine. This night we found street parking in front of the restaurant ...on a whim we decided to change our plans and were very glad we did. Firstly, to my wife and me, "Sushi planet" sounds a lot like "fast food" or "food court" sushi then a sit down restaurant with a some very interesting menu items. We've been to several sushi/Japanese restaurants in town and they have similar menus so we were happy to find some very different choices that we've never found at any other Japanese/sushi restaurant. We ordered: -Home Run:crawfish with spicy mayo on top of CA roll-very similar to what others call volcano-delicious ! -Tuna Taco: Spicy tuna, etc on a fried wonton: oh, so good! Very light -Venus: seared scallop with mushroom garlic sauce- the least sushi or Japanese item on the menu...you may find something like this at any restaurant that serves scallops-205% delicious Defiantly a bite for two people only. -Crispy Tuna-deep fried rice topped with spicy tuna and avocado. -Jupiter roll-sautéed shrimp with garlic butter and cucumber-another very un-Japanese item and yet delicious. I could have (or perhaps should have) licked the butter garlic sauce off the plate, it was that good. -Tempura Calamari as an appetizer The negative part of my review starts with the calamari...the kitchen was far behind the sushi bar. We got the calamar well after the other item...suppose to be an appetizer. Lastly, their service for a small reasonably staffed restaurant was slow and uneven at best. With many sushi/Japanese restaurants in town, this restaurant has many items that make it standout and yet offers items that are familier too. I've tried it a few times because their location was handy and wasn't in the mood to drive opposite direction to Masa but it turned out I better drive to Masa- which is not great but still better!! Sushi planet have too many Americanized rolls I won't be surprised will sell steak and chicken rolls , mozzarella sticks and chicken wings in the future! They had an appetizer that got my attention, spicy calamari with sautéed onions , that was good but it's very tiny and already around $20 Some other rolls that I've ordered they got too much rice and fillings and very little fish to the ratio! This place has kind of a weird atmosphere. I came here with my wife, she got some kind of tuna roll. Some kid was spraying the tables so it smelled like cleaner with the food smell. That wouldn't be a problem if the place was ventilated but it was Very stuffy. They need some fans or an open window! Staff were all kind and attentive, no issues there. My wife and I thought it was weird that this place was playing loud country music and had so many TVs on. It was hard for us to hear each other, and our hearing hasn't gone yet! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. You can see it from the freeway and it doesn't look amazing but when you actually drive to it, it's an adorable part of downtown camarillo. There's an ice cream place nearby. The prices were excellent and the sushi I tasted was yum. It's not Nobu ...lol, but it hits the spot after baseball. Will definitely be back. They are the best sushi I know in Ventura County (my research is not comprehensive). The non sushi Japanese food is good but not quite as good as the sushi, but when a place has sushi in its name I review based on sushi. The restaurant name is silly, and my bf and I would make fun of it every time we pass by on the 101. We finally gave up the snobbery and ate here, and the food was good! By no means gourmet, but the flavors were good and portions were generous. I did have one huge problem. OMG the music selection was hideously unsuited for dining. Think Rihanna ballads covered by a teenager with the shrillest voice, a little too loud, with the treble all the way up.
