Mika is a local gem and was my neighborhood sushi restaurant until I moved out of Camarillo. Their sushi is always fresh, and they seem to focus more on quality rather than quantity. My favorites are the Chirashi, assorted sashimi salad and various nigiri sushi. It's a small restaurant and can get quite busy during the weekend, so service may be lacking at times. When it's busy I find sitting at the bar is more effective because you can order directly with the sushi chefs. read more

Our party of 9 has dined here before, and we were seated almost promptly upon arrival. Our server was kind and helpful. Our orders included edamame, California roll, Dynamite roll, Crunch roll, Chicken Katsu dinner, Shrimp Tempura dinner, Seafood Yaki Udon, and more. Although my Yaki Udon was a bit saltier than I cared for, it was delicious. I enjoyed the edamame, shrimp tempura, salad, and miso soup. We would visit again if and when venturing nearby. read more

Aside from the warm great customer service. This is a small sit down casual restaurant. They have dine in or take out options. They do have happy hour during the week. Pricing range is anywhere from $10-20 max the food quality is amazing. I truly love most of their rolls. By far the crunch roll is it. First time here. This is a nice small place. On a busy weekend I can see how seating might be difficult. But this afternoon there were a few customers enjoying dine in, while I opted for take out. (I ate outside in the community patio area that is shared with other restaurants) I ordered the lunch A sushi combo. 4 pieces of sushi and a California roll. I was going to get the Alaskan roll, but chose this and was very satisfied. I'll be coming back so I'll get the Alaskan roll next time. For $14.99 I was given a piece of tuna, albacore, salmon and shrimp sushi, along with a California roll. You also got a small miso soup, which was delicious. The fish was fresh tasting and of very good quality. My least favorite was the shrimp piece. Although fresh and presented well I felt the taste was rather bland. Very easy to happen with shrimp sushi. I stay away from it for that reason. Perhaps I'll see if, for an upcharge, I can sub a different piece for it next time. This combo choice for lunch was the perfect amount and very reasonably priced. The sushi chef and server were both very pleasant and welcoming. I don't care to write reviews normally, but today is a special day. It's a day I will always remember as Getting Surprisingly Tasty Sushi With My Friend Rose in Camarillo Day. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the sushi chef, a cool guy casually jamming to his tunes whilst unknowingly about to deliver my taste buds to sushi flavor town. We shared 3 rolls: the yellowtail delight, dragon cactus, and lobster roll. Each provided a different profile: fresh and slightly tangy with the yellow tail, robust and savory with dragon cactus, and unctuous and creamy with the lobster. I gave 4/5 stars because the sushi was pretty good, especially for their prices. We tried the spicy tuna, yea it's actually on the spicier side than most places. The rainbow roll was ok, the Philadelphia was the only one that I felt overcharged on. Most places have that as a regular cut roll not specialty. The dynamite was pretty good but the sauce on top left me desiring something different. It just seemed super oily that I haven't noticed elsewher The fish was fresh, definite must for a sushi joint. To say I was ecstatic and can't wait to go back would not be true. But would I go back again? Yes, definitely. We also order teriyaki chicken for my little one but the chicken as tasty as it was was kinda tough. And the veggies were pretty raw and hard to eat as well. Hate to say this but I disliked my experience from beginning to end. The waitress made me wait forever to even try to take my order because she was chatting it up with the hostess up front (it was not busy at all). I ended up just getting up and ordering from the bar. The sushi was honestly terrible in my opinion. Though I feel like I'm picky with sushi. It was bad enough that I could barely finish it. They didn't even give me wasabi and ginger with my sushi so I had to ask for it. Ambiance was standard small town sushi vibe. When I got home I told my wife "I feel like I got robbed... " that's how terrible it was. I honestly never post bad reviews because I love small businesses. But on this occasion I am because I want other people to at least know what they are getting when they decide to go. There are plenty of other sushi options in Camarillo so if you like those I wouldn't try to add this one to your list. read more

Atrocious service, among the worst I've ever experienced. The server flat-out ignored my wife, served her last or not at all. I had to continuously get up to get something from the server or sushi bar. The server went at slow speed, with little or no care, and when we expressed our frustrations, the server offered no apologies and seemed unaffected. Wish I could give this place a 5 star due to this being my favorite sushi in the area but they are receiving 4 stars as they usually take long when I order takeout. I've gone multiple times and ordered takeout and every time I'm told that it will be 15 minutes but they usually take anywhere around 30-45 min. Mika has been our saving grace during Covid and over the years I've really found this spot continues to get better and better every-time I give them another shot. Covid Updates: Takeout: 5 stars! They are super efficient here. My orders are always made correctly, the food is fresh, the never forget the little sides like napkins, sauces, and chop sticks, and most importantly they pay attention to detail! With every order I'll ask for additional sauce or wasabi and they always deliver. So many of our local sushi spots overlook the delivery comments but not Mika. That is why they have easily become our favorite takeout and delivery spot. The sushi has really turned out to be fabulous. The rolls over the last year have been consistent, good portions, and super fresh/delicious! Walking in it's a very small but peaceful atmosphere! My sister and I sat at the sushi bar as I always find it more enjoyable to watch the sushi chefs work their magic! We order 3 rolls and one bottle of cold sake. - Jay Roll: Literally tasted so amazing I wanted to cry while eating it. Highly recommend this roll if you love an impactful flavor. The shrimp tempura was perfectly crunchy underneath all the flavors from the fresh fish and delightful sauces. - Yellowtail Roll: Very yummy. I'm typically not a fan of spicy tuna as the main filling (due to the texture) but this one had enough flavor that texture didn't matter. - Spicy Salmon Roll: Very interesting as normally I'm not used to having the salmon the way they filled it inside but this was very tasty and enjoyed it. Almost similar to the Yellowtail roll. - not sure what sake we got...but it was recommended by the waiter. It was quite delicious. I will note that they do not have flavored Sake/ soju or any Hot Sake (which is what I perfer) but the sake was good enough that it didn't bother me. Great recommendation. Also, they added this surprisingly DELICIOUS cucumber salad on a couple of our sushi rolls on the side! Would come back, especially for that Jay Roll but maybe for 2 plate of it instead! read more
