This used to be our favorite place in Camarillo because it was started by a real Japanese family and thought they would keep the tradition I hadn't visited them in about 2 months and at my last visit in December I was shocked at the price of small sashimi plate from $42 to $60 !!!! I should've had cancel the order right then but to my complete disappointment I went home to discover a 1/2 cup worth of fish arranged in big fluff of grated daikon radish We got robbed !!!! $60 worth of barely 10 pieces of tiny bits (only 6 of them were bigger -the cheaper fish , Tuna and salmon , the rest of them were small leftovers from making sushi. A terrible joke for longtime customers who supported over the years! I will never go there again. I pre-ordered a simple rainbow roll and went to pick it up 10 minutes later. Well they couldn't find the order, and then they realized that somebody stole the order from pick up. So then I had to wait another 30 minutes for them to make me another rainbow roll with no compensation, not even a free beverage or a small discount off the check. I was a bit surprised to see some extra garnish and neat presentation for the carryout -- as many places don't take this extra step for carryout orders. The sushi itself tasted fairly fresh, though the cuts of fish seemed a bit lean for me, and I feel that the slices could've been a bit thicker. We started with their hospitality appetizer. Tempura tofu with a light almond sauce. Delicious! Hubby ordered the firecracker roll, spicy tuna roll and the cucumber salad which was huge. All the food was amazing! They have their own flare on their food. Definitely a speciality. What a great experience. The service was attentive. The ambiance was neat. I Masa Sushi! Look no further than their lunchtime special bento box. For 15 bucks you can get a really filling delicious lunch. I totally rate their sushi rolls and given that Ralph's around the corner charges the same prices, if you are looking for a sit down restaurant atmosphere it is excellent. The service isn't bad. Food comes quickly and they are very accommodating. Not necessarily attentive, but that's not really a problem for me personally. The other nice thing is they don't pressure you to eat quickly. As a Camarillo frequenter and sushi lover, Masa Sushi has always been on my radar to try out. Today was the lucky day. Went with a group of 5 + a baby for some Tuesday night sushi. The restaurant was busy but we were still able to be immediately sat, albeit by the front door. Server came quickly and we were able to get our order in right away. They start you off with some complimentary deep fried tofu bites, not what I was expecting but they were good. Two people in our group had miso soup, which they both enjoyed. Beware though, they are very very generous with the tofu in the soup. Sushi came about 20 minutes later, we ordered about 10 different rolls but I'll only comment on the ones I ate. Tempura roll was great and the tempura crisps were plentiful and delicious. Their red dragon rolls and energy rolls also hit the spot. While I didn't personally didn't eat the Chicken teriyaki dinner combination, the dish looked tasty and the portion was generous. Only suggestion would be to turn up the AC, as it felt quite warm in there despite being by the open door at 8pm. Masa sushi gets my approval, I'll be back to try more! read more

Got the three dish option lunch special and the portion was so generous I could barely finish it. I chose Pork Cutlet, Sesame Chicken, 101 Roll. The cutlet was average but the sesame chicken was so tender and portions were great. 101 Roll was amazing and came with crispy flakes and I definitely recommend if you can handle a bit of spice from the jalapeño in the roll. 2 piece gyoza and salad also came with the special. Restaurant had a private and chill atmosphere and the service was great and food came out at a reasonable time. The special comes with miso soup and a small appetizer which was a great compliment. definitely recommend coming for their lunch special. I'm HAPPILY surprised to report they were no longer the size of a kid's pinky--they were full, proper slices, big enough to make me feel they listen to their customer feedback! I know it's an unlikely scenario, but IF you're tailing a suspect in an international espionage artifact smuggling ring, and IF that suspect stops for a bite at Masa sushi in Camarillo, California, do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES fall prey to the narrative that you should order some sushi to blend in while observing an artifact transfer three tables over. I certainly can neither confirm nor deny my objective during my visit to Masa, but I can highly recommend the complimentary fried tofu that led to other decisions that may or may not have future geopolitical implications. That delightful tofu led to some rolls, which were some of the best I've had in the past 10 aliases at least! I was so lost in a beautiful, meticulous, delicious sushi experience that I had to finish every single bite, regardless of whomever may or may not have been there that decided to leave unexpectedly. Very spontaneously we decided to try this place after shopping at Camarillo Outlet. Wasn't impressed with ambiance but after ordering few items, we kinda grew into liking the place. Service was very good the rolls are huge and the nigiri was the best. Good size cut very fresh. The tempura was fantastic. Prices for the amount of food is a bargain. OK, so this is my third time coming to Masa Sushi , when I placed my order on the phone, I was expecting the price that I seen on the photos on yelp but when I got there, it was a $10 difference. I should've asked how much my order was but due to being online I would've thought that it was $21 of course with taxes so when I got there and he told me my price, I was a little bit confused and I got to look at the menu to see how much it was and he got to saying hello are you there like I'm not standing right there trying to figure out why my price not adding up the food is OK but not worth $35. Our empty plates were always taken off the table right away and I felt impressed with how good the service was when almost every seat was taken. Lots of smiles and you could tell they appreciate the business. Super extensive menu here with so many wonderful options to pick from. You can 100% find something that suits your taste. Fresh sushi, awesome lunch combinations, rolls, soups, and more. Even your pickiest of eaters will find something. The sushi here is super fresh and really really tasty! My friend and I loved the traditional method of how they serve the raw fish with a hint of wasabi. And oh does their wasabi "slap" in a good way! Haha. That stuff is extra hot here but oh so good. My friend and I loved the kick of spice it added to each bite. Our rolls were super generous and they don't skimp on the servings here. Definitely a good value when looking at price to fish ratio. Every bite of sushi and the rolls were fantastic, really fresh seafood and good flavors. My friend and I will happily be back! So glad to see that sometimes when you try a place years later it can really surprise you. I know better now having eaten all around the world & appreciate good service paired with delicious food. In hindsight this place was probably always a 5 star worthy spot but reading my old review it was more the dining experience because of loud kiddos and being a broke teenager that probably had my review on the lower side. The guys are always making fresh sushi at the bar and the ambiance is cozy and feels likes you're there to chill and have great food. I do not know how they are at 4 stars. I mean for the kind of customer service you get, food, place, disgusting bathroom. I would give them negative stars. The server that was a tall guy is the rudest and most unprofessional I have ever seen. Terrible doesnt even describe the experience. My husband and I came on a Sunday early dinner since we were in the area and wanted sushi and this place had good reviews so we wanted to give it a try. Worst experience! food wasnt great, literally filled with Wasabi and the ice cream that was melted was something else! we got the Sushi Masa boat A which comes with miso soup and the sushi boat and dessert** what they dont say is that its just ice cream, which is fine but when you bring melted ice cream and treat us like were slaves even though were customers and paying for our food, this is not acceptable!!! so he just tosses the ice cream like that on the table and he mumbles which you dont understand a thing and leaves. that guy is on the phone the whole time. There was another customer who asked for something and this guy huffs and puffs! I cant! you're clearly lack the skills to treat customers properly! so he brough ice crem and left! so when my husband and I tried to eat it, it looked its melted. so now when want to get a server attention, but guess what, this guy is in the kitchen playing with his phone! so the chefs by the sushi bar I asked them, they called him. You are seated quickly and the staff are quick to serve you. It can get a bit loud when the place is full (which is most of the time) but you can still carry on a conversation. Ordered food for pick up for the first time and this place is alright in my books! They were pretty busy when I went (which is a great thing!) and I was attended to right away. We ordered quite an assortment of food and were happy with what we got! The beef udon noodle was tasty, the noodle still being perfectly chewy and the broth was well seasoned. The sushi we ordered was reasonably priced, the rolls were hearty, and the fish tasted great! The shumai isn't what I'm used to like at a dim sum restaurant, but we'll take what we can get in Camarillo. Seems like a fun place to dine in and we'll have to try that next time.
