Server Jack (looks like a surfer) is SO nice. Ordering was fast and easy, and we got the BIGGEST bento boxes I've ever seen. Soup, rice, salad, sushi, main course (chicken katsu) on extremely fresh greens, tempura, and some orange slices for dessert. Note the size of the cucumber. My husband and I love this place! This is our place of choice when we have our dates. Food is amazing, the spicy edamame is so good, my favorite is that sashimi! And the price is really reasonable. When we go there haven't been too many people dining in but there was a lot of calls and orders being placed and picked up. The owner is really attentive and friendly. This place is so sad. Went in to blaring mariachi music at a sushi place. Unacceptable! The sever didn't know if they used real crab or not they had to check with the management. Took many minutes for the management to come over. Ask about a sushi roll if they had salmon roll she didn't know that either. GETTING HERE: Yokozuna in Oxnard is located in the shopping center on Oxnard Blvd. next to the Planet Fitness. It is next door to Hook, Line and Sinker. You might want to turn into the lot right near the AutoZone. REVIEW: First-timer, and as my Dad would say, it's "Not too b, a, d!" - it was a good dining experience for Happy Hour and my guest and I timed it perfectly, as there was only one other group in the restaurant. The employees did greet me and told me I could sit wherever I chose. I placed a roll order as soon as I was seated and when my guest arrived we ordered several more. :) The vibe inside is enjoyable and service was prompt and attentive but not too overbearing. The happy hour menu is a good value, they did seem like smaller rolls though. Our server was excellent, our food was good. The interior is good, Staff was friendly. It was pretty quiet for 6:00 PM but better then fighting crowds. We got a Dragon roll, a Mexican roll and Shrimp tempura (the tempura roll fell apart) all were from the happy hour menu. read more

This was a very bad experience. This is a crunch roll and it has no crunch. I had not eaten all day and I was so excited to eat this sushi and it was a let down. I saw online this was $8.95 so I was ready to pay $10 ish total. I confirmed the payment on the menu and in front of the sushi place had all the prices and it was $8.95. I get there and I end up paying over $15 !! He said prices gone up and I felt guilty walking out since he already made the sushi ready to go. It was my least favorite sushi ever. read more

We came here last night with a very large group. I believe there were about 20 of us. They handled everything very well. I had the 911 and lion king roll. I enjoyed both of them. My husband had the tuna sashimi and said it was ok and it didn't look anything like the picture. We added the banana roll just for fun and it was fantastic! I didn't expect it to be so good. They kept up with all the beers and saki orders being thrown their way and made sure all of us had the correct checks. You can tell they really care about their customers. I absolutely LOVE coming here !! I grew up eating here whenever I wanted subís (almost every day) Yes it's a little small but oh my is the food amazing!! My go to order is a lemonade, an order of gyozas and the baby lobster roll. If you don't like seaweed you can substitute it for soy paper. It doesn't taste like anything. They don't café how much you eat. They won't ever judge you at all. I always give at least a 15% tip when going because it's not easy dealing with picky customers. Oh, and of course the service is amazing! I'm not sure how to spell the woman's name but Aylin is very beautiful and so polite. Jun (or June) is the sushi chef and he is just chill. I never went to this restaurant before, but Jun knew me within minutes. He had the instinct of what I may, or may not, like. I ended up closing the place and enjoyed his company with my buddy. Came in on a Tuesday lunch hour, and was severely disappointed in everything. The waitress was rarely around despite it being very slow, and she didn't check up on me until I was nearly done with my meal. I ordered a roll and calamari tempura. The roll was good! Thats what the two stars are for. The calamari was sooo soggy and gross it made my stomach hurt. Terrible service! Went for lunch on my lunch hour, took the young server over 20 minutes to come clarify the order I repeated to him twice! People that had been in the restaurant before us didn't get their food until after we were leaving, without any lunch! He only table that did get served had incorrect orders. Another couple left without ordering because it was so long.... Only 4 tables with customers on a Friday lunch hour. I had to leave without any food, after 45 minutes, so I could get back to work! Sad sushi. The sushi was basically inedible. Service was not much better. In fairness, when we pointed out a problem, they corrected it as quickly as they could. The bright spots are the mushroom miso soup and the fried tofu. If that's all you're eating, it's a good choice but nothing else we had though. Those two items are what bumped to the review from a one to a two. Even the water tasted like chemicals. Place was clean, but pretty brightly lit in a somewhat industrial way, and there were multiple TVs, including one that was blaring commercials at us for our time there. So Jun is an amazing guy, and is there every time I go. He has always been very conversational and since I have been going there, asks about my kids, how the family in general is doing, and just genuinely cares. Our family has been going there for about 6+ years, and always amazing food. I really dont know what some of the others are complaining about. I imagine the service was possibly an issue during COVID days, but who's wasn't? The reason to go is the quality of the fish... and its always spot on. Never had a sushi or roll we didnt love.
