Authentic! Great service . Very busy on Friday during LENT. Great view, Great drinks

Came here for the Salmon Roll, left after eating the Eel bowl and a happy man. The entree is called Unaju and comes with miso soup and salad. The meal was delicious, not overly flavored but you can still taste the combination of the eel sauce, eel meat, and rice. The eel meat was soft and melts in your mouth but still had parts where it's crispy meaning it was grilled perfectly. The crispness with the sweetness with the eel sauce combined with the umami flavor of the eel was enjoyable. The dish is a bit pricey but what isn't these days. I would say I would have preferred to have the eel sauce to be a bit lighter as to be able to taste the eel better.

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time, we have only ever gotten to-go before. It was a wonderful dining experience. The sushi was incredible, so tender and fresh. The service was great and so attentive. We felt really welcomed by the staff. We split the Crabby Heart Attack and I ordered Sushi Combo C. The Crabby Heart Attack was an explosion of flavor and so filling. The salad and miso soup that came with Sushi Combo C were great and all of the nigiri was unbelievably tasty. We also ordered the Fresh Wasabi which was such a wonderful addition to every bite. I will definitely be ordering the fresh wasabi everytime from now on. The vibe was great, lots of people for a Thursday night, lots of regulars who were chatting at the bar and being super familiar with the staff. Parking is easy, there is a big shared lot. When you are waiting for a table there are about 3 chairs outside.

Ordered online for takeout. For the type of seafood that are in these rolls (imitation crab, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna etc) I'd say they are a bit overpriced. However the portions and size of the rolls make up for it. I really enjoyed the mixed seafood tempura, for $16 it was enough for two with some leftovers. We were definitely full and satisfied with our order. It was super busy close to closing on a Saturday. Would order takeout again.

Friendly staff Cute small space, but clean. The food was good. Had the dynamite roll and the lobster tail hand roll. The close from 2 to 4:30 pm so plan ahead with the hours. The parking lot seems to be busy all the time near the restaurant, so plan to park in the spaces further from the restaurant.

What can be better than sushi? Sushi by the water. Anaba is a great sushi restaurant located at the Seabridge Marketplace and serves great sushi. We were in town on a Sunday and decided to treat our friends here. There was a wait, and we took it as a good indication the food would be worth it. The staff was friendly from the start. They estimated our wait time would be 20 min and they were pretty spot on. Our group of 6 ordered a variety of dishes- tonkatsu ramen, salmon collar, yellowtail collar. I ordered the chirashi. They presented the dishes very well. My chirashi was beautiful. And everything was fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend it. If you want some great sushi, this is a great place to check out.

Highly recommend if you want a variety of sushi to choose from. They have great drink menu as well.

Salmon Delight was fresh, light and spicy altogether. Exactly what I anticipated based off the menu photo. Side of cucumber was a cool palette cleanser. Service was good and efficient as the waitress came to offer service in timely manner, whether needed or not. Ambiance was good for a busy Tuesday but overall, this was a good experience. Would come back

Great sushi spot. Lots of parking in the parking lot and a good amount of things around the plaza. We had some standouts with the crispy tuna rice and the el diablo roll. They were soooo good. Peter was making the sushi right in front of us and he says he makes the el diablo hot sauce himself. The hot sauce was so so good and the crispy tuna rice had so much tuna on top. Cute restaurant too with plenty of seating. Didn't have to wait long to be seated. Bathrooms were clean enough , though the ladies soap dispenser wasn't working (not a big deal though). Overall, awesome sushi spot !! Oh and huge shout out to Peter :) Great sushi making & overall nice guy who conversated with us a bit.

Food was excellent and came out in a timely manner. We got the Golden Tiger Roll and Anaba Roll. They had the dodger game on and faced us towards the marina. Bathroom was 5/5. Also had a urinal and toilet separate so I could split no. 1 and 2 if necessary. I hate hand dryers, and we were offered both options. So that was very kind of them. My only qualm was that the door did not have a StepNPull. Otherwise, a great bathroom. Please note that this was the men's side. Would come again!

The Boat. It was a delicious as it is beautiful.

I've been to Anaba plenty of times. Usually with my son. This was the first time we tried "The Boat." It was fantastic. Sitting at the sushi bar is our usual spot. The chefs are first class and very attentive.

Been here a few times and has always been a good experience, at least for me. It can get busy sometimes with 20-40 min wait times but worth the wait. Sushi is always fresh. Service is excellent. It's just pricey. Golden Tiger is delicious! My partner doesn't like raw fish but he tried it and loved it! He even got it again the second time we went. 10/10 Wooley Roll seems to be pretty small and cut thin compared to other rolls. Still tastes good though. It has blue crab and eel in it. 7/10 Rock N Roll was good aswell. It has salmon and shrimp tempura with creamcheese. 8/10 Miso soup wasn't too salty it was just perfect so was the edamame.

Sushi sushi sushi... ANABA.... So good every time! Food check! Service, check! Ambiance, check! This place is so good! We had appetizers, drinks, sushi, the works. If your looking for a nice intimate sushi date night, I highly recommend Anabas! Even the restroom was super spacious and clean. Good job staff!

Everything we tried was good and fresh. The place is not fancy at all. The service was excellent despite the fact that it was pretty busy and one server (Ariana?) handled everything including a stream of Door Hub/Grub dash orders. She was hopping! She warned us that the food could take awhile but it wasn't too long until we were eating. You can't beat cold beer and steaming noodles on a blustery New Year's Eve. We will be back.

I ordered the chashu ramen which did have a generous serving of 5 pieces of pork. But omg they were so TOUGH. It felt like I was chewing forever. I think leaving the pork in the broth longer made them less tough but wow, that was a jaw workout. I was surprised that the ramen didn't come with the usual beansprouts and bamboo shoots but each place is different. I was a little annoyed to pay $2 to add them on additionally but I understand that some people may not like those things in ramen so it is an overall good idea to charge separately. Okay service. My friend and I didn't order any drinks, just had water. But it was a hassle to get a refill. I had asked twice and made multiple attempts to move my empty cup to a more strategic location to signal for water. But eventually my friend just got up and asked for me. I'm all for a fun workplace environment as long as it isnt distracting from actual work responsibilities.

After a long day on the beach at Oxnard our family stopped by on a Sunday evening for a quick dinner before driving home. The restaurant is seemingly the only survivor left in a strip mall food court, leaving, after sunset, an almost eerie feel with the restaurant taking up one corner of an otherwise empty courtyard. We ordered and our food came quite quickly. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen ($13), which was quite poor; while the proportions were generous the broth was off and the ingredients melded together a bit too much, like a stew kept on for too long. The dinner bento box with teriyaki salmon ($17) was decent though, with great tempura vegetables, excellent fried gyoza, and good, if generic, salmon and spicy tuna maki side. We also got the B.S. II roll (whatever that stands for; $14), a California roll topped with cooked scallops and shrimp and spicy mayo. We've had many variants of this before (my spouse being a cooked sushi fan) and this was fairly mid, as the foodies say these days. A special note should be said for the service; our waitress, while quite busy by the end of the evening, attended to our needs, added on drinks later, and even put on the game at my request. Value, listed above, I found to be quite favorable. The food quality was limited, yet this still made for great budget pick. My expectations weren't high for this Fisherman, but he met them. The steady stream of pickup drivers and other families who came to that empty mall are telling, however. This is a stalwart, stubborn shop in a dying mall - an adequate, budget-friendly sushi place for the people. I can appreciate that. Food: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 5/5

The wooden counter, cute decor and menu make you feel as if you've been transported straight to Japan. Fishermans sushi is a hidden gem known to those who grew up here and to those who stumbled upon it by chance (like me). The last man standing in a ghost town of what I imagine was a once bustling food court. It's a real testament that they've been able to stay open all these years. This restaurant has character that's for sure. Inside are eager chefs and friendly service, even after all these years. The prices are still insanely reasonable too. My friend and I split a sashimi boat for $45. That was six varieties of fresh fish, each with five large slices of sashimi. HOW?! In this economy?! Grateful that they can serve up fresh sushi at such reasonable prices. Their classic rolls and fried appetizers are also fantastic. My friend and I would both highly recommend their shrimp tempura. Fried up fresh, the batter was crispy and delicate. For rolls, go with the Fisherman's house roll as it was garlicky with a good sauce and fresh. We had a really good time here and definitely feel like it's a well kept secret to those who weren't born and raised here as for lunch it was pretty dead inside. Yet a lot of the locals love it and rave about this spot. Definitely worth checking out, we had a good experience and loved the old time vibes of this place.

Feels very contemporary and not like a darker wood ambiance of more traditional Japanese sushi places. This place must generate most of their business from their super packed HH. Once 5pm hit, it got noticeably busier, and by 530pm- fully packed. Sumo is maybe one of the few places that allows takeout of their HH items because they know how crowded they get. That is generous of them. I think their prices are among the most affordable for HH sushi around this area and everything was fresh. I am not picky sushi rolls person, but I would guess their sushi quality is average, made for mass consumption and general public, not for people who really want Japan level top grade sushi/ sashimi. Service: it all depends. Most of the servers are college aged young women. So a lot of them huddle and talk during busy HH time while they constantly scan the busy entrance for new diners. It can take awhile for someone to actually come take your order; we were lucky our server was pretty sweet natured. But in general I don't get the vibe that most of the servers are very focused about their jobs. But with busy HH, warm and friendly service isn't a priority. We're here for the HH deals and fresh affordable sushi. For these points, Sumo delivers. The ambiance: modern and bright, not my first choice. I prefer more low key settings. I think if I came to eat solo, eating at the sushi bar would be a pleasant experience, if I came before 5pm rush.
