Fire roll & shrimp fried rice

The sushi here is consistently good & fresh which keeps us coming back. Probably one of the best in Ventura. But the service... very very slow... We waited over a half an hour for our rolls & the restaurant wasn't even completely full. I don't know if the girl just didn't send our orders in right away or? It feels like the servers that work here don't really care.

$150 worst experience ever. 40 minutes in, You know you're in for a long haul, when you have to ask for your salad. Watching other people seated after you, pay their bill, while you only have your beverage in front of you. While having to ask for beverage refill. Meanwhile, later into the evening, you can hear staff yell at each other, asking where's your order...horrible customer service.

I do really like the lovers roll here. I was pleasantly surprised how much the thin sliced lemon made the flavors pop. The service is pretty slow, and I didn't love that everyone's food came out about 10 minutes apart from each other. In total, it was about a 40-minute wait until I got my roll. But other than waiting, the rolls are yummy.

    Excellent sushi.

We ordered their sushi throughout the pandemic. The food is always great. This is a small intimate restaurant with cool umbrella lighting. They have a huge fish tank. I'm pretty sure none of the sushi comes out of there:) The staff have always been pleasant and welcoming. We love the rice-free rolls... the Mike, the Rincon, and the Red Rose... they are delicious and guilt-free. The fryer is up front, so the cooked food smell kind of takes over the restaurant. It has never kept us from returning, though. The sushi has always been fresh and perfectly prepared. We come here or order take-out often.

NEW FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT OF MINE. After living in Ventura for a year now, I'm happy to have found them. Love the fact that they are at the intersection of Seaward and Main and easy to find. Parking can be located along seaward or you can find parking at the rear of the resteraunt by the alley way. We made reservations on Yelp for a Saturday and when we got in at 7pm, they were busy. We took this as a good sign and our server seated us right away and was extremely helpful. We decided to order the miso soup, a vegas roll, and a Asian beauty roll and it was all so good! Our food was out within 10-15 minutes of ordering so that was a good plus for us. Very fresh fish which was a huge plus and their flavors were very rich, subtle yet bold. Vegas roll was the star of the night for us, would have to rate that a 9/10. The Asian beauty roll would have to rate a 8 out of 10. Overall, we can't wait to come back and try other items. Menu has a good variety of speciality rolls so we will be coming back for that. Thanks seaward sushi for the good food and hospitality. Please be sure to support this local 805 buisness. You defenitly won't regret it.

Finally came to Seaward Sushi after having it on my list for a good while and I'm glad to have discovered this quaint little spot. There are two sides to the restaurant and both are very limited in seating so it is good to make sure there is space beforehand. There are a few parking spots in the alley behind the restaurant which is great to have. The decor on the ceiling is beautifully decorated with fans and there is a large aquarium in the front window which is fun to look at if you grab the table right next to it. The server was very friendly but the wait was very slow, even though there were only two other parties seated at the time. However I believe they only had one sushi chef working and the presentations were beautiful - you could tell he truly took his time on each plate that went out and the fish itself was incredibly fresh and delicious. I would absolutely come back here but only if I am not pressed for time so I can feel relaxed. We also got a couple rolls and they were both delicious

    Veggie special

Staff is super sweet. Local, not overcrowded spot. I love the veggie special for $15 because it fills me up. As a vegetarian at a sushi place, sometimes I can only get 1 roll but this is perfect with the tofu!!

    Cruz roll and avocado roll
    Monica N.

Really great sushi spot. The sushi tastes super fresh and melts in your mouth. They have rotating specials on their menu board in addition to normal menu items. My favorite is the Cruz roll. Lunch bento box is insane, it came with SO much food. Rice, miso soup, choice of protein, CA roll (or spicy tuna!), tempura, an egg roll, AND gyoza. I've been here maybe 4-5x, only one time for dine in. My dine in experience was nice and leisurely, my friends and I enjoyed beer and sake while our food was prepared. Stop by when you have time to enjoy your dinner but not if you're in a huge rush. My takeout orders were placed during the weekend for early dinner or weekday lunch specials and the wait time ranged anywhere from 20-30 minutes. They are super nice and even call you back to tell your food is ready for pickup.

    Spicy tuna over crispy rice
    Julisa L.

I enjoyed the spicy tuna over crispy rice!! It was so delicious, and everything is decently priced. I also had the miso soup which was a great appetizer. The staff was super friendly, my only complaint is I wish the seats at the bar were chairs, the stools hurt my back lol. But otherwise I will definitely be coming back :)))

My husband and I came on a Saturday and was quoted 35 minutes for a wait. I recommend going to the bar like us if you want to skip it. Sally's sand dab - 5/5. My go-to for a reason. It's lightly breaded with capers and a nice garlic and Parmesan sauce. It's not too heavy and is always so tasty. I got it with the pineapple coleslaw and butternut squash. I would probably sub the butternut squash with fries or another side next time. Charbroiled oysters - 5/5. I didn't get it this time, but these are a must have and my favorite. If the texture of oysters are less pleasant to you, this helps a lot while giving it a lot of flavor. Sea bass - my husband got this from the daily catch with the potato cake and spinach. He said he enjoyed it but would opt for something else in the future considering the smaller portion of the sea bass. Overall, this is a really nice restaurant to bring family and friends too. It's not overly expensive and the portions are good.

REVIEW: First timer here (what.) and it was so good! Quiet, not too busy on the day we went (during the week). I remember in my baby years of Yelp I used to note that a restaurant was "good" if it was busy. Post-shutdown and currently 2026, it's OK to me if it's ghost town inside. :) We ordered the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries. GREAT! The chowder had nice flavor and was thick, and the clam pieces were tasty. The bread was warm and soft, so full of flavor. Service was good. Love the vibe inside, too. Love the decor and the entire vibe. As much as I love seafood, I can't wait to go back to try their other menu items. Thank you for a great meal. Highly recommend!

There was no wait, and we stood there for about 10 minutes without being helped. Finally, a waitress came over around 8:05 PM and told us they were closed at 8 and couldn't seat us. That doesn't make sense--if you close at 8, you should still be seating guests before that time, especially when they've been waiting and there's no line. The lack of communication and basic customer service was frustrating and unprofessional. It wasn't about the timing it was about how it was handled. Standing there with no acknowledgment and then being turned away last minute is just bad service. Definitely not the experience we expected.

Open since 1981, this local staple has been around a long time (and in this economy) impressive! I've always walked right past this spot but somehow ended up next door getting tacos or simply walking down the pier for the views, I truly didn't realize how fabulous this lowkey restaurant is. When you walk inside you order at a counter, so it's semi casual in that way but otherwise, everything about this place feels "wow" because your getting 5-star restaurant views of the ocean while paying $$ (reasonable). I picked a cute little short bar style seat which essentially was "premium seating" overlooking the beach and the ocean and honestly, it doesn't get much better than this. The staff from start to finish were super nice and welcoming. They had a solid kitchen team so the food was all made fresh to order but came out quick, making this a solid spot for a quick lunch break. The gentlemen taking my order was friendly and helpful when I had questions and needed recommendations. If you're looking for alcohol, they have a separate counter/bar where you pay & they take your drink order. The bartender there was lovely as well. Nice people, 5/5 service. The food was honestly fantastic and rivals any other seafood spot in the area. I'd also give the food, Portions and presentation a 5/5 as well. Here's what I ordered: Mai Tai - Boozy, fruity, and basically a vacation in a glass. I'd recommend this cocktail if you want something strong but fruity. Popcorn Shrimp - Crispy, flavorful little bites with that southern-style batter that I love. I subbed out the cocktail sauce to pair it with their tartar sauce & that choice was chef's kiss. (Tatar sauce over cocktail all day everyday). Ahi Tuna Taco (staff recommendation) - Light, fresh, and LOADED. Super fresh seared ahi, crunchy veggies, and an addictive wasabi sauce. Oysters - Freshly shucked and you can't leave without ordering a dozen...or two. Their rotation of what type of oysters they have does change regularly I think I read but when I came in the smaller west coast oysters were great. Meals like this remind me why living here feels like paradise. There's a reason these long time local favorites stand the test of time and it's important that we continue to support them so they'll be around for another 40 years! Cheers to Eric Ericssons, definitely a highlight meal for me this year.
