This is the most unprofessional RACIST establishment I've ever been to in Oxnard! And I've lived here over 30 years!i placed an Uber eats order and did not receive my meal in its entirety. I called the restaurant to resolve it and instead of hearing me out, i was met with disbelief and hostility. I asked to speak to the manager and the owner got on the phone. I attempted to explain my issue and he kept telling me i was wrong and it was Uber's problem etc. I then asked him to log into the Uber Eats app himself so he can see what I'm attempting to describe. He declined to do so. And the call disconnected. I called back and asked the manager if i can text him or email him a screenshot of my itemized receipt. He yelled at me and said "i don't care what your receipt says and if you have a problem you can come up here!" I drove up there and asked to speak to the manager and showed him my phone with the itemized receipt from Uber Eats. He snatched my phone and slammed it on the sushi counter. I asked him for my money back and all he did was argue with me about how it's Uber's fault and not theirs and they were not going to refund me anything! I pleaded for him to look at my receipt and he kept ignoring me and insisted on showing me the menu. On their menu the 3 item bento box is $13.95 On the Uber app it is $11.95 I kept trying to show him this and he refused and asked me to leave!! Then he called the police on me and said i was an irate and aggressive customer! When he noticed me take out my phone he said "Don't write any reviews with that racist shit. Don't play the race card!" Imagine that, as if black peoples keep a deck of cards in their pocket and at any inconvenience we just whip out the race card as if it's a get out of jail free card. The moment i walked through the door i was treated with immediate hostility and unprofessionalism. I stormed out in tears. The police were driving in as i was pulling out the parking lot, so yes they really called the police on me. *****UPDATE******* Uber Eats contacted me and refunded my entire order! Amazingly fresh sushi. We had the two specials one with California roll and one without. Came with miso soup and a delicious assortment of sushi. The rainbow roll was unique because it had a shrimp tempura base, most do not. The neighborhood is a little sketchy but i think that is why their prices are so good and they are able to keep their costs low. The servers are very nice and attentive as well. We will be back. I love this place. A few years ago, my friend and I used to live in the apartment building just down the street and we would come here every other Friday. That's twice a month. 24 times in one year. We never once got sick of coming here. This was our first stop on our payday. They got used to seeing us all the time that when we would walk in, our favorite beers would be waiting for us because they knew we were coming. Asahi for me and Sapporo for her. Cut to a few years later, and I was craving sushi and couldn't figure out where to go. I was meeting up with her my sister so we compromised and decided to come here since they were still open and unlike all the other places that were closed early due to the holidays. My sister and I came in for a late lunch yesterday. We both got out of work and came straight here. We were both so hungry that we ended up ordering a ton of food and just split everything in half. Best decision ever. Started out with baked mussels (fantastic) and the mixed tempura (a personal favorite) and cleared the plates. We decided to share three other orders. The first one was an order of tuna sashimi, second the lion King roll and the dynamite roll because I always order that when I'm here. Everything was eaten. When I finished, I looked at all the empty plates and said whoa. I love this place. The service is great and the food is always on point. I don't even know why I don't come as often as I used to do. Trying to find a good Sushi restaurant in the Oxnard area continues to be a challenge. We tried a few and have yet to find a really good one. Throw Yokozuna in the same category. When you roll into a restaurant during prime dinner hours and there's hardly anyone in there we should have known this might not work out so good. But, I'm wiling to give them a try anyway as our Uber driver speed off into the night. Bon Appétit folks! Good things- Plenty of room at the sushi bar (there's no one there) Beer is cold! Sake is hot! Shrimp tempura was nice. Nice staff. Prices low. Cool metal fish sculpture next to the Sushi Bar Not so good things- No Japanese or Korean Sushi man to make our sushi. Sashimi served on the warmer side and did not taste all that fresh. Spicy Tuna roll was about twice as spicy as I would expect. Too hot! Crab hand roll wasn't doing it for me either. We both flat out didn't like the Albacore roll. Neither one of us got sick or anything like that. Wow this place is nothing short of a great experience! Stopped in here after a car wash for a snack and decided to wait for their amazing happy hour menu. Tons of sushi, small plates, and drinks to choose from at almost half the price. Both sushi chef and waitress were so accommodating. Everyone sitting at the sushi bar seemed to know each other and it felt like a local neighborhood spot, very welcoming. We ordered the Mexican roll, baked salmon California roll, and Philadelphia roll. All were perfectly sized, plated, and equally delicious. Could be my new favorite spot. Came to try this place for the first time. Our waitress was nice. But when we got our order it was not like the description said. There were items inside the rolls missing. Extra items on other rolls. If I had a food allergy this would be a major problem. When I let the waitress know she called over the owner. He was just making excuses and said we would just bring me the missing ingredients on the side. We asked for them to be remade. They did and still was not what the menu said they would be. If you're ever in Oxnard California You got a try the Shrimp Killer Roll at Yokozuna Sushi (2075 N. Oxnard Blvd.) While I was making the trek back from Vandenberg SFB to LAX I got a hankering for some Sushi so Google it and this is one of the closest places that came up. Decided what the heck I'll give it a try so I drove to the location, saw it was in a little strip mall and thought oh no, but I was hungry enough so I thought I'd try it and I sure am glad I did. I ordered the Drunken Tiger Roll & the Shrimp Killer Roll. The Drunken Tiger Roll was excellent however the Shrimp Killer Roll was the most AWESOME Sushi Roll I've ever eaten which is saying a lot because I eat Sushi frequently and I've eaten Sushi all over the world including Japan. Right now I'm trying to figure out when my next trip to Vandenberg SFB is going to be so I can stop in at Yokozuna and have the Shrimp Killer Roll again :-) read more

First time going to this sushi place, at first the prices that are listed on the window are incorrect, they increased the prices by $2.00 or so. The prices are expensive! The sushi portions are very small, it also doesn't have enough rice because it makes the rolls come undone or apart. We ordered 4 rolls in total but the main issue I had was with the baby lobster roll (I think thats what it's call), first off it had too much sauce, and it had practically no lobster. It did have a ton of little shrimp ( which is weird cause it didn't mention that on the menu) and once again very small portions. We are talking about half of a regular roll from like -oh sushi, - wincos, - kabuki.... Ps. If you order a crunch roll.... don't be surprised when you get a tiny amount of crunch ( like sprinkle amount). I called in an order for 2 kids bento meals, 1 chicken teriyaki & 1 salmon teriyaki. The man who picked up the phone answered with a "Hello!" which threw me a little, so I asked "Is this Yokozuna?" He replied yes. Per the website they have a happy hour from 3-6, so I asked if it was happy hour. He replied that they no longer do that. I had remembered from years ago that their kids bento box portions were very generous. So at $7.95 ($8.95 for salmon) per the website, I ordered 2. When I showed up to pick up my order, the cashier said it was almost $28. That made no sense to me, but I handed over my card nonetheless, and asked for my receipt. As I was turning to leave I noticed that I had been charged the adult meal prices per the website. I turned and asked if they had given me the kids meals or the adult meals. They said that they were the kids meals. So I asked why I had been charged for the adult meals. That's when the man who I'm assuming had picked up the phone earlier, (there was no one else in there) said that the website prices were 8 years old. So I said "Well then you need to take that menu down." He replied that they've tried to contact the company that made their web page and it no longer exists. I said to him, "I recommend that you do something about that, because that's false advertisement." and turned and left. I was annoyed, but wasn't too bothered since I expected to have a very good and generous meal once I arrived home. Unfortunately, I was disappointed once again. The salmon portion was literally about 2 inches long and about an inch wide , and looked like it was freeze dried, definitely not fresh. The "teriyaki" sauce tasted like honey, that had been dyed black, nothing like any teriyaki sauce I've ever tasted. The tempura breading was strange looking and chewy, not fluffy and crispy like it's supposed to be. The tempura sauce looked like watered down soy sauce, without the salt and with added sugar. Again not what it is supposed to taste like. The rice and the miso soup were good so I'm giving 2 stars based on that only. I recently moved to the neighborhood and I'm very disappointed, because I had planned to frequent this restaurant a lot more. I'm very reluctant to ever go back there at this point. I don't know but seems that way to me. We really weren't ready to order but picked a few items that sounded good and didn't really go over the menu as good as we would have wanted to. The service was great except it took them a bit to bring the bill out. The fish was fresh with good sized portions but it all lacked in flavor, the seaweed was even flavorless. There was just something missing like the sweet smell of fresh wasabi. Some of the dishes had so much going on you couldn't even taste the fish. I've been to Yokozuna with my family about 4-5 years ago and I can definitely voucher that the ambience and food has changed to my dismay. From what I remember, old Yokozuna was smaller, well-lit, and had a warm cozy atmosphere where there were a couple to a lot customers occupying the tables and seats. Last night, the new Yokozuna expanded (great to see that they did) but the restaurant was almost empty (2-4 patrons besides my friend and I) and had dim lighting (romantic effect?) where I felt no cozy feeling but exclusion from the hostess and sushi chef (apparently the only two workers running the restaurant). The overall service was good and our rolls were served right when they were finished being made (unlike Sumo where they deliver all your rolls at once). We ordered The California Roll, Salmon Roll, Tuna Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Green Monster Roll, along with 2 bowls of miso soup, a Coke and 2 rounds of hot sake and Sapporo beer. Surprisingly, the rolls kind of tasted dry for the most part but we really enjoyed the Philadelphia Roll (did not jib us on the cream cheese) and Green Monster Roll (shrimp tempura and avocado deliciousness). Since we came during happy hour, I thought our dinner would be a great deal but our total came out to $51 :( I know I've paid less than that at a happy hour sushi dinner elsewhere but for the quality, it didn't hold up to the price. Yokozuna's sushi back then had quality but not this time around. Fun times though sake bombing and getting our sushi on last night but it hurts seeing how Yokozuna isn't the same. First time trying Yokozuna sushi and it was better than expected. I got the sashimi cocktail as an appetizer, and the tempura udon and albacore delight roll as the main course. I am really picky with how the Tempura Udon is usually prepared because most of the sushi restaurants have the noodles too over cooked and have other type of vegetables inside I am my very fond of, however the tempura udon at this place had just the perfect amount of noodles that were cooked properly and not too much other vegetables added on to the soup. We stopped here on our way to movie at the collection. They have good service and really delicious rolls. The Katana is simply awesome, topped with lobster and something like dynamite sauce. The Lion King is really good with a creamy sauce with the sauce they put on unagi (fresh water eel). I have been here 3 times now and not been disappointed yet. The owner comes up with different kinds of rolls you may not see anywhere else. We left full. These are the true ingredients: Gobo, Japanese style egg, Kempio, Japanese cucumber, Dembo(pink Cutle fish) rice mixed with your secret rice sauce then rolled in black seaweed. This traditional recipe comes from Little Tokyo and our family restaurant in Hawaii. But your recipe was close, we still enjoyed our meals. and great service. read more
