Ok. I ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner which was supposed to include miso soup and was excluded. The chicken teriyaki was minimal, the mixed tempura add on was dry & did not include any sauce. My husband loves this place. There are lots of sushi places in Oxnard run by all nationalities, this guy is Mexican and really knows his fish. He worked at a sushi bar and has successfully opened his own place. This is a neighborhood, welcoming and friendly atmosphere and not a bad place to watch a Dodger game. I was not in a sushi mood and had Yaki noodles with chicken; if there is a next time, I will just have it with vegetables. Big fat noodles and perfectly cooked veggies, lots of carrots and the chicken was dark meat and not too flavorful. It is a mild dish. The sushi here is consistently good and fresh. Don't look online for prices here. Way overpriced. I got the Red Dragon roll and the super Cali roll and a cucumber salad. The cucumber salad had absolutely no flavor, the red Dragon and super Cali roll or not as good as grocery store Sushi which isn't very good. For the two rolls and a cucumber salad it came to $59!!! Totally my fault for trusting the prices online. My advice is don't bother with this place. It's horrible. Great sushi spot near Oxnard State Beach! They have the market cornered on sushi from all the beach goers. We came here after sun bathing and playing in the water. We were both tired and hungry and found this spot on Yelp. They had outdoor seating and were taking to go orders. We got the spicy tuna and spicy albacore, an eel roll, the Genmai roll which had brown rice, tuna, salmon and yellowtail and was wrapped in soy paper and a few others. It took maybe 15 minutes - there was maybe 3 people working. People came pretty consistently. Two teenagers ordered after me and asked for it to go to take to the beach. We got our food and since it was an hour drive home, we ate a few rolls at one of their outside tables. Very delicious and fresh! Would definitely come back next time we're at the Oxnard Beach! read more

Zero stars . Placed my order through here "Yelp fulfilled by Grubhub" for pickup . It goes through, charged my card and confirmation received . Show up 25 mins later to get my food to be told they are not taking Grubhub orders . Why ? Who knows?!! but seems because they don't feel like it. They tell me to call Grubhub and cancel it as they refuse to honor my perfectly processed order. They request I let them take my order there and not through Grubhub . Yeah right ?!!! The server took a while to take our order but I understand because he was the only one and I'm a server myself. Everything came out at a reasonable time. I must say the gyoza Omg it's a must try just amazing. I love the cilantro roll #1 for sure but the magic roll wasn't really my cup of tea. My boyfriend did like it he said "it was alright" space is limited due to COVID. The server had his mask over his mouth but not his noise. Also he wasn't wearing gloves. This place has been in Oxnard for a while although I never been .Under a heavy recommendation from a employee of mine that lives close I stopped in for lunch today. I first must say I love supporting small businesses since I am one in VC . My head mechanic and myself walked in and first thing we noticed it was a decent size place at the same time only one other table was occupied and at noon it was a bit odd. Our server was good and took our drink orders very fast. We looked over the menu .Since we never been we ordered more food than we could eat just to sample what they had . All the roll descriptions seemed to have very different ingredients so we chose the sweet and spicy the surf and turf, the freshwater eel, and the baked green mussels. The food came and most of the rolls were very obviously made with tons of k Krab for filler to bulk them out . They almost all tasted the same with a couple exceptions ,one that had a bath of ponzu and the Surf and turf having grey overcooked beef strips on it . The teriyaki sauce on that roll tasted of a supermarket generic brand with zero pop in it. The most expensive roll at over $20 it was a dud .That roll should be less than 10 bucks and even then not tasty at all There was another roll besides the eel which was poor but it was forgettable. The signature sweet and spicy roll was about as exciting as store bought sushi. The mussels came out and although decent there was only 2 on the tin foil @ $10.95 . Any other spot that would charge that much there would be at least 4-5 count. The whole meal was low grade the quality you would expect at a 15 dollar Asian buffet spot per person. At $112.93 for the whole bill plus a tip we should have went to Anaba Sushi down the road that place is awesome . This wasn't a total nightmare of a lunch the place was clean and the staff was nice but the food which should be 80% of what someone is looking for was low quality.this should be a hard pass for anyone wanting a sushi fix. If you're in the Ventura area Kibo and Sushi Fresh blow the doors off this place! read more

I had to ask another worker to get our drinks and our piece mailed order left little to be desired. I'm a fan of small business! This place is a little Gem in Oxnard, CA. Come here with a large group because, there area allows you to bring the entire fam and friends! Happy Hour is awesome! This review is based on lunch service that encountered on a Monday morning around 11:30am. I walked into a completely empty sushi restaurant and as I entered there wasn't the traditional greeting from the Masa behind the counter. I was a little hesitant when finding out there was a Mexican run sushi restaurant in Oxnard. Being of Asian decent I was a little weary but thought that I could never expand as a culinary writer if I didn't expand my horizons. I decided to take the risk and sat down for an experience. The waiter was quite helpful and courteous. I was informed that if I had any questions to please let him know. I had my traditional order at any Sushi restaurant which is a Dynamite Roll (a flashy California roll with fresh baked scallops on top drizzled in a light mayo) and then being new to this establishment I decided to take the waiters suggestion in regards to a house roll. He suggested a Fierro roll that I immediately agreed to. Edamame within 4 minutes and my sushi order within 9 minutes. If you're around this location for lunch it's a time saver allowing enough time to catch up on emails, phone calls or chit chat with a friend. The waiter brought each roll individually and I was delighted to see each roll presented well in my Dynamite Roll and the over all look of the Fierro roll was well presented. I cracked my sticks and began to dig into what I can only describe as spot on flavor. The only words or suggestions I can make to this Oxnard staple is the Dynamite Roll is traditionally broiled to finish off the scallops and the tradition of sushi goes back 700 years where certain practices like the greeting opens up ones restaurant to the guest arriving. It is our first time trying this place and Never coming back! Bad service, sushi is not fresh and my child's chicken teriyaki had hair on it!!!! C'mon! First of all I called and ordered for pick up, I got there and stood there for so long and no one even greeted me or told me " I will be right with you". The restaurant was NOT busy at all for them to ignore their customers. Finally, I had to say "hello?! I'm here for pick up" mind you both the girl and the guy server kept walking in front of me and answering calls and just purposely ignoring the fact that I'm standing by the door. Next, their "Baked" lobster roll is NOT baked and it does not look like any of the other baked lobster roll I've had at other restaurants. The size of their roll is about the size of a California roll, SMALL!!! Salmon roll is also so small and it does not taste fresh at all. Crunch roll is not crunchy, crunch roll is suppose to have the crunchy flakes all over it. The worst part is the kids meal chicken teriyaki had hair on it!!!!!! and the only thing good worth mentioning about this place was the kids meal portion is big.
