Ozeki noodle is located in a strip mall with a few other eateries. The inside is homey and you immediately feel like you are having lunch at your Japanese grandmas house. We ordered the tempura udon and the katsu don, both items came out fresh and hot. The tempura were well fried and the meal felt like a warm hug. I do wish that the tempura was a slightly larger portion, so it will be better paired with the large bowl of udon. Overall, it was a delicious meal and we will be back again. read more

I had my order to go. It was a short wait because I ordered before I got there and they had my order ready by the time I got there. The restaurant looked nice but I wasn't in it too long. There was plenty of parking when I got there. The food itself is packed in a plastic bento type of box that separates each part of the meal. I got the galbi lunch special. The slices of galbi are pretty thin but I liked the way it tasted. The portion of the whole order was just right as well. I would definitely order again for a quick lunch order. read more

Ozeki has been in my rotation for years. I L.O.V.E. being able to order pick up. Ozeki and Netflix goes well together. Chicken Yakisoba with a side sunomono salad (Japanese cucumber) marinated in Japanese rice vinegar with a pinch of sugar...delicious. Yakisoba, means "fried noodles" in Japanese. It's a stir-fry with buckwheat noodles, vegetables (carrots, onions, cabbage) and meat, drizzled with a savory, slightly sweet sauce. They garnish it with pink, pickled, ginger, which I request extra of in my dish. The BBQ Beef Bowl is outstanding. Love the flavor of the meat! It comes with grilled onions and mushrooms, served on a hot bed of rice. It's similar to the Korean Bulgogi flavor...if you like that staple Korean dish. Why have you all let me sleep on this spot for so long? I had one of the best lunches I've had in a while here and who knew that I'd find amazing Japanese food at a little Oxnard strip mall restaurant?! If you are like me and have driven by this spot a hundred times and not bothered to step in, hurry up and turn around to make your way back because this place is phenomenal for homey comfort Japanese bites. This restaurant gives very mom and pop vibes with cute decor and excellent service. The restaurants decor was inviting and cozy but still spacious to accommodate a good sized group for a lunch or dinner rush. Service was 5 stars hands down. The waitress who took my order and bussed my food out was really nice and attentive. I was impressed at the pacing for the food as everything came out in good time. If you are coming on your lunch break it's good to know you can get in and out in 30 minutes, but they also don't rush you. The menu was bigger than I expected with a lot of great options. They have rice bowls, teriyaki, sushi, bento boxes and more. A nice variety. I was super hungry when I came in here so I luckily got to try a few of their popular items. Started with a miso soup which was super tasty, simple but made right. Alaskan roll: spicy tuna roll topped with fresh salmon. Delicious for a simple roll. The salmon tasted fresh and the spicy tuna had a good little kick to it, was a tasty roll given that they have a limited sushi menu. Some rolls and nigiri but definitely more of a specialty in their rice bowls. I had the tempura shrimp rice bowl with onions and eggs. Omg was this bowl full of flavor, great textures, and they don't skimp on the toppings. This shrimp Don was 5/5! Was one of the best dishes I've had in a while, it was simple but so tasty. I loved the sauce and texture that the crispy shrimp brought to the soft rice and eggs. I've been craving this dish since I left that I'm eager to get back here soon. From top to bottom this place gets an A! The ladies who work there are kind and helpful. They recognize us and always remember what we order. In fact the last visit I forgot to say no rice and extra veggies and she asked me if I wanted the rice or the usual veggies. That's the type of service that makes you feel welcomed and like someone sees you more than a number but a true customer. I generally don't eat much red meat but I love their beef bowl! The beef flavor is excellent - not overpowering, slightly sweet and tangy with onion. The sauces on their salad (the creamy one) I want to put on everything and their fried food even tastes fresh. Always light. I like their casual ambiance but still in a restaurant vibe (not fast food) as it strikes the perfect balance. It's always clean and there is a good amount of seating. This place has always been consistent with their meals and customer service. Headed over for dinner after a day of work and a rosary service. We arrived an hour prior to closing and were still welcomed and seated in a friendly manner. The place is always kept clean and plenty of places to seat. We came for katsu Don and a couple appetizers which were served generously and at the appropriate amount of time. My favorite is still the bento boxes with salmon but the katsu Don was perfect dish as comfort food. read more

Rude people terrible service. Went with me and my son here and the staff just treated us terrible and kept giving me and my son stares. Mind you it was just my son and I. He's 2, he was acting up and I was just trying to feed him. We were out. Literally such a terrible situation to be in. I would never come back. Several things to mention on this review. My family and I have a long history of coming to this small restaurant for lunch or dinner. It's been our go-to for a while. It's changed over the last couple of years to say the least. 1. Not sure if their AC is broken but it's always hot and humid inside. I've mentioned it to them several times and they say they will take care of it which they never do. We end up finishing our food by the time we complain again. 2. The service. It has not been the best the last couple of times. I always talk my family down due to the "restaurant business" side of things. I truly understand how servicing tables and rush hours are. This place is not it anymore. The service takes so long even when the place is empty. The waiter, owner, or whoever they are, are rude. They walk away from you. They talk over you. They are just not great services. 3. Lastly, the way their prices are set. The last time we dined in, we were sat down by 2:49p. We ordered our drinks immediately. By about 2:54p, we received our drinks and asked the waiter to order. She's asked us to give her a minute. She walked away and walked to the next table. She eventually came to take our orders at 3:00p. Because it was 3:00p, the 'new dinner price' had to be added. I asked the waiter why they couldn't honor the 'lunch special' since we were sat down and our drink order was taken well before 3:00p. She declined in a rude manner and would not honor it. She stated that it doesn't count because the time starts until you place your food order. That's odd to see any business have those types of business practices. I told her to cancel the whole order $120+ and just charge me for the 1 lemonade I ordered. I left the place and paid $5 versus the $120+ I would have ordered. Bad for business. Not professional. Bad business practices. Safe to say my family and I will not be giving them our business anymore. It was good while it lasted. read more

This is my go to place for a warm bowl of soup. I know it might seem intimidating, but give it a try. I've tried many of their dishes (Tori Udon, Nabeyaki, Curry udon, Hiyashi Gomoku salad, and more) and everything is always super yummy and doesn't disappoint. If you are eating-in be prepared to feel a bit awkward. This place is super quiet and you can at times hear other people's conversations. And I'm pretty sure they can also hear yours. It would be nice if the owners would put some music or turn the TV on- just to make it less awkward. read more
