I am basing my review on 1 visit, during lunch. There wasn't a line so I was able to be seated immediately. Ambiance- seating inside is generally small tables close together and the dining area is on the smaller side. An open kitchen area is behind the counter, but they also have more kitchen space behind in the back. They layout really reminded me of Tokyo Ramen houses that are designed for solo single eaters (as a lot of Tokyo casual dining is). During my meal, the majority of us at tables were solo eaters, only 1 other table had 2 diners. So I imagine if you're a larger party it, it may be hard to get seating at busier times due to smaller number of tables. Ordered- Tokatsu ShuShu ramen. The noodles were springy and bouncy. The broth is creamy and tasty. I still think I really enjoy Silverlake Ramen's Tonkatsu broth (I don't know what their secret ingredient is that makes it unique) but URamen's is still satisfying. I had 4 pieces of Chashu, 1/2 of a seasoned soft boiled egg. The yolk is seasoned in a very sweet sauce- interesting taste. They add a wonton crisp which is unusual for Ramen bowl! I would've like nori crisp but that's ok. Service- One server was taking care of the lunch crowd. The owners are Thai, and I believe the server is also Thai. She was quite polite. Usually I think most Thai restaurants offer that super kind, and humble service to customers. (I say this as Korean Ame, it's noticeably different than immigrant run Korean or Chinese or Vietnamese restaurants) I do prefer the taste of Silverlake Ramen, BUT they have even more limited seating. The parking and access here is easier and quicker than going to the Collection Annex, so I think this is another solid Ramen place. My family loves stopping here whenever we're heading back home, it's become a tradition. The ramen is out of this world. The broth alone is so rich and flavorful, I could honestly drink it by itself. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and you can tell they put care into every dish. The pork, noodles, and that perfectly cooked egg are my absolute favorites in the ramen. It all comes together like comfort in a bowl. The place is spotless, and the staff are always so friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. We make sure to arrive with empty stomachs because we know we'll want to eat a lot and leave with our bellies (and hearts) completely full. What a nice little place. I bit tucked away around the back of mall type space adjacent to a large class A office building. There is no real street visibility. So first timers look for "Vineyard Café" and "Hamburger Habit" signa U Ramen hits the mark on many attributes: Ramen is very good, nice broth, reasonable number of choices short enough to show focus on freshness and quality. Service is very friendly, attentive and efficient Very clean inside (all be it a bit spartan) as is the generous parking lot and building itself. I got the shu shu ramen. The broth and noodles were good. I also got the cheese pocket and gyoza appetizers. They were heavy, oily dishes that were over fried. The gyozas were drenched in chili oil. Lastly, I got the Thai coconut drink with boba. The drink was fine but the boba was completely stuck together- usually indicating that it was old. It was borderline undrinkable because all the boba got stuck in the straw. This is more of a self service/ take out restaurant with expectations to tip. You are expected for the most part to serve yourself with getting your own waters and leftover containers. The servers do not check on you. read more

The service was lousy and not helpful. There's almost no broth in the soup. Why have a soup if there's no broth that's the whole flavor. Finally made it to U Ramen which I've been dying to try for some time now. This ramen spot is very traditional and cute when you walk inside. Welcoming vibes from start to finish. We came for a late weekday lunch and surprisingly the tables were filling up quickly. When we arrived only one other customer was there but by 2pm most of the tables were filled. Impressive on a weekday. The restaurant itself is small, only about 7 tables BUT they have a long bar area that can easily fit another 5+ people so for being a small spot they can get you in and out. Service was really good. Their was only one waitress when we came but she was hustling tables and going back and forth no problem. It's a lot of work for one person but she had a smile on her face the entire time and was really nice throughout the meal. You can tell they value your business here and want to give you a good experience. The ramen was a solid 4 stars. Delicious and nice to try some new varieties / their own flavor profiles of already popular ramens. My table ordered the tonkotsu ramen (shu shu) and shoyu ramen. Both ramens had good reviews and presentation was on point. A solid amount of toppings and a yummy broth. My broth wasn't as rich as I typically like but still really good. Seeing as they were 3/3 with our order I'd feel confident coming back to try the coco ramen or upgrade by adding some dumplings into the soup. The sides in the ramen were tasty though, solid marinated eggs and my pork was cooked to perfection. Lastly, don't sleep on their teas! We had the lychee iced tea and peach iced teas. So refreshing and perfectly sweet. I love a good fun iced tea. A drink and ramen runs you about $20. You can't beat it. Food here is great and service even better. We have been wanting to visit U Ramen for a while because we see them every time we visit our eye doctor in the Morgan Stanley building. We are glad to have finally eaten there and it was worth the wait. The shop is small, so be prepared to wait. It's not a big deal because lots of great ramen shops require waits. Venue: It's small, but beautifully cultured and creatively decorated. The tables are a little close to each other and only a few tables can hold 4 guests. This is not a place to come to with large groups Service The staff was very nice and attentive. We were seated in a timely matter (about 20-30 minute wait) on a Saturday night. Every table was full, but our waitress was very concerned about our wait so when we did get seated, she took our order quickly and brought out appetizers quickly for the kids. We even asked to customize a few orders in order to leave sauce on the side and they honored it. There were lots of to-go orders being taken at the same time and the line server was doing her best to tend to take-out and dine-in guests. Food: This was the highlight of the night. The ramen broths were smooth, warm, and not too salty. I liked the spicy miso, but could have handled it as extra spicy. The takoyaki was good and my kids even liked it. The mozzarella cheese corn dog was tasty and had a nice, sweet breading. The tofu nuggets were also good, so this is a good alternative for vegetarians. The kaarage was standard, but a kid-friendly selection. Overall experience was good and we will return. Maybe on a less busy night, if there is one. In the mood for ramen and searching for hard to find vegetarian broth options, we stumbled upon U Ramen and decided to give it a try on a cool Saturday evening. Plenty of parking and we were seated immediately. Other than the fact that it felt like the AC was blasting on a January night, the small interior was simple and welcoming. We quickly decided to order the Spicy MIso Ramen with Tofu and Garden Ramen. Both arrived very fast in large steaming bowls. I thought the Spicy Miso broth had a perfect amount of heat, my husband added several spoonfuls of U Ramen's home made chili crisp to his bowl, heating it up to a higher level than he expected. We both drained the bowls, leaving not a drop of soup or a morsel of noodles. Hot tea came in a paper cup. The price seemed reasonable and our ramen craving was satisfied. If you fed this ramen to me with a blindfold on, I would have thought I was eating at a Thai restaurant in Japan. This ramen shop is in a tiny corner near the Pacific View Tower in a small business center. Parking lot is small, but not too busy. The restaurant itself is small but modern and clean. Bar tables were a little low or maybe the seats were too high, which made eating slightly uncomfortable. Service was quick and our food came out in about 15 minutes. I ordered the shu shu ramen and asked for medium spicy. They added Thai chili peppers to it instead of chili oil or cayenne powder. The presentation was nice and I found the wonton crisp to be an interesting addition. My wife pointed out that the flavor of the tonkotsu was good, but the noodles had a surprising coconut flavor to it. Noodles did not appear to be homemade but was cooked well. Chasu was tender and seasoned fairly well. The egg was slightly overdone and it had a very weird sweetness to it. For 12 bucks, this was a decent value. U Ramen is located next to The Habit & FedEx in the small plaza on Vineyard in Oxnard. Check out my tip for their hours. You should definitely try the Karaage which is their fried chicken, it's good! I tried the cheese potato, which is one of the two Korean corn dogs they offer. When I took a bite, the cheese was still soft & stretchy, so of course I liked it. It was my first time trying Takoyaki (fried squid ball). It was soft at first, then you get the squid part which was a little chewy. It's an interesting texture, but I enjoyed it! You'll want to pop one in your mouth & eat each one in one bite. I had the Shoyu Ramen with an added egg. It was yummy, but I couldn't finish it, because of all the appetizers we had. It's okay, because I know it will be okay to munch on later. The soft boiled egg was well cooked for me, not under done & not overly done. I enjoyed the noodles. I want to be able to chew the noodles. It's all about the texture & taste for me. That's something I'm super picky about. Ramen noodles, IYKYK ;) I had a great experience!
