Great find in Ventura! Asian food has certainly come a looooong way since I was a kid! Was needing a quick bite before swim finals. First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. I recently tried Matna, and overall the experience was just okay. The food wasn't bad, but the prices felt way too high for what you get. I ordered the bibimbap and some wings. The bibimbap was very standard -- nothing special or memorable about it. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers. read more

When you come in, you are greeted right away and told if you need any help, let them know. Plenty of dining space, and tables are spread out very good. There are 5 tables of two, and 5 tables for four. Can easily rearrange for bigger groups as well. Pricing seems quite high. We ordered a few dishes to try. We ordered the KFC, which is the Korean Fried Chicken. Japchae, which is the Glass noodles. Vegetable Kimbob, which is like a sushi roll, but the Korean one with just the veggies inside. The Kimbob came out first, and it came with a great strong smell of sesame oil. It tasted much better though, and the smell of sesame did not overpower it. It had a good balance. The KFC and japchae came out momentarily after. All of the food is made fresh, therefore, the KFC was super hot! Once it cooled down, it was pretty good, nice and crispy. The japchae was decent, nothing to wow over. Too much flavor and moisture. Usually japchae is pretty dry but flavorful. This was too much seasoning/flavor. All in all, not bad. Yum. I'd be here every week if I lived nearby. This is a clean and brightly lit restaurant nestled in the corner of the mall. There's ample parking so don't worry about that. They serve both traditional and fusion Korean food along with a variety of delicious drinks and bingsoo. This is a great place for a snack, dessert, a drink, or a full fledged meal. Order at the kiosk or at the counter. Service is efficient and food comes out quickly. The flavors are all on point. Soy garlic chicken wings are very crunchy and moist, rose udon with shrimp was flavorful though the noodles could be more al dente, and the kimbap is expertly wrapped with clean delicious flavors. I ate the leftovers next day by pan frying it in egg wash and it was even more delicious. I really enjoyed the pandan cloud drink and the green grape ade This is a great casual place for a meal. It is my second time here and it tasted just as good as I remembered. Staff up front were very friendly and provided amazing service! I had their coconut pamda which was very delicious and sweet. Their mango lemonade was very refreshing and just as sweet so no complain there. I am not a fan of kimchi but this kimchi fried rice is delicious. Another great Korean option in the Ventura county area with some delicious food. This is a casual sit down restaurant where you order at the register and then food is brought to you. This venue has indoor seating only. So this is more a leave your dog at home kind of deal. Tables are nice and big - family friendly. Staff were also pretty nice and helpful when I had some questions. There is also a restroom at this restaurant so no fretting here. One bite of this Korean Fried Chicken and I knew I had made a big mistake. KFC comes in two sizes, 5 piece and 10 piece. I ordered the 5 piece. Big mistake! That chicken is so good I thought about going back up to the counter and ordering another five pieces. But in the end I didn't, because we ordered additional items. We got the Soy Garlic version of their KFC. Solid choice. Really meaty wings, 3 flats and 2 drums. Crispy AF. Squirted a little sriracha on mine. Got damn those wings are good! Just as we finished the first of those wings, the Vegetable Kimbap we ordered came to the table. I love the vegetable kimbap here. Really fresh tasting veggies, beautiful roll. Love the vegetable version but next time I'm going to try the Tuna and Mayo Kimbap. That really sounds good to me. We were alternating between the hot wings and the cool kimbap when the Korean Spicy Dry Noodles were delivered to the table. This cold noodle dish was really beautifully presented. All the ingredients are artfully arranged in a bowl, over a heavenly bed of noodles in Matna's signature spicy sauce. It's left for the customer to mix all the ingredients with the noodles and sauce. I was thankful that those noodles showed up when they did. My wife and I each had finished off two wings. There was still one up for grabs. I wasn't looking for a confrontation, I was looking for a distraction. The noodles were delivered to the table and set right in front of my wife. The server explained that the dish needed to be mixed together. My wife picked up the utensils and got busy mixing the ingredients. I took care of that last piece of chicken. Almost forgot to mention the drink I ordered. They have several different "Ades" to choose from (Green Grape, Mango, Yuzu, and Strawberry). I went with Strawberry. Outstanding drink, would definitely get it again. I bet all those Ades are great. I liked the Korean Spicy Dry Noodles and I would get them again too, but not until I try about a half dozen other things on the menu here. There are so many enticing items! We spent the whole meal alternating between raving about what we were eating and proclaiming what we were going to order next time we visit. I love manta! Korean food is hard to find in the 805 especially Korean street food. I was so delighted when I saw Matna open , they have the perfect mix of everything you could crave, my favorite are always the wings and the Kimbap. But everything I have had here is amazing. Their Kimchi fried rice is so good and almost all the food portions are very shareable. They service is also outstanding! They are always very nice and welcoming. Staff here is really friendly Beef brisket ramen- this wasn't bad but I think it went in with the mindset of a traditional ramen flavor profile, and this is anything but that. The noodles are instant which I disliked, and the broth is pretty clear and light. I think this would be a great recovery food if you were feeling ill. Beef was fine but not flavorful as I'd like. I don't think having glass noodles in this adds to the dish Spicy beef brisket ramen- it's not very spicy, more of a kick. Much more flavor in this than the regular version . We didn't love it but it got better towards the bottom. Japchae- sooo good. Chewy noodles and veggies, can't go wrong! Soy garlic fried chicken - WOWWWWW! The chicken was fall off the bone tender. With that being said it was insanely responsive for some chicken. The fact that it cost us nearly $100 for 2 people is diabolical. I don't care how good chicken is, it is not worth that prices tag. This charming little restaurant has been on my list of places I'd like to try for quite some time, and I'm glad to have finally visited! It has a cute vibe with adorable stickers and vibrant, colorful décor. I opted for their freshly made and handcrafted beef kimbap, which was fantastic! Everything was so good! Their wings were nice and crispy and had a good spice level. Bibimbap was served sizzling fresh with a yummy gochugang sauce. Kimchi ramen hit the spot and had a good acidic flavor from the kimchi. The mango bingsu is something I would totally come back for! Mangos were super ripe and silky.
