With limited options for Korean food, I am thankful every time I come to Matna the food is consistently good. On this visit, I got the spicy brisket ramen and spicy garlic KFC. Both were delicious! Considering the price, the ramen portion was a bit small, it felt more like a snack size rather than a meal. There also wasn't a lot of brisket either. Good thing I also got the KFC which helped me feel satiated. I did notice they now offer bingsoo (Korean shaved ice). It looked very tempting, but the price did give me a little sticker shock so that will have to be a treat for next time!
Parking: This restaurant is within a large parking lot next to a Harbor Freight and other small businesses. Parking was ample and not a problem to find. Ambiance: The interior of the restaurant is open and filled with bright decor, K-pop playing. It felt a bit futuristic almost with the mix of warmth with the painted yellow walls. Food: They have a decent menu of Korean staples. The first red flag was that on their menu they spell "kimbap" (or gimbap) as "kimbob"...First impression- I'm scared. We got the beef "kimbob", Dol Sot Bibimbap, and mango ade. The food looked very visually appealing but once eating, there was such a strong flavor of ultra-processed, burnt oil like vegetable or canola that coated the mouth unpleasantly and did not allow for any flavors to come through. I know a brush over of sesame oil a kimbap is standard, but to be clear- that was NOT sesame oil. This flavor was also in the bibimbap. The beef "kimbob" itself was rolled and stuffed well, but it lacked flavor and really needed gochujang or soy sauce to make it more enjoyable. The beef bibimbap didn't have the classic crisp bottom that is typical/traditional with the stone pot, the white on the egg was still a bit uncooked (as clearly seen in the photo) and 75% of it was rice. The mango-ade was quite sweet and lightly sparkling, and it helped balance the meal by cutting through the heavy oily aftertaste from the food. Service: The worker taking our order was patient and gave us plenty of time to look through the menu and decide on our selections. After ordering we found a table in the open dining area, the food was served to us within a reasonable amount of time. Everything including utensils and water was self service. Overall: Considering the prices and the quality of the food we received, the meal did not feel worth the cost. While the presentation was appealing and portions were decent, the overwhelming burn oil flavor and the bibimbap being 75% rice took away from the meal and made the food feel low quality and not worth the price we paid. I still dream about their Korean fried chicken it was so good! I can in having no clue what to order and I was glad I took Judy's recommendation! Pairing the chicken with the rice was a perfect balance of tang and sweetness. Their mango ade was also so delicious! I can't wait for my next visit to take some drinks back home! I can't wait for my next visit!
When you come in, you are greeted right away and told if you need any help, let them know. Plenty of dining space, and tables are spread out very good. There are 5 tables of two, and 5 tables for four. Can easily rearrange for bigger groups as well. Pricing seems quite high. We ordered a few dishes to try. We ordered the KFC, which is the Korean Fried Chicken. Japchae, which is the Glass noodles. Vegetable Kimbob, which is like a sushi roll, but the Korean one with just the veggies inside. The Kimbob came out first, and it came with a great strong smell of sesame oil. It tasted much better though, and the smell of sesame did not overpower it. It had a good balance. The KFC and japchae came out momentarily after. All of the food is made fresh, therefore, the KFC was super hot! Once it cooled down, it was pretty good, nice and crispy. The japchae was decent, nothing to wow over. Too much flavor and moisture. Usually japchae is pretty dry but flavorful. This was too much seasoning/flavor. All in all, not bad. Try it if you want, it's ok for its price.
Only tried the bingsoo but it was great! Coming back here for sure, the staff were very welcoming and personable.
As much as it hurts me , I can't gatekeep this place. It's a small place but the food in there is insane. I've went in for a matcha ( which was amazing btw) and realized there was much more to this restaurant. It's a family owned restaurant, you can tell everything on the menu was chosen carefully. I've had two of the rice bowls - bulgogi and chicken bowl and both were amazing.
Yum. I'd be here every week if I lived nearby. This is a clean and brightly lit restaurant nestled in the corner of the mall. There's ample parking so don't worry about that. They serve both traditional and fusion Korean food along with a variety of delicious drinks and bingsoo. This is a great place for a snack, dessert, a drink, or a full fledged meal. Order at the kiosk or at the counter. Service is efficient and food comes out quickly. The flavors are all on point. Soy garlic chicken wings are very crunchy and moist, rose udon with shrimp was flavorful though the noodles could be more al dente, and the kimbap is expertly wrapped with clean delicious flavors. I ate the leftovers next day by pan frying it in egg wash and it was even more delicious. I really enjoyed the pandan cloud drink and the green grape ade This is a great casual place for a meal. I'm looking forward to trying their dry noodles next time.
It is my second time here and it tasted just as good as I remembered. Staff up front were very friendly and provided amazing service! I had their coconut pamda which was very delicious and sweet. Their mango lemonade was very refreshing and just as sweet so no complain there. I am not a fan of kimchi but this kimchi fried rice is delicious. It has a spicy kick to it and with the egg on top it all pairs and melts perfectly. They have lovely decor inside and I love the yellow walls as it tends to brighten up the restaurant.
SUCH GOOD MUSIC ABSOLUTE PEAK KPOP AND POP!!! The food was excellent and some of the foods were traditional... here a little secret... you can get the viral banana milk there! the food came out pretty quick and had good decorations. The servers were so nice and friendly. i enjoyed the korean fried chicken too.
Another great Korean option in the Ventura county area with some delicious food. This is a casual sit down restaurant where you order at the register and then food is brought to you. This venue has indoor seating only. So this is more a leave your dog at home kind of deal. Tables are nice and big - family friendly. Staff were also pretty nice and helpful when I had some questions. There is also a restroom at this restaurant so no fretting here. Parking situation: Plaza parking lot - super easy and not really crowded. Top recommended food: soy garlic k-fried chicken The pork cutlet special was also a good second, and is definitely big enough to share among 2 people. Will also note though, the food is a little pricier for what it is.
I recently tried Matna, and overall the experience was just okay. The food wasn't bad, but the prices felt way too high for what you get. I ordered the bibimbap and some wings. The bibimbap was very standard -- nothing special or memorable about it. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers.

One bite of this Korean Fried Chicken and I knew I had made a big mistake. KFC comes in two sizes, 5 piece and 10 piece. I ordered the 5 piece. Big mistake! That chicken is so good I thought about going back up to the counter and ordering another five pieces. But in the end I didn't, because we ordered additional items. We got the Soy Garlic version of their KFC. Solid choice. Really meaty wings, 3 flats and 2 drums. Crispy AF. Squirted a little sriracha on mine. Got damn those wings are good! Just as we finished the first of those wings, the Vegetable Kimbap we ordered came to the table. I love the vegetable kimbap here. Really fresh tasting veggies, beautiful roll. Love the vegetable version but next time I'm going to try the Tuna and Mayo Kimbap. That really sounds good to me. We were alternating between the hot wings and the cool kimbap when the Korean Spicy Dry Noodles were delivered to the table. This cold noodle dish was really beautifully presented. All the ingredients are artfully arranged in a bowl, over a heavenly bed of noodles in Matna's signature spicy sauce. It's left for the customer to mix all the ingredients with the noodles and sauce. I was thankful that those noodles showed up when they did. My wife and I each had finished off two wings. There was still one up for grabs. I wasn't looking for a confrontation, I was looking for a distraction. The noodles were delivered to the table and set right in front of my wife. The server explained that the dish needed to be mixed together. My wife picked up the utensils and got busy mixing the ingredients. I took care of that last piece of chicken. Almost forgot to mention the drink I ordered. They have several different "Ades" to choose from (Green Grape, Mango, Yuzu, and Strawberry). I went with Strawberry. Outstanding drink, would definitely get it again. I bet all those Ades are great. I liked the Korean Spicy Dry Noodles and I would get them again too, but not until I try about a half dozen other things on the menu here. There are so many enticing items! We spent the whole meal alternating between raving about what we were eating and proclaiming what we were going to order next time we visit. And no doubt that will be pretty damn soon, because I love Matna 1631 Mikey C says: for god's sake man, don't make the same mistake as me: order the 10 piece KFC!!!
Had a couple friends recommend this place so I finally went and was blown away. Where I live it's hard to get authentic Korean food and this place really has it all in my personal opinion. I saw that they had Yukejeon on their menu and I had to get it. I have been craving it ever since I got back from Korea and it was as if I never left. I recommend you give it a try. Also, since this was my first time I wanted to try something else and the worker, Judy was extremely helpful. She told me all the popular items that people have been ordering lately and I've decided to go with the Soy Garlic Fried Chicken. I'm so glad she recommended it because it was one of the best Korean fried chicken I've had in a long time. Now the inside of the restaurant itself is another great factor. Has a nice modern interior design with a nice shade of yellow. Exceptionally clean and had great Korean music playing. Overall, from walking in to leaving, one of the best services Ive had in a while. If you live in the area of Ventura, I highly recommend you go check this spot out. Tucked away in another plaza, Matna has a lowkey vibe on the outside but once inside you have a spacious and simple design. You can order from a digital screen or at the register and the selection doesn't overwhelm you with options. I appreciate the comfort food leaning menu and the drinks that are offered will appeal to someone with a sweet tooth. Fruits lemonades, bingsoo in a cup, milk drinks, and sodas are what you'll get outside of someone special yakult offerings! I come here for the chicken, rabokki, and bibimbap and I leave happy and full lol! Definitely give this place a try! read more

We stopped in to try this place and it was super cute! We got the beef kimchi fried rice, kimbap, and the fried chicken. They were all really fresh but the fried rice was my fav! The people working there were also super sweet. Next time I want to try the ramen! read more
I ordered the original KFC to go in a 10 piece. Service was friendly & helpful. You can get Korean Fried Chicken 3 ways- original, soy garlic, and spicy garlic. These are well fried, crispy, and not greasy- everything I want in fried chicken. These are so easy and delicious to eat- I wish I had more when I finished them. First time in with some friends. Counter order and then food is brought to you. We all enjoyed our dishes. I had the spicy brisket ramen and ate every last drop. The silverware/chopsticks are metal...cautious when you first get your ramen as the metal will burn you if you dive in too quickly. On the list to return to try more items! read more
Staff here is really friendly Beef brisket ramen- this wasn't bad but I think it went in with the mindset of a traditional ramen flavor profile, and this is anything but that. The noodles are instant which I disliked, and the broth is pretty clear and light. I think this would be a great recovery food if you were feeling ill. Beef was fine but not flavorful as I'd like. I don't think having glass noodles in this adds to the dish Spicy beef brisket ramen- it's not very spicy, more of a kick. Much more flavor in this than the regular version . We didn't love it but it got better towards the bottom. Japchae- sooo good. Chewy noodles and veggies, can't go wrong! Soy garlic fried chicken - WOWWWWW! The chicken was fall off the bone tender. This is the best Korean fried chicken in Ventura county. I can't wait to try the spicy version. This as juicy, flavorful, and overall heaven sent!!! Yuzu ade - SOOO GOOD! Tastes just like the yuzu drink at the toadstool cafe at universal studios. I loved this! So refreshing Overall a solid place. Glad to see we have a Korean food option in the Ventura area. The space is well-designed. Simple and organized. There is a self-service kiosk to order through touch-screen. Or you can walk up to the main counter to order with a person. It was my first time visiting, so I wanted to ask some questions. I ordered that Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl. Marinated Chicken, grilled veggies, Glass Noodles, served on a bed of Rice. I'm a fan of Kimchi, so I ordered a side for added flavor and spice! I'm definitely going back to try the Bulgogi Rice Bowl and Kimchi Pancake! read more

very exciting to see more korean restaurants in ventura county. Was headed into ventura with a friend a remembered this place from an instagram reel. everything was delicious and the woman at the register was so sweet and funny. I got the rose tteokbokki and she got the Korean Cold Dry Noodles. While mine tasted good, her dish was out of control with how good it tasted. Reason why it's a four instead of five, is because the prices are a little high for the portion sizes. despite that, I still think it's worth the visit! read more
I've had this gem on my list for months, and now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner! This is hands down one of the best Korean restaurants I've visited. Great little korean spot. Located in a strip mall this restaurant sports a simple cafeteria feel. 9 tables with some counter seating too. Walk up ordering. Quick service. I had the bulgogi rice bowl and Kim Che fried rice. Flavor on both was very nice. The rice bowl had a decent mix of japjae and beef. It could have a more veggies but the taste was good. Portion size was enough that either dish would have been one meal for me. Nothing fancy here, just good food. read more
Cannot believe it took us so long to find to discover Matna! We usually drive down to LA when we want Korean foo, but now, we can just make the quick drive to Matna whenever we're in the mood. What a gift! Surprisingly large inside with plenty of seating options. Well-done menu with just the right amount of options, and what they make, they make really well. Their Bulgogi Rice Bowl is delicious - generous helping of tasty bulgogi with rice and noodles. We also got the Spicy Beef Brisket Ramen - I'm personally not a fan of spice, but if you're a fan of spice, you will love this. Good heat with tender brisket. Tried their Strawberry Ade. One of the first Korean restaurants in the area. Tried everything from the Spicy Ramen Brisket, the Bulgogi, and the KFC. The Bulgogi was probably my favorite. It's not the best Korean food I've ever had, but it's definitely the best Korean joint in Ventura. Nice to have an option without driving to LA. Still need to try the Kimbap, but it looks delicious. Overall, a nice spot. Lovely to see the growing diversity in Ventura. read more

This charming little restaurant has been on my list of places I'd like to try for quite some time, and I'm glad to have finally visited! It has a cute vibe with adorable stickers and vibrant, colorful décor. I opted for their freshly made and handcrafted beef kimbap, which was fantastic! I didn't have time to eat there, so they packed it in a cute container and gave me a small container of soy sauce, garlic, and hot sauce to dip them in. The flavors were bursting with flavors, and the portion was larger than I imagined it would be. I can't wait to explore more of their delectable menu in the future. read more
Amazing korean food spot!! Came for the wings and ended up ordering several different things. Got the spicy garlic wings, beef bibimbap, kimchi ramen, white grape lemonade drink, and mango bingsu. Everything was so good! Their wings were nice and crispy and had a good spice level. Bibimbap was served sizzling fresh with a yummy gochugang sauce. Kimchi ramen hit the spot and had a good acidic flavor from the kimchi. The mango bingsu is something I would totally come back for! Mangos were super ripe and silky.
