Located on the second floor of the Pacific View mall, this is a convenient option for when I want Japanese fast food. I like that the food is cooked when ordered so that it is hot and fresh. It normally comes with rice but I prefer noodles so I would pay the surcharge for that. The chicken teriyaki was flavorful but a little bit too salty for me. I thought maybe it was the teriyaki sauce being too salty but that was not the case with the shrimp teriyaki, which I felt were a little bland, but nothing a little sriracha won't fix. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and the stuffing was flavorful, it really did not need the sauce packet at all. The California roll that came with the bento was decent. Overall it's a convenient option when wanting decent Japanese food.

Do not get the spicy tuna roll. Not good and very overpriced. The dumplings are not worth it either at all. Just stick with the chicken or beef teriyaki. They have a good size portion and the meat is cooked fresh. Customer service is not very good.

looks great but flavorless. a bit expensive for a lackluster of flavor.

The food looks good but it lacks taste it lacks seasonings. The rice they use for the sushi rolls is just plain. That rice should have some taste. a mixture of rice vinegar with mirin to season it. The food needs flavor.

Finally my favorite food chicken teriyaki is back in business. I love this food chicken teriyaki over rice and veggies and the famous delicious yummy yummy sauce. The staff was great, everyone very careful. All of the employees were polite and thank you after they call your order. Am impressed very well train. Line might be crazy but am sure after eating it hot and fresh quality food pays off the long wait. Thanks you guys! Will be back soon

Oh, how I LOVE hibachi and sushi! I could eat this everyday... Fo' real! =0) They have delicious food...and it's awesome having the chefs right there cooking hibachi style! Typically, you don't get this sort of thing unless you go to a Benny Hanna type restaurant... to get the delicious food without the show is great! Granted, I love Benny Hanna type restaurants but Sarku Japan is delivering the grub in the setting where people want there food quick. They totally deliver this to the customers. They know their demographic, that's for sure. :0) I'm baffled by the reviews giving Sarku a low rating. They're a 5 Star in my book. They're located in the Food Court in the Pacific View Mall and for a Food Court business they deliver more than the average business! So, try it yourself and make the determination yourself! We loved the spicy rolls. They even have kraft beer from Japan outside of Asahi and Sapporo. We had a great experience at Kuu and can't wait to return.

We went on a Saturday around 8 pm and it happened that they have happy hour. Not impressive either. It was 4 adults, 1 child and 1 baby in stroller . ONLY 4 adults ate. But somehow they charged 20% gratuity! What? Why? Because you're taking seats. Never heard of such a thing. Anyways this won't happen again as we won't be returning here Let's start since we got there. Saturday night at 8 pm. 2 of us for raw sushi and the other two don't like raw so they had Yakisoba and chicken teriyaki. So the sushi came first and we finished our food and the Yakisoba and chicken teriyaki is still not here. We had 4 different servers come asking for things and orders and one of them asked if we got the bill when we hadn't even gotten our food. Not to mention when we asked for straws. It was thrown on the table which is also unacceptable. Finally the hot food came and we decided we wanted more raw sushi and here comes another 25 minutes and still nothing. When the bill came and I saw we were charged for gratuity, I didn't like that because first of all, service was horrible, we didn't get to enjoy the meal together we kept looking to see if our food is coming. Then cherry on top, you would think the owner would try to make it better. No, it was even worse. Yea because you were taking seats. I said there is a kid in stroller and another kid who can't eat sushi. If you have kids, don't bring them because they'll charge you for the seat! The 2 stars is for the chaos roll and salmon sashimi. Everything else was NOT worth it Ridiculous and won't be returning

The Japanese style of grilling each item on a stick and coveted bar seating around the open kitchen squeezed into a narrow bustling space is truly authentic. If you're claustrophobic, walk through the interior dining area to the back patio for an open air experience. Food is ordered from an App so come with a full phone battery charge. You order each skewer and all other items and they are brought to your table as they come off the grill. We ordered a couple Japanese draft beers and the Spicy Garlic Edamame to start as we studied the revolving selection of skewers on the menu. Tip- keep that edamame plate because you're going to want to double dip with that leftover sauce. You choose your own adventure here and the quality of the food and preparation are outstanding. I think Sushi when I think Japanese food-- not here- it's Kushiyaki style ! There's no Sushi! We ordered One of many variations of filet mignon, ribeye and chicken skewers in order to taste our way through the menu. We kept ordering 2 at a time and sharing. The Unagi was a stand out for my husband and apparently is very popular. I felt that that the beef skewers were more flavorful than the chicken but all the proteins were grilled to perfection and very tender. The Fillet with onion sauce and the ribeye with yuzu were standouts to me. The servers are friendly and efficient. If you want the full experience, come early and snag a seat at the bar so you can watch the dinner theater. Here the focus is on the perfect bite! Tip: if you map it, you'll drive right by it. Look for the downtown Cafe Ficelle on Main across from Ventura HS and park. Then walk toward the Tattoo studio until you see an open door full of people and no visible signage. It truly is a Hidden Gem!

After some time, the owner came to our table and told us that another customer's order had somehow been charged to my credit card. She said she would cancel the transaction and asked us to place the order again. Naturally, I was concerned and asked for an explanation of how another customer's order could be charged to my card. Unfortunately, she repeatedly said she didn't know and offered no explanation or reassurance. Her attitude was dismissive and surprisingly unconcerned about what could have been a serious payment system issue. Because I was uncomfortable with the situation and the lack of transparency, I decided to cancel my order and leave. She simply said "OK" and showed little interest in addressing my concerns. Whether this was a system error or not, customers deserve a clear explanation when their credit card is involved in an unexpected transaction. The poor customer service and lack of concern left a very negative impression. I would be extremely cautious about using a credit card here in the future.

So far, my stats are 50/50 catching eggs in my mouth when they're flung toward me! Everyone gets a good laugh as they attempt to catch some, too! The other side of the restaurant is the sushi side, but I've never ordered sushi here (yet). You can also order sushi on the teppanyaki side, though. Once you order your meal, it also typically comes with soup, salad, and white or fried rice. I always have plenty to take home in a to-go container for another meal. My favorite is the teppanyaki chicken. I've also ordered the teppanyaki steak, but the meat was a little dry and not well seasoned. Prices are reasonable at $25-35 a plate, and you will get plenty of food. This is also a good place to take kids, as you can share your meal with them, and they will (hopefully) enjoy the show the chef puts on as he cooks. The group I arrived with included over 15 people, so the staff seated us at one large table. This is definitely a great place for enormous groups.
