A rather bizarre dining experience. I'd made a res a few days ago and indicated it was my bd. When we arrived we were told our table was in the bar, that is the default for res made online. Nowhere did it say that and we received no notice of that. I said that wasn't ok. They did find us a nice table with great ocean and sunset view. Our server, Evan was a friendly guy but stood several ft back from table and literally shouted at us. He did same thing with table next to us, even louder. Truly Bizzare! I have never experienced anything like that. What was that all about? My filet med rare was very good. My husband's med was thinner and not great. Rest of food was fine. Evan never came back to ask how our dinners were, only to ask if we wanted another round of drinks when we were almost finished. He did bring us a slice of their signature pie (delish) and wished us Happy Anniversary...lol. We'll probably go back but not on weekend when it's busy and weird. read more

Do not order a gift card from this restaurant. Manager was too busy getting ready for her cruise to make it to work to assist with customer escalation issue. Unfortunately, our experience with this restaurant began poorly before we ever had the opportunity to dine there. We purchased a gift card as a gift for my parents, who live out of town, because we wanted to treat them to a special celebration dinner. The e-gift card did not work, and we were told that the restaurant has ongoing issues with PayPal. We contacted the restaurant hoping they could help us resolve the problem, but the manager was unable to provide a solution and said she didn't know how to contact the owner. When I asked what would happen if there were an emergency and the owner needed to be reached, she said she could text her. We were eventually told the owner would handle the issue the following day. Two days later, after multiple excuses and delays, nothing had been resolved. We were told the manager couldn't come in to handle it, then that someone else would need to take care of it, but that person wasn't available either. What was especially frustrating was that this was supposed to be a celebration gift for my parents, and because the restaurant couldn't resolve a simple gift-card issue, they missed their planned celebration dinner and we were unable to properly give them their gift. Update: We were specifically promised that the gift card would arrive the next day. It did not. We were then told there was another issue with the system. At one point, we were even blamed for not selecting the e-gift card option, despite the fact that the e-gift card option was not available when we made the purchase. We were eventually told that we could simply take a photo of the card and have them scan it when we arrived. That would have been a perfectly reasonable solution from the beginning, but instead we spent days dealing with excuses, unavailable staff, and promises that were not followed through. This was incredibly disappointing. We understand that technical issues happen, but the way a business handles a problem says a lot about its customer service. In this case, we felt there was a complete lack of communication, ownership, and urgency. If a restaurant cannot resolve a basic gift-card issue or provide a clear point of contact when something goes wrong, it does not give us confidence about spending money there for an actual dinner. We will be looking for another steakhouse in the area and will be sharing our experience on other review platforms as well. read more

We wanted to eat beachside and Aloha offered just that with great Pacific views and vibes. Our server Evan was simply outstanding... Friendly, comical (hilarious dad jokes), and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The food itself was good, but not out of this world... Nice local beer selection, excellent ahi app, good steakhouse salad, but just an okay filet (the steak was cooked to medium rare as requested, but it was not seared or seasoned well). The food was incredible. We had the halibut macadamia nut crusted with coconut rice. Oh it was so good. I am dreaming about it right now. We have been going to Aloha for 22 years. It's mine and my husband's go to place for fancy nights and he's worked there for years and knows all the workers and Beth yesterday showed us nothing but amazing service and took great care of us. This is my favorite ocean front restaurant in Ventura. It's located next to the parking structure. Theres a boardwalk out front too so you can take a stroll or sit on a bench and enjoy watching the waves. Call ahead and make a reservation. You want to ask for a booth or if you want to watch the sunset over the ocean- ask for one of the tables next to the glass window. Everything I've tried so far is delicious. One of my favorites are their SPICY AVOCADO EGG ROLLS. They're fried to perfection: crispy, with a creamy filling and hints of sun dried tomato. This dish comes on a bed of little white crunchy noodles that I ended up sprinkling on top with the dipping sauce. If you love bleu cheese and mushrooms, I recommend the BLACK AND BLEU TOP SIRLOIN medium.. it is to die for. I ordered it with the house salad and was not a fan of cranberries on top. I also ordered a side of SWEET POTATO FRIES. Some of the best I've ever had and the portion was plentiful. It took a lot of willpower to stop eating after I was full. My hubby got the PRIME RIB with garlic mashed potatoes and that was incredible as well!! I haven't had a Bloody Mary in a while and was craving something spicy other than my go t spicy Margie's, so I went for it. My goodness, it hit the spot! I've been here a few times, and honestly, I'd rate it as pretty mediocre. In my opinion, it's not really a standout steakhouse. The customer service was excellent and the drinks were very good, but the food itself was just okay. The steaks lacked flavor and nothing on the menu really impressed me. It feels like a more old-school dining experience, which some people may enjoy, but the hype didn't live up to my expectations. so I have been eating at the Aloha for over 10 years.... I always get the same thing... a CowBoy rib-eye steak.... you all know what a rib eye looks like. Recently I was eating there and when my steak came it was missing about 25% of the meat trimmed off the edge. The price was the same... but the perimeter of the steak has been trimmed off. I asked the manager and he said... oh that is just how the steak is. Returned to Aloha for my birthday dinner last week and overall had a nice experience. The drinks are always great here - the Malibu Third Point is my favorite! I loved the herb crusted salmon as well as the sides of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Perfectly cooked salmon for the 3 of us who ordered it. The entrees come with one side but I love that you can add additional sides for only $3 (including a side salad or soup). I took some of my dinner home and it was equally as good the next day. The prices were reasonable as well. Our server was just fine - he was friendly but did seem to forget about us on a couple of occasions. I brought my wife, brother and his wife to Aloha to celebrate there anniversary on Sept 4th and the service was horrible. They took 20 minutes to take our drink order and another 35 minute to get them. Ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was like eating rubber bands. My brother and I ordered fish and chips that said it was lightly battered the batter was so thick that we needed a knife to cut the fish. it horrible. Hi Have eaten there many times and the food and service seems to be more mediocre or poor. last time was in 7/14/26, our 30th anniversary which we told them about as they asked what we were celebrating. After a glass of wine and an appetizer at the bar happy hour we sat down for steak and lobster. overpriced and the steak wasn't cooked medium. The table wasn't wiped well sticky and the server wasn't having a good night. my wife gets very anxious if I ever make a request or change anything so I waited until I got home. Called about 8 pm no answers. next day filled the contact form and thus far no response. it was a wasted $150 and I won't go or recommend them to anyone until they explain to me what went wrong. Came here while vacationing and it was great. It's beachfront so you get all the views and the fresh breeze. The hostess greeted us immediately as we walked in the front door. We sat outside since we had our dogs with us. The staff were also very nice to our dogs and brought them a bowl of water. The steak was great and our food was ready quickly. Decided to check this place out. Made reservations online for a booth. Got there and was seated shortly with my seating request. Was not too crowded, but definitely the waiting staff were busy. Our waiter was absolutely amazing, he kept us in check, made sure our drinks were filled without us asking. We had the top sirloin and ribeye steak dinner which were cooked perfectly. I wish I coulda hugged the chef that made them, it was served hot and the taste was juicy, my mouth is watering writing this review, Ha! We cleared our plate cleaned! Lastly, I wanted dessert. The ambiance is always festive but especially around the holidays. The food is fresh, well sauced, and made exactly how you want it. He started by making drink recommendations (pictured - lemon drop and blood orange margarita.) They were soo yummy. Dog friendly, nice place to people/dog watch and great service! We came here for the cowboy steaks. It came with a side (we chose loaded garlic mashed potatoes) and also had side salad. Wife also had the clam chowder and said it was one of the best she's had. They actually had clams, and tasted like clams instead of bacon. The steaks were a good size and depending on your appetite, can have left overs or enjoy the whole steak! The loaded garlic mashed potatoes were good. They had sour cream, cheese and chives. We were originally going to order a cheap steak for the pup, but the waitress informed us they had a chicken or beef menu for pups ( was reasonably priced around $7 for either or). I wish I took a pic of the dog portions ( wife thought it was too much to feed for one meal so we had left overs for our pup too). The steaks were cooked well near the bone (I like my steaks rare and near the bone is usually undercook, but they did a great job cooking it). I started with the incredible wedge salad -- the large head of lettuce was fresh and crisp. The tomatoes were ripe and paired well with the tangy blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese crumbles cheese crumbles rounded out the dish perfectly. I'm vegetarian, so I ordered mine without bacon. For my entree, I ordered the Bistro Vegan Burger. Since converting to vegetarianism, I'm not able to eat burgers as often as I used to. I otherwise would have missed out on this burger in my carnivorous days. It was terrific, and not once did I miss a beef patty. I'm not sure what the patty was composed of (I don't think it was Impossible or Beyond), but it was sizable and meaty. The vegan mozzarella cheese added a familiar, tasty layer of creaminess. However, the star of the show was the blend of caramelized onions and mushrooms -- the rich, earthy flavor of the mushroom was elevated by the sweetness of the caramelized onions. I ate the vegan bacon separately. I find the artificial smoke flavor too overpowering, and I don't think it would have added much to the sandwich. I also ate the spring mix separately as eating the burger as a handheld was difficult as is. The fries were also excellent -- lightly seasoned and fried to perfect crisp. The service was excellent, and I liked the laid-back atmosphere. I hope to return soon to explore the menu. read more

First, the positives! Service was friendly and attentive, and the artichoke and mushroom appetizer was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Both the regular ribeye and the filet were cooked perfectly and very enjoyable. Now, the disappointments. Unfortunately, the Alaskan King Crab legs--one of the main reasons I chose this restaurant--have apparently been off the menu for over a year, though they're still listed online. The Cowboy Ribeye was far too salty; it truly tasted like a mistake. We should have sent it back, but that's never easy to do in the moment. The lamb was also slightly overcooked, so if you prefer it pink, I'd recommend ordering it medium rare. I had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating two birthdays, but that went unacknowledged. We were also seated at a table right by the front door, with no view--disappointing, especially since I'm a local and had chosen this restaurant to give my out-of-town guests an ocean-view experience. Overall, while the service and a few dishes were excellent, several missed details and unfulfilled expectations left the evening feeling less special than I had hoped. read more

We got drinks and our appetizer around 7:50. We got the artichoke, so much lemon it was hard to eat, too bitter. We waited to order the food, that took another 25 minutes. We waited almost a full hour to get the food and we were told it was due to a large party indoors. It wasn't that bad tbh (I'm a chef they had plenty of servers for that) there were only two of us. Our plates finally came when we were about to get up and ask to pay for what we had had and leave. The plates were sloppy. The food just tossed on. Small portions and if you want sides it's 3 dollars more for every side. So you can have a lobster tail and a baked potato but don't think you'll be wowed over it. For two people the total w tip 189.00 not worth it at all. And vegetables or salad with it cost 3 dollars more, not really a good place for a large group. The server did give us a dessert for having to wait for so long, she brought out an ice cream cake slice to share. This came after waiting again just to get the check. It was almost 10 pm when we left. If you have plans after dinner like we did don't go here. Service was too slow if you don't sit inside they don't seem to care. The lobster was ok slightly tough. The Parmesan crusted orange roughy was good. When we got there it was daylight when we left the beach was already closed as was everything else.
