We stumbled upon this brewery, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. The service is impeccable, and the views from their loft are stunning. This area is 21+ only. The loft is the perfect place to grab a cold one and watch the sunset. We tried their Hazy IPA and a seltzer--both were amazingly crafted and left us wanting another. We didn't get any food this time, but everything we saw others order looked delicious. They have a pizza place they share space with, there were some really good looking pizzas being ordered. The entire bar has a rustic and nostalgic feel, with charming décor inside and out. They offer free parking in their lot, though it is limited. What a great place! They have a good selection of beer and seltzers. Tried a flight since I like variety. The two that stood out for me was the Sweet T which really does taste like tea, and the Catalytic Margarita, it was very refreshing. I appreciate the separate space for 21+ so it's perfect for people that wants to get away from the younger crowd. Views from the deck were amazing! Dog friendly. Love their partnership with Toppers. Delicious food complimenting great beer. You order the food and they give you a location buzzer and deliver it to your table wherever you're sitting. Very convenient! Was nice to visit Transmission Brewing again! We enjoyed a few different types of their beverages! I had the DownShift German-Style Pilsner - 5.1% Bronze metal winner in the German-style pilsner catagory at the '24 World Beer Cup. Inspired by classic European lagers with floral hops and classic German malts. Light, crisp and very drinkable. Sunday Funday with great friends! Such a cute brewery with an awesome drink menu plenty of seltzers and beers on tap. Must try the orange creamsicle seltzer, it was such a treat. Having Toppers onsite is amazing .The creamy garlic pizza is always a favorite. I usually stick with the lemon pepper wings, but I tried the Asian-style this time and they were definitely worth it perfectly cooked, crispy, and juicy. This place is completely unexpected in this area of town and was such a surprise! Climbing about three sets of stairs you will arrive at a glass rooftop bar with a 360° view of Ventura and the beautiful coastline. We have seen this place before but have never been here. So on this trip we decided to go in. This place is wonderful. You can get pizza and salads and not sure what else. Its big and there is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The staff wasn't as friendly as you typically get in a local small brewery, but I like the place. Our beer selections were pretty good. We had two selzers and two beers in our group. We didn't eat although the food looked great, so maybe next time. Everything was clean, and I suggest a try. They do give tastes of beer upon request when making your choice. So stop in and enjoy this place. read more

I am reviewing Transmission as someone who's not a big craft beer drinker. But of local Ventura breweries I've visited (amazing how many are just in Ventura!) Transmission appeals to me the most. Looove the partnership with Toppers. Makes it easy and satisfying to get good eats from Toppers and have a cold side of beer. The beer selections are good for someone like me who doesn't like the bitterness of IPA and Hop forward beers. There seems to be more varieties here. I recently tried their Blackberry sour, and it basically tasted like an adult fruity lemonade drink- delicious. I also appreciate more options of gentler Lagers and ales. They also have many seltzer options- Margarita was fun. I think the large open spaces of some of the other larger breweries can be impressive, especially for events... but I hesitate going to those locations on any weekend because they are really (many) kids and family friendly. So essentially will feel like being at a local park because children are encouraged to play freely. Transmission has a good separation for families with children being more on the Toppers dining side, whereas the glass roof deck (amazing coastline views, such a special space. I mentioned this in my review of Toppers pizza) is separated for 21 and over. I appreciate how there are different zones here. Again- Kudos to the Topper staffers who must run food up those long flight of stairs. There is an elevator, but I noticed that food runners rarely choose the elevator. The partnership is interesting as Transmission staffers have to clear and bus tables of Toppers food, so hopefully there is a lot of mutual benefits (food and drinks) for all employees. Super cool spot!! There is no food menu at Transmissions, solely beer, but they are attached to the best pizza in Cali... Toppers Pizza! The waiters actually bring your pizza to you on the Transmissions side. So when I say attached, I really mean they are as one. The brewing tanks are super impressive! Large and I charge... lit with cool neon lights! Cool to see for sure! They have a huge indoor and outdoor sitting areas and lower floor and upstairs. There's a complete huge loft. TV's everywhere. Lots of people watching the game last night. The beer is super fresh and tasty!! Definitely a must try. Flight of beer, football and pizza you can't go wrong! This place was great! They have a "tap room" that connects to toppers pizza so you can order pizza and beer and basically eat it in the brewery side. They also have a 21 and over area which you take an elevator up and has a really cool bar and seating with a view! Service was great, the bartender gave great recommendations and told us which beer was the freshest. Super great beers and who doesn't love toppers pizza! read more

If you want a drink with a view, this place is perfect. They have a beautiful upstairs area that has a smaller bar and the view is breathtaking. Something to note, we were here at sunset and it is half open air in the upstairs. It got very chilly very fast and I ended up having to buy one of their merch sweaters which was $50. It's a cute sweater but I wasn't expecting to need it. The inside downstairs is also very cool inside and that's where the full service bar is. The pizza place attached is great for if you want a bite as well. There are some cocktails and other drinks as well if beer isn't your thing. Super beautiful place! read more

Stopped by on our way through town for a beer. We ended up also ordering some food since they are connected to Topper's, and we love Topper's pizza. But while connected, they are still two separate establishments. All the employees were super friendly and helpful, and it was super quick to get our beers (both rounds). The brew deck was pretty cool; it had a great view and a great vibe. It was also nice that they allowed dogs everywhere, so we could bring our dog up to the brew deck. There were two other little dogs up there, and one was a little yapper. But our lil dude was well behaved. The only reason I didn't give five stars was that their beer wasn't all that great... it wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me. I got their two Hazy IPAs, and they were just a bit tame as far as flavor goes. My wife got their blonde, and it kind of tasted like a corona... it just didn't taste like a blonde at all. Fun place to hang out with friends! My husband loves their beer and his favorite beer is their transmission light. I love their orange creamsicle slushy drink. My friend didn't like it, because she thought it was too strong, but I didn't think so. Transmission Brewing is one of my new favorite breweries this side of town. The views are everything! I love the theme and overall feel of this spot. You come for the views and the beer. Hands down the highlight of this spot and what makes it fun and unique compared to other local breweries. Highly recommend sitting up top on the main 2nd story floor with views of the city and to the ocean. It's cool up there and also has its own smaller beer bar area. If your ordering toppers downstairs they'll bring your pizza up to you so you get the best of both. Downstairs is an inside beer bar. Also cool design because of the booths and covered patio areas to sit. The beer bar downstairs has slightly more drink options then upstairs, as you can get slushy cocktails downstairs. But easily carry it upstairs if you still want to sit with the views. They don't serve their own food to my knowledge but everyone was ordering pizza from downstairs so it seemed to be a win. Would be smart to get food trucks around this area for a change from pizza. All in all it's still nice that you get the balance of pizza and beer. I had the Mexican lager with sea salt and lime. Super summery and refreshing. A great beer. My friend got an IPA and was equally as impressed. Nice selection of beers here and I'm definitely looking forward to trying more. No worries, it's windows so you still see beautiful Ventura. They have heaters and a fire pit. It's comfy, not cold at all. It was very gloomy and we felt toasty! Perfect date for bf and me. There is indoor seating and a huge outdoor seating area which includes a rooftop style area. The inside decor of transmission goes with their theme with gears and cars. Everything feels clean and new inside. The beers here are solid. There's a variety of different style beers to choose from. I enjoyed their hazy IPA. Transmission is connected to Toppers Pizza so you can order Topper's Pizza and eat it inside of Transmission. Topper's Pizza and Transmission beer is the best combination!
