I came for a girls dinner with my sisters and an aunt, so this was the spread; Queso Fundido with the fresh mini tortillas, Tomato & Avocado salad, Chicharron Guacamole, Churrasco Skirt Steak, Shrimp Tacos (3 orders of them!!) All of these were delicious, I definitely had the tomato and avocado salad for freshness, it had great flavor and seasoning. The Churrasco skirt steak was so juicy and flavorful! Not your average skirt steak for sure. The shrimp taco plate comes with 3 tacos each and hand made tortillas, I've never had shrimp tacos with hand made tortillas and it was a bit of a game changer!! Our visit to Carne Latin Fire Steakhouse was outstanding from start to finish! Chris was exceptional--he took the time to explain every menu option, including the drinks, and made excellent recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. We started with the complimentary sourdough bread, which was a great way to begin the meal. We then went straight for the live fire grill selections and ordered the Vacio (Bavette), cooked to a perfect medium. It was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We paired it with the chimichurri, rice, and beans, which complemented the steak perfectly. We also tried the Iberico Secreto from the premium cuts, (Spanish acorn-fed pork with exceptional marbling). It was rich, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. Served with chimichurri, rice, and beans, it was another standout dish. For drinks, both the El Picante and the Sweet Heat were fantastic--well-balanced, refreshing, and the perfect accompaniment to our meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the music created the perfect vibe, and every member of the staff was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our visit. We finally tried Carne! I'll be honest, I was not expecting much and thought it would be much like the restaurant there before, overrated, over priced and mediocre food. However, to my surprise the food was very, very good! The meats were cooked perfectly and the seasoning is great. Not overpowering and keeps the taste of the beef. I ordered the Picanha and my husband got the Costilla. They both came with black beans and white rice. These reminded me of an old favorite Cuban restaurant in Pasadena. I was very impressed with the food. I'm looking forward to trying their happy hour next. I only gave it a 4 star because my drink was not so great. Our server and Manager were very attentive and made these great recommendations for food selections. The noise level was a bit loud but we were still able to have a conversation. My wife and I walked in on a Saturday at noon. The place wasn't very busy but we wanted to give it a try. We were sat outside and we waited for 30 minutes and no one came to serve us. No water, no one checking in on us. I tried flagging someone down, but they were either understaffed or the staff needs more training. Looked like a bunch of high school kids running the place. We got up and left, and informed the hostess that we had been sitting there for 30 minutes with no service so we were going to leave because we were hungry. She looked genuinely shocked but as we left she went back to looking at her phone at her station, not taking the feedback to a manager. It's a shame because it looked nice, the menu looked good, but if the staff doesn't know what they're doing the place won't last a year in that location with other options around. read more

This is the new restaurant in town and it was my husband's birthday and decided to come and give it a try. I booked through openTable and we were seated immediately. They have half hour till 7 PM. It has a variety of food and drinks. On the reservation I know that it was a birthday celebration. We got few happy hour items, including asada tacos, shrimp, tacos, and fish taco. We also got the corn. My favorite was a shrimp taco. We asked for no onions on the food, but it did come with onion however they were able to bring us another dish that didn't have onion. I had mentioned on the reservation that it was a birthday celebration and mentioned to our server that we were celebrating a birthday and he was going to bring dessert, but it took forever, even though we had finished eating for sometime. He was planning to bring flan, but it took over 10 minutes and our baby was fussy so we had to leave. That's the only thing I would mention is it took them time and we had to leave before getting the dessert We also got two drinks, one of them was the golden hour, which was better in my opinion and the secret Jardin. This was both a negative and positive experience and I want to explain things. I came here for happy hour with a friend. I am not sure what time it starts but it ends at 6:00pm. The menu had some nice happy hour offerings. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived at 5:45pm. We were sat down immediately with our choice of the patio or inside. We chose the patio. There did not appear to be A/C for inside because it seemed slightly hotter than the patio. There seemed to be a lot of disorganization of whom was serving the patio and I think this is where things went down hill. First, we had a woman introduce herself to us saying she would be our server. She said she would give us a few minutes. A few minutes later a gentleman introduced himself as our server and took our order. I ordered the Wagyu sliders and a Baja shrimp taco. The happy hour plates are more comparable to a Tapas menu as they are small plates of food. The Wagyu sliders were 2 sliders and some fries. The taco was one small street size taco. We skipped drinks and just wanted water. Spoiler: the food was delicious! The burgers and taco were seasoned well and had great flavor. The fries were cooked to perfection. My friend and I each ordered the sliders and a taco. The waiter asked me to repeat my order which is fine, I would rather him get it correct. A few minutes after ordering, a table runner brought us fresh warm sourdough bread and butter. And filled our water cups. Yes, I said "cups". They use plastic cups that do not fit with the theme of a high end steakhouse. I expected nice glasses even just for water. Our food was served fast, when the table runner brought our food which had both of our tacos on the same plate. We looked confused when he said "shrimp and carne asada taco". I told the runner that we each got a taco and it was a separate order. No problem. He returned with our tacos on separate plates. He asked if we needed anything. I asked if I could get some ranch. He said "sure" and then never returned. The owner (I assume he was the owner); he was a man in his 60s asked if everything was okay. Since we just got our food we said everything was fine. About 15 minutes after our food arrived, there was no sign of the ranch or our waiter so that I could ask for more water. Another gentleman wearing a suit walked by us and I waved him down and asked for more water. He refilled my water but overlooked that my friend could have used more water. I also asked him for the ranch. He came back a few minutes and said they don't carry ranch. He asked if I wanted more ketchup or a sauce. I declined. Our waiter finally comes to check on us after about 25 minutes. After I already got my answer on no ranch and had my water refilled by the manager. The owner comes back around at the end of the meal to ask how things were and to encourage us to write a Yelp review. At that point I spoke up and told him I needed to be honest that the food was great but the service was terrible. He apologized and offered a dessert to us but we declined. He then sent the manager, Rayner to our table to speak with us. Again I told him about the poor service. And he knows at first hand our waiter did not refill our waters as he was the one to do so. He apologized and told us he would not charge us for the meal. This is why this restaurant deserves a high rating. Not because we were not charged but because this business cares and listens to their customers; which is very rare these days. I love the vibe that Carne brings to Oxnard. In the Collection (where the former King and Queen Cantina used to be) is Carne, a modern Latin-fire grill. It has only been open a week! We started with the made-in-house sourdough bread and creamy butter. There was a small square of bread left that we were too full to finish, but it was so delicious that we took it home in a to-go box. Next, we had a tostada-like appetizer topped with plenty of guacamole and a delicious cream. I enjoyed everything at this restaurant, but this appetizer was my favorite out of everything I ate! Unfortunately, we devoured this appetizer, so we took nothing home. Finally, we ordered picanha beef, medium. It came out sliced thin and hot. The meat was well-seasoned, flavorful, and addicting. It would be very hard to order another type of meat in the future, knowing how delicious this meat was. It came with a side of beans and rice, which were quickly devoured: the beans were tasty and packed with flavor, and the rice made a great accompaniment. Everything was eaten, so there was also nothing to take home. We went home with our lone piece of bread. Also, the service was phenomenal. Evie, our server, and two managers frequently checked on us. Located in the Collection, this restaurant has great ambiance, although the music was very loud, it was hard to keep a conversation going with my friends. When we arrived, we were informed that without a reservation it was a 2 hours wait. There were plenty of tables available, so I went to open table and was able to book a reservation for immediate seating. Very weird and we almost went some other place because of that. (The manager later on explained what happened). Let me tell you we were glad we didn't go some other place. The food and drinks were great. We visited on the restaurant's second day after opening, and we're so glad we did! It's always exciting to support a new business, and this place has so much potential. Being Puerto Rican and from Miami, it's hard to find some good latin food so we immediately stopped here. The food was absolutely delicious. FINALLLY maduros done the right way! Every dish was full of authentic Latin flavors, beautifully presented, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. You can tell a lot of care went into creating the menu, and we were impressed with both the quality and the portions. We especially appreciated how vibrant and well-balanced the flavors were. THE DRINK MENU One thing regarding the food which was a negative was the abundance of green sprigs on top of everything. AND the nacho chips with chicharrónes. Like how are you advertising chicharrónes on the menu which comes with nacho chips and gives me more chips than actual chicharrónes. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. 3 hours for us. Since it was only their second day, the staff seemed understandably new and a little timid, but they were all incredibly kind, polite, and eager to help. You could tell they genuinely wanted everyone to have a great experience. With a little more confidence and training, I have no doubt they'll become an outstanding team. It came with 3 side choices. Perfect for 3 people to share. It was cooked perfectly. We ordered the mashed potatoes that were cheesy and delicious, the onion rings-fabulous, and sautéed mushrooms- cooked perfectly. We also ordered the beet salad. It was a very large plate of beets. Came to Carne today at 6:30 PM to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had made our reservation online about two weeks in advance. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't packed at all. The hostess wanted to seat us at a small table in the corner. I politely asked if it was possible to sit in a booth instead, but she told me no because the booths were for larger groups. What confused me was that a party of two had just been seated in one of those booths. I pointed out that they were also only a group of two and were sitting exactly where we were told we couldn't sit, so it made me question how true that explanation was. After pointing it out, they were able to seat us in a booth. Thankfully, the rest of our experience was much better. Our waiter, Chris, was great! He provided good service, and we really enjoyed both the food and drinks. Overall, despite the seating issue when we first arrived, we had a good experience celebrating my husband's birthday. Carne has a great vibe! The ambiance was really nice, and the music selection set the tone for a fun dinner. We started with the pulpo and the corn nibs. The pulpo was cooked well but was a little underseasoned. I think just a little more of the sauce would have made a big difference. I was surprised that the beans had meat in them, but they were still good overall. Unfortunately, the ceviche Amarillo wasn't for me. The yellow sauce was very thick, and the flavor overpowered everything else. Dessert was the highlight of the meal. The guava cheesecake was absolutely delicious and easily my favorite dish of the night. The service was good, and everyone was attentive. My only observation was that there were quite a few management check-ins throughout the meal. I didn't mind it, but it felt like a little more than necessary. Overall, Carne delivers a great atmosphere, good service, and several dishes I'd order again. But the waitress we got her name Rosa also she was very dry not welcoming at all seemed bothered when we asked questions about the food and drinks. Also towards the end of the night when she brought the bill over we started looking over it since we were a big party and she rudely came by and said are you ready to pay or my manager can take it since I will be heading out like trying to rush us. We were just making sure everything was correct on the tab. After she said she had to leave she was still there 20 min after. For the service we received we won't be coming back here. There are in their first week of opening i believe. Plenty of seats indoor and outdoor. They had a few larger parties. More than 5 people. Great ambiance and look. Service: Seemed a bit slow. We needed to ask for water a couple of times before we got some. Bar drinks took a while to get to us. I also had to ask twice for a soda which I ordered after we recevied our entrees so I ordered that out of sequence. We finished the complimentary loaf of sourdough before we got any water or drinks. I would sugesst a new type of water jug because the small opening of the current ones leaves the server pouring for an awkward amount of time to fill a small glass. We did have a refill one time from someone walking around checking on water refills. Very friendly though. It was busy and I know working out the kinks the first week is needed. Sourdough was definiely really good and came with some soft, creamy delicious butter. Big load cut into four quarters. So good. Appetitezers: Ordered tartare and carpaccio. I have had tartare before and this one compare to the previous one I had was really different in taste. Great portion and servered with thin toasted slices of a bagette. Loved that. I am cuban and very critical of this as it is a staple in any cuban household. It was black beans and rice. *Forest Gump voice* Thats all I have to say about that. We had yukon gold mashed potato. The staple potato for a good mashed taters. Add a litte more salt. We had the mushrooms. Topped with cilantro. Ugh. Once I got pasted that it was good. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. I had visited before and had a great experience, which was why I decided to come back for this special occasion. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Unfortunately, our experience with the food this time was quite different from our previous visit. We ordered the steak medium, but from what we received, only a few pieces appeared to be medium while several pieces from the center were much more well-done than we expected. The steak was also noticeably tougher and chewier than we had hoped, and I personally had difficulty swallowing my first bite. The sides were enjoyable, especially the corn ribs, which were our favorite part of the meal. We understand that food quality and preparation can sometimes vary, but given the price point and our previous experience here, we were expecting a more consistent meal. My husband and I had an early dinner and it was so delicious! We ordered the Amarillo ceviche, picanha, and burrito, and two mocktails. Amazing Birthday Dinner -- We'll Definitely Be Back! We came to Carne Latin Fire Restaurant on Wednesday to celebrate our daughter's birthday, and we had an amazing experience from beginning to end. Every single dish we tried was delicious and full of flavor. You can definitely taste the difference in the quality of the ingredients, especially the meats. Everything tasted fresh and was prepared extremely well. The ambience was great as well. The restaurant has a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere that made it perfect for a birthday celebration. Between the food, music, atmosphere, and service, the evening really felt special. Our waitress was great, and the entire staff made us feel welcome. A special thank you to Rainer, the manager, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. The drinks were definitely on the strong side , but at least you know they're not holding back on the alcohol! What really impressed me happened the following day. I realized that one item I had requested for the birthday celebration had accidentally been missed. We had such a great time that night that I honestly forgot about it myself. When I went back the next day, I made sure to tell them how much we enjoyed our experience and that we would absolutely be returning. I mentioned the missing item to Rainer, and without hesitation, he took it upon himself to make it right. That gesture meant a lot to us and ended up making my wife's Thursday night as well. Thank you, Rainer, and thank you to the entire Carne staff. Great food, quality ingredients, great ambience, excellent service, and management that genuinely cares about the customer experience. This new restaurant has great Food and service. The server are very attentive and accommodating, the cocktails are great and dishes are delicious. They did not have smoke old fashioned drinks in the menu, but they made it for me. Really cool. The octopus was well done! And the red sauce was perfect level of heat. Dessert also delish.
