Sitting outside
Diann B.

We are here now. Hubby suggested to sit outside. He was right! Outside is amazing. I ordered the $25.99 Cadillac Margarita. It was fine. No complaints. We got our drinks in a decent amount of time. And yet. The wait for the food... it was too long. We ordered a la carte tacos. They are $7.00 each. I think that the shrimp taco with mango salsa was meh. C- My carne asada taco was a B-. I wish you had a red salsa. We were offered a brownish salsa. Hubby liked it warm & gives it a B+. My tacos & the green salsa were too citrus for me. Hubby, LOVED the green salsa. Hubby & I really like the presentation. B+. Hubby's favorite fish taco was the Al motor de Ajo (butter sauce). A- The Diablo taco wasn't too spicy. B Honey Lime taco = B. Our rating is a B which equates to 4 stars. Hubby has a rating system as he is in persuit of the best fish taco. We have been to several places.. and he rates Orozco's in his top 3. .

I came to Orozco's years ago for a friend's birthday (Thank you Linsey) and fell in love with the restaurant. I'll never forgot how Guillermo came and talked about why he created this very unique menu. The sweet stories from his childhood and mothers recipes was enough. BUT then the food came out! My husband became part of the Tomahawk club that day. I got the mojarra and this fish was so good and cooked to perfection. The beans the rice and warm salsa Yum!! Definitely a favorite. And everytime we go we always getting waited on by Morningstar. It's so cool that after years we still get served by her. She's awesome. It didn't end with the delicious food, and incredible service the outside seating it beautiful. You can just sit and take it all in or you can get up and because that playlist slaps! I need that playlist please!

My son's piano recital's have been held here for the last two years. I love that we have a spacious place that serves food to have the recitals! Shout to the Guillermo Orozco who is the owner of the restaurant. He is always walking around trying to help in anyway he can. I appreciate that he took the time to open the gate for my mom to be able to walk with her walker comfortably. He seems like a very friendly person. I wish the lady that took our order would have been a little more friendly and patient, but maybe she was just feeling overwhelmed by the amount of people ordering food. Other people in my party thought she was just plain rude. The food is authentic Mexican food. I had their Chile verde plate made with pork and green salsa. The Chile verde plate come with rice, beans and a salad. It was very tasty! I Just wish the portion was as generous as it was last time we were there for the recital. The inside of the restaurant is a little small, but the patio more than makes up for it!

What a hidden gem known by the locals! I ate here with dining companion who is a colleague. Excellent food choices with a hidden patio that had a cool singer doing rock songs in Spanish. I had very tasty bacon wrapped shrimp with a watermelon margarita. The ambiance is fun and friendly with efficient and knowledgeable waitstaff. Bring your money to the front to pay.

We walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't so busy. Staff were setting up for a reunion happening later that evening so they had their hostess act as our waitress too. She was a sweet lady, I can't recall her name, but it was something sweet, like Shooting Star. (?) The food was delicious, I ordered the fried fish, it was served with beans, rice, and house salad. My husband ordered their tacos, my daughter had the shrimp ceviche. All fresh and tasty. Another favorite part was the warm salsa they served with chips as we waited for our food. The atmosphere was nice and serene. We sat in the back. If you listen closely, you can hear the ocean waves from 2 miles away. You can also hear the trickle of their water fountains that surround the back patio. The location is quaint, located at the far end of Wharf Street, a little ways from the hustle and bustle and crowded parking area of other establishments up the way. We definitely will be back, and hopefully our next visit will include an order of their famous tomahawk steak. :)

Carne asada

I came here with my husband because we wanted to try a new (to us) Mexican restaurant. We parked on the street, it's got a pretty strange vibe - kind of mid on the outside, but from the outside you can see the white tablecloths so I thought it would be upscale. Then I sat down and when I went to scoot my chair in, exposed nail points (or maybe staples? I have no idea, something sharp) pricked my fingers. It was all together confusing. I felt along the chair and found 3+ sharp bits on each side where I'd hold the chair to scoot it in or out. At the very end of my meal I mentioned this to my server, and she acted like it was a known thing to the staff. I'm still giving them a 4 star review because my food was great and I wasn't bleeding or anything. The complimentary chips were the firm kind with tons of crunch. My favorite. I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and it was delicious, with juicy shrimp and a good amount of food. My husband got carne asada and I think it was a lot less meat than he would prefer but other than that he enjoyed it. They had live music on the night we were there, which made it difficult to converse with our server, but we managed. Overall I'd consider going back. But they really need to make the chairs safer (or at least that one chair).

The Cadillac does not disappoint!!!

Beautiful ambiance! Delicious food! Terrific service! I came here for a coworkers retirement party a few weeks ago and everyone was so happy with our meals and service. The outdoor dining patio was beautiful. Today I came back with my husband and again the food was delicious and the service excellent (I had the tropical ceviche and he the asada de Orozco plate). Star was our server and she was awesome!!! She also made our margaritas and they were soooo good! Guillermo the owner was very hospitable and friendly. We are looking forward to coming back in the future with family and friends!

Loved this gem! My husband got the ribeye and wow!! Amazing flavor. Loved the asada tacos as well. Should have tried the aguachiles as they looked amazing! We will come back 100%. We both appreciated authentic cooking and attentiveness of the owner and staff.

The one and only Guillermo the amazing owner, he is nice and welcoming, look at his smile it tells everything. And he is not bad looking.

We love this restaurant! Everything about it is amazing! The patio is gorgeous and you are so close to the ocean you can almost hear the waves. All the food that we have had is phenomenal. We especially love the garlic shrimp tacos and the guacamole. The guacamole is the very best guacamole anywhere it is fresh and chunky. I have been very disappointed when I've come and they were sold out. The owner Guillermo is one of the nicest people we have ever met. He really cares about his customers he treats us like family. Morning Star makes the best margaritas makes you want more and more. They are very dog friendly. We love love love this place. They sometimes get busy so the service may be a little slow at times, but enjoy the ambiance and the fact that you get to eat there! The food is very authentic if you want the best this is the place for you.

First time here. This spot is definitely a hidden gem and has so much potential! I'll tell you why... Friendly and inviting staff but maybe understaffed ? We had to flag down our waitress a twice to get some things but she was very sweet about it. Looked like she didn't get a break. We ordered: Chips and salsa (complimentary) . We couldn't stop eating this . They definitely have the salsa down to a T! Fresh Margaritas definitely did not taste like it was made with fresh limes . Tasted like it was made with a premix . If I had known I would've ordered a different drink. Fish tacos plate was A-Maziiiiiing! Need I say more?! Traditional Orozco Coctel was lacking so much flavor. Very mediocre. We added tapatillo asked for lime to put in but now I'm thinking it might've needed some ketchup and lemons ? Idk . Wanted to love it since it's been a long minute since I've had one. Orozco's Ribeye steak dinner was delicious but had so much fat on it I had to cut it out. Ok so their rice , on point ! And I'm so picky with rice . Beans were good Loved the side salad that came with each plate as a palate cleaner and refresher . I'd definitely come back to try a few more items . I'll just know next time to ask for a fresh fresh made margarita !

What a perfect spot !!! Such a fun atmosphere!! From the beginning to the end such a great place to eat have some drinks , , desserts and hang out with friends ! The music was off the hook !! With live singer !!! Everyone there was so sweet so attentive !! Even the gentleman ( Guillermo ) serving mimosas all morning always had a smile on his face ! He made jokes and kept us all full and happy !!!! I highly recommend this gem !!!

I was invited by a friend to try this place. She recommended it. We sat out in the back patio. It was very nice. Love the ambience. Our margaritas were good. Chips and salsa was good. I ordered the shrimp tacos. They were delicious and our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Definitely be back again.

Fajitas with a random side salad thrown in the corner, no dressing.

Okay, so I'm a little confused by this place. It has great potential, and the ambience is nice and somewhat dark making it a cool date spot. My first experience was very hit and miss. First, there was only one waitress, and though pleasant may have been overwhelmed. True, we had a big party, but we staggered in. We were the only new table of patrons. The only other table was paying their check. It took like 20 minutes to get our drinks Instead of carrying out a tray, she walked them out one drink in each hand. Hits: The tomahawk steak and ribeye steak platters were amazing in quantity and presentation. The chips they give you are homemade, warm, and salted perfectly. The table salsa they give you with your chips is perfectly balanced with spice and acidity. I could drink it. Ceviche looked great, as well. Misses: For listing wines, it only says "red", and "white". The tomahawk steak is $140. A steak like that at that price point deserves a wine list. No local beers on tap. We were told the steak fajitas were shareable, they're not. Fajitas were just okay. Corn tortillas fell apart immediately after first bite. Also...the drinks come out in plastic cups. Not very visually stimulating to have a $140 tomahawk steak with a margarita in a plastic cup behind it when you're wanting to share that on Instagram and impress people. Average price for a plate is around $30. I would definitely give this restaurant, another chance, for sure, and maybe try a couple of other items on the menu and see how they are.

Bomb fish tacos with fresh house mango salsa...yum.

But this spot completely exceeded our expectations. We ordered delivery, and even then, everything arrived fresh, well-packaged, and still absolutely delicious--which says a lot. The food was incredibly flavorful without being heavy or greasy (something that's hard to find). You could really taste the freshness in the ingredients, and every dish felt well-balanced and thoughtfully made. This is one of those places you don't necessarily expect to be that good, and then it totally delivers. We'll definitely be ordering again next time we're in Ventura!

For me, one of the best indicators that the food is going to be amazing is when there are dish photos on the menu. That alone sets the tone. The fresh salsa bar is a standout, and yes, they have Mexican Coke and cervezas. On weekends, don't miss the white pozole with crunchy rolled taquitos filled with ricotta-style queso and all the fresh fixings. Add that chili oil and thank me later. I also love their tacos, especially the veggie ones. I'm not vegetarian, but they're that good. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. Clean, bright, and no-frills in the best way. It feels like a true neighborhood taquería where you can come as you are, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your meal. I recently learned this is their first location, which makes it even better. It's family-owned, now with four locations across Santa Barbara, Oxnard, and Ventura County, yet it still feels grounded and local. You can dine in, take out, or order delivery. The place is spotless, service is quick, and the staff is genuinely kind. A solid go-to for quality Mexican food that hits every time.

I've eaten at 3 of their locations, and perhaps this location may be slightly more geared to 'gringo' tastes. But overall, very satisfying, just didn't have that fully tacqueria taste. I have really enjoyed their veggie Papas and rajas tacos at the Avenue location. This may be the best tacqueria for vegetarians, more options. Staff here tends to be younger (college ages), and generally very friendly. I actually sometimes just stop in for their Horchata. It's not homemade (as that is a very difficult drink to make!) but I find it satisfying. In general all the prices here are reasonable, less than some other places that are charging 15-17 for burritos. This is a strong recommendation if you are downtown and craving casual Mexican eats!
