Cleanliness was a major concern. The tables were dirty, and the menus appeared to be wiped down with nothing more than a dirty, wet cloth rather than a disinfectant. I didn't feel comfortable letting my baby touch anything, including the high chair. The bathrooms were also in poor condition and looked unclean. The panuchos were decent, but the lettuce was wilted, the avocado was black, and the guacamole clearly wasn't fresh. Place was OK. I was turned off when I got my unsweetened, no flavor, no alcohol with a black thing floating in it (see picture) mango margarita. It was a HH margarita so maybe that is why??? This place will not be worth it for me to come back for the regular menu. Service was not that great, I had to waive my waiter down for El Tapatio and the bill considering it was not crowded. I noticed that as a party of one I can sit anywhere, but then parties of two or more are dictated on where to sit, which I guess is a way to balance the service layout. You can really taste the care in how everything is cooked, especially the fried flautas and fried calamari tacos, so good for sharing! I also had the carne asada fries and it was so delicious and the flavor twist was so unique. I've never tried Yucatán-style flavors, but these were so delicious I'll have to come back for more entree tasting! In my continued search for the best breakfast burrito, I tried this place. I ordered over the phone and it was hot and ready when I arrived. I appreciated the generous salsa and awesome bag of chips. Ham breakfast burrito - really good. The tortilla is tasty, different from others. I only wish it was a tad bit bigger. GETTING HERE: La Parrilla is located on Ashwood in Ventura. It's in the CVS shopping center and next door to the cleaners. REVIEW: Great food. Great service. Really and truly. Decided to stop in (during lunch rush, oops) for a bite. Inside, it's a tad cramped, but obviously didn't change my food or review. :) They were packed, so it took a few moments to be seated (but a packed house is a good sign!). We were greeted quickly and were able to place our orders just as quick. The two employees on this side of the kitchen were HUSTLING. V impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chilaquiles (I am a creature of habit obvi) and my guest was so happy with her Shrimp Fajitas. I love the smoke and steam when the Fajitas are brought to the table; it's my favorite. The chips were fantastic and the red sauce didn't burn my mouth. Went here this morning with a group of 15 for breakfast. We took over a couple sets of tables but they accommodated us easily. Host/server sat us down, got our drink orders and got those out in a couple minutes. Food ordered and served in maybe 10 minutes, I wasn't checking my watch as we were all chatting. We ordered a variety of foods, from breakfast burritos to chilaquiles to my machaca con huevos. They all looked good and everyone reported back that they enjoyed their food. Coffees and water were refilled as requested, we didn't feel rushed nor did we feel that we waited too long for anything. They allowed us to individually pay instead of as a group, and no tip was added to each persons bill as you might expect for a group of our size. I hope we all tipped them well as the service and food was great and they deserve a very good tip. Definitely will come back here by myself or with others. We arrived at about 7:00 PM on Saturday evening. We were surprised to see that the place was practically empty. Way different than past busy vibe. No problem getting a table, but we had to wait for a while, and when the waitress finally got to us she informed us that they had no salsa. At first we were in shock. She said they ran out earlier and they told the chefs to make more, but they for whatever reason hadn't made any. We asked if maybe we can have some of their Pico de Gallo as a substitute. The waitress said she had to ask the manager. She came back and said the manager told her to bring us out this watery tomato sauce that hat virtually no taste and then she said that she could only bring the Pico de Gallo to us if we were going to pay full price for it. It wasn't the payment that was an issue, as we had no idea what the payment would be, but more the whole scenario and waitresses aloof attitude that made us get up and walk out of the place. The sad part is, we had been here many times before and really enjoyed the place, but the last time we visited was over a year ago. Came here because my friend recommended it. I love the chips they were such a good texture and fresh, the salsa had good flavor but just not enough heat. I ordered shredded beef nachos and a chile relleno burrito (I was sharing food) the nachos were ok the beef was tender and flavorful. The only complaint was the pickled carrot and onions on there were random and too sour. The burrito was very nice and huge, could have used more cheese. The service at first was great so nice and quick. Our waitress went on lunch though half way through which happens and is fine but after she left it was like we were forgotten. My father in law, stated "everything is excellent!" I was very pleased with the staff, who were friendly and most accommodating to our needs.
