My mom and I got seated right away and they even have a bluegrass band playing which was wonderful. We got some drinks and they also brought waters. All of the servers were very friendly. Our waitress told us her favorite was the Hawaiian Ahi poke appetizer and it was amazing! My mom doesn't normally like raw fish but she tried it and loved it. We ordered fish and chips and I got the grilled cod with rice pilaf. And my favorite off all the items was definitely the Hawaiian Ahi poke then the fish and chips. The batter on the fish and the flakiness of the fish was perfect. The poke was perfectly seasoned and tender. We also shared a cup of clam chowder and the clams were tender not chewy at all!! The only thing that was just ok was the grilled fish. It was under seasoned and overcooked. The pilaf was yummy. I still ate the grilled fish because I don't like to waste food but I needed to season and add tartar sauce and I never like to use tartar sauce. We will definitely come back to Boatyard pub, they have a great staff, great music, delicious drinks and shareable fish and chips.

Great food, great location, great vibes, what more could you want for a Sunday brunch? Don't look any further because Boatyard pub hit all those marks for me this past weekend. Located on Ventura Harbor with plenty of parking on site. 1st hour of parking is free when you scan the QR codes posted through out the lot, you will need to pay after the 1st hour. Just a heads up on this. This resteraunt has a great menu with a nice variety. Prices are ok, your on the beach what can you expect. They recently got renovated so the restseraunt is really nice and modern. My service here each time has been good. This last time I grabbed an order of calamari and a beef crunchy taco and they both were INCREDIBLE. The calamari was cooked to perfection and such a large order. The beef taco was incredibley flavorful and probably the best beef tacos I've had in Ventura county. Overall the food here is very tastey so come on down here and give them a try.

3 years later and boatyard pub is still one of my fave places to grab a drank and apps when the sun is out and the fresh air is coming in through their patio. We ordered : Cup of clam chowder always hits the spot for me here. When I feel like splurging I'll have it in their bread bowl. 5/5 Calamari was cut and battered light just the way I like it but it was a bit on the greasy side like others had mentioned. Nothing that would stop me from ordering again though. 4/5 Ganja roll was not it for me. It sounds like a sushi roll but definitely is nothing like sushi. It's tuna, rolled with shiso leaf and tempura battered them fried. It was very bland on its own but a little better when double dipped in their sesame fire sauce and ginger ponzu . 3/5 Spinnaker's hot crab dip was so creamy and delicious on its own but then I topped it with a side of their coleslaw (the one that comes with their fish n chips and not their Asian coleslaw) and it was even better! Don't knock it till you try it .5/5 Fish n chips in my opinion is pretty good here. It's lightly battered and not too greasy . Fish is juicy and tartar sauce just right . That coleslaw is perfect with it . 5/5 Mai tai hit the spot. Not too sweet nor too tart . 5/5 Cucumber mojito was a good refreshing balance of cucumbers, mint, lime rum and spritzer. 5/5 Service is usually always good. When they get busy they get busy . Be nice, they're trying to be in 5 places all at once.

    8 dog rules.

Came here with my dog this morning at 11am. Not busy at all especially the patio area. The hostess sat us right in the sun. I had to chain my dog to a wall and she could barely get to the shade. I had to scoot the table over so I can put a chair over her to just shade her. And I got a massive ridiculous list of 'dog rules' on top of that which made us feel very unwelcome and other dog owners are feeling this way per the reviews further down. If you're going to be this strict about dogs. Just say you aren't dog friendly anymore. I almost felt like I'd have to ask if it was ok to pet my own dog at one point with all the rules.

Probably one of my go tos when at the Ventura Harbor. My sisters and I love holiday themed bars this December boatyard had those cool Christmas drinks and nice holiday decoration. The drinks are pretty strong and good. We also ordered fries which were so good and the calamari were actual calamari. None of that fake stuff. Staff was nice even though we stopped in an hour before they closed. I love the new patio, but it was too cold for us to sit outside when we went. We definitely will be back since we loved the service food and drinks.

The service was excellent and the food was good. Nothing really jumped out at you. We had fish and chips. They were the signature dish here. They were ok. The clam chowder was their other hitter. It was ok. Most things were ok. The fried shrimp were the best thing but nothing special. Really the price to value proposition hurts this place. It was ok but the prices demand excellent. It's an ok place.

Wow! Where has this restaurant been hiding from us? Without plans, we decided to enjoy breakfast at the Boatyard Pub with a group of 11 and a dog! They were so accommodating! The menu has a great selection of breakfast favorites. I had the Brioche French toast which was delicious. The service was on point and we had a great time! Make sure to stop by when you're in the Ventura Harbor!

Steak and Lobster and steak and shrimp dinners. Side salads are huge.

New Year's Eve dinner here was great! The steak and lobster special $24 was superb. Prompt service by Jorge. Food came fast and was a very generous portion. Fun atmosphere and the area was decorated beautifully. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Salad portions are huge. Ask to be delivered on a separate plate.

They made more space and seemed to provided more support to their staff, which is great if given the right supports! And keep MackandD coming back and back, they are simply amazing muscians.

Crab dip, cup clam chowder and most ridiculously over priced we'll drink ever.

Originally wanted to go to Brophy Brothers but it was a Saturday around 6pm and the wait was an hour. Ended up at the pub and ordered clam chowder (ok), crab dip (good) but came with bread that would have done better toasted or somehow crispier. Order seafood combo with fish (ok), shrimp (over cooked) and scallops (good). They had music so we asked to be seated away and they accommodated. Service was ok. Could have gotten something similar at Red Lobster cheaper and my biggest gripe was cost of well drink being same as specialty drinks. Will not be going back.

steak and scallops. surf and turf with rice and mashed potatoes.

Staff is very welcoming. immediately seated despite the business being busy and being a single patron. Server immediately took my drink order and talked me through the menu in which case I was able to order dinner at the same time. I ordered steak and scallops skewered and an IPA. Awkward: the restaurant has no restrooms. you have to lea e and walk a 100 feet to a public facility. The Filet Mignon was supposed to come on skewers medium rare but came as a 6oz. I pointed it out and it took 10 minutes to reprepare. it came back with sesame and a sauce and was now well done. Scallops are now cold but flavorful. I'm disappointed that a $55.00 6oz surf and turf came with 3 one inch round Scallops as the "surf". I asked ahead of time how many Scallops came with the meal and tge response was "market price". They both taste fine. Not bad, not great, but fine. It's about 1930 and I now understand that people come here for the bar. I guess I expected something more. I went out of my way to come here. free parking Monday through Thursday. not sure about cost. The server is very attentive and has been by multiple times. This place is okay. You might like it but I dont see any reason to come back here.

This was my second time at the Boatyard Pub. We got cod and shrimp and chips combo and the crusted cod. I really enjoyed my meal! The service was okay. The location on the harbor is unbeatable. Overall, I would come visit again!

First Visit to Boatyard Pub Tried out Boatyard Pub for the first time today for lunch with my twin sons. Honestly, the food was just okay--not bad, but it wasn't great. We definitely discovered that this spot leans much more into the "pub" side of things than a traditional restaurant. A few things to note from our experience: * The Highlights: The strawberry lemonade was very good! * The Vibe: Apparently, it's a "dog" pub! We noticed dogs inside the restaurant, not just on the patio. * Service: Our server only checked on us once. We even asked for a water pitcher since we drink a lot of water, but it didn't happen. * The Wait: The wait for the food was a bit more than the usual. * Facilities: Be prepared for a little walk--you actually have to go outside to use the restrooms. Overall, it was an alright experience, but probably more of a spot for a quick drink than a full family meal. #BoatyardPub #VenturaHarbor #FamilyLunch #TwinSons #HonestReview #DogFriendly #PubLife #FirstVisit

I told Dear Hubby that fish & chips at the harbor seemed like a great idea, and he agreed. Initially, I tried to get us a table upstairs at Brophy Brothers, overlooking the water. That was going to be about an hour's wait, so we retreated downstairs to Brophy's fast casual option - On The Alley. Essentially, it's the same fish & chips recipe, so all good there. The line was short and moved pretty quickly. While DH finished up ordering, I went out to the indoor-outdoor room to scout a table. I wasn't able to get one against the window, but we were still able to have a water view, just a bit further away. DH was hungry, so he ordered a burger, as well as the fish & chips. He shared a small portion of said burger, and it was really good. At a Brophy's establishment, I think of seafood, but thumbs up on that burger! The portion of fries they provided were extra generous. We missed having Adored Granddaughter with us, as she would have help demolish those fries! We brought some home to revive in the air fryer. I only had water, as they don't really have any beverage options that work with my restrictive dietary preferences. (i.e., no caffeine, and low- or no-sugar). The fish & chips hit the spot, although the fish was somewhat oilier than usual. DH got a cup of their delicious clam chowder, which was served with their delicious sourdough bread. That I got to have some of, and happier for it. Sunday afternoon at the harbor made for a great spot to people-watch. There were lots of folks who seemed like they had come from points east to get a break from the heat, just like us. We all tend to have a look that doesn't portray "Ventura local". Lots of young families, which was nice to see. Made us miss our granddaughter, for sure.

Finding a restaurant that can handle our motley crew including a senior citizen with a walker and a very camera ready little dog has its challenges. Curiosity got the best of me because it looked like a house so I decided to dig a little bit more into it. Apparently, it's a 1920s Spanish bungalow They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is attentive and very friendly. Now the food... Oh man, it was delicious!! I was eating healthy and got just a plain chicken bowl and that was really nothing to write about, but that was my fault because who gets that when surrounded by such yummy food like Strawberry Matcha pancakes or Churro French Toast with kiwi, banana, berries and chantilly cream ‍ Anyways, we got the maple bacon beignets for the table and wow, that was delicious. Warm, fluffy, sweet, salty... yummm!! My son got the 2+2+2. At $23 it was a little pricey for two eggs, 2 bacon and 2 pancakes, but the pancakes were huge and barely fit on the plate. The bacon was also very thick and tasty. Warning: That the house made vanilla caramel syrup they serve is super addicting and you're gonna want to drizzle everything with it!! Everyone else at the table was really happy with what they ordered. Someone also ordered a biscuit on the side and that was by far the fluffiest biscuit I had ever seen. Usually they can be dry and hard, but this one was quite opposite. I've seen other pictures online and I guess it can be a hit or a miss because they don't seem to be consistent. Walked right over to Dukes which is literally foot steps from the beach. To my surprise, not only was it pretty busy with the World Cup on every TV, but impressively, it didn't stop the service or kitchen from being super fast. Very impressive. I ordered to go this time so I could get back to parenting and enjoying the weather. Had to be quick so I could enjoy my time before it cools down and my sunburn fully sets in. I ordered the Gizmo which is basically a grilled chicken club on sourdough. It was great. Really don't have anything to add to that other than I would highly recommend it. Anyone who doesn't love a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich might have some taste bud issues... It came with in-house made potato chips and those were also wonderful. I smashed that thing and literally went right to sleep in my chair. What a perfect beach day thanks to Dukes. To add to my food experiences and recommendations here, the time before this, I ordered the fish and chips. In my case it was the fried fish and sweet potato fries. It was so flavorful and crispy. I highly recommend eating it there or hopefully near by so it doesn't lose that fresh crunch. However, you have to get any and all fries with their Ranch. I had to get extra as I couldn't seem to get enough. Obviously every fry needed to have a disgusting amount of ranch on it. Everything I had from here so far has been incredibly tasty and I would recommend it anytime you're in the area. Last December, a friend came across The Cave while looking for a place to have lunch in Ventura and…read moresuggested we give it a try. I'm really glad he did because it's the kind of place I probably wouldn't have found on my own. The first thing that caught our attention was the self-serve wine dispensers lined with bottles ready to sample. We had a lot of fun walking back and forth, looking over the different selections, and deciding what to taste next. Being able to sample wines by the ounce before committing to a full glass made the whole experience feel interactive. I especially liked that I could compare different Cabernet Sauvignons side by side, which isn't something you get to do very often. After trying a few different Cabernets, Chimney Rock ended up being my favorite. The dining room added to the experience. The cave-like ceilings, warm lighting, and comfortably spaced tables made it easy to settle in, enjoy our lunch, and catch up without feeling cramped or rushed. If you enjoy trying different wines, it's easy to lose track of time here. We started with a cheese plate, which turned out to be much more generous than I expected. It came with a nice assortment of cheeses, crisp apple slices, grapes, candied walnuts, crostini, and a savory relish on the side. It was a great dish to share with our wine. My friend ordered the tuna poke tower, and we shared the cheese flatbread and sweet potato fries. I went with the Original Cave Salad with salmon, which came with a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon over fresh greens, apples, grapes, walnuts, and blue cheese. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. One thing I appreciated was that we never felt rushed. Lunch naturally turned into an afternoon of catching up, comparing notes on the different wines, and deciding which pours we wanted to try next. Before we left, we wandered through the wine shop one more time. If you discover a favorite during lunch, you can pick up a bottle before heading home, which is a nice touch. I'm really glad my friend found this place. The next time I'm in Ventura, it'll definitely be on my list again.

Had a baby shower scheduled on a Saturday and left completely disappointed. Firstly, we scheduled…read morethis event and paid a deposit well over 6 weeks ago. The day before, the owner Michele couldn't seem to find the paperwork where we discussed menu, family style, decor, budget etc. Thankfully, we went in the day before to double check everything. Not only were we met with a misogynistic retort to everything we talked about but he did not clarify any details that we later found out would be important. The day of the event, we accidentally hit a bottle of wine bringing in the decorations. Total accident! During the party, we had to constantly find our server (super nice guy but terrible service) to take drink orders, to take food orders, and to clear the table and bring to go boxes. Drinks weren't refilled. We cut and served the cake we brought. Then our bill comes and surprising to us, we were charged a room fee (which I confirmed they DID NOT have prior to booking), charged a cake fee (just for them to store it in their fridge and NEVER told there would be a fee for bringing a dessert, despite Michele asking the day before if we were bringing our own or using them for dessert), and he charged us $50 for the bottle we accidentally broke. With all these extra charges, in addition to already paying a deposit, we were way over the previously discussed budget. I never would have agreed to his idea of everyone ordering individual dishes instead of family style plus his outrageous extra fees had I know it was going to blow the budget. He had every opportunity to tell us there is a cake fee (never have I EVER had to pay a fee to bring a cake- even our server said he felt it was in poor taste to charge us for that). We refused to pay the room fee because we already put down a deposit and were never told there would be these extraneous charges! The terrible ending happened when I slipped and fell (8 months pregnant) in the front of the restaurant RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE OWNER, who stood over me as I was on the ground, and said "you must have slipped on the wine you spilled." Never offered concern, never offered to help me and never apologized. A staff member from the kitchen ran out to help me despite Michel being an arms length from me, looking down on me. Such a disgrace. My dress was dirtied from their floor and I was left with bruises on my knees the next day. No wet floor sign, clearly the floor wasn't cleaned up properly or dried. We will never patronize this restaurant again. What was meant to be a beautiful event turned into a calamity met with a chauvinist owner who lacks customer service and compassion.

We came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We each ordered a cocktail. She got a blueberry margarita and I got a cucumber gin mixed drink. Both were refreshing and delicious. We ended up ordering another round. For appetizers we ordered the crispy maple Brussels and tuna & salmon tartare. The Brussels were fried to perfection and glazed a sweet maple syrup. It also came with thick cuts of bacon. Definitely recommend this. For the tartare, it was also delicious and fresh. It was mixed with avocado and turnip. We thought the turnip would be off putting but it actually meshed well with the flavors. Came with fried wonton chips. For the main course we shared the NY strip and Lobster Malfaldine. The steak was cooked to perfection with a very nice sear and flavored well. Probably one of the better steaks I've ever had. Definitely beats out any steakhouse steak. The Lobster Malfaldine was also absolutely delicious. Most of the time, lobster pasta is usually a bit bland and lacking in lobster. NOT HERE. They included big chunks of lobster and the sauce was so good. Lastly, we ended our dinner with the Strawberry Hand Pie. This is basically a warm strawberry strudel with vanilla bean ice cream. They used locally sourced strawberries and I'm still thinking about it as I'm writing this review. Adrienne was our server and she was very nice and attentive. Since it was my girlfriend's birthday, they comped our dessert. Super nice staff!

Beer Pressure…read more Classic American Pub located in Ventura that features over one hundred beers on tap and classic American comfort foods in a surprisingly family-friendly environment. The Good: * Beyond all the beers on tap, they also have a full bar. * Service was friendly and pretty good overall. * Secret menu for both food and drink. Shhhh...! * Their wings were fantastic! You've really gotta try the Strawbanero (Strawberry-Habanero) sauce, as it was a sweet and savory bite that had all three of us fighting over. * Buffalo Barrels (aka Tater Tots) were worth the $5 upgrade. But, I'm somewhat of a Tater Tot junkie, so take that advice for what it's worth. * Fries were fantastic, as well. * Short Rib Melt was delicious, but very, very rich. It could've used a little relief like some pickles either on it or on the side. The Meh: * They do have their own parking lot, but it is smallish and can fill up fast. There is some street parking available, as well. The Ugly: * They had a lot of beers that were out of commission, including several that I was pretty excited to try. =/ Conclusion: Great spot to get your suds and spuds!

The cocktail menu features ingredients from Ventura Spirits, Mario's Hard Espresso, local breweries, and other Central Coast makers, giving the drinks a real sense of place. I've especially enjoyed their cocktail program because it feels creative without being pretentious. I also love the concept. It's more than just a bar--you can enjoy a drink while browsing a thoughtfully curated collection of local goods, making it a fun place to bring friends or visitors from out of town. I haven't tried the food yet, so I can't speak to the bar menu, but based on the drinks, atmosphere, and commitment to highlighting local products, The Livery is a unique addition to downtown Ventura and a spot I find myself returning to.

We didn't order food because we had already eaten, but the Rosarita margarita was a nice refreshing cocktail. I also purchased a non-toxic pumpkin spice candle. It smelled heavenly burning on display and I couldn't pass it up. It's a subtle smell of pumpkin spice and fall. I love it! I can't wait to come back and purchase some of the beautiful glassware. I'll take more pictures of the shopping area next time.
