The service was excellent and the food was good. Nothing really jumped out at you. We had fish and chips. They were the signature dish here. They were ok. The clam chowder was their other hitter. It was ok. Most things were ok. The fried shrimp were the best thing but nothing special. Really the price to value proposition hurts this place. It was ok but the prices demand excellent. It's an ok place.

3 years later and boatyard pub is still one of my fave places to grab a drank and apps when the sun is out and the fresh air is coming in through their patio. We ordered : Cup of clam chowder always hits the spot for me here. When I feel like splurging I'll have it in their bread bowl. 5/5 Calamari was cut and battered light just the way I like it but it was a bit on the greasy side like others had mentioned. Nothing that would stop me from ordering again though. 4/5 Ganja roll was not it for me. It sounds like a sushi roll but definitely is nothing like sushi. It's tuna, rolled with shiso leaf and tempura battered them fried. It was very bland on its own but a little better when double dipped in their sesame fire sauce and ginger ponzu . 3/5 Spinnaker's hot crab dip was so creamy and delicious on its own but then I topped it with a side of their coleslaw (the one that comes with their fish n chips and not their Asian coleslaw) and it was even better! Don't knock it till you try it .5/5 Fish n chips in my opinion is pretty good here. It's lightly battered and not too greasy . Fish is juicy and tartar sauce just right . That coleslaw is perfect with it . 5/5 Mai tai hit the spot. Not too sweet nor too tart . 5/5 Cucumber mojito was a good refreshing balance of cucumbers, mint, lime rum and spritzer. 5/5 Service is usually always good. When they get busy they get busy . Be nice, they're trying to be in 5 places all at once.

Wow! Where has this restaurant been hiding from us? Without plans, we decided to enjoy breakfast at the Boatyard Pub with a group of 11 and a dog! They were so accommodating! The menu has a great selection of breakfast favorites. I had the Brioche French toast which was delicious. The service was on point and we had a great time! Make sure to stop by when you're in the Ventura Harbor!

Probably one of my go tos when at the Ventura Harbor. My sisters and I love holiday themed bars this December boatyard had those cool Christmas drinks and nice holiday decoration. The drinks are pretty strong and good. We also ordered fries which were so good and the calamari were actual calamari. None of that fake stuff. Staff was nice even though we stopped in an hour before they closed. I love the new patio, but it was too cold for us to sit outside when we went. We definitely will be back since we loved the service food and drinks.

They made more space and seemed to provided more support to their staff, which is great if given the right supports! And keep MackandD coming back and back, they are simply amazing muscians.

New Year's Eve dinner here was great! The steak and lobster special $24 was superb. Prompt service by Jorge. Food came fast and was a very generous portion. Fun atmosphere and the area was decorated beautifully. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Salad portions are huge. Ask to be delivered on a separate plate.

First Visit to Boatyard Pub Tried out Boatyard Pub for the first time today for lunch with my twin sons. Honestly, the food was just okay--not bad, but it wasn't great. We definitely discovered that this spot leans much more into the "pub" side of things than a traditional restaurant. A few things to note from our experience: * The Highlights: The strawberry lemonade was very good! * The Vibe: Apparently, it's a "dog" pub! We noticed dogs inside the restaurant, not just on the patio. * Service: Our server only checked on us once. We even asked for a water pitcher since we drink a lot of water, but it didn't happen. * The Wait: The wait for the food was a bit more than the usual. * Facilities: Be prepared for a little walk--you actually have to go outside to use the restrooms. Overall, it was an alright experience, but probably more of a spot for a quick drink than a full family meal. #BoatyardPub #VenturaHarbor #FamilyLunch #TwinSons #HonestReview #DogFriendly #PubLife #FirstVisit

Went for breakfast while rigging our bikes so we went for liter fair menu and it was perfect size for two or us it was I to $28 very good price for breakfast. The service was spot on super friendly. The patio is nice and clean rather peaceful. We went back for dinner the next day tried the clam chowder was really tasty the sourdough was fantastic.

Nice little find at the Ventura Harbor. Enjoyed a couple of drinks, including a tasty Lychee Martini and a Cranberry Mule, and also had a happy hour poke dish which was delightful and a side of garlic fries. The garlic fries were really more like Parmesan fries versus garlic fries, but nonetheless still tasty. Would totally go back again and since it's around the holidays, currently the decorations were absolutely adorable.

Chicken fried steak. House-made corned beef hash in back (both were excellent)

Service: Great, friendly and checked back often. Vibe: Good - we sat in the bar area and it is pretty old school, but clean Food: Great - the best chicken fried steak I can remember in many years. Breading was well-seasoned, crispy from start to finish, did not fall off the meat, and was not over thick. Potatoes were also excellent. Could be because everything is fried in beef tallow. Gravy - finally one worth eating, and it did not sog out the breading at all.

We were here for a girls trip. We stayed on a boat and came here to eat for breakfast, dinner and just for the drinks. The atmosphere was great, it was decorated for St Patty's day. Our bartender, waitresses and waiters were all very friendly. Food came out quick and delicious. I highly recommend.

I'm Still driving the OAP's thats an British term for... I was directed to stop here in the Ventura Marina because there are several choices for dinner. No questions asked I'm a Pub Guy. Happy Hour is a good time to be here, a pleasant atmosphere, good (live solo guitar) music, golf or soccer on the screen, and a friendly staff. The pub looks pretty clean for a place thats supposed to have a divey Pub genera, I'm in. I'll try the clam chowder and some Halibut fish and chips, with coleslaw. All of this is on my go to page, so lets see...Chowder could have been hotter temperature for me but outstanding flavor and good mix of potato to clams. I was surprised how good the halibut and chips looked, they tasted even better and very good slaw. Four decent thick strips of Halibut & thick 1/4" fries. The slaw had a good mix of purple cabbage and it was all cut very fine, string like, with a good dressing. Tartar sauce no doubt made here too, good stuff. There was a steak (filet) and lobster special for $30, you won't pay that if you made it yourself. We head back to Paso but I'm down south quite a bit and I just found a great locals spot to take a break. Foodguy-martin

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.
