When did they start having large sizes!!! When i came a few months ago they obly had regular for years. Im glad they finally have large now. I usually get the iced milk with honey boba. Its the perfect sweetness but since the milk is kind if slushy and the boba is hot, there always seems to not be enough ice. I keep forgetting that you can get real food here. The prices are insane. Its soo affordable. Need to remind myself to dine in. Parking in the plaza or in the parking lot at the street next to the plaza that says additiinal parking.
Stopped by for a quick meal after work. I used to come here often so Im super familiar with their foods. Ordered the good old time special soup which comes with veggies and a combination of squid balls, squid, intestines, etc. the soup is taiwanese style so its thicker than usual soup but delivers a nostalgic taste to those who love taiwanese food. Also got an old fashion black tea which is a classic taiwanese tea drink with a unique taste. The experience could have been 4 stars but I took down 1 star for the ridiculous price increase. A small bowl of soup without noodles or carbs is $14 which is ridiculous because I can pay $2-3 more and get a bowl of noodles with real meat thats double the size. Their drinks are in smaller cups but the price is not that much cheaper so definitely a steep price increase since the last time when I was there. Service was ok. I was the only one in the store and it took around 15 minutes for the small bowl of soup to come out. Parking: they have a small lot for the plaza and separate parking next to the plaza.
I ordered take out to try the minced pork rice. The food and service came fairly quickly. The minced pork rice felt mushy and too peppery. Personally I wouldn't order this again. Vibe: Super cute interior, giving it an old Asia kinda feel. I would probably come back and try other dishes with friends/fam!

Really watered down drinks but really cheap prices. I can see this being good for middle or high school students who want to cool off with a sweet milk tea drink, but it was watered down and I couldn't bear to finish it.
This spot has a nice "good old time" vibe with its Taiwanese retro-style interior. The restaurant is small, with 4-5 tables and a tiny bar area, but the menu offers a good variety of authentic Taiwanese street food. We're glad to have a place like this serving authentic food in the area. Portions are a bit small and drinks (especially the papaya milk) are slightly watered-down. The service is fast but can be more attentive. Note: There's a 3% surcharge for credit card payments.
We were in the mood for some authentic Taiwanese food and stumbled upon this little eatery. Never knew that Half & Half serve food! So we were excited to try. They offer several different rice and noodle options but honestly I think the ordering system is a bit confusing. You have to mark it on a plastic menu with a dry erase marker, then go place the order and pay at the cashier station. The inside decor is cute and casual. There are no chairs with back support. All they have are round stools. Parking is a bit challenging given that it's in a plaza that has several eateries.
I always order takeout from here when I'm craving minced pork pickle rice. It may look small, but it's the perfect portion for me since they're pretty generous with the rice. I also really like their popcorn chicken. I ordered a drink this time and even with 50% sugar, it still tasted really sweet to me. Parking can be very difficult since they're in a busy plaza and they share parking lots with Nem, Old Ferry Donut, and etc. I usually have to double park and run in just to grab my to go order.
Today I was happy to get a Taiwanese shaved ice. I so disappointed to the lack of the 4 flavors including red beans, aloe, grass jello & lychee jello. The container is huge with over 90% shaved ice. I thought it maybe layered that I won't see it at the bottom. Yet I found probably less than 20 red beans, others flavors also little. I basically eating brown sugar water with shaved ice. It cost me $15. If you are short of any ingredients, you should ask if the customer wants to change the ingredients. Should I be upset it should be less than one star but the gal took my order was courteous and helpful.

Comedy. Gold. Timing. Literally our fault! Drinks are cheaper and smaller than Half & Half Tea House, but the sesame milk tea? Oh honey, it's SESAME. None of that "whisper of flavor" nonsense. Just pure, nutty, glorious sesame energy. I'm obsessed and slightly offended I didn't come sooner.
The food bring you back to Taiwan!!! Delicious and close enough that you feel like you're back in Taiwan. Portion size is a bit on the smaller size but tastey is pretty authentic. The topping is a the smaller portion side tho but they give you enough shave ice to cover all that lol Ambiance is very Taiwanese bring you back to the good old times lol this the name Would recommend coming I'll definitely be coming back to try out more if there other stuff
It's a cute small shop with a few tables on the side. It is such a nostalgic place you would go to with your friends when you were in high school. I haven't gotten half and half in so long so this was a treat.we sat down at a table and they took our order there. If you are ordering to go you can just order at the cashier. I got the ice milk with caramel pudding and boba. I also shared the appetizer combo with my friend. Both were delicious! Definitely more of a place to get snacks rather than a meal.
I was perusing around Mission View Plaza in San Gabriel. I came across Half & Half Good Old Time and thought if they are related to the Half and Half Tea Express in Arcadia. It turns out they are part of the same amazing Half & Half family. I love it! I've only been to the Arcadia location prior to this one. I intend to visit all of them as my food travels permit LOL. I looked at their menu from the outside window before walking in. I didn't know what to expect, but this place actually has inside dining unlike the Arcadia location that doesn't. There are about 5 tables plus a bar seating area. Inside space is quite limited IMHO. They serve more than just boba drinks. They also have noodle soups, noodle dishes, rice plates, tea snacks, fried snacks, soy pudding, shaved ice, cold tremella (fyi, genus of fungi in the family Tremellacea), ice cream, fresh teas, old fashion drinks, flavored teas, iced milk drinks, osmanthus, fresh juices, flavored drinks, milk teas, slushes, smoothies, coffee, yogurt drinks, and lemonades. WOW! Now that is one massive food and drink menu. Let's have a good old time, shall we? LOL I barely scratched the surface in getting one soy pudding with wintermelon juice flavor plus red bean and grass jelly. It had good portion, but it lacked red bean... wished there were more of it. Soy pudding and grass jelly were abundant. Soy was denser than I would have preferred... wished it was silkier and with more sweetness. Love the wintermelon flavor and grass jelly! The young ladies who took my order were pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Half & Half has always been my go-to boba spot, but it was my first time trying this location! I came around 1pm on a Monday, and there was plenty of parking. Inside, there were a couple of people eating. Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered my usual: iced milk drink with honey boba & egg pudding (large). I heard you get a discount if you pay via cash which I did. You can imagine my surprise when the total came out to $4.66 which is so cheap!! I will note their cup sizes are smaller than other Half & Half locations, but the sizes here are comparable to most boba shops, so their price is still a steal! As always, my drink was so yummy. Quality and taste is the same as other locations! I'll definitely visit this spot more often since it's more affordable and tastes just as great! read more
Came here for some shaved ice but wanted something savory as well. Parking can be tricky but there is also street parking along the adjacent street. This location has several small tables (4 seaters) and a long communal counter top for seating. I like that they have Taiwanese rice and noodles dishes but also have your usual half and half drinks. It's self seating, ordering at the cash register, and self-bussing after you finish. They have an AC unit but it still felt pretty warm inside. They have old school Chinese and Cantonese songs playing, giving the place a nostalgic feel. Portions are on the smaller side which allows you to try more items. I got the coconut curry noodles with clear noodles, shredded chicken cold noodles, and a traditional Taiwanese shaved iced that comes with 4 toppings. This was a good amount for 2 people. The coconut curry noodles were spicier than expected, and had a good amount of seafood and toppings in it. It also comes with a drink, and I chose wintermelon tea which was really sweet. The shredded chicken noodles were refreshing with the soy sauce and sesame sauce they use, but a bit on the salty side. The shaved ice was perfect for the hot weather, and is served with extra brown sugar syrup and condensed milk if you want to add to what is already provided. I chose red bean, green bean, grass jelly and pudding for my toppings, and my favorite was the pudding. Overall I'd come here again for a bite and shaved ice, be prepared for a full parking lot! read more

I adore Half and Half Good Old Time. The servers are consistently friendly and helpful, reminding you that there is a cash discount. The Taiwanese dishes here are authentic, tasty, and great portion sizes and values. My favorites have remained the Tofu with Thousand Year Egg, Minced Pork Rice, and a Mango GT. They do it simple and they do it right. read more
The food was good. It is a bit pricey and the service was a bit awkward. We ordered the chicken nuggets rice and the pickled veggie with minced pork. The entree was bigger than expected with an egg and some sides but what we expected to be like popcorn chicken wasn't the best we ever had but it was still good. The pickled veggie and minced pork hit the spot. My hubby and I enjoyed both these dishes. We were happy that they offered free help yourself water cups and pitchers but didn't feel the service was friendly. The decor is cute and a nice spot for a date. I would come back to try their other items but would wish there were deals that were comparable to other places. read more

This location is a classic and is great for both mini boba drinks as well as food! The worst thing about it is really the hours. I believe they are completely closed Tuesday and close early at about 8 PM daily except even eatlier on Sundays. I love the food, snacks, and drinks here, especially since the drinks are mini. I got a passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly, green tea (for my sister), and a Taiwanese fried chicken burger. Total was $18.87 for cash. I believe it's a 4% discount to pay in cash. Each drink is ~$4.50 and and the burger was ~$10. On weekdays, they have a free topping promo that excludes boba so I got the lychee jelly free. Everything was delicious and pretty affordable still imo. Service was great and efficient. We got it to go and ordered at the counter. The server was quick and nice. The ambiance has a homey, cozy look. I love it in there, but might not be for everyone. It reminds me of someone's house with all the knick knacks, but it's very cool! Pictures included. TIP: The prices on the menu posted outside are old and not reflective of their current price of the inside menu which is higher. 5 stars for the milk tea (with one free topping on Mondays. It was rich, perfectly sweet and just overall near perfect. 2 stars for all the food. It was just not good. The MINCED PORK PICKLE RICE $7.38 is basically tasteless. The minced pork didn't have the long braised flavor and color. Texture wise it was mostly mush. The size is another thing, it's tiny, smaller than the expected small. But I care more about the taste and it wasn't there. The other huge letdown was the GOT noodle soup (pick 2 toppings which was intestine and fish maw). This was another mostly flavorless soup with a thick turned thin texture as you eat. $14. Lastly the chicken nuggets aka popcorn chicken $10.16. This was possibly the better option of the 3. Perfectly fried but again, needed more seasoning. We found ourselves dipping this in the provided sauces (self serve bar) but it was just not cutting it. I'd definitely come back for the milk tea only. The food was very disappointing. read more

I haven't been to this restaurant for a loooonnnnggg time. Since I am craving for Taiwanese food, and SGV is closest to me (instead of going to Irvine), so this is it for today. 1. Brown rice cake with peanuts: It is an snack/appetizer, often found in taiwan night markets and mom/pop restaurants in Taiwan. This definitely reminded me of Taiwan. 2. Appetizer: It came with eggs, tofu, seaweed, pig ears. It is a cold dish. Hmm...sauce was ok but the dish itself was really good. 3. Taiwanese mala pot with glass noodle: You can actually choose what kind of noodle, such as glass noodle, don't, glass noodle and regular noodle. The pot came with shrimp, beef balls, fuzhou fish ball, beef, veggie...etc. Note: This Taiwanese pot (also has other flavors) comes with a free regular size drink, and i chose traditional black tea. 4. Papaya milk drink: My all time favorite fresh fruit drink in Taiwan. This is a small restaurant thay serves good Taiwanese food. The place is nicely decorated and clean. The only reason why I gave it a 4-star is they do not have the traditional Taiwanese hot chili sauce, which is a must in a Taiwanese small eats establishments/stands. read more
When you think of Half and Half, you are most likely thinking about getting a boba drink. However, this Half and Half also doubles as a sit-down restaurant serving food. When you get seated, you are given their menu where you can use an erasable marker to notate which items you want. Once you are done, you bring the menu up to the cashier and they will ring you up and give you a number. While you are waiting for your food, feel free to check out the back of the restaurant where they have different kinds of sauces and condiments. There are spicy sauces, chili powder, fried onions, and more. We ordered the shredded chicken rice, minced pork pickle rice, and spicy dry noodle. All three of these dishes were in a small bowl. If you are very hungry, I think you can finish two of these bowls by yourself. My wife enjoyed the shredded chicken bowl while I enjoyed the spicy dry noodle. The spicy dry noodle isn't spicy and does have some broth/sauce on the bottom. The minced pork pickle rice was also delicious. When you are done eating, you bus your own table and place the finished bowls on the tray on their drop off rack. Overall, I thought the food was good and the small dishes we're good if you did not want to eat too much. We will most likely come back to try their other food options and maybe even get a drink next time. read more
Got a few drinks here and they were pretty good. We came in and ordered two drinks as well as a fried combination which had popcorn chicken, fish balls, shrimp chip crackers and many other fried items. It was pretty good, super greasy though I ended up coming home and airfrying it to reduce the oil. The drinks were solid and I got them with 25% sweetness which was perfect. This is a small shop tucked away in a popular plaza in the 626. Parking is plentiful around the area even if the parking lot of this specific plaza is always jammed. Things move quick here. There aren't many seats and the restraunt is quite cozy. The staples of Chinese comfort food all hit the spot here. Place gives a Izakaya vibe and decor with fusion vibes. You order at the counter and they bring out the food. There's also a takeout window for pickup. Generous and diverse amount of spices. The place is a bit pricey but they have a diverse menu and many special seasonal items. Had the Good Time Noodle Soup with the seafood options and clear noodles. This place looks more like a cafe than just boba shop. They have sit down tables for people enjoying a meal. Will have to come back and try their food if we are in town but not the boba. Kinda disappointed with this Half & Half location. We ordered mango green tea with honey boba and their Classic milk tea with boba with additional cost. Their boba was not good. This is a small Taiwanese eatery my friends recommended for easing my craving for authentic Taiwanese food plus shaved ice treat in a super hot summer in San Gabriel. Three adults ordered the following: Spicy tofu, intestine, brown rice cake is a soup based dish with very mild spiciness. Good old time noodle soup: dry squid , rice noodle, squid is the starchy soup that I am used to eat, you pick two ingredients and one type of noodle out of three. Good old time brown sugar shaved ice with peanut, grass jelly, egg pudding, taro is our dessert to share, we couldn't finish... Fried combination : chicken nuggets, squid ball, fish cake, brown rice cake, Korean rice cake is so mouth watering just to think about them. Plum sweet potato fries is a specialty type of fries with plum sauce it's kind of sweet, sour and salty. We placed order at the front and mostly self service, they do this to keep price really good. I've come to Half&Half Good Old Time a couple of times, and it definitely makes me miss Taiwan. Located right next to YukDaeJang, parking can be difficult during peak times, so you might have to park out in the street. This is an order & pay first, grab a table second establishment...However, if you want to review the menu first, they may tell you where you can sit and then you can mark their dry-erase menu with your selections. Things can add up fairly quickly, but I think their flavors are pretty authentically Taiwanese. -Good Old Time Chicken Nuggets is like popcorn chicken from the old TapEx/Quickly days. Served with some shrimp chips at your spice level choosing. -Taiwanese Sausage on a stick, this I'd skip next time...but the flavor was standard. -Spicy Tofu, Intestine, and Brown Cake. Honestly if they just had the tofu and intestines I would be a happy camper. It does have a slight kick, but isn't too spicy. -Cold Combination Plate, comes with tofu, pig ears, seaweed and tea egg & a garlic soy dipping sauce. -They have one of my favorite comfort food dishes: Minced Pork Noodle Soup, which I can't find anywhere else since the days of Old Country Cafe.... -TW Style Gravy Brown String Noodle Soup is with pig intestines & fish balls. It's one of my favorite dishes as well. It's like the Taiwanese mifen (rice noodles). YUM! Flavor reminds me of Nice Time Cafe's noodle soup. Service is fairly quick. Space can be kind of tight if you're sitting at a bar/counter seat, but the interior feels kind of like a small Taiwanese shop too. Hubby loves it. the food was very yummy, but definitely more on the snacks/street food side as the portions were relatively small. the minced pork rice bowl tasted authentic and the pickled radish were good. the bowl was around $8 but it was pretty small...i finished it in around 5 bites haha. the fried combo was good, but as a sampler for everything except the popcorn chicken. they give enough of popcorn chicken, but only a few pieces of everything else. i would order them separately if i were to come back again. overall, a good experience! the ambiance inside felt very cool. it gave an asian food stall vibe, which was unique and memorable. everything is mostly self service, but the food came out decently quick! read more

I came back recently and I wanted to revisit this place out and I'm shocked. What happened to the chicken nuggets? This place had THE BEST chicken nuggets in the 626 imo. The pieces were MASSIVE and freshly fried. But I just ordered it and the pieces were so small . It's just popcorn chicken at that point but I'm paying almost 11$ for it. I don't mind paying more but bring back what it used to be! read more

The price for the how much food they give you is a bit pricey along with the 3.5% charge if you use credit card, but this pork belly was so tender I'm not even mad. It was so soft and full of flavor that I need to go back for it. The drinks are also very cheap compared to prices after inflation (All under $5) and very good. I got their osmanthus and a caramel iced milk drink when I went. Their honey boba here is still great quality and if I'm ever craving Half and Half, I'd go here The tables are a bit small, so maybe parties of 2-3 would fit, but not for big groups. I really recommend coming here for the food and drinks if you have a small party. read more
I had not been here since the pandemic, and decided to get take out. So glad that I thought about Half & Half Good Old Time! I got my favorite--- the Minced Pork Pickle Rice, which was delicious, and just as I remembered it. Steamed rice bowl with flavored minced pork, soy sauce egg and yellow picked radish. I'm not a big eater, and although it doesn't look that big, it was just right for me for dinner. Absolute comfort food at it's best! I also got a boba milk tea, which was very good as well. Although I've only gotten take out here, it's the first time since the pandemic that I've seen people dining inside. It's a small place, but really cute and charming. There about 5 small tables, with a nice ambience. It would be fun to dine in some time! Service was also very quick and friendly. The young man who took my order also asked me if I'd like my milk tea "less sweet" to which I said yes. I had forgotten to make that request. All in all, great service and great food.
