This review is exclusively for Jasmine. She truly saved the day for us after our assigned server ignored our table for almost the entire time we were there. This was our first time dining out with our 1-year-old baby, and we chose Haidilao because of the great experiences we've had there in the past. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. Our assigned server barely checked on us, and we were left waiting for basic things throughout the meal. Jasmine, even though she had other duties and wasn't assigned to our table, was the one who noticed that the pot we requested for our baby had never arrived, our pots were running dry, and our table had become a mess. Tried this hot pot chain finally for the first time and went for a birthday celebration with a friend. Reservations are definitely recommended. We waited about an hour for a weekday lunch. Service was spot on and they were so generous with birthday goodies. Both of us were celebrating so we got a whole fruit platter and a cake slice for each of us. We took advantage of their $25 lunches deal which included a soup, plate of meat, plate of veggie, rice or noodle, and a drink. Totally worth it! So much food. I've been to Hai Di Lao at Santa Anita several times now, and it continues to be one of my favorite dining experiences. The ingredients are always incredibly fresh, from the meats to the vegetables, and you can really taste the quality. Hot pot is definitely a meal you should set aside time for, but that's part of the fun! The restaurant has such a lively, energetic atmosphere that you honestly lose track of time while enjoying your meal. This was actually the first visit where something went a little wrong, they accidentally forgot to bring one of our items, and before we realized it, we were being rushed with the check. But as soon as we mentioned it, the staff immediately apologized, corrected the mistake, and went above and beyond to make it right. Everyone was so kind and genuinely apologetic that it completely turned the situation around. No restaurant is perfect 100% of the time, and what really matters is how they handle the rare mistake. Hai Di Lao proved once again why it deserves five stars. Amazing food, fresh ingredients, wonderful service, and a fun dining experience every single time. I'll absolutely keep coming back! I really could eat this for the rest of my life and be okay. They still have great quality meat and vegetables. I don't like the seafood much cause it's kinda flavorless frozen seafood, and aside from the shrimp, every time I order some form of seafood I regret it. Kitty is a fantastic server, very attentive and helpful, and she was working her tail off yesterday. The service is generally good but the kitchen has been rough the last couple of times. We had missing items this last time, and we legitimately waited almost 50 minutes for the majority of our dishes the time before that. Made it just in time for Haidilao's before 5pm special! We got the Classic Combo for 1, which is such a good deal at $19.99 & $24.99 depending on which combo you choose. You still get the full Haidilao experience without spending a ton, and the portions were actually really good for the price. We had plenty of food and, of course, the service was great like always. Parking: part of santa Anita mall. Park near Macy's. TLDR: none of the secret phrases work. Ran out of the 19.99 sets at start of dinner (suspicious). Soup was bland. Sauce bar cost extra. Soup cost extra. No snacks. One toy for kids only Note there is no kid safe way to keep the stove off. No fault of their own but just a note when bringing little ones. I went here with my friends with their kids and was just disappointed with the experience. I had been to the Puente Hills location and was surprise how different the experience was. The layout is nicer than the puente hills locations. We all came here because we heard it was kid friendly. It was too some extent. They ordered kids meal for us when we sat down but they don't tell you it is complimentary until we asked. While we were ordering the waitress said they had no more set meals. The set meals were 19.99 for soup, plate of meat, and vegetables. This was definitely odd cause everything else was in stock. So we were all forced to order off their regular menu. One of the many reasons to go to Hai Di Lao is doing the secret phrase to get stuff. We understand that not all phrases work and it is more of a fun thing to do since it is heavily advertised on social media. None of the phrases work. They had one toy to choose from that they gave the kids which is unlike other stores where they had plenty to choose from. The soup tasted like unseasoned chicken broth with stuff inside. We decided to make the drive over to the Haidilao in the Santa Anita mall vs the one in Puente Hills because Puente hills is a deserted mall at this point. The Puente Hills mall does have excellent pricing for 3 tiers of AYCE before 5pm. The deal they have going on at the Arcadia location is the Hot Pot Your Way deal for $49.99 AYCE which runs before 5PM or after 9PM. Let's start by saying parking for Santa Anita mall in the area is a battle. Don't even bother trying to find parking in the structure on a Saturday as the cars inside looking for a spot barely even move, but we were lucky to find someone leaving outside the structure within 3 minutes. After making a quick trip upstairs to the second floor outside terrace, and a quick left, you are at the front of Haidilao. We arrived around 3PM and was seated right away. There were a decent number of patrons, but not super busy. Our server was ok at the start but she rarely returned after the initial ordering. We've been to many Haidilao across the world, and they are known for their over the top service, but this one? Very basic in terms of service. Not what you come to expect if you've been to other locations in the world. We informed her we were going to do the all you can eat, and she started the timer then spent the next couple of minutes explaining how to order from the AYCE menu. There's a 90 minutes limit for AYCE, which is far longer than needed most of the time, but we actually came close to it on this visit. We placed our order for angus beef, pork belly, 10 second beef, shrimp paste, enoki mushrooms, duck blood, signature tripe, tofu skin, raw tofu, some noodles, their tea drinks in the menu, and made our way to the sauce bar. The sauce bar is where every Hadilao excels at, this one was no different in that respect. When we got back to our table, they had our choices of broths already going, we went with spicy beef tallow and tomato broths. Our initial server came by with the water top off on the broths quite early, as we just started to get our food items at the table. She never returned after that. The nice thing is that the items you order off the tablet come out quick, and the staff that bring things out are fast and courteous. They'll even grab the done plates for you. We enjoyed our meal and all the food items were as you would expect. There seemed to be a server switch to our table towards the end as a male started to assist us. Our broth for the one of the broths was running super low and we had to flag him down to get it topped off. He assisted with the shrimp paste bag, as his method was fast and easier than just squeezing the paste out like frosting out of a bakers bag. We finished our meal and went to the dessert station, I completely didn't see the station as it's a cart with metal covers over everything. I was expecting to see a larger assortment, but it's literally a small cart with pudding, jelly, and red bean options. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, it just wasn't the over the top service Hadilao is known for. read more

We were a party of 6 with 3 adults and 3 kids. And my 5 year old and 10 year old was already considered adult price. I came with some friends for a birthday celebration and they treated us stupendously. We got LOTS of food (mostly red meats, vegetables, noodles, and appetizers) in broth--the tastiest and most filling meal for a party of four. The sweetest part was them singing Happy Birthday to me and giving us a coconut cake on the house. It was very sweet and soft, though it tasted like it had been refrigerated or thawed out from the freezer for a while.
