Overall this place is pretty good....and the portion sizes are pretty good as well....As you can see in my picture I got the Vegetarian which is the only one that doesn't come in Small Medium Large choices....I think I've experienced the same at other places before.... Overall the quality is good they give you a little ponzu sauce and sesame sauce on the side but they'll refill them as well for you. I got the Sukiyaki soup base as well...it came with UDON and Shirataki noodles... Staff was pretty good and the place is nicely laid out. We ate here on a Monday night and found parking very easily! If you're coming with a party of 2 you'll probably be sat at bar seating and they had TVs showing the World Cup! We walked in and were quickly greeted and seated at the low bar seats. We ordered the set for 2 which came with an appetizer, 2 shabu shabu meals with 2 large meat servings, and one dessert. We got the soft shell crab appetizer, sukiyaki broth, spicy miso broth, and the churros dessert. The broths were delicious and flavorful and the meat and bowl of veggies and noodles were filling! We enjoyed the short rib meat choice the most. The appetizer and dessert were okay, pretty standard but I would definitely come back for just shabu. We came around 5:30pm and there were quite some people dining already. It does get crowded much later, so recommended to come early! Parking is very small and shared with other stores, so you're likely to do street parking around. At least street parking around here is very easy. We were seated and the service here is pretty friendly and also very efficient. They're extremely quick when they're setting up, laying out the food, and cleaning up the table. Everything goes by pretty quickly haha. We ordered just all konbu broth, 2 sets of rib eye and 2 sets of angus beef. Everything was pretty alright. The veggie bowl was pretty standard. I mainly had the angus beef and it was more on the tough side. It doesn't taste like high quality meat, so it's just very basic. The ribeye is a bit more fattier, but my dad did not seem to enjoy that one as much either haha. The ponzu sauce was fine, the sesame sauce however tasted more like mayo? I wish it was more stronger in sesame sauce. There's many non-Asian people dining here, so maybe the mayo is to cater for a more 'familiar' taste. Pretty traditional shabu shabu without all the frills of some of the other places like Jazz Cat. We got the Pork and Beef combo with just regular soup base. All tasted good and it was a quick meal. My only complaint is that it didn't seem like there was too much meat. If you are VERY hungry, you probably need to get the XL size. Service was fast, but the place did become pretty empty at 9pm. Wow! The feast for TWO is a special menu, if you don't see it, you must ask for it. For me if you plan on eating with another person, this is the perfect meal! It comes with your choice of soup for 2, your own protein choices and you can upgrade your meat to a larger amount for a few bucks more, then you get to pick from premium appetizers, you get a choice of beer, sake or soda and lastly you get an amazing dessert. For me I loved that monster tempura matcha ice cream. Everyone gets a bowl of veggies and udon. If you don't like the variety of veggies, just say cabbage and tofu only. My favorite broth is the sukiyaki broth and love how it comes with an optional raw egg for dipping your just cooked meats. Here are the selections I tried: Fried Tempura - Fried perfectly, and the sauce it came with was great. I would recommend it. (4.5/5) Angus Prime Beef - Solid quality and very tasty. The large portion is quite satisfying. I would get this one again. (5/5) Karubi - This one was interesting, but still good. I personally preferred the prime beef more. Came to O'seyo and I don't know, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but it was just very average. I got the regular choice ribeye meal with the kombu broth. The vegetable bowl included a solid amount of napa cabbage, a slice of kabocha, king oyster mushrooms, broccoli, and udon. You'll also get a little dish of sesame sauce and ponzu. You also have the option of fortifying your sauce with pre minced garlic, daikon, or scallions. Overall, I felt like everything was tepid. I don't know if it was a lack of salt or if it was because some of the ingredients like the garlic, daikon, and scallions were prepped long before, but it was just missing a certain oomph that shabu often provides. Moreover, a few pieces of my napa were bitter which were very off putting when I happened to pull them. Pricewise, O'seyo is good value. I also felt like my regular portion was just enough food. This set menu includes drinks, appetizer, choice of proteins and dessert. It is a wonderful value but there are also more economical choices abound. Our food arrived quickly and our server turned on our individual burners beforehand so things were ready to go. We seriously needed more space to spread everything out. I chose the spicy tomato broth which was tasty. Everything was fresh and nicely presented. Their sesame and ponzu sauces were delicious. Friendly and fast service from all staff. They really want you to enjoy your time there. It did get a bit warm inside as multiple tables were cooking...so keep that in mind. We came on Sunday lunch and it wasn't busy. The seatings are pretty spacious, and not crowded. The table feels a bit small though as the stove took up a lot of space but it's fine. FOOD the portion was fairly generous as none of us finished the veggie plate. Rice was good. The meat was fresh, very big pieces, though I wish they cut it a bit thinner which will improve texture. But overall no complaints. We came because of SGV passbook. The freebie we received was very generous. The edamame was a very big plate. We asked the free extra to be extra meat which normally would cost $14, and they were very generous. Super Happy! SERVICE was quick, friendly and attentive. The food was decent but somehow the layout of the table and the distance from your companions across the table felt immense and uncomfortable. I would go back again but probably alone. I don't know where they get their meat from but it's some of the most tender cuts I've had at a shabu shabu restaurant. I fully expected it to be tough but even after leaving it in the broth for minutes, it was succulent and tasty. I promise you even the cheapest cut of beef is worth it. I ordered the choice rib eye with spicy miso broth and my mom ordered the Angus beef prime with kelp broth. The spicy miso broth was flavorful enough that it didn't require any extra flavor but the kelp broth is very light so it needs some dipping sauces. We also tried the beef tataki roll which was surprisingly very delicious albeit crumbly since it didn't have good structural integrity. I also enjoyed the agedashi tofu which was sweet and served warm. This a great place to visit with a small group or even solo since I saw a few people do that. The great reviews really got my hopes up, but my experience wasn't pleasant. I walked in at 9:15 pm and was told that they close at 9:30, I apologized and said I thought it was 10 based off of the website. The staff told me that they close early when it's slow. I didn't want to keep them, so I offered to come back another time; but they asked me to stay. I was rushed to order and didn't feel like they wanted me to be there. Again, I offered to come back another day and they reassured me that it was ok. I ordered the certified all natural angus beef, the konbu soap base and a side of fresh ramen. The beef was nice, good marbling but not too fatty. The udon was underwhelming and the portion was tiny. I ordered a side of ramen and a coke. The assorted veggies were decent but portions are tiny and the variety is lacking; It's mostly cabbage. The entire meal was bland and flavorless, even after the sauces and toppings. Staff wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. Not bad for the price but I've had much better shabu shabu nearby. Service wasnt great and I felt rushed. I should have walked out when I was told they decided to close a half hour earlier than the posted time. The meat portion was small but the quality was fantastic. I ordered the angus beef and it tasted like a thicker slice of a good filet mignon you can get at a proper pho joint--none of that freezerburn stuff.
