First time trying this place. I guess it's a well known build your own hot pot place. Your ingredients are weighed at $14.99 per pound with the exception of the soup. Even in the late evening finding a table takes a bit of time. Overall it's an interesting concept. However I'm playing the game of how little can I put in my bowl for the weight and guess each other's weight. There's a variety of meat and veggie options. Service is pretty attentive with water refills. Water is a must as some soup bases are spicier than others. The odd thing is paying at the end where after weighing you don't pay yet until you finish eating. Recommend checking this place out.

First time trying and I am addicted! When you first walked in the staff will give you a table number and then you can go pick your ingredients on the side. It's based by the pound so you can pick as much or as less. Then you pick your soup base at the end. We got the spicy broth and tom yum. Both soup gives a good flavor! The place is not big but they have plenty of tables in the back. I would def come back again!

Was craving a malatang for lunch on Saturday and decided to stop by and give a local place a try! The parking lot is pretty big but shares it with other restaurants and a LA Fitness next door. We walked in through the parking lot entrance and I think it's considered the front since all the self-serve station is there. You walk-in and let them know how many is in your party and they give you a table number. You grab your bowl and serve yourself with all sorts of seafood, vegetables, and meats. When you're done, you get it weighed and can walk over to your table. You can use their self-serve sauce station to grab a sauce to dip your food in. Honestly, the only interaction we had with the staff was them weighing our food, serving it from the kitchen, and us walking over to pay. The food was good! I shared a bowl with someone and the total was $21 before tax and tip. When I grabbed the check, I noticed that my total was $27. They added on a 15% tip before I could even pay. I don't mind tipping but when I tapped my card and grabbed the receipt to sign, they added another "do you want to tip?" as if they didn't already charge me the tip already. If you don't analyze the receipt, you won't see the tip being already added and tip another time. My group of 5 felt really tricked.

We were craving malatang on a cold rainy evening and this place was our sanctuary. 13.99/lb of straight up DIY hot pot heaven. I got the tom yum broth and my friends got the been bone broth with medium spicy and wow. All of the broth were so flavorful and delicious that it was hard to choose a favorite. Service was simple, kind, and efficient. If your eyes are bigger than your stomach (like myself), it is inevitable that you will be full. They have large bowl containers so you can have your leftovers as a second meal. What a deal! I will be coming to this place when I'm in the area and craving some delicious malatang.

I was excited to try this place out and enjoy company with friends. I like the idea of selecting your own ingredients, broth, and pay by weight. I will say the ingredients selection looked decently well. I had to subtract one star because I saw someone sneeze around the ingredients bar area and no one seemed fazed. The soups came out after 10 minutes upon weighing them. I did not enjoy the tom yam broth compared to the beef bone broth. Indoors, the place was packed and everyone seemed like they were having a good time (vibes were immaculate). I wouldn't rush going back here, but I still had a good time

Never come super hungry because it is easy to overdo your order like mine. Before sitting down, you would grab your own personal bowl and build it. Put as much items as you like. At the end, they weighs it by the pound and you pick your style to be made. There is soup and dry style. Plus different broths type. I recommend the beef broth because I was not a fan of the tomato I got. It wasn't as sour as I wanted but the food was still good. The tomato soup has a hint of sweetness . They got good selections of everything, from the veggies, meats, sauces, and etc. Taste clean! Depends on the person but service is okay because it's more of a self serve type of deal.

It's been a while since I've come here. And the second I do this is what I find in our soup. This is kinda unnerving because if they are allowing bugs into the soup what other dirty things could be going on. The service and place are ok. But this is kinda disgusting and not sure I will come back since maybe their quality has decreased.

Saw YGF Malatang pop up on my FYP, so I decided to give it a try. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away since there was no wait. As a first-time customer, the process was a bit confusing. There wasn't much guidance, and I initially thought you were supposed to find your seat first. Turns out, you're supposed to grab your ingredients, weigh your bowl, then sit down, and the server brings your cooked meal. Probably intuitive to some, but I was a little lost at first. As for the food, it was just okay. I've had similar meals at other hot pot spots that I enjoyed more. The ingredient selection wasn't particularly unique, and the price adds up fast. The two bowls pictured came out to $52. I also noticed the floors were kinda dirty, and overall it didn't feel like the cleanest restaurant. That said, the meal was decent, and to be fair, the other customers around us seemed to be really enjoying theirs.

I controlled myself this time lol

You can't go wrong with YGF if you are looking for individual hot pot. I like this location since there's a huge parking lot. I never had issues with parking. 1. You go in, grab a big bowl by the entrance 2. You clip all the food that you want into the bowl 3. You bring your bowl to the counter to weight and tell them what soup base you want 3. You grab a number and go to your table 4. You go to the sauce counter to mix and match your own sauce 5. Servicer brings your bowl to you table 6. You enjoy your food and pay

Not bad for a Hot Pot place came here on my friend recommendations from her friends....I went with a tomato base no spice and that is a vegan base for them..... You fill an empty bowl with whatever you want protein, veggies and other items....they weigh it and charge you on the weight....FYI minimum is .8 lbs I believe it was.... They brought my friend and mine over but mine for some reason took about what seemed to be 10 minutes longer but it was probably like 5 min.... Overall the broth is pretty good not overly salty and a good flavor.... Service was okay and the place is pretty clean overall. I might come back here....

Hubby & I came to YGF Malatang last Friday and enjoyed our meals! It was our first time trying a malatang restaurant, so I asked the front cashier/order taker how does it all work. They'll assign a table (if available) and give you a number paper. You grab as much of the food as you want and they charge you $13.99/lb for the soup pots and there's a little extra charge for dry pots, I believe. They've got stations at the front for veggies & meats and other hotpot contents (i.e. fish cakes & balls, carbs like noodles/potato noodles, etc.). Then when you've finished filling your bowl, you bring it over to the front cashier to weigh and then choose your broth/flavor (tomato, beef, tom yum, or a spicy mix or dry pot). I ordered the Tomato Broth, which I was told doesn't have spice but I asked if they could add some spice to it and the cashier said they would add some chili oil to it. Hubby got their Beef Broth, mild. Then you take these wrist-band numbers and go to the back for your table. You pay the back cashier after you finish & to-go boxes are available upon request. They've got a sauce bar with all different kinds of sauces in the back. I'll probably just stick with good ol' Satay Sauce in the future with some garlic, green onion, cilantro & vinegar. I did like their pepper oil, a bit of the "mala" numbing spice to it. Their sesame sauce had no flavor to it & wasn't mixed well this time, so I'll probably pass on it in the future... The food came out in about 5-10 minutes. I think my bowl averaged under 1.5 lbs., and hubby's was just over 2 lbs. I had leftovers, which was good for a second meal. They have single room men & women's restrooms in the middle of the restaurant, and eating space is clean and open in the back. Ample parking available in shared plaza lot. Will definitely be back! :)

This place has great selections of ingredients! my go-to is def some vermicelli noodles, protein(beef/lamb/pork/tofu) mushrooms, and veggies. I got their medium spicy beef broth soup and tried out their thick potato noodle that was delicious and chewy texture, which i havent seen before. Process is quick, you grab the ingredients you want, choose your soup base/dry mix, pay by the lb. in the front, you get a number assigned to you, & sit down. They also have a sauce bar so you can make your own dip! Service is quite quick and efficient. Lots of seating and cannot complain about anything. Solid malatang place and they even give you a stamp card so for every 10 lbs you buy, you can get 1 lb. free!

Came on a Saturday afternoon at around 2PM. We were given a bowl to fill up with the plethora of topping and noodle options available. There were many different types of noodles, fish cakes, fish balls, vegetables and meats to choose from. After you fill up your bowl with everything you want, you go weigh it in the front and choose a soup base. The cost of your meal is dependent on the weight of everything in your bowl. Then, they give you a number, you go in and find your seat and your cooked soup pot will be brought to you. In the seating area, you can also create a customized sauce to dip your meats/toppings in. Ambiance was casual and laid back and service was attentive. 1. For my bowl, I chose a tomato soup base, which was one of the richest tomato soup bases I've had- tangy and full of flavor. Some of my toppings included fish cakes, fish balls, beef brisket, A choy (chinese vegetable), tofu, quail eggs, chinese donut stick, and hot pot noodle for my noodle base. The bowl came out piping hot and stayed hot throughout my meal. The ingredients/toppings were all very fresh. Parking was easy as it was located in a plaza with many other stores and restaurants. Would definitely come again to try another soup base or even get the same soup base and try other toppings/ingredients!

The lowest spicy level is mild. Not a lot of kids dine here. But kiddos went with us and ate fine.

They offer premium and prime options for their AYCE hot pot. Their prime menu was $52.95 and offered 9 different soup bases, 17 meat options, self serve bar filled with veggies, noodles and meat balls, drink stations and ice cream. I got the split pot with sukiyaki and jelly golden chicken broth. The sukiyaki was slightly sweet and full of umami flavor. The jelly golden chicken was flavorful and comforting. You can tell they boil down chicken bones from the chicken fat in the soup. They have 3 meats on the prime menu that were wagyu. All 3 were super tender and required little to no chewing. The abalone were massive and firm yet tender. We got the shrimp paste as well which was flavorful and filled with chunks of shrimp. The veggies were fresh and I enjoyed the variety. My favorites were the crown daisy, spinach, enoki mushrooms and Napa. They even have the sweet potato wide rice noodles that are slimy and chewy. Not a lot of AYCE places have it so it's a rare find. The staff here speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English so ordering was not an issue. They have a small lot in the back with about a dozen spots which wasn't an issue on the week day.

The owner was really nice, she helped us take a pic and also took a pic for the photo wall in the back. I had split sukiayki and the mala spicy soup, both good. I also tried the tonkatsu, it was tasty. Meat took some time to come out but seafood is very fresh. The shrimp and mussel from the premium menu is very fresh. The drinks and ice cream are included. I love thrifty ice cream, with Rite Aid gone, I savor every chance I get to have Coconut Pineapple ice cream. I had the canned Herbal Tea and Milk tea, both are very good. The herbal tea was sweet, almost like dates. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

However, I still made a reservation online since I saw a few reviews mentioned reserving ahead of time to mininize wait time. Luckily, it wasn't full when we arrived so the reservation wasn't actually needed but it did get more full later in the night so a reservation would be helpful if you plan to eat later at night during the peak times and especially during the weekends. Anyhow, we were seated quickly and got a table with two stoves and we could use both for four people. I got the Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki broths while my parents got the Shabu Shabu and Tomato. And we got the Momo experience since it has a good assortment of meats. Our server was friendly in explaining the menu and had pretty fast service. Once we ordered the meat, they were served quickly too which was nice so you didn't have to wait long in between. The meat quality was pretty good but we noticed that the quality for the Chuck Eye got worse towards the end of our meal even though it started off really good. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a bad batch of beef but it was disappointing since it wasn't as tender and was tough to chew so I couldn't eat some of it. The broths were also pretty good. The Sukiyaki is a bit salty if you let the veggies and meat sit inside for too long so warning about that, but it was flavorful enough to not dip in sauces. I liked the Shabu Shabu more since it is more clear and not strong. Also, they have a drink section for unlimited drinks if you pay extra which I didn't opt for but they do let you order free hot tea or hot water unless you want cold water then it is at the soda fountain. Sad that they now charge for drinks. They also have a self-serve veggie bar which has decent amount of veggies and other hotpot ingredients but it is a smaller variety compared to some other all you can eat hotpots I have been to. They also have free ice cream at the end of the meal which is just 1 scoop of the flavors they have available. Nothing special. Overall, this is decent hotpot choice if you like Japanese style hotpot. The meat quality is okay but doesn't seem consistent on each platter. Also not many veggies to choose from. After trying this place, I realize I like Chinese hotpot better so I don't think I will come back here again but I guess it was worth trying.

For me, this spot has been a go-to for years, and somehow I still find myself back here every 1-2 weeks like clockwork. If you know, you know: the T-Rex lamb hot pot is the move. The portion is generous, the lamb is tender, and it cooks beautifully in the broth. My personal combo is the creamy milk and corn broth, which gives the whole pot this rich, slightly sweet, comforting depth that pairs perfectly with the lamb. Once everything starts simmering together, the broth just keeps getting better with every bite. And of course, the dipping sauces seal the deal. I always rotate between ponzu and sesame sauce--the ponzu adds that bright citrusy kick while the sesame brings the nutty richness. Every bite feels balanced and ridiculously satisfying.
