While many people have been posting Yelp reviews for Windsor for their brunch or happy hour, I am posting a review for the wonderful date night in general that a weekend dinner at Windsor can be. My wife and I typically go to the Windsor every month or two, and we've been delighted with the service and the food each and every time. We have even gotten lucky with close parking right next to the side entrance to the restaurant each time. The atmosphere and ambiance is fun for a date, and we have chosen an outdoor table on the patio almost every time we have visited. During the summer months, it is shaded and refreshing while in the winter months, the heaters make a world of a difference. We have found that there are always a few servers assigned to the patio, so we never felt like we have been forgotten during our time visiting. Reservations can be taken for groups of six or more. If you have a smaller group and get there early, you can almost always find a table with little to no wait. My favorite starter is the cheddar fondue, favorite sides include the mac and cheese and fries, and favorite entrees include the backyard burger (Windsor style - sharp cheddar, garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato & caramelized onion on a brioche bun) and pastrami reuben (pastrami, sauerkraut, Emmenthaler cheese & Russian dressing on a marble rye bun). All of these dishes have been delicious though I have occasionally enjoyed trying other dishes, too. For dessert, we have enjoyed ordering something from Churn next door, which is part of the Upward Projects. My own favorite is a simple scoop of coffee ice cream with chocolate sauce on it. Also, while I have yet to go to Windsor during Happy Hour (or at least I wasn't aware of it until afterwards), Happy Hour is daily until 5 PM where cocktails, wine, and pitchers of beer are all $6. We have signed up for the ePosse and have enjoyed receiving birthday promotions including a free appetizer at Windsor, or if we wanted to use it at other Upward Projects restaurants, we could get a free dessert and reservation at Postino, a free pizza or entree at Federal Pizza, or a free appetizer at Joyride Taco House. Joyride, Federal Pizza, and Postino Central are right across the street, and Churn is right next door. Gift cards can also be used at all of the Upward Projects restaurants. With that said, we are looking forward to our next date night at Windsor already!! read more

Note that this place has a cramped, one way parking lot. I'm not actually sure where one is supposed to park if you can't find parking in the small lot. This is one of those popping places on the weekday evenings. It is quite loud indoors. Even though I sat outdoors, it was still pretty noisy. What's neat is that the owner owns both this place and the ice cream shop next door; the desserts at the Windsor come straight from the ice cream shop. The sandwiches and burgers go from $16.50-$18.25 and all come with a side. My crony and I tried out several items. We tried out their Roulettes which is shishito peppers where some are hot and some are not (I didn't eat any of the hot ones). We also tried out the cheddar fondue which comes with pretzel bread, apples, and sausages; the apple slices were deliciously crisp. The bacon cheeseburger was of average taste; I wish it came with tomatoes and lettuce. The market vegetables are fried in a potato so although tasty, they are definitely not a health-conscious option here. The servers were amiable. read more

We just had a great dinner at Windsor - my husband had a Pastrami sandwich and I had the Picnic Skewers. My husband is really picky about his Pastrami sandwich, and he said this one was great. The Picnic Skewers were delish and smokey and the sauces for dipping, especially the honey mustard, were the perfect match for the pork, chicken, vegetables and shrimp skewers. Our waiter Kyle was very nice, checked in with us every now and then, and gave great cocktail and dinner recommendations. The atmosphere is very casual, and it's nice that you can't hear any of the noise from Central Avenue. We sat on the patio out back - very comfortable with the misters. And dogs are allowed on the patio, which is always fun to watch. Parking is really easy; we'll definitely be going back. read more

Last night's Chef's Special (Jerk Pork Ramen Stir Fry) slapped harder than my mom's chancla when I forgot to take out the trash. This dish is so good that it makes me question all my previous life choices, including that regrettable haircut from 2019. This needs to be a menu staple. Great vibe here! We enjoyed sitting on the patio by the fireplace. We enjoyed some tacos and drinks. The tacos HIT and the service was good. They do have a small parking lot, but it looked like there was another lot adjacent. I will definitely return to enjoy the patio again before temps heat up! read more

St. Patty's Day about 1:30. I was surprised to find the patio, bar and restaurant packed. It's a Friday during normal work hours. Sat at the bar at the only two available seats. We were a party of four and our table was ready in in a few minutes. Our waiter quickly came over and took our drink orders. It appears this is a craft cocktail establishment. Lots of yummy sounding, unique offerings. Two cocktails, a Stella and a Prairie Sour. If you are wanting to try multiple cocktails come during the daily happy hour, you'll save a lot of money. We ordered. A fish and chips, a Reuben, BBQ ribs and a Ahi Tuna salad. Food arrived fairly fast considering they were so busy. Everything looked great and tasted even better. Fish and chips so crispy but fish glossy and extremely mild in flavor. The pastrami in the Reuben probably should have been taken off the grill just a tad sooner. Edges of the meat charred and crispy. Dining companions said their food was awesome. This was a great dining experience. Our waiter was fantastic and could not have provided better service. Food was tasty and reasonably priced by todays standards, good quality. The fish was A M A Z I N G. For me the only drawback was the small parking lot and I'm a domestic beer kinda a girl. In the words of the wall.... YES! And the words of the floor, YOU SHOULD! Yes, you should definitely eat at Windsor. It was AMAZING! Such a cool vibe, incredible food and great service. Carlos knocked it out of the park, he was so friendly, chill, and attentive. I asked for a recommendation and ordered his favorite dish and it was amazing! I'm in my sauce era and was absolutely thrilled with all of the flavors! The harissa aioli might be my new obsession. The Korean marinade on the kebabs was spicy and full of amazing flavor. The hummus and gold sauce were soooo good. Such random pairings but I loved every minute of it. If you're a sauce princess like me, runnnnn and try this! My hubby is a big burger guy and he proclaimed that this was one of the best burgers ever. We are soooo happy we tried this place tonight, we will be back! Thanks for an awesome experience. The food here has made this restaurant a favorite for my 8 year old foodie son. He absolutely loves the chicken skewers. The children's meals are also wonderful but definitely portioned for smaller children... Not hungry boys. my 8 yr old and 9 year old both have to order off the adult menu now. The outdoors are nicely misted so it isn't too hot even during the summer. Tonight they had to turn off the misters (the high was 94 today) because it was getting too cool. The service today wasn't as good as it has been in the past. I kept having to ask for things and drinks didn't get refilled. Our server kind of disappeared... So we kept having to ask the people who were passing by or bringing out the food for things we needed. Hence the 4 stars. The loaded chips were good but the peppers carry a serious kick so beware. The fried chicken is very good as was the pulled pork sandwich. The seasonal salad I got as a side to the sandwich wasn't as good as I had hoped. The lemon vinaigrette wasn't a good compliment. I felt a different dressing should have been used... Maybe a poppyseed? The other children's menu item we got was the hotdog. The "bun" it came in was so hard... I don't know how they expected a child to eat it. I don't know if adults that would eat it. I could actually "knock" it on the table. The picnic kabob plate was delicious..the shrimp does have a slight kick to it. The veggies have a great grill flavor to them. The French fries were particularly good tonight as well! The food we have gotten here is usually excellent. Tonight a couple items were not as good as I had hoped but the main issue I had tonight was the service. Visited Windsor a few times and enjoyed the experience. It's honestly just a great set and they have a nice covered patio to enjoy outdoor seating. Their drinks are amazing and worth the visit. The servers are amazing even on busy days. My friend visited for her birthday and she loved it. The Manager also stopped by to ask about the experience, he was super nice and friendly adding to the experience for the visit. If you're looking for a location to watch a game also a great place to go. They have a nice setup inside to watch and enjoy. Overall a great experience and worth a trip. read more

Great food, great service, GREAT drinks, and a really nice setting - what more can you ask for? I met a friend for brunch here, and we sat on the lovely patio. I highly recommend the patio for meals here! It was a little chilly, so they had heaters on, as well as a fireplace going, so there was a seasonally-appropriate smell in the air. I was really impressed by the brunch menu, especially the drinks. All cocktails, glasses of wines, and pitchers (!!) of beer with $6. I started with their spicy Blood Mary, and it was so good. It had the right amount of spice and tang, and the pickled veggies on top were perfect. For my entree, I had their Impossible burger, which was well prepared and came with a bounty of veggies on top, as well as a garlic aioli. Their seasonal vegetable was a roasted broccolini that made me question why I don't eat broccolini more. My friend had the veggie stack, which she gave me a piece of and it was indeed worth noting! Service was excellent. Our server was Cami (not sure of the spelling), and she was attentive and kind. All of the staff was great, and our water glasses were always full and we were always asked if we needed anything. This is an excellent brunch spot, and I'd surely go back for dinner too. read more

Windsor is a neighborhood bar and restaurant that offers bar food with a twist and prohibition cocktails. "Familiar food with an upscale twist" is a great way to describe their food. Everything was delicious and hit the spot! We ordered the following: Cheddar fondue $13.50 Fish-n-Chips $16.75 Windsor chicken sammie $15 Espresso martini The cheddar fondue is one of their crowd favorites and easy to see why. It comes with a warm pretzel, apple slices, and sausage. Hubs and I fought over the last piece of warm, soft pretzel to dip in the cheese and I won, of course. For my entree, I chose the fish n chips. It's beer-battered white fish with a celery seed tartar sauce, and served with sweet and spicy seasoned fries. I don't like tartar sauce, but theirs is fantastic. I used every bit of it on my fish! I also devoured every fry on my plate. Hubs got the Windsor chicken sammie. It comes with crispy buttermilk jalapeño mango aioli, coleslaw, and pickles on a brioche bun. You can also opt for grilled chicken. Though I didn't try it, it looked perfectly crispy. Now for the best part, the espresso martini. We found ourselves at Windsor because I did a Yelp search for espresso martini while in the area and landed on Windsor... and wow, their espresso martini did not disappoint! I just started drinking espresso martinis in the past year, but theirs is easily one of the best I've had so far! Had the right amount of sweetness and foam to my liking. Another great thing about Windsor is that they serve ice cream from Churn next door. Churn gets pretty busy especially on weekends, so if you want to skip the line, order it from Windsor! read more

04/26/2024 Wife and I flew in this morning, after getting our bags and calling Uber to take us to hertz for a rental car. By the time we got done and looked for a place to we were found Windsors that had just opened. We sat at the bar there were a few people already there sitting out on the patio. Molly greeted us she was awesome we asked her many questions about the food and drinks and she answered them all. Wife and I both ordered the chicken Sammie she had a mixed green salad and I had a salad and to drink she made me a special drink bartenders choice. The sandwiches were awesome tasted great as did the salads also. The place got busy really quick after eating our sandwiches I know why this place got so busy. Molly asked if we would like desert that there is an ice cream store next door so we had a scoop of their seasonal flavor. Wow, my last review here was 9 years ago! That's a testament to how consistently good this place is. I have since moved from Phoenix but realized returned for a weekend trip. And Windsor was a must stop for brunch. It was cold, rainy Saturday but this place was packed. Reservations are recommended. My go-to 9 years ago was the Matador and to my delight, it was still on the menu. And still delicious. My friends and I ordered cocktails that were equally delicious. Service was on point. First time here and I assumed it would be good food because anytime I go get ice cream it's always full. I ordered the hummus and I have no idea how someone can manage to mess up a hummus plate with the brilliant idea of loading up the hummus on top of a pita. WHY? JUST WHY? Basically they put a pita in a plate and load the hummus with veggies on top of it with some type of a dressing so the pita bread just soaks and is saggy and you have nothing to dip your hummus in. I was starving and ordered some fries. Fries were good. Hummus plate absolute disaster. Seriously, have the pita on the side, the veggies on top of the hummus or separate like a normal restaurant. read more

Updating review since I hadn't post-pandemic. This is a regular place for lunch or late night eating and it never disappoints! I love their Southern-ish food and the 3 pork sandwich is my favorite. (Sorry pigs). It's a favorite in the rotation for lunch with friends, and now my husband likes it especially knowing Churn ice cream is next door :) Service is friendly and prompt, and we've never had to wait for a table at lunchtime. It's another 5 star experience for me. Part of me doesn't want to blow this spot up more, but it's very well deserved. Their cocktails are fresh and balanced and only $6 until 5pm (outrageous). And there are so many to try! The food also tastes fresh + high-quality + delicious. I got the chopped salad and added salmon--a generous portion--and thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend's pita stack was also super yummy. The service really seals the deal for me. Everyone I've interacted with has made me feel very well taken care of, and are all around such good vibes. I love this place a lot. I'm confident telling people it's my favorite brunch spot (I wish they did have more brunch offerings on their menu, but even still, I've yet to find a brunch spot I'd rather go to). read more

Ordered the avocado toast and there was no avocado. Looks like they scrapped all the avocado off and it just left behind green stained bread. Told the waiter there was no avocado and he brought me that tiny "side" in the little metal tin, you can see in the picture. Never had an avocado toast with so little avocado on it, it's actually comical to even serve this. Don't know how you mess up this bad. read more
