Everything we ordered was so pretty and delicious. The Sunday supper special is a great deal- three courses, with lots of veg-friendly tasty options to choose from. Love the rainbow carrots and grilled asparagus. The focaccia is huge, good for sharing, delivered to the table warm with a big chunk of flavored butter. Both pastas we tried- the pesto and mushroom carbonara- were perfectly cooked. The seasonal vanilla custard looks simple, but with the rhubarb compote on top, it's lovely. Came here for AZ restaurant week, and left SO happy and full. $55 pre-fix menu, and i ended up ordering ala carte items on the regular menu because i couldnt say no to clams! The drinks are strong, vibes are right, and service is great. They were able to accommodate us rescheduling our reservation a couple times and we were so thankful for their flexibility. The food didn't take long, and WOW was it good!!! I did get the brown butter focaccia for the table and it was a huge hit. It was served in cast iron, and the lob of butter on top was perfectly browned. We thoroughly enjoyed this as an appetizer (definitely good to share between 4-6 people). The clams were too good. First time here and definitely not the last! Was only in town for a night and this restaurant looked very promising on Yelp, decided to dine here and did not regret one bit. The food, service, and ambiance is impeccable! Sat at the bar because we came in through the back entrance accidentally, and it was first come first serve like anywhere else. Didn't get the name of the servers/bartenders but they made sure I was well taken care of with quick water refills. Started off with the burrata salad that came with strawberries and focaccia bread. Pro tip is to cut the bread in half and pile in the salad to make a small sandwich. Next, I had the brick chicken Marsala, which comes with a breast and thigh on a bed of mash potatoes and Marsala mushroom sauce. Dish was divine, the thigh was a little under, but service was top notch and replaced the dish entirely with a brand new one cooked to perfection. Once again, First & Last has been nothing less than spectacular. My friend and I stopped by for lunch on Sunday and had to wait in a tiny line before we got to order. I wanted a fun drink so I got the strawberry fields which was so refreshing on that hot day. This place has been blowing up on social media because of there sandwiches, so of course I had to come check out the foods. I got the little Jerry, which is a chicken cutlet with homemade focaccia bread basil pesto and spicy vodka sauce. The bread is super chewy, fresh and delicious, though it's missing a bit of a crunch on the outside. The chicken is well breaded and juicy. The combination of the basil and vodka sauce is really great, and the service was really good! My issue personally lies with the chicken. Although it was cooked well, it lacks flavor. To me it seems like they are heavily reliant on the sauce and the cheese to pull everything together and it does mostly. If the chicken had been nicely seasoned this would've been the easiest 5 star review I've ever put on here. This is a great spot in the Roosevelt Row area and believe the hype when people tell you this place is good. A friend came into town (he knows his food) and I decided to take him here for lunch and we both enjoyed the experience. The place is gorgeous, well decorated, has a mature and elegant vibe that is inviting. Funny enough both my friend and I ordered the exact same items which included the Little Jerry sandwich and Maiden Voyage (mezcal based) drink. For lunch, there isn't full sit down service, you order at the register, take a number and then food is brought out to you. Service is great here! I can say both the sandwich and cocktail were amazing! The Maiden Voyage cocktail also has a special in that $2 of the proceeds go to St Mary's Food Bank. I appreciate that this business cares about the community. The few gripes are that parking is a situation around here. There is a covered lot right behind the restaurant but spaces can be limited there. My friend and I both also felt the prices were a bit high and can't seem to justify $19 for a sandwich. My total with tax and tip for lunch came to almost $50! And, the bathroom seemed to always be occupied, so that was a bit of an annoyance. So, I deducted one star for those concerns. I'd come back again but honestly this is one of those places that would be a once or twice a year kind of place for me. But, it's lovely! Perfect place to impress and out of towner too! I first discovered this spot through TikTok and knew I had to try it during my trip. They close on weekdays at 3 p.m. and don't reopen for dinner, which I didn't realize at first. I was running late from the airport, and to make matters worse, my Uber kept canceling. Despite that, the staff kindly stayed open a bit later so I could pick up my order. I've been wanting to try First and Last for months since seeing it promoted all over social media, and while I enjoyed my meal and am glad I tried it, it kind of missed the mark for me. I ordered the Pink Pony Club cocktail and later the 'Wolf Trap' white blend wine. For food, we ordered the whipped goat cheese, Sicilian swordfish belly, the puttanesca alla bucatini, porchetta style rabbit and creme caramel for dessert. The Pink Pony Club drink was definitely heavier on the raspberry and aperol flavors in my opinion, so as someone that likes mezcal, ginger and lime, this was kind of disappointing. The Wolf Trap wine was refreshing when it came out cold, but quickly got more acidic / bitter as it warmed up. The whipped goat cheese was delicious, and the focaccia was perfect -- it was dense yet fluffy and had a good oily / herby flavor. I was expecting the swordfish belly to be a little more tender / fatty like most belly cuts, but it was still pretty dense (this is my fault for not knowing any better). I liked the sauce, but the meat wasn't what I was going for. The entrees were an opportunity to try something new but they were not my favorite. I love olives and anchovies but the puttanesca was still a little too briny for me. The rabbit was cool to try, but the texture reminded me of a take & bake pork loin, and the guanciale didn't have the strong, salty flavor I was expecting. Overall, I think the food options were unique, but didn't quite elicit a mind blowing response. Lastly, I like the modern / rustic / Bohemian interior but we were seated upstairs, which just felt kind of dark and uninviting -- I wouldn't call it an attic, but it felt like a storage area. The service was good, and the wait staff was nice about holding our orders / pacing dishes more slowly since we were just enjoying sitting and chatting for a while. read more
