First and foremost it bothers me when some people call a "family restaurant" a "hole-in-the-wall" establishment. This is a clean and well run family establishment. I just had two great meals there last weekend when we were in town for a Allan Parsons Project concert. The first night (Fri) I looked over what other people were eating and the table next to me had a great looking shrimp and pasta dish that I ordered with the spring mix walnut salad. My wife had the Gnocchi with Vodka sauce and a Caesar salad. We were both very pleased with our selections. Sat. afternoon we came back before the concert. I had a "custom" made pasta dish (chicken, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, broccoli, olive oil) and it was great! Had the same salad as Fri. night. My wife had the lasagna and was very happy with the serving size and flavor. We will definitely be back when we are in town. Give this a try and you will be satisfied like we were. read more

Come for the Lasagna, Not the Candlelight Romance We came here for a birthday dinner because we wanted to try something new, and by the end of the meal I found myself with two very different opinions: The food? Excellent. The ambiance? Let's talk about it. First, the good. The food was genuinely delicious. This feels like the kind of family-owned Italian restaurant where the focus is on what's coming out of the kitchen rather than what's hanging on the walls. Everything tasted like comfort food should; warm, satisfying, and made by people who care about the recipes. The service was also very good. In fact, the cook came out during our meal to ask how everything was. I was happy to tell him the food was fantastic because it absolutely deserved the compliment. Now for the not-so-good. We arrived around 5:30 PM, and the dining room was so quiet I could hear dishes being washed in the back. Not "pleasantly quiet." More "did everyone else know something I didn't?" quiet. For most of the meal there was no music at all. Just silence and the occasional clink of kitchen activity. They eventually turned on some background music shortly before we left, but it was so low that it felt more like a suggestion than actual ambiance. The tables, chairs, and overall décor are perfectly fine, but this isn't the place I'd choose for a romantic date night, anniversary dinner, or a birthday celebration where you're looking for a special atmosphere. What it is, however, is a great place to bring your spouse, kids, parents, in-laws, or anyone who appreciates good Italian comfort food without needing a white tablecloth experience. My advice? Come for the food. The food is worth it. If you're chasing ambiance, maybe lower your expectations or plan for a later dinner. The atmosphere seemed to improve after 6:30 PM as more people arrived. Bottom line: fantastic food, friendly service, family-dinner vibes. Just don't expect Tuscany. Expect comfort, and you'll leave happy. read more

This restaurant is close to the airport and has great reviews, why not try it out? My family and I were so glad we did! The service was phenomenal. Our waiter was so kind and accommodating (was with a difficult diner, who he was extremely patient with). Food was very good as well! We got a variety of dishes and everyone was happy with them. Honestly, it's too bad there isn't a place like this in San Diego. This is a spot I'd come back to over and over again hands down some of the best Italian food I've had. The atmosphere is perfect clean, quiet, and the little pond outside adds a nice touch. The garlic bread is a MUST. Soft, buttery, and packed with garlic exactly how it should be. The lobster ravioli is next level. You can actually see the lobster meat inside (no mystery filling like most places), and they top it with shrimp which takes it even further. I had the worst day and was looking for some comfort food. Adela's has always been welcoming and delicious. So, I got it to go. Probably my bad, but I digress. My piccata had no extra sauce and so poorly packaged, the remaining sauce is all over my car. The $1.50 side of marinara for my "fresh baked" (after it was frozen) bread. The dressing was supposed to be on side and it wasn't. Ugh. The pasta isn't homemade and piccata sauce is so watery. The marinara is $1.50. For this?? The fresh bread is as hard as a rock. God forbid they give me fresh one after they had to repack everything. I was clearly irritated and they basically did nothing. The owner was rude when I asked if I could get fresh bread. "This one is fine. It's still kinda warm". Wait? What? There were zero customers when I went in so none of this should've been an issue. What a waste of $50. I even tipped well. I made a reservation and when we showed up it was not busy at all. Inside was clean and it was in a strip mall. Ordered the bruschetta which was pretty good. I got the tortellini and my friend got the chicken picatta. I didn't try it but she didn't like it and sent it back. You could tell our waitress was offended by that but took it away after letting her know it was done right and she must not have had it the right way before. I liked my tortellini a lot . We shared a chicken parmigiana. The precooked cutlet wasn't heated throughly, and the mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce was very sparse and didn't cover the piece of chicken, the edges were just plain cutlet.
