I'm not sure why there are any negative reviews. This is authentic Italian food with amazing fresh pasta. We got the whipped ricotta, the Short Rib Papparadelle and Panna Cotta. Both recommended by our amazing waiter Kevin. The focaccia was beautiful and had the best rosemary flavor. Our Pasta was superb and the Panna Cotta was delicate and beautiful. I'm still dreaming of it now. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. This is our new downtown spot for any show or game. The wait staff couldn't be more amazing and the food blew me away! First time at Rosso Italian. We made a reservation and were there for dinner early. It can definitely get very busy during the dinner rush. The dining room is very crowded and loud. Our table was a 2 top in the center of the floor and was very close to the other tables! I would liked more space. The server was very nice and the service was very fast! This is a restaurant where you don't have to place your entire order all at once, you can take your time. Food comes out quickly. The drinks were delicious. I had the lemondrop and spritz. The lemondrop had blackberry which was a nice twist. The whipped ricotta and honey was a good blend of sweet and spicy. However, it can get messy and sticky so be careful. The focaccia was great! This place is a JOKE. Save your money and go next door to the Arrogant Butcher. Food: For an Italian restaurant, this place does not know how to cook their pasta al dente. Watered down soup, watered down sauce and UNDER COOKED pasta. The only thing that tasted good was the focaccia bread with cheese on it. Service: The hostess was obviously incapable of being a hostess. She sat out group outside under the mister in 70 degree weather. The kids were freezing and bird poop was on the table. All she did was make a joke and refused to move us to another table. We've asked the waiter to turn off the mister, situation still not resolved so the manager or owner comes out. He absolutely has no customer service himself. Only gave us the excuse that the misters stay on. Which is fine but we've asked to move at the beginning of our arrival and by the time we got our food, it got so cold from being outside with the mister on. The manager didn't offer any means to resolve our unpleasant experience. After we expressed our experience and asked for a check because we're ready to leave, he then finally offers for the food to be remade. There's no way we'd want the bad food to be made again. Food is not worth the price, customer is even worst. Rosso Italian, I kindly ask you to look up the meaning of customer service, al dente and maybe if you've time, learn how to properly make a sauce that's not 90% watered down, This is for your own good. We really love Rosso. The decor is kind of funky and cool, with a tufted vinyl wall and cool mural on an exposed brick wall. There is a bar in one room, a dining room with tables, banquettes, and booths, and a really nice patio in front. We had reservations, and the host took us directly to our table after asking what our preference for seating was. I would suggest getting reservations, because there were people waiting who didn't have reservations. Our server was delightful. She was very helpful and offered suggestions when I couldn't make up my mind. The cocktails and food were delicious. I think that they have one of the best red sauces on their meatballs that I've ever had. My only complaint was that it was very hot in the dining room. I did eventually mention it to the server who agreed it was very hot and said she would see what she could do, but soon after that we left. We went into Rosso Italian on a Friday night and were able to get seating at the bar. We ordered meatballs and the ricotta honey appetizer and the ricotta honey was sooo good! I would definitely come back just for that. Our pasta orders were great as well, not sure if it was me that day but my linguine carettiera pasta was pretty spicy. We decided to stop here while walking in downtown phoenix. We got the macheroni al forno and the fussiloni rosso and the grilled focaccia. I thought the macheroni was very good and came out very hot! It was a pasta I would definitely get again. The fussiloni was just decent, the sauce wasn't very flavorful and just lacked for me. We got the focaccia with fresh pesto and that was also delicious and would recommend getting that with the pasta. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. What caught my eye specifically at Rosso Italian was the daily housemade pasta using imported "00" Italian flour. So I had to try it. I opted for the Papparadelle Short Rib and it was tasty but I was expecting a softer, squishier pasta given the menu description. I really enjoyed the wedge salad and eggplant Parmigiana - it did not appear breaded. I was torn between trying the tiramisu or cannoli and opted for the tiramisu because the hostess described it as light and said it was her favorite. I agree that it was light and it did taste good. My personal preference is something a little wetter/soggier with more espresso forward flavor. The servers were polite and attentive. We sat on the patio because it was a lovely afternoon. Rosso Italian was such a pleasant surprise. We went in with no expectations and were genuinely impressed--everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It's one of those places you don't realize you'll love until you're already planning your return. The vodka pasta was a standout: light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I almost never finish pasta dishes, but I cleaned my plate without hesitation. The appetizer was just as memorable--the bread and cheese were to die for and set the tone for the whole meal. After an excellent night at the Convention Center seeing Charlie Kirks Amerifest we stopped in to Rosso Italian hoping for a little quieter atmosphere but we certainly didn't find it here. The restaurant was so insanely loud to start with but with 30,000 people in town for Charlie's Convention we basically had no choice but to eat here because every place was busy. To make matters worse the tables are placed literally about 10 inches away from other tables so there was zero privacy. As far as the food goes we ordered the Toto Sapore ( Pizza ) & the Ravioli. Everything was about average & our server did an acceptable job but could've been much better. The best part of what was basically a bad experience was the character & decor was very Authentic feeling. Next time we are in Phoenix we will not be going back due to the bad experience we had not to mention the prices are on the high side. read more

First time checking out Rosso Italian and I'm already planning a return trip. The place has a really cool vibe - modern décor with pops of red (my favorite color), which definitely adds to the atmosphere. We came in for a pre-show dinner and drinks after hearing friends rave about the Blueberry Espresso Martini and the Burratella pizza - both totally lived up to the hype. That martini? Dangerous in the best way. We planned on just one, but after the first sip it was clear there'd be a round two. Who knew blueberry and espresso could be such a perfect combo? We started with the Zucchini Chips - light, crispy, and so addictive we finished them way too fast. Then came the Burratella pizza, which was absolute perfection: thin crust, great flavor, and just the right amount of chew. Our waitress was friendly and kind, but service overall was on the slower side - especially considering there were only a few other tables when we arrived. Nothing major, just noticeable. This is a cute little Italian spot in downtown- reservations made & sat instantly! We started with a few appetizers and main dishes - whipped ricotta and honey (my favorite all night) - baked focaccia with pesto - delicious pesto sauce. - Parmesan fries with aioli- the fries were cooked to perfection. I liked: Melon and Prosciutto Gnocchi Tirolese Burratella Pizza This was ok: Creme brulee I started with the melon and prosciutto, which was a refreshing bite. The sweetness of the melon cut nicely through the sharpness of the prosciutto, and the pairing worked surprisingly well together. The gnocchi Tirolese was enjoyable, made with vegetables and lighter than I expected. That said, the portion felt on the smaller side for an entrée, so I'd probably pair it with something else to make a full meal. The Burratella pizza came out with a bit of a kick, slightly spicy with a smoky crust. I wasn't a fan of the chili threads, but otherwise it was a solid pizza and a good shareable size. For dessert, I tried the crème brûlée, which unfortunately didn't land for me. It wasn't very firm, some parts were a little burnt, and it leaned more sour than creamy-sweet. The space itself is modern and inviting, though when I went the AC was off and they had fans running instead. It was a little warm but manageable. pretty good italian place in downtown phoenix! lots of choices of classic italian fare with some fun twists. great vibe and fun lighting, but service itself was pretty bad - the waiter forgot about our orders, and brought out drinks after a long time, but food came out early enough. the short rib papardelle is pretty good, and all the pastas are noticably homemade, with a great texture. the pasta itself was too salty without any noticable flavor other than the meat itself. the seafood pasta was a bit bland without much seafood flavor, but the pasta itself was good. the wedge salad was pretty standard, and the brussel sprouts too, but also too salty and oily, while i prefer them more sweet and acidic. the zuchinni chip pasta was pretty good though. the most memorable was the dessert, which was a hazelnut bready dessert that was limited edition - it was really fun and rich, with a wonderful variety of textures. read more

She forgot my friend's beer and never brought the soda my wife ordered. We eventually had to go to the bar ourselves. On top of that, some dishes were dirty, and the restroom wasn't clean either. The food was mixed. The Calamari Fritto had a good light batter, but it unexpectedly came with shrimp--my fault for missing that on the menu, (still... calamari should mean squid, right?). The grilled focaccia with pesto was excellent--the best dish of the night. The short rib was just okay, but the undercooked pasta was disappointing. We came here on a Friday night before going to an event downtown and were able to walk right in. I think the A/C was out because it was warm in there and they had giant floor fans aimed at the tables. I get things happen but I feel like a warning before we sat down would've been nice. It wasn't too hot for me but I'm on of those people that's always cold. The more annoying thing was the air from the fan blasting in our faces while trying to eat. When I went to sit down, I saw there was a stain on my chair. The food was good and the prices were average. The menu was pretty standard. There wasn't anything very unique on it. Went to Rosso for the happy hour chef board and bottle. For $25, I think it's a pretty good deal, especially if you're in downtown waiting for an event. Upon walking in we were greeted and sat quickly due to the end of the night. Appetizer: Caprese Salad- Tomatoes tasted fresh and juicy. With the combination of the mozzarella cheese the texture was soft and delightful. Of course the basil pesto and balsamic vinaigrette is the classic duo for a great caprese salad. Main: Seafood Risotto- The seafood, sauce and risotto were cooked perfectly. The taste, texture and aroma that this dish released was magnificent. The risotto was cooked to perfection, not too al dente or overly cooked(where most would make that mistake. Side: Creamy Polenta- This polenta side dish was a little too far from creamy. Although I finished the side dish it was quite salty, most likely due to too excessive mix of salt and parmigiano. Need to use less flavor to the polenta if adding parmigiano or the dish will come out as salty as this did. Over all service food and ambiance tied in together very well. Chose this place as a last minute dinner idea while in town for a conference. This was some of the best pasta and best pizza I've ever had. Next time I'm in Phoenix I will make it a point to come back here. The food was incredible. We tried pizzeria bianco for their pizza but dare I say I liked the dough on this pizza better.
