On this particular night, we were a party of 4 and shared a bunch of stuff: Caesar salad, salami board, calamari, meatballs, zucchini chips, gnocchi, and a pizza. Everything was tasty and delicious, except the zucchini chips. I thought it was going to be more like actual friend zucchini, you know, nice and crispy. Parking: We are staying near by and walked a few blocks to get here. The walk was pretty easy, no super busy roads or crazy alley ways. There are parking lots nearby; however, I would recommend reading all signage. Not sure if they are owned by the restaurant. Ambiance: This place is a chill vibe and has a changing table, which tells me that it is welcoming to families and kid-friendly. Thank you Stefano for thinking about us families out there! Service: We got there a bit early and was greeted with a smile and a quick convo with a gentleman who was sweeping outdoors. We later walked in and had great chats with the young lady serving Gelato and Hannah behind the bar. She made some great recommendations for us. Food: We had the focaccia which was lovely and the meatballs. I will say, I am usually not a big fan of meatballs because they are mostly soggy, but this one was delish. I've come here quite a lot for happy hour martinis after exam days. They have some of my favorite espresso martinis in town (the cannoli, specifically, is to die for). Exploring downtown Phoenix I came across Pomo. Decided to give it a go. The restaurant was packed so I was able to squeeze in at the bar. The staff was all friendly and the bartender was great at explaining the choices I had for dinner. I went with one of their pies and it was ok. I definitely needed some more ingredients for my tasting. I found myself leaving a lot of crust due to minimal cheese added to it. I came by with two friends on a Sunday morning, expecting the place to be packed (it was prime brunching hours) but to our surprise we were the first patrons of the day. We had stopped by for coffee ahead of coming to Pomo, so we only ordered two pizzas to share and they were both perfectly crispy and hot. I recommend the Diavola. Our server was attentive, checking in with us every now and again to ask if we needed anything, and refilling our waters. She was also kind enough to bring us both their signature hot honey and oil to pair with the pizzas. If it's not too hot or too cold, I recommend sitting outside. Pomo is located on 1 St, which isn't super busy / there isn't too much car traffic which makes it great to get some fresh air and people watch. read more

They offer paninis for their lunch specials -- I opted for a meatball panini and my partner ordered another panini. They are served on thick focaccia bread. We had regular 1 lemon drop, 3 pomo lemon drops, 1 pistachio expresso martini and, 1 the best espresso martini and alllllllll were delicious. We had a starter salad called panzanella. I never had grilled peaches in my salad before but it was very good pairings. We also got 2 different pizzas one was capricciosa and the burratella. We always try a new pizza when we go and these two were delicious!!! Of course some of my friends wanted ranch but honestly it didn't need it. They do give you fresh parmesan and crushed red peppers but they also have this chili out that great as well. I would not recommend the pasta tho for the price does not match the portion #youllleavehungry. I will start by saying that Phoenix is not NY, New Haven, or Chicago. However, Pomo makes a fantastic neapolitan pie with a closer to NY style crust. The pies are slightly larger than a personal, so one can work for two or one, if someone very hungry like myself. The Don Alfonso is my favorite, with the hot suppressa adding great flavor on top of the perfectly charred crust. I have also enjoyed the Quattro Formaggi and the Toto Sapore. This has been a place that I have confidently recommended friends, family, and coworkers. The restaurant is small, so a wait is possible. Fortunately Chambers is next door for a drink, or you can walk a block over to The Churchill while you wait. Definitely worth checking out if you are downtown and looking for a good pie! read more

Takes away from the dining experience, given how much you are paying and how good everything else is. Still, it wouldn't keep me from returning.
