Amazing, unique experience! I arrived with the preconceived ideas about being jostled in long lines in a poorly cooled pizza joint, sitting in a crowded restaurant at plastic tables eating plastic food. That misconception disappeared immediately upon stepping through the doorway. Warm, inviting ambiance, full of character. Attending the birthday celebration for an esteemed young man, our table wasn't ready (we were early) and the hostess offered us seats at the bar while awaiting our party. We each had a wine spritzer... may I say that the very few such concoctions I've had bearing that name didn't do justice to what we were served. I've never had anything like this, a "Sgroppino" (I'm partial to strawberry!) and it was perhaps the best adult beverage I've had in a very long time. Many different nuances in a glass. Stunning subtle, many diverse flavors. Mmm. Our bartender was an artist of the mixed adult beverage, a delightful individual with a warm, genuine smile and an encyclopedic knowledge of how to do his job expertly. Rare that you meet someone like this who isn't all measuring cups and shot glasses: everything he concocted was done by eye, and judging by what he made for us, his expertise was immediately apparent. When we'd all arrived, we were escorted to the "garden shed"... a smaller out-building filled with racks of wine, perhaps an ideal place for small wedding receptions or engagement parties. Well-cooled despite our broiling Phoenix evening. We had the garlic bread; someone ordered IL Tagliere, Calamari (no, thank you), and a basket of bread. You know how you go to a hamburger joint and what you're served looks nothing like the photos of their menu? Go to CiBO's web site and look at their menu: What you see in their photos is what you get. One visit and next time you look at their menu online, you'll salivate. Yes, the food is that good. I ordered the calzone. Delicious. Getting through it wasn't pretty... but it was excellent. Huge, very generous entree. Excellent flavors. Our server was delightful, attentive without being a nuisance. Our water glasses never reached empty, and the stories about the birthday boy (and others) were never interrupted. Set in the cutest "neighborhood house" location, you'll usually find a long wait for one of their indoor tables but they have a ton of outdoor spots with misters for the cooler days. Went from 5 to 3 Stars; only because past experiences were so good! Went in for lunch the other day and the service was AWFUL! There were kids at the drink station filling up cups. We were seated and immediately after sitting down I literally couldn't hear anything anyone was saying at my table. Most the customers were crammed into the front right room and it was impossible to hear anyone at my table with loud women surrounding us enjoying lunch (which is fine) but break up the crowd a little.. I immediately stood up and asked to be moved so we could atleast hear each other. The young teen who Sat us was very helpful and moved us to a different table in the back right. When I tried to order the appetizer, I said "Yes, (looking at the waitress) we'd like to split a Caprese ( glances at my daughter to confirm in a questioning voice hesitating at the end) The waitresses said, "ok, I'll come back in a few when you figure it out" obviously not willing to wait a few seconds for a confirmation. We just sat there going Wow?!? That was wild, we also had our pizza orders ready but ended up waiting till she wandered back our way. The entire time we felt like we were keeping her from her kids? Grandkids? We definitely put her out, drinks were not offered beyond the first, I had to ask for a second one. The pizzas came, but not mine. I was informed it was wrong and they had to remake it. After my pizza finally came I realized it was still rather doughy and undercooked. We moved on as my daughters were done eating thier pizza and one of them grabbed boxes and we boxed them and waited to order crepes. We finally got our crepes and mine didn't look gf and was missing the allergy flag. We waited a few and I finally got up and went to the front room, the 2 teen girls (servers? They were serving) were messing around in the front room and almost ran into me when I FINALLY went up front to say My food had been messed up after it was dropped, no one checked back. They kept messing around and then stopped and looked at me asking if I needed help. I said YES please. She went into the side room to the front left and the waitress got up from the table where she was sitting with the other kids (that were at the drink fountain when we'd walked in.) She asked what she could help me with... I told her my gf pizza was not cooked all the way; I'd thrown it into a box (that we'd actually went to get) and I'll reheat it properly later and eat it, but the crepe I was concerned as there was not an allergy flag and it looked JUST like my daughters texture wise. I'm familiar with the crepes and I REALLY didn't think it was gf. She said she would not do anything about the pizza since I didn't mention it prior but the crepe was indeed gluten free. A little stunned I again said I would take the pizza home and reheat, I didn't ask for anything in regards to the pizza as they reheat well... and I would not eat the crepe, I truly didn't think it was gf! She said they'd remake it. I replied no thank you. (I'd already sat once while my party ate, for the gf pizza to be remade... I wasn't doing that again. With an attitude she told me she'd remove it from the bill! One bite was cut out and STILL on the fork, it should but have been an issue. Has an amazing dinner here with a friend! We made reservations but instead opted to sit at the bar once we arrived. We had great service, yummy food, and delicious seasonal drinks! We both got the Sgroppino (frozen prosecco) to drink, one in strawberry and one in peach, and they were perfect for a hot summer evening. I had the Tartufata pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Cibo was so amazing! The best pizza and pasta I have ever had. I'll be thinking about our meal for a while. It was so good. We had a reservation for 7pm on a Thursday night. We arrived a few minutes before then and were seated right away. Our server was super friendly and the service was quick. We ordered the Rigatoni al Forno (baked sausage rigatoni), the pesto orecchiette with pine nuts and potatoes, and the Tartufata pizza (prosciutto, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms). Everything was so good. We were starving and ate everything. Definitely good sizes to share. The patio is so cute. I wish we would have eaten out there, but we weren't sure how hot it was going to be. Plenty of street parking around. Our local host made a reservation here, as it has gotten good reviews. The location is in a neighborhood just northwest of downtown Phoenix. The restaurant is a converted house, with most of the seating being in what had been the yard. There are a number of shade trees here, plus they have umbrellas, fans, and misters to keep it comfortable. It *may* be possible to sit inside as well, but this would likely require a reservation much further out than ours. The outside dining area was packed the whole time we were there. The outside tables were relatively comfortable when we ate here. They moved an umbrella over to block the setting sun for about 20 minutes, which was great. It looked like they had a musician tuning up her guitar but she had not started before we left. The menu featured selections of pastas, pizzas, and salads. We sampled 3 pizzas, all of which were good. As we were travelling and flying out the next morning, 2 of us split one, which was perfect for not having leftovers. The 4 in our group also sampled an appetizer composed of a fried rice ball with cheese. I was skeptical, but it was actually good. Parking is on-street, as there did not appear to be a dedicated lot for the restaurant itself. It was a busy area, but we did end up finding some spaces about a block and a half away in a residential area. I would definitely be up for another meal here. read more

Stopped here for our final night's dinner in Phoenix. Originally we had a steakhouse picked out, but made a change and headed here with a 9:30pm reservation. Located in a residential type area, the restaurant is inside a former house with a large outdoor seating area. Outdoor twinkle lights frame the areas and make this a great option if you prefer to dine outside. We had an indoor booking and checked in - immediately sat. It took a few minutes to get served but once we did, it was almost like the meal was in overdrive. That's a good thing. We ordered a margherita pizza to start which - with no exaggeration, came out in 3 minutes. Freshly made and dropped off. It was very good - slight char on the crust but airy dough, tangy sauce, good cheese and the most crucial part- basil. Textbook execution. For my entree I went with the gnocchetti sorrentina - gnocchi with a tangy red sauce, basil, and cheese inside. This was very good - the cheese in the sauce stuck to the fork but the flavors were spot-on. As dessert, I went with the Nutella milkshake which was served in what I remember as a glass chalice that used to be in those cat food commercials. It was very good and rich. Dinner with the family at Cibo's this evening. We sat inside thinking it was going to be way too hot to sit outside. I was pleasantly surprised and wished we would have. Their outside dining is amazing. Great atmosphere! They have a really nice misting system. Just as long as you don't sit right under it so your hair wont go flat. They also have fans that keep it cool as well. I thought it was great. Oh and as for the food, as always everything was delish. Our server was pleasant and had some amazing dessert recommendations. My best friend and I are always looking for new places to try within the valley. We even keep a list! Cibo has been on the list for quite awhile and we finally gave it a try at the end of February. We doubled up on appetizers and went with the ciabatta garlic bread and the arancini. The arancini was unlike any I've tried before as it was meatless. I initially thought I'd miss the meat that's usually mixed in or atop arancini, but I did not. It was delicious and perfectly fried. We also really loved the garlic bread. It was everything garlic bread should be and was paired with a side of their rich marinara sauce. For our meal, we split the Margherita pizza. We were divided on if we should try a pizza or a pasta dish, but since pizza seemed to be what Cibo is known for, we went with that. The pizza was absolutely a good choice. The dough was incredible and the toppings were so robust and fresh. Since we were out celebrating my birthday, the folks at Cibo gave me a birthday crepe with a sparkler on top. It was so tasty and such a kind gesture. We were also really impressed by Cibo's service. Our server, Jamey, was attentive and helped guide us through our many questions about the menu items. Alright I've been here twice- once earlier this year in January and again about 2 weeks ago. This place always has glowing reviews and I want to like it soooo bad, but both times has been a bad experience. A service nightmare. The first time in January, our server was extremely inattentive, it was freezing and they declined to turn on the heaters, and our drinks took a long time. The only saving grace was the food, SO GOOD. This most recent time, we had a reservation and were sat inside. We ordered our drinks: 3 Aperol spritz and a bottled beer. After waiting legitimately 20 minutes for our drinks, our server comes back and says they'll be out soon. (???) we order our entrees and receive said entrees BEFORE our first round of drinks we had ordered 35 minutes before. Our server came over and said they were changing out the bar (?) and they'd be there "as a dessert" (??). We then finally receive our drinks and one of us makes a joke that one is more full than the other two. The waiter overhears us and returns to the table to then tell us that the aperol spritz is a pre-batched cocktail and that they aren't any different from one another. Then WHY did it TAKE SO LONG? As he dropped the check he made a sarcastic joke that didn't land and kinda just walked away. Acting like it was totally fine that our drinks didn't come until we were done with our meal. I really want to like this place but the food is the only thing that's good about it. Really don't have a reason to return anymore. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Firstly their garlic bread is really good 10/10 would get that. We got like 3 different pizzas, 2 of which were tomato sauce based and the other was a white sauce based. The crust to every pizza was amazing, but the red sauce just wasn't it. It was like sweet and flavorless at the same time. Pizzas like Margherita pizzas are really like a "let the ingredients speak for themselves" and it just wasn't there. The white sauce was probably the best (it was like a arugula vinaigrette pizza) and that's just cuz the black vinaigrette can't go wrong. We also got the bolognese which was kinda a disappointment. The pasta noodles were all broken and the sauce was kinda watery. It wasn't anything special in flavor either. Cibo is the best pizza in town! The crust is slightly salty, perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. The pizza flavors are unique and all delicious. They also have several delicious and unique pastas to chose from as well. The restaurant itself is so cute! It's in an old house and there is also a large patio that's surrounded by green with bistro lights overhead. Last but not least, the prices for the delicious food are very reasonable! Holy moly the reviews don't lie - the best gluten free pizza in Arizona hands down. The first time I saw a gluten free pizza and wouldn't know it was gluten free only for the flag sticking out of it saying gluten free. The crust was fluffy and I've never seen that level of fluff before, the pizza itself was floppy yet had some crisp still and it was the perfect chew. We got the Da Vinci with cheese, sauce, and basil and the sauce was sweet and savory, the cheese ooey gooey, I'm a sauce person so my only complaint would be to add more sauce! They bring over grated parm, red pepper flakes, olive oil and vinegar to the table. The Genova was the star of the show. The pesto was divine and there was some sweet from the onions, the potatoes were cooked wonderfully, the cheese pulled it all together (pun intended). This was more unique and it delivered. Very impressed. We also had to get a gluten free crepe, we got the frutti di Bosco. It was massive and we were Already so full with leftovers but of course we couldn't say no! There was a good amount of mascarpone and it was light and airy and the crepe was also light and delicious. I loooove berries so this was perfect and there was so frickin many berries I was happily surprised. The lemon zest made this a truly refreshing dessert on a hot summer day. The restaurant itself has several different rooms you can eat in, it's bigger than it looks - yet there's only 5 parking spots lol you'll have to find one on a side street. Calamari for an app was good too, but something was missing. Maybe frozen, but not sure. I had the lunch (personal) diavola pizza and it was just good. I like a crust, but this seemed to be a lot of crust. And, I'm sorry....please don't ever serve crushed pepper in a tiny Shaker jar!
