Visited for dinner with my spouse and toddler and were pleasantly greeted by the team. The menu is hearty and diverse, with a range of price points suitable for a casual setting. I opted for the strawberry soda and loved it - had two! For our appetizer, we got the flambed cheese which was quite the experience (and a great appetizer to get us started). For dinner, I went with the lasagna which was such a healthy portion it ended up being two meals.

This restaurant was recommended by friends so I tried it for lunch. I had been told that it was a very popular Italian eatery so I was surprised to find it almost empty for my visit. It has a large and nice outside patio area along with an attractive interior. I ordered the 3 meat Fazzoletti meal for $29. I asked the waiter if it came with any bread and he said he would take care of that for me. He also asked if I wanted some olive oil and vinegar for dipping and I said sure. The meal arrived within 15 minutes with a plate of several toasted bread slices and a plate of oil and vinegar. The ragu meat was covered in a white cream sauce of mozzarella, ricotta and Parmesan. I stated with the cream sauce and was surprised to find it was at room temperature! I called over the waiter and he took it back and a new plate of that entree arrived in about 5 more minutes with an apology from the kitchen. While waiting I enjoyed the bread, oil and vinegar but wondered why did they bring me so much bread? The Fazzoletti was now hot and tasted very good. I enjoyed it with its rich flavor and made with quality ingredients. I can see why The Sicilian Butcher is popular here in Phoenix. When the bill arrived I noticed a $4 charge for the bread and another $1 for the oil and vinegar. I paid it but told the waiter that he should have told me that it would cost extra. Minus 1 star.

Fresh, homemade Italian food!! Great menu with a lot of variety. Lots of appetizers and love the portion of the menu where you can pick your meatball type, pasta and sauce!! Newly added pizzas. Great, friendly staff!!

The Sicilian Butcher used to be a staple for my family years ago and we decided to go back, especially now that they take reservations and the restaurant is known to get packed. I love being able to build your own pasta, with various choices of meatballs that accommodate many different preferences and diets. The Sicilian Butcher provides a nice meal and ensures everyone leaves happy and content. The restaurant gives a nice Italian feel and the desserts (while not had at this particular meal) are always delicious. Especially the cannolis! The lasagna was good and the sauce was tasty. It is an easy meal and an nice restaurant to go to every once in awhile!

Haven't been to this location in a few. Made a reservation which was a good idea since the restaurant was packed. Was able to get seated right away. Our server was very nice and attentive throughout the entire meal. Started with some house bread and the eggplant parmigiana. Was craving some lasagna so had to try it here. 10 layers nicely stacked and baked to perfection. The pasta sheets were firm but not over cooked and the meat sauce was really delicious.

Sicilian Baker next door has a mini cannoli and gelato for $5 this week! Staff was a little confused at first but otherwise honored the deal we saw on Instagram. The mini cannolis were great and the shell was very crispy! The pastas were great and very flavorful and fragrant. I really enjoyed truffle mushroom creste de gallo pasta! It did have a lot of umami. I went with a friend who said he was going to cry at how tasty it was lol. The 2 for $22 on Tuesday's deal is really great. The restaurant was nicely lit with some prosciutto hanging on the side and the pasta came out decently quick also!

This is my second visit for happy hour at the bar, so this review is overdue! Good experiences both of them. The first visit I sat outside in the shade for an early happy hour, missing the peak sun hitting the bar directly. This time I sat inside because at 6:00 p.m. the evening Sun was baking the two parties outside under the misters. There was plentiful happy hour seating remaining at the bar and the high tops, but only for a few minutes and the inside bar filled up. I studied the menu and sipped a house red wine while waiting for my friend to arrive. The house red had a rich flavor and was bargain priced at $6 for happy hour. I see from my receipt that it was a Merlot. It was tasty I had two. Smiles. From the happy hour menu, I selected the burrata cheese and heirloom tomatoes appetizer nipple while I waited. This was the perfect portion for one person and a creamy spectacular burrata with a little pesto underneath. The tomatoes were a nice variety of colors sizes and textures, some riper than others but all delicious. There were enough tomatoes to save my friend a few pieces to try when she arrived. Both of the bartenders on duty were outgoing and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. These are well-trained, experienced employees. Friend arrived and asked several questions about the mocktail ingredients. She chose one that was bright pink and a little bitter, yum! Bartender Jarrell looks just like her son, they even took a picture together to send him. I asked many menu and preparation method questions, and arrived on ordering a small $4 side of polenta and a single meatball with sauce. Again, I really appreciate these tiny portions being available so I can sample many things! I ordered the steak meatball with mushroom cream sauce. It was unbelievably tender, and the mushrooms were big meaty generous pieces. I loved this dish and will order it again. In fact my friend ordered the same combo with the pesto. We also considered the risotto side, although it's more pricey. It was a lovely evening, we visited for a long time and never felt rushed to leave the bar. I will say the only drawback was once I quit ordering wine, it was hard to get my water refilled. I'm going to keep the Sicilian Butcher in my regular rotation, especially since they offer a couple of gluten friendly sides in a small reasonably priced portions. Thank you Chef Joey, you have hit another one out of the ballpark!

Wisely we made a last minute reservation here ahead of time. At 5:45 on a Friday, this place was packed! The dining room was moderately loud. The garlic bread app we ordered was very good, ample herbed garlic butter, enough for 4 people to share. Three of us ordered the BYO pasta which was a good choice. My tagliatelle with vodka sauce had good flavor, but some of the noodles were stuck together in a clump on the bottom of the dish with no sauce on them, clearly not tossed with the sauce well before plating. The Sicilian meatballs had a good texture and taste. The truffle mushroom cream pasta with chicken meatballs was a little disappointing. The noodles were cooked well and the sauce was rich and evenly balanced, yet the mushrooms tasted like they were canned rather than fresh. The chicken meatballs were also not satisfying as they were dry and flavorless. The paparadelle pasta with meatballs and bolognese was delicious, nice tomato sauce with meat, and sausage and steak meatballs that were cooked well with good flavor. Good service. Overall a good meal, may or may not return based on this experience.

This is my second time at the Sicilian Butcher -- I came here several years ago on a business trip before I moved to Arizona and I had been looking forward to returning. I made a reservation on OpenTable for 2 - I highly recommend making reservations especially on a weekend and at 6:30pm on a Saturday this place was hopping! Parking is pretty easy, there is a big lot but we did have to park a bit further because it was pretty crowded -- but we still found a spot. They have a big outdoor dining area and there were tons of misters -- very needed on a hot Phoenix evening!! During the reservation process I was able to opt for inside dining because I wanted to really absorb the ambiance -- one note is that the indoor dining room is extremely loud -- it was hard to hear across the table at times, but it was buzzing so that was fun. I really liked the decor of the restaurant, it felt industrial and modern. So on to the food and the service -- the service was pretty good, sometimes spotty but they were extremely busy so I understood. It took about 5 minutes to come over to us after we were seated (we were a bit early for the reservation) and then another 5 or so minutes to get our drinks -- it took a bit longer for my wine to come out too. But after we ordered the pace and service really picked up, so I was happy about that. We started with a zucchini special -- I actually wasn't sure what to expect because it said that it was fried zucchini but when it came out it didn't appear to be fried. The presentation of the zucchini was exquisite -- but it was cold and not fried. It was extremely thin slices of zucchini that possibly were pan fried but they were cold and then there were this big dollops of ricotta -- it was almost too much -- smaller dollops or less dollops would have been better -- also was it supposed to be cold? It was good but definitely not what I had expected. Next time I need to try the bruschetta because that looked really good. My dad ordered the chicken parm and I had the special ravioli -- described as "Ravioli Cacio Pepe -- stuffed with whipped ricotta and spinach, pecorino cream and black pepper". It was good -- the pasta was nice and melt in your mouth -- just overall it was very rich. My dad enjoyed his parm and a side of rigatoni. We also got a small dinner salad -- I think the parm came with it but I had to order mine separately. It was good but nothing amazing -- all very fresh veggies/lettuce though. As we were wrapping up (and deciding not to have dessert) the waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything, which we were having an early Father's Day dinner since I was going to be out of town on the actual day. He came back a few minutes later and said his manager wanted to buy us dessert -- either tiramisu or a cannoli -- we chose the cannoli -- it was actually amazing!! The best part of the meal -- the cannoli crust was so flaky and the inside of the cannoli had little bits of orange zest or something -- it was so delicious!! Overall I very much enjoyed my evening at the Sicilian Butcher - definitely a great restaurant to take out of town guests -- it is quite pricey so for me it is more of a special occasion spot, but a good one and will be returning for sure.

Pobre cita. I'm sorry but I cannot return here. People around me were raving but my experience didn't match. The servers(staff) during our visit were wildly inexperienced. My partner and I waited for maybe 10 minutes before we got a bussers attention for at least water. Then 10 or more for us to get someone else's attention for food. Mind you, this was not a busy time at all. Then with the prices representing fine dining, I expected my pizza and pasta to be resembling such. Unfortunately they both missed the bar by far. If you come here please don't get the pizza and be careful what pasta you get. Also I cannot justify an extra charge for meat on an already highly priced pasta. The bread was fantastic though. Sad we paid $14 for it when Italian restaurants give it for free normally. Please be careful before coming here.

Ask the Community - The Sicilian Butcher

For a Friday night at 8 how busy does it get and how long is a wait usually?

It gets pretty busy. Wait times vary but I would recommend making a reservation.

Do they give a free dessert for your Birthday?

    Yes!!

Does the restaurant offer brunch? No menu listed on their website...?

There is a menu. They do have a brunch

Is the pasta made in house? Is it fresh pasta?

The pasta is made fresh and in house.

This came up when I searched keto but it looks like all the meatballs are made with breadcrumbs. Is that true and do you offer spiralized veggies in place of pasta? Otherwise, looks like it's limited to just a couple salads.

Hi there, Our meatballs do contain breadcrumbs and we do not have spiraled veggies to offer instead of pasta.

    When is Happy hour?

    When the food arrives...

Do you allow small dogs in the out door seating?

Hi there! Yes, we do have a dog-friendly patio.

Do they have happy hour? What kind of specials do you have?

Hi there! We have happy hour all day everyday in the happy hour bar area!

    Do they take reservations?

Only for large parties of 10 or more.

Do you have a kids menu?

    We've never seen one.

Will you be open Christmas Eve?

Yes, open on Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day

Did they change their happy hour policy? I thought in February it was happy hour all day at the high tops or the bar and now I see online that it says happy hour 11 to 6 daily in the bar only. When did that change?

Yes, they did change the hours for their happy hour, and the change occurred recently--as in a couple of months ago at most.

    Do they take reservations?

No, they don't unless you have a party of 10 or more.

Can I make an outdoor reservation for 5 on Saturday nite?

Unfortunately they only take reservations for 10+ people. They are really strict on this policy.…

    Are there vegan options?

They had eggplant meatballs, vegetarian maybe, vegan not so much.

Do you have gluten free food?

Yes, there are many gluten free options. Gluten free pasta is available as well, along with polenta and risotto.

    Any gluten free options?

    Yes. Gluten free pasta

On a Tuesday when does it start getting busy? We want to get there before then

Ive been there on Tuesday and other weeknights around this time. Seems pretty typical, dining room is usually at pace about 6, 630/7 for the bar where they offer happy hour menu all day.

Can meatballs be made gluten free & dairy free?

    Yes

Will your Caponata ever be available to ship?

The wait staff were awesome and the service was great; we were not overly impressed with the food (no substitutions for certain items based on allergies so be aware). We had the bacon wrapped dates (good), Cesar salad (fresh but had a very tangy lemon flavor) and the beef bolognese ( we really wanted to like this, and the sauce that itself was good, but as the noodles were very al dente and more of a protein wheat based pasta flavor). We are glad we tried it (thanks Mrazsports!) but would not make it a rotational restaurant.

-- "Five Stars for the Beer, Six Stars for the Defensive Perimeter"…read more I originally came to Kitsune Brewing for the Forager, their hazy IPA, and the music bingo Thursday nights. I stayed because it turns out they are the last line of defense against the car-obsessed hoodlums who periodically descend upon our peaceful neighborhood like a swarm of under-muffled locusts. First, the beer: exceptional. The Forager tastes like citrus had a well-adjusted childhood. The Baba Yaga stout is darker than my browser history and twice as complex. The Belgian Blonde lives up to its name by being approachable, pale-colored and complex, while providing a great head. But truthfully, you can't go wrong with any selection from their rotating taps; they even have wine and cocktails! Now let's address the elephant doing donuts in the parking lot.... Around 8:30pm, just as I was settling into my second Cider and Sly, the distant rumble began. Engines revving. Tires squealing. The mating call of the Chrome-Bumpered Youth Brigade. Before I could even process what was happening, the staff sprang into action with the calm efficiency of people who have absolutely done this before. Garage-style security doors? Well no, but the doors were locked to keep the riff raff out. While the patrons were secure inside with a view thru the windows of police cars, helicopters, and pimple faced miscreants in search of a Hurst shifter to mount. Even the bartender gently reassured us: "No worries, folks. They'll get bored once they realize we don't validate parking". Meanwhile, inside: cozy vibes. Gentle laughter at people mistaking car backfires for gunfire. Music turned up just enough to drown out the external symphony of questionable life choices. A new friend I had made at the bar offered to by another round so we could wait out the mass exodus of souped-up vehicles from the parking lot. I have never felt safer. It was as if I had returned to my mother's bosom. At one point a particularly enthusiastic engine rev rattled the windows, and without missing a beat the guy next to me just raised his glass and said, "To fortified fermentation." We all toasted. Community is beautiful. So yes -- come for the craft beer. But stay because this microbrewery has the tactical readiness of a medieval castle, but with cleaner bathrooms. I would absolutely shelter in place here again.

I showed up in my work attire, definitely not dressed for this restaurant and from the hostess all the way to my server and bartender and everyone treated me with the upmost respect. They moved me to a better table, and for the inconvenience gave me another mocktail. This is absolutely my favorite absolutely 100% amazing. How anybody wouldn't like it with baffle me you have to go.

This was years ago, before the speakeasy existed. I remember we were greeted at the table with glasses of champagne. Service was impeccable, food was delicious. We had one of the best desserts of our lives. 10/10 first impression. We went back maybe a year later after the speakeasy was built in, and it seemed like all their attention went to that instead. They were out of a bunch of dishes on the menu. I remember we all got our food except for my husband and we finally had to ask the server what was going on with his dish and that's when they told us they were out of that dish he had ordered too. They offered to make something else on the house, but at this point we were all almost done with our food so he ended up with nothing. They did try to make it right, I'll give them that, but it was a weird experience. We decided to give the restaurant one last try for my mom's birthday over the weekend and it solidified our opinions on this place. First of all, it's EXPENSIVE. I get it's Scottsdale but they are trying way too hard with $80 ribeyes and $1500 bottles of wine, but not giving you anything for it. Don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy an expensive meal when I feel it's warranted. The food, service, details need to go above and beyond to justify my $500+ tab. That's just not the case here. The server didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Didn't even offer a birthday dessert? We ordered salads before our meals and our entrees showed up two minutes later. My sister had her leftover pasta boxed up and they never brought it back. She asked about it and they said they could fire her a new one, but we were ready to go at this point. These are not issues you should be having at an upscale restaurant at this price point. After all this, we won't be returning. There are much better restaurants at lesser price points that offer amazing food with above and beyond experience. Everyone try Restaurant Progress instead!

For me, it was a big hike up to the north side- but totally worth the haul! I grew up in the Midwest, occasionally going to one or two German restaurant/ clubs, so this was not an unfamiliar atmosphere to me. It is definitely a "seasoned" vibe, having immediately taken over the space by a former western bar/beer hall that had been in existence for 50+ years. Their menu says "German and Hungarian" but all I read was German. They have a solid European beer selection, including taps and bottles and some cocktails with a German twist. The one that threw me for a loop (in the best way) was Kriek! So ofc I got a pint. We shared a (fairly large) pretzel to start, which comes with beer cheese. Tasty, but I was genuinely shocked there was no mustard. I ordered the jagerschnitzel (pork) and just overall the meal was as expected as if I was in the Midwest - amazing, delicious, insert chef's kiss. I wish I could have joined the clean plate club. The cucumber salad was flavorful and not too sour/pickley. My friend and I both noted how umami the savory sauce was- not too bacon, not too mushroom. The potatoes were not too salty or under-seasoned. Literally willing to drive up again if/when someone tells me to go. It wasn't horribly busy so it didn't take forever to order and get everything we needed. Our server was super nice and patient. She even gave a bar suggestion that ended up being a nice cherry for the top of the evening.

It's their take on bruschetta, although I'd describe it more as a flatbread. It comes topped with honey smoked salmon, jalapeño cream cheese, red onion, crispy fried capote capers, chili oil, lemon, and parsley. The flavors were good, especially the honey smoked salmon, but unfortunately it had very little jalapeño cream cheese. Without it, the flatbread was a little dry. I also would have loved a little more chili oil and lemon. The cream cheese would have added the richness it needed. Thankfully, our other dishes were great. We ordered the Smorgasbord, which is consistently fabulous, and split the Humble Caesar, one of our all-time favorites. Those two dishes never disappoint. Humble Bistro continues to be one of favorites. If I order The Kosher again I would ask they make sure and add cream cheese.
