This restaurant was recommended by friends so I tried it for lunch. I had been told that it was a very popular Italian eatery so I was surprised to find it almost empty for my visit. It has a large and nice outside patio area along with an attractive interior. I ordered the 3 meat Fazzoletti meal for $29. I asked the waiter if it came with any bread and he said he would take care of that for me. He also asked if I wanted some olive oil and vinegar for dipping and I said sure. The meal arrived within 15 minutes with a plate of several toasted bread slices and a plate of oil and vinegar. The ragu meat was covered in a white cream sauce of mozzarella, ricotta and Parmesan. I stated with the cream sauce and was surprised to find it was at room temperature! I called over the waiter and he took it back and a new plate of that entree arrived in about 5 more minutes with an apology from the kitchen. While waiting I enjoyed the bread, oil and vinegar but wondered why did they bring me so much bread? The Fazzoletti was now hot and tasted very good. I enjoyed it with its rich flavor and made with quality ingredients. I can see why The Sicilian Butcher is popular here in Phoenix. When the bill arrived I noticed a $4 charge for the bread and another $1 for the oil and vinegar. I paid it but told the waiter that he should have told me that it would cost extra. The Sicilian Butcher used to be a staple for my family years ago and we decided to go back, especially now that they take reservations and the restaurant is known to get packed. I love being able to build your own pasta, with various choices of meatballs that accommodate many different preferences and diets. The Sicilian Butcher provides a nice meal and ensures everyone leaves happy and content. Sicilian Baker next door has a mini cannoli and gelato for $5 this week! Staff was a little confused at first but otherwise honored the deal we saw on Instagram. The mini cannolis were great and the shell was very crispy! The pastas were great and very flavorful and fragrant. I really enjoyed truffle mushroom creste de gallo pasta! It did have a lot of umami. I went with a friend who said he was going to cry at how tasty it was lol. The 2 for $22 on Tuesday's deal is really great. This is my second visit for happy hour at the bar, so this review is overdue! Good experiences both of them. The first visit I sat outside in the shade for an early happy hour, missing the peak sun hitting the bar directly. This time I sat inside because at 6:00 p.m. the evening Sun was baking the two parties outside under the misters. There was plentiful happy hour seating remaining at the bar and the high tops, but only for a few minutes and the inside bar filled up. I studied the menu and sipped a house red wine while waiting for my friend to arrive. The house red had a rich flavor and was bargain priced at $6 for happy hour. I see from my receipt that it was a Merlot. It was tasty I had two. Smiles. From the happy hour menu, I selected the burrata cheese and heirloom tomatoes appetizer nipple while I waited. This was the perfect portion for one person and a creamy spectacular burrata with a little pesto underneath. The tomatoes were a nice variety of colors sizes and textures, some riper than others but all delicious. There were enough tomatoes to save my friend a few pieces to try when she arrived. Both of the bartenders on duty were outgoing and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. These are well-trained, experienced employees. Friend arrived and asked several questions about the mocktail ingredients. She chose one that was bright pink and a little bitter, yum! Bartender Jarrell looks just like her son, they even took a picture together to send him. I asked many menu and preparation method questions, and arrived on ordering a small $4 side of polenta and a single meatball with sauce. Again, I really appreciate these tiny portions being available so I can sample many things! I ordered the steak meatball with mushroom cream sauce. It was unbelievably tender, and the mushrooms were big meaty generous pieces. I loved this dish and will order it again. In fact my friend ordered the same combo with the pesto. We also considered the risotto side, although it's more pricey. It was a lovely evening, we visited for a long time and never felt rushed to leave the bar. I will say the only drawback was once I quit ordering wine, it was hard to get my water refilled. I'm going to keep the Sicilian Butcher in my regular rotation, especially since they offer a couple of gluten friendly sides in a small reasonably priced portions. Wisely we made a last minute reservation here ahead of time. At 5:45 on a Friday, this place was packed! The dining room was moderately loud. The garlic bread app we ordered was very good, ample herbed garlic butter, enough for 4 people to share. Three of us ordered the BYO pasta which was a good choice. My tagliatelle with vodka sauce had good flavor, but some of the noodles were stuck together in a clump on the bottom of the dish with no sauce on them, clearly not tossed with the sauce well before plating. The Sicilian meatballs had a good texture and taste. The truffle mushroom cream pasta with chicken meatballs was a little disappointing. The noodles were cooked well and the sauce was rich and evenly balanced, yet the mushrooms tasted like they were canned rather than fresh. The chicken meatballs were also not satisfying as they were dry and flavorless. The paparadelle pasta with meatballs and bolognese was delicious, nice tomato sauce with meat, and sausage and steak meatballs that were cooked well with good flavor. Good service. This is my second time at the Sicilian Butcher -- I came here several years ago on a business trip before I moved to Arizona and I had been looking forward to returning. I made a reservation on OpenTable for 2 - I highly recommend making reservations especially on a weekend and at 6:30pm on a Saturday this place was hopping! Parking is pretty easy, there is a big lot but we did have to park a bit further because it was pretty crowded -- but we still found a spot. They have a big outdoor dining area and there were tons of misters -- very needed on a hot Phoenix evening!! During the reservation process I was able to opt for inside dining because I wanted to really absorb the ambiance -- one note is that the indoor dining room is extremely loud -- it was hard to hear across the table at times, but it was buzzing so that was fun. I really liked the decor of the restaurant, it felt industrial and modern. So on to the food and the service -- the service was pretty good, sometimes spotty but they were extremely busy so I understood. It took about 5 minutes to come over to us after we were seated (we were a bit early for the reservation) and then another 5 or so minutes to get our drinks -- it took a bit longer for my wine to come out too. But after we ordered the pace and service really picked up, so I was happy about that. We started with a zucchini special -- I actually wasn't sure what to expect because it said that it was fried zucchini but when it came out it didn't appear to be fried. The presentation of the zucchini was exquisite -- but it was cold and not fried. It was extremely thin slices of zucchini that possibly were pan fried but they were cold and then there were this big dollops of ricotta -- it was almost too much -- smaller dollops or less dollops would have been better -- also was it supposed to be cold? It was good but definitely not what I had expected. Next time I need to try the bruschetta because that looked really good. My dad ordered the chicken parm and I had the special ravioli -- described as "Ravioli Cacio Pepe -- stuffed with whipped ricotta and spinach, pecorino cream and black pepper". It was good -- the pasta was nice and melt in your mouth -- just overall it was very rich. My dad enjoyed his parm and a side of rigatoni. We also got a small dinner salad -- I think the parm came with it but I had to order mine separately. It was good but nothing amazing -- all very fresh veggies/lettuce though. As we were wrapping up (and deciding not to have dessert) the waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything, which we were having an early Father's Day dinner since I was going to be out of town on the actual day. He came back a few minutes later and said his manager wanted to buy us dessert -- either tiramisu or a cannoli -- we chose the cannoli -- it was actually amazing!! The best part of the meal -- the cannoli crust was so flaky and the inside of the cannoli had little bits of orange zest or something -- it was so delicious!! Overall I very much enjoyed my evening at the Sicilian Butcher - definitely a great restaurant to take out of town guests -- it is quite pricey so for me it is more of a special occasion spot, but a good one and will be returning for sure. read more

My partner and I waited for maybe 10 minutes before we got a bussers attention for at least water. Then 10 or more for us to get someone else's attention for food. Mind you, this was not a busy time at all. Then with the prices representing fine dining, I expected my pizza and pasta to be resembling such. Unfortunately they both missed the bar by far. If you come here please don't get the pizza and be careful what pasta you get. Also I cannot justify an extra charge for meat on an already highly priced pasta. The bread was fantastic though. I can see why this place is one of the highest reviewed restaurants in Phoenix. On a recent trip to this fine city, my friends and I were trying to find a nice dinner on a Saturday night. All signs pointed to The Sicilian Butcher. I was hesitant about coming for the simple fact that they have locations in Texas. Not in my city, but close enough. When on vacay, I like to try things that is not accessible to me back home. I went against my own rules and boy, am I glad I did! This place was great. Making a reservation was easy and our table was ready when we arrived. The inside dining area is pretty spacious, but they also have a massive patio as well. Wes was our server and he handled our group with ease. He was super friendly and very helpful when it came to the menu and helping us choose what to eat and drink. We started off with cocktails. We had a fun filled day and I was in need of a little pick me up so I went with an espresso martini. Wes gave me an option of getting it mocha which I agreed to. I never had it that way and it turned out to be very good. For appetizers, we went with Fritto Misto which is fried calamari. It was suggested we try the shrimp and calamari as well. I love calamari so getting it prepared two different ways sounded like a great idea. The fried calamari was tasty and a very generous portion. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was probably one of my favorite things of the night though. It was a generous portion of both seafood and potatoes, in a bath of this spicy sauce made with a spicy pork sausage. I would totally get that as an entree with some bread for dipping and be happy. As far as mains go, they have options. They have salads, pizza, a meatball ferris wheel, pastas, parmigianos and their call to fame, craft meatballs and pasta. There were so many good looking options but I went with my usual go to at Italian restaurants, chicken parmigiano. This thing was massive. It was thinly pounded which gave it a nice crunch even with cheese and sauce smothering it. I could taste the high quality ingredients as well. I was very happy with this dish. One thing I did not like was that it didn't come with pasta. I've never had one that didn't come with pasta of some sort. It was an upcharge to add which I did. They have lots of options as far as types of pasta as well as sauces. Overall, my party and I had a wonderful experience here. I did not hear one complaint from anyone. My husband, myself & my cousin had dinner last night. From beginning to end the experience was great. The host seated us happily even though we were 1/2 hr. early for our reservation. Our server named Lisa came over to introduce herself - she couldn't have been nicer or more professional! We were waiting for my cousin also named Lisa - lol! So amazing having dinner here tonight! I was really happy to get in since it's popular and my date did a day of reservation. We actually went early at 5pm so that's key. We hadn't ate all day so it was perfect timing. We started with a limoncello tartini & I had the spicy Sicilian. It was excellent and spicy and it was beautiful for our patio table. Tiana took care of us from start to finish to middle to the side. She was very engaging with us, gave superb recommendations and we wanted to stay and talk to her all darn night! I'll have to visit again to see her lovely smile and effervescent personality. I had the meatball Ferris wheel and I took a video of how cute and whimsical it was. I wanted to try ALL the meatballs cuz you know, Go big or Go Home. I really liked the chicken and eggplant meatballs. Tiana recommended i get a side of pasta, cuz they make it there fresh. So of course I wanted chef made pasta. It was beyond fantastic. Tiana had me get the large flat noodle, paparadelle? It was so good. Really good pasta. I got vodka sauce but next time I'll try a crème sauce, maybe cacio pepe. Tiana said that was good so I will order as she tells! My date had the chicken parm and it was a giant portion, like a whole side of a chicken. He shared one tiny piece and it was excellent. It was really tasty. I should have insisted he give me another slice so I don't know what's up with that. He didn't finish it, it was that big and he's a big guy. I wanted the visit their bakery. This was one of those amazing spots we just kind of stumbled into, and it ended up being a highlight of the trip. The first thing that stands out is the massive, beautifully maintained outdoor seating area. It's covered, pet-friendly, and thoughtfully designed with fireplaces and privacy walls that give each table a more intimate feel. The bakery area adds another layer of charm, with rolling pins and whisks hanging from the ceiling, it all feels intentional and immersive without being over the top. The menu is just as fun and different as the space itself. I started with the Sicilian wedge and then had to go for what they're known for, the handcrafted meatballs. You can mix and match meatballs with different pastas, but the real showstopper is the "meatball carousel." It lets you sample multiple meatballs with their recommended sauces, all presented on an elaborate Ferris wheel-style display that turns heads across the restaurant. It's a full experience, not just a meal. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. What truly made the night, though, was our server, Mia. She struck that perfect balance of fun and professional, engaging, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. My family and I had a fantastic meal! The food was so good that we kept stealing bites from each other's plates. My son and husband did the Build Your Own Pasta, and both sauces were really good. The Alfredo was incredibly creamy, and the carbonara had these delicious little bits of pork that made the dish. The pork meatballs were a standout too: tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The beef meatballs were just okay and a little bland in comparison. But then they grate fresh, salt parmesan on top of your pasta and it all comes together! I ordered the Ménage à Trois, which comes with seafood, and it was absolutely delicious. Easily something I would order again. One of the most fun parts of the meal was the dessert case. Tiramisu, cookies, cannolis... so many treats to look at, and the cannolis were my favorite. But really, desserts are always my favorite anywhere. The only real miss for me was Nonna's bread with garlic butter. It was fluffy and tasty enough, but definitely overpriced for what it is. Honestly, you could recreate something similar from a grocery store bakery aisle for a fraction of the cost. Overall, this was a great meal with lots of hits and a super fun atmosphere. First of all service all had an attitude. Our waitress took our order, Flora salad! The tomatoes tasted like they were rotten. We ordered the eggplant meat balls & truffle pasta. The meatballs were hard and dry. Very salty and so was truffle sauce. My husband and I told the waitress, she replied that other people complained about the same dry meat balls. I have order them before many times. They never tasted like this before. The waitresses had an attitude. She said there was nothing to do that she could correct after trying another batch of three . They were worse and she brought out this very salty mushroom sauce. The sauce was always good before. This visit it was so salty and dark and thick, like it had been hanging around for a while. The waitress brought the check seeing we didn't touch the meatballs or the new sauce! She said that she hoped we come back, I replied that I didn't think we would be back. The waitress said and did nothing! We went into the bakery and that young man had attitude. We ask if they had a certain gelato, he replied no and they don't carry the same flavors and he walked away. Didn't even ask if we wanted something else! So very disappointed and was sick most of the night. Will not go back for another try ... lost my very regular business. I even had a big wedding rehearsal at the PV location. Outstanding as always on every level! Our waitress Mia was the absolute best! We came here to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The staff was unbelievably accommodating. They brought My Daughter a birthday card and came and brought her a birthday dessert of her choice without singing, happy birthday, which was a bonus for her, but brought out a candle for her to sing happy birthday when she wanted.! the food was amazing as always the food is always impeccable, but I would have to say that a star of the shell this time was the customer service and our waitress Mia! A few colleagues and I came to this establishment for dinner and we ordered a few items ranging from meatballs to pasta mainly. Personally I had quite a few drinks but I didn't take pictures for all of them. They all tasted pretty good, honestly, ranging from the Passion Fruit Garibaldi to the Statue of David, which also looked quite worthy of photos because the drink was served in a porcelain container that was designed to look like the statue of David. That was quite the highlight. I didn't try any of the meatballs but my colleagues enjoyed the ferris wheel. Judging by the types of meatballs included, which were tomaso's meatball, sausage, eggplant, steak, chicken parm, and turkey, it must've been worth it to at least get. Personally I tried a few salads, and the Flora's Salad was pretty good, with my only constructive feedback as that the balsamic vinaigrette was a bit too strong to the point of heavily affecting the taste of the leafy greens specifically. It worked well with the tomatoes and artichokes, but not as much with greens and roasted peppers. The kale & apple salad had an adequate amount of balsamic included, and since it included candied walnuts, it balanced the flavor out well. My only constructive feedback is that adding protein to the salad would cause the price to skyrocket. Overall this was a good establishment to visit. While I am not sure when the next time I would return to Phoenix will be, I do see myself revisiting this spot if I am to make it back to the city. read more

What special about this place is the indoor and outdoor ambience which is open airy high ceilings and comfortable with cushion seats even in the outside misters heaters for a cold times and a lot of space. The food is above average for Italian with from scratch ingredients so everything seems fresh and a great bakery just attached to it. I would say try out all their cookies. Save them for afterwards and you don't have to have them at the dinner table. The pasta was good. The meatballs were excellent. A friend had wanted to dine at a different location, closer to the venue before attending a concert in a few weeks and I wasn't sure what I would like or what I would have considered a "safe option" for the actual show day. So, I decided to come to this location and try it out a few weeks beforehand to kind of get an idea of what to avoid / get on the actual day. After looking over the menu, we ordered Nonna's garlic bread and a margherita pizza to start off with. Both items were good, classic dishes you can't go wrong with. Though, for the margherita pizza, the tomato sauce to mozzarella ratio was a little uneven for our preferences. For our main entrees, I ordered the lobster fazzoletti for myself and the family member I went with ordered a "build your own" pasta dish. For her build your own, she chose rigatoni pasta with pesto sauce and Uncle Arthur's sausage meatballs. At a glance, the portion size of the fazzoletti looked a little small but looks can be deceiving. I was struggling at the end to finish it. Each piece was stuffed to the brim! My family and I ordered pizza and tiramisu for dinner & dessert. The place was packed when we got there. We lucked out and got a patio seat near the firepit. The gentleman who seated us was extra sweet and pulled up an extra chair for an unexpected guest of ours. Our first experience was excellent. read more

The food here is amazing. I would love to try everything on the menu. The shrimp and calamari starter is dream worthy. Especially with the bread. The baked rigatoni is always fantastic. I searched for the best places to eat in Surprise AZ are and this is supposed to be the one. I of course made reservations since I am always prepared when it comes to food in other locations. We arrived and the place already had a lot of people in it. They seated us right away. In a large shared table that could fit eight. We sat together on one side. it was like sitting on a comfy couch. Our server came by to get our drink order and then explained the great food since we have never been here. We got the FAZZOLETTI and CHICKEN PARMIGIANA meatballs with CAMPANELLE noodles. It was so amazing. The flavors were fabulous. I loved it and so freshly made. I really liked this place and the service was fantastic. We even came the next night for more. We had to sit at the bar since the place was packed . no worries the service and food were still amazing. I totally recommend this authentic place. It is the bomb. read more

Stopped by Sicilian Butcher for the first time yesterday and found it be mediocre and a bit overpriced. My husband ordered the fazzoletti (stuffed with the ragu). It was like a big ravioli. It was pretty good but it was definitely under seasoned. Though tasty, I don't think it was worth its $27 price tag (even in Scottsdale). I ordered the "create your own" pasta. It was not good and looked sloppy. The dish was extremely dry with dry stuck together noodles. The Chef's "special sauce" (splashed on top on one side of the plate) lacked flavor and was too thin for the noodles. Do not select this sauce. Even when I asked for more sauce (which our amazing waitress happily provided), it still wasn't enough because the sauce has no substance to it and was just tomato chunks. It was not seasoned properly either. I ordered the steak meatballs because they were supposedly good. They tasted like ordinary frozen meatballs (the ones I don't buy from the grocery store). Maybe I was just unlucky that night. I like to try handcrafted mocktails and cocktails. The rosemary pomegranate one sounded amazing. It was good but not amazing. I didn't even finish it. The saving grace for me was our server who did a great job and the made the experience very pleasant despite my disappointment with my dish. Also the atmosphere was fun and lively and people were enjoying themselves. The outdoor seating looked nice but overlooks a parking lot. It's easy for Italian to be underwhelming when mass marketed and that's what I felt here. I probably made a mistake going with the create your own dish. read more

We always enjoy Sicilian Butcher! It's great Italian food. The restaurant is casual with a modern feel. I like Flora's salad, the Pane Cunzatu (Sicilian-style Bruschetta) they have lots of topping options, and the craft meatball, sauce, & pasta is awesome! I love how you get to pick your meatball, sauce, and pasta so it can be different every time. Last time I did the eggplant parmigiana meatballs, truffle mushroom sauce, and pappardelle pasta. I also enjoy their calamari steak parmigiano dish. They have fantastic Cannolis for dessert, Sicilian Baker is right next door! They also have a great happy hour in the bar area! You can get a bottle of wine and board for $19. They have a few different Sicilian tapas on their happy hour menu. We like the Margarita Pizzetta for $8. They have a great outdoor patio when the weather is nice! The restaurant does get loud when it's busy but it's loud in the lively, Italian energy kind of way. Hubby and I went to visit our daughter in Arizona and we went to the Sicilian Butcher's for dinner. Parking was easy. Although the place looked busy, we were seated quickly in the patio area. The weather was beautiful! I had chicken parmesan, a side of pasta, and a cocktail. Other people in our party had pasta and salads. Service was fast, food was delicious. The energy at The Sicilian Butcher was lively-wonderful for a nice meal. This is a restaurant I would definitely like to come back to. I heard from a good source that the meatballs are a great happy hour item, so that will be on the menu for me. read more
