Frickin Netflix... Yeah, we noticed this restaurant because of Chris Bianco's episode of ChefsTable Pizza series, and we bookmarked it for a special occasion. We came in with too high an expectation, or maybe we had appropriate expectations that should have been met. Either way, its a one-and-done. The Chicken Liver appetizer was tasty and a delicacy, but the ratio of liver to bread was a bit high for our palettes. The Limoncello Negroni was tasty but stronger than we anticipated. The fettucini al limone had some spice due to the chili flakes. Fresh pasta in a delightful sauce. We did appreciate the NY strip, whatever seasonings the chef used made the crust fantastic. And the single quartered russet potato with cheese shavings and rosemary paired well with the steak, but the price point was well outside the experience. And based on our waitress' reaction, we can safely assume that chef Bianco doesn't often make an appearance. We had an incredible dinner at Tratto! The server took care of us throughout, as well as a number of people who took plates, brought food and checked on us. We never felt ignored. The place was super cute, yet spacious compared to many trattorias. The kitchen was open to the beautiful bar area. The tables, chairs and decor felt like I was eating at my grandma's house, in the best way possible. It set the tone for a delicious meal. We started with some drinks. I got the Prosecco by the glass, which was perfectly chilled, bubbly and slightly sweet. My companions ordered a New York sour, which came was a little outline of New York in the foam, and the Negroni. We also got the focaccia with whipped feta and honey. The focaccia was so buttery, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If we weren't ordering a ton of other food, I could just eat that as a meal. For the table, we got three pastas -- ravioli, bucatini amatriana and the cacio e peppe. All pastas were cooked perfectly al dente with perfectly paired sauces. My favorite was the cacio e peppe. The pecorino gave it a creamy yet nutty flavor, perfectly balanced by a little spice from the black pepper. For our protein, we got a small order of the pork chops with apples and a creamy sauce. I didn't have much room from the pastas, but from the bites I had, the pork chops were cooked well, despite being thin, and the sauce added some extra moisture and dimension. It was a tad salty, but it worked with the apples. For desert, we split the sticky toffee pudding. It was dense and sweet and I have nothing bad to say about it! We also ordered a bottle of wine for our meal and were impressed by the selection. There was a good variety Italian reds from light to heavier bodied. Love Pizzeria Bianco and Bar Bianco, and now they've got that Chef's Table hype. So I was extra excited to finally try Tratto. The appetizers were great, but the pastas, which is what you come for, were overseasoned and undercooked - definitely under al dente (coming from someone that lived in Italy for a bit). The cacio e pepe was way too salty, and I needed 4 of the tiny glasses of water they serve you to counter 1/2 of it. The fettucine al limone was so greasy and swimming in oil, it made my stomach hurt just looking at it. We could barely taste lemon, the chili flakes were so overpowering (and we love spicy foods). The cocktail was watered down, and everything was overpriced - especially given the area. Terrible location, did not feel safe parking, and did not want to valet out front. Celebrating my Dad's birthday and Italian was his choice. Several years ago we had a very nice meal at Tratto and elected to return. Reservations are a must and the stand alone builing is old with a cool/ simple vibe. The old tin ceilings tiles and simple decor add a nice ambiance. It feels like a good Italian meal awaits. We started with an order of garlic focaccia bread with EVOO that was very tasty, especially the top garlicy crust layer. The waiter brought us cool watermelon cubes with aleppo pepper and salt garnish. It was simple, refreshing and great punch in the mouth. We will be stealing this idea. GREAT JOB! The seared chicken livers, fig jam, and rosemary on a grilled piece of sourdough bread was great. The California stone fruit salad with tumeric, mint marinated cucumbers, burrata and pistachios was amazing. Again, another crunchy and delicious tasting, light summer salad that will completely shock you. Each bite has a unique flavor profile and should be on your must have list. The buccatini all amatriciani with guanciale, and pecorino romano was good, but a bit salty. Our final dish was the fettuccine al limone with garlic, butter and parmigiano reggiano. Another good meal, but not memorable. The wait staff was a bit aloof, removing plates while some of us were still eating and a bit pushy to get us paid and out the door. We were early diners and the place was busy but not packed. I think Tratto is one of the better Italian restaurants in the Valley. Creative meals, good portions, different tasty flavors, innovative, but the staff needs to learn to read the table. I don't know man...Back in the mid 2000's when Pizzeria Bianco was named the best Pizza in the Nation, I tried several of their locations...I don't get it. We railed from midtown & walked...with my gray hair, I felt like I was taking my life in to my hands. We enjoyed the old location as a refreshing break from the endless chain restaurants in metro Phoenix, but after this visit, we won't be back. Even at half capacity on a Wednesday at 5:30, the noise was overwhelming. We asked to be moved to a quieter area, which helped, but I can only imagine how loud it gets when full. The food was the real letdown. The gem salad was just okay, until we hit large flakes of salt that made it unpleasant and overly salty. The cacio e pepe was also very salty with a strange aftertaste. The pork chops were small and lacked flavor. The broccolini was nicely charred, but the sauce didn't work. We decided to cut our losses and skipped dessert. Service was good, and I wish we had said something after the salad, but we assumed the rest would be better. It wasn't. There are a handful of restaurants in the Metro area that we love going for special occasions. Not that we don't go to these places for just everyday life occasions, but we especially go to these Chefs because of the not only their incredible skills but also their humanity. They are family to us! As part of my Birthday Tour which typically lasts for a month, we had to start with the chicken livers and the gem lettuce salad. Next the pasta course .. tortellini and then the special salmon with a citrus honey spicy glaze! We were surprised by birthday cake but we added panna cotta and an espresso and cappuccino to our feast. I even had the pleasure of meeting the man himself at his weekend takeover of Che Fico in San Francisco--a master at work, radiating passion and humility. So when my wife and I visited my sister and brother-in-law over the 4th of July weekend, Tratto was non-negotiable. And it was, without question, the most soul-stirring meal we've had in years. Let's talk about the food. We ordered like we meant it--family style, like the Bianco spirit demands. 1. California Stone Fruit * Turmeric & Mint Marinated Cucumber * Burrata * Pistachio. This was sunshine and texture in every bite. The stone fruit was perfectly ripe, the cucumber added a bright, spiced crunch, and the burrata? Dreamy. Creamy. Cooling. The pistachio added just the right toasty snap. A dish so fresh, it felt alive. 2. Bucatini all'Amatriciana * Guanciale * Pecorino Romano. Bold and deeply satisfying. The guanciale was salty and crisp, the tomato sauce intense and just fiery enough, and the bucatini captured it all like a sponge with perfect bite. The Pecorino Romano tied it together with its salty tang. Classic, but never basic. 3. Fettuccine al Limone * Garlic * Butter * Parmigiano Reggiano. Bright, elegant, and deceptively simple. This dish whispered flavor instead of shouting. The garlic was soft and fragrant, the butter and cheese made it luscious, and the lemon added that sharp, clean edge that lifted every bite. My wife and I kept glancing at each other like, How is this so good? 4. Polenta. Silky, golden, and soul-warming. Like someone cooked you comfort in a bowl. A perfect canvas between courses, grounding everything else with its quiet perfection. 5. Wood-Roasted Mushrooms * Lemon * Thyme. Earthy and aromatic, kissed by smoke and char. The lemon and thyme added brightness and complexity, but the star here was the incredible meaty texture. These mushrooms could convert a carnivore. 6. Fig Leaf-Wrapped Halibut * Heirloom Tomato * Colatura * Herb Salad. A show-stopper. The halibut was buttery and perfectly cooked, delicately perfumed by the fig leaf. The heirloom tomatoes burst with sweet acidity, and the colatura (that beautiful Italian fish sauce) gave the dish a subtle anchoring depth. The herb salad added freshness that brought the whole plate into perfect balance. 7. Chocolate Cherry Cake. Dense, dark, and decadent--but never too heavy. The cherries gave it a juicy brightness that made it feel indulgent and summery all at once. The ideal finale--and the very best cake I've ever had in my life. The atmosphere: Warm, intimate, unpretentious--but with a quiet confidence. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, proud of what they were serving, and rightly so. A bizarre location for such a high end restaurant. The interior is beautiful. It felt like a movie set. Vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, open kitchen concept. The menu concept is family style Italian and the menu is divided into 3 subcategories. We ordered the focaccia with whipped ricotta to start. Nailed it. 5 stars. We then shared 2 of the 3 pasta dishes available. Amazing. What was underwhelming were the expensive pork and chicken dishes. Our group consisted of 4 people. Imagine being so full of yourself that you mock the elderly for being cold in your restaurant. Note: This happened in January when it was colder in Phoenix. I wasn't going to say anything about this experience until big shot Chris Bianco decided to disrespect my elderly parents over our request to shut the garage wall that made the very expensive dining experience unpleasant in 43 degree weather. The first time I went to this restaurant was a year ago in the winter time with three other people, and we had an excellent experience, great food, and great atmosphere. There were no open windows. We weren't freezing at our table and it was a lovely dining experience on par with the cost. The second time I visited the restaurant was in the summer, again perfect temperature. Great experience. So I was assuming the 3rd experience would be better. My parents are big fans of Jimmy Kimmel and really enjoy Chris Bianca's other pizza restaurants so I thought it would be fun to take them to Tratto. We were surprised when we came in and it was freezing inside the restaurant. My parents are in their 80s and are extra sensitive to cold and unpleasant temperatures while dining, especially when dropping $100 a plate. So we asked the waitress if they could shut the giant garage window that was creating cold drafts throughout the restaurant. And she said they keep it open for the pizza ovens. I explained that I was here in the winter last year, and the window was not open and that we were cold. We were ignored, nothing was done. After that, I thought to myself well we will only be dining here in the summer. Well, apparently our complaint got back to Chris Bianco.. the owner. As we were ending our dinner and starting dessert we noticed other patrons putting their jackets on due to the cold. So we put ours on too.. as we were cold. At that point Bianco came over and talked to the table behind us and made a purposely very loud obnoxious comment to them, but directed at us, Mocking us for wearing our jackets inside while we were eating dinner when it was 60° outside. Well actually, Chris , it may have been 60 degrees at 4pm, but by 8pm it was 48 degrees and by the time we left it was 43° outside. Not actually open window weather for a fine dining experience. Number one, I was shocked the owner of the restaurant would mock his own customers so they could hear it and number two, both my parents are in their 80's and my fathers walker was propped up behind him. So he's mocking handicapped seniors. What a nice guy!! We are from New Jersey, and have been to many fantastic Italian restaurants from Trenton, NJ to New York City to San Francisco and Los Angeles. I can tell you that none of those restaurants ever treated their customers with such disrespect, as famous big shot Chris Bianco. To come over and actually mock the elderly for asking to be comfortable during their very expensive dining experience is beyond the pale. Victor was a great server and menu navigator. Some Yelp reviews have been critical of Tratto's portion sizes and price points. Those were not issues for our dining group. We started with the Market Salad (Arugula, Frisee and Apples), Focaccia and the Seared Chicken Livers (with Plum Jam and Fried Rosemary) from the Antipasti menu. From the Primi section, the superb Rigatoni (with Spicy Pork Ragu) and from the secret menu, the signature Cacio E Pepe (made with pasta water, pepper and cheese). What a great experience! We went on a Friday night with an 8pm reservation and were seated at our favorite seats at the bar. Kaitlin crafted perfect cocktails for us; the best Manhattan my wife had enjoyed in a long time and the perfect Martini for me. We split the gem lettuce salad, agnolotti and fettuccini with mushrooms. Utterly delicious. Ash made the entree suggestions and she also picked an excellent wine. Aly helped with everything as well, and Erin not only runs a tight ship, but is the perfect hostess. The ladies all made us feel very special and took great care of us. Tratto was a total disappointment. The only good dish that we had was the pasta with pecorino Romano cheese. The appetizer chicken liver dish was delivered on burnt ...not just toasted...but burnt toast. No one checked on it when it was dropped off or within a few minutes following. I've been a fan of the marvel that is Chef Chris Bianco for some time now. My friend was able to get us a reservation for the bar, before we headed over to the Footprint Center. We arrived just before six and were taken straight to our seats. The restaurant isn't all that big, which I liked because it provides an intimate vibe. The bartender was super friendly and provided such wonderful service. My friend and I decided to split some plates and as you can tell in the photos below, we had a decent variety. Mamma Mia! If I could eat one dish for the rest of my life, it would hands down be the gnocchi. I think I teared up a bit because it was that good. I had to try my hardest not to devour the entire serving, because I was supposed to be splitting this with my friend. Order this dish! Chef's kiss! I will most definitely be back and highly recommend making a reservation well in advance, as there's limited seating. Very close to the Footprint Center and they offer complimentary valet. Came to try this based on previous reviews and reputation of Chris Bianco for his pizza. Unfortunately I have not been able to go to pizzeria Bianco because it is far from my house and always quite busy. I chose to get a reservation here because it's easier for my family with my kids to have a definite reservation rather than waiting especially when we don't know how long the week could be. My kids are big fans of pasta restaurants and frequent several of the more famous ones in San Francisco. They thought the Pomodoro was just OK. I thought the grouper was castlevetrano olives was excellent, but did not come with a side dish. I had the pansotti pasta with Fava beans and I thought the portion was rather small. I am assuming because this is meant to be a prelude to the main course. The chocolate budino was good but not as thick as some of the ones I've had at other places. Service was good and quick. they had a nice selection of wines and local beer. The location is very sketchy. It is not in a good neighborhood and not close to anything like it. They did have valet parking which was appreciated since I would've felt uncomfortable leaving my car. I would like to give it 4 1/2 stars because I think it could make some improvements, but we would definitely come back. read more

The offerings at Tratto are elevated and refined, and the menu isn't posted because it is always being changed. We ordered the agnolotti, a red pasta, pork tenderloin I believe and chicken liver. The agnolotti was creamy and rich, the chicken liver had all the components that made it perfect with a little bit of sweetness, the pork had a beautiful marinade and char with the perfect amount of acidity. Fantastic! Fabulous! Fanatical...that I will become for this place. Party of six, we had some cocktails before seated, surrounded in this beautiful & boutique place. [Erin] was one of the four awesome waitresses, services some tasty cocktails, transitioning to dinner table. Great selections of wine, with nice emphasis on Italian wines. Absolutely right on the dot with pastas (4 of them -- one was off the menu -- you ask & try out). Also, the antipasta = salads are must have. Two secondi = Chicken and Pork -- delicious . Contorni = squash and parsnip were well paired. Wines = We stick with Italian wines = vermentino (white), Frappato Occhipinti 20', and Brunello Di Montalcino 2017 Capprili. Had a good experience here. Love the menu, service, and food. The atmosphere is amazing and it's centrally located close to downtown.

We went to Tratto after hearing about Chris Bianco's pasta concept for Pizzeria Bianco and we absolutely loved this place! Getting a reservation here was a bit difficult given its popularity, and we had to book 3 weeks out for a Thursday night 8 PM dinner reservation. The ambience inside is perfect for those wanting a vibrant yet intimate date night. For appetizers, we ordered the Farinata (an absolute must!) with fresh bread and olive oil. We spoke with the wine sommelier who recommended us a fantastic Italian red to pair with our selections. For entrees, we ordered their signature homemade pastas and got the Linguine with spicy pork sausage and off the menu pasta pomodoro which were both fantastic and fresh. One thing to remember is that they always change the menu and be sure to ask for off the menu pasta selections too in case you want more options. We also got the Grilled Piccolo chicken which was perfect to match with our pastas. Overall, this is our favorite Italian experience in downtown PHX and we will definitely be coming back again! read more
