Sunny's may not have the recognition as a cocktail bar but I need to say this - these are the most inventive and creative cocktails in the valley. The Oaxaca Asada- perfectly savory and balanced- wow. Pornstar Highball- crushable- all the flavors of a pornstar martini but so delicious and more approachable. Monsoon Season- spicy clarified mai tai- loved that you could specify the spice level. Garrett and Kenzey went above and beyond with service. I also got to try the strawberry fernet and Anna's play on a daiquiri and her exquisite bramble shot. Everything was thoughtful- balanced and above and beyond in the flavor department. It's nice to see this bar crank on a busy Saturday. I cannot wait to be back and try more cocktails. Truly pushing the boundaries and the cocktails truly were the best I have tried in the past two years in Phoenix. Keep it up Sunny's - I will be back ASAP. read more

Stopped by with some friends at Sunny's for cocktails awhile ago! We enjoyed the dive bar feel with the upscale, elevated cocktails. They do classic cocktails with an elevated twist (I opted for an amaretto sour). Everything we had was incredible, and the hot dogs my friend ordered for the table were massive, haha. Service is friendly and everyone was very informed and honest about the taste of drinks! I appreciated that as I'm a sweet drink enjoyer- the bartender steered me in the right direction. Wow! What a hidden gem?!?! Dive bar vibes meets craft cocktails like from Platform 18...make it make sense! I googled "bars in or around Arcadia" and this gem popped up and I am so glad we checked this place out! We will most definitely be back. We had to check twice that we ended up in the right spot as it looks so inconspicuous from the outside but don't let it fool you. This place slaps if you're a cocktail connoisseur. Don't forget to pull up their secret menu. Their bartender was legit--the type of guy that could make any cocktail based on what spirit you like--which is phenomenal. I received an email from Undertow with a highlight for 'Christmas in July' at Sunny's. I honestly didn't even know that Sunny's existed before I saw the email. And to be honest, I thought the email was saying the Christmas in July event was happening at Undertow. I love Undertow so I was in! When I finally put two and two together, I figured I would just give Sunny's a shot and check out there Santa specials. I really loved all the Christmas lights and ornaments hanging from the ceiling. The energy inside was amazing. It was a little bit more on the 'dive' side than I prefer when I'm going to grab a cocktail. But as other reviewers have mentioned, it has a homey feel. We opted to stand at the high top near the pool table and the folks playing pool kept almost knocking our drinks and water over with the backside of their cues. I probably wouldn't Sit/stand there again. The Christmas in July menu was cute and fun. The drink I selected was a on the sweet side and I didn't love that. After attending a concert, I was looking for a bar to make a pit stop at for a drink on my way home. Sunny's Lounge was in the area, and I had passed by it before, so I decided to stop by on a Saturday night. They have a small parking lot and I was able to find a spot. If you can't find a spot, you can park for free on a side stret. Ambiance (4/5): Dive-ish is a nice way to put it. Small. But also homey and cool. There's a pool table in the corner with some seating that surrounds it. Plus some seating at the bar. Service (5/5): Friendly and attentive service. Which goes a long way. I was greeted promptly, the bartender answered my questions, and he was friendly. Everything I look for at a bar. Food (N/A): I had dinner earlier that night, so I was on a liquid diet, but Sunny's does have a limited menu mainly consisting of snacks and hot dogs. While I didn't try any of the food, there is some creativity with their food options, so I'd like to give them a try next time around. Drinks (4.5/5): While Sunny's is dive-ish, they are known for their cocktails. And they have an interesting list of creative craft cocktails to choose from. Including some tiki drinks that seem to be a collaboration with Undertow, a nearby tiki bar. Perhaps they're owned by the same people? Either way, I liked it. There's sophistication in their cocktails, which I'm always a fan of. Sunny's is a cool spot. My preference would be to go on a weekday, because if you're trying to play pool, one pool table is not enough when there's a crowd. read more

Had a blast at Sunny's Black Lagoon Halloween pop-up. Sunny's is always a good time, but the seasonal concept takes it up a notch with spooky decor and themed drinks. The Black Lagoon menu has a range of drink options, including three mocktails, which is great for people who want to experience the pop-up but don't want to drink. We went for the Halloween pop up and honestly it was great! Not too loud, fun crowd, bartenders were fast and attentive, and Anna was just the sweetest! The seasonal drinks were decent, but their classics are the fan favorite for us. There is a pool table as well and some table seating and decent enough parking. This place was fun! I came here for the Halloween pop-up experience by Black Lagoon. I arrived around 730p on a Thursday and it was very packed, no where to sit. But the staff working were all very friendly and still came around to take our order. There was a podcast group there that night recording a podcast (which may explain why it was so busy). My friend and I each ordered a drink. I don't remember what they were, but we liked them. Some of the glasses were for sale and I purchase one that looked like a dragon. What I loved: You might just want to skip straight to their selection of infused fernet. I've had some twists on the herbal spirit before, but Sunny's does it best. Great bar with awesome drinks and awesome staff. We have been here a few times and have always had a great experience. They have a small patio and many tables inside. It's not super big but feels like a good size. Tons of drink options. They also have a pool table inside. Our friends have been here more often and they always speak fondly of it. Sunny's Lounge is so underrated! My family was looking for a fun bar to add to our Christmas bar crawl and Sunny's was at the top of our list. This is a small, intimate dive bar located in between Camelback East Village and the Biltmore Area. Since it's around the holidays, they have decked out the entire inside of the bar with festive decor and fun photo ops. I personally loved the line up of Christmas cocktails- we tried the following cocktails during our visit: "Let It Snow", "Twig and Berries", and the "Cold Apple Pie". All were solid 10/10s-seriously they were incredible. What I was pleasantly surprised by was that Sunny's didn't overcharge for drinks simply because it was on the holiday menu, we never paid more than $15 and the quality was absolutely worth the price. The staff were so kind and friendly and quick to offer up a recommendation and their speed of service was quick. I can't wait to come back for our next holiday bar crawl! read more

At first I loved this place until the one bartender working on a Friday night showed to be rude and treated the rest just fine. Unfortunately we were the only people of color in there too so that made it apparent. He began to argue with us after I noticed the rude treatment and I kindly asked for my refund so we could leave. Went for the Black Lagoon pop-up, place is smaller than expected, with less immersive decorations than I was expecting. However, there was some nice little touches considering the small space, such as movie on vintage TV, skeletons here and there. We did enjoy the playlist and have played it on Spotify during Halloween time. The service was also good, enjoyed our waiter. The themed drinks were ok, not as good as other places. A friend took me to this place on a weekday and LOVED the place. It was on my mind often because the cocktails were delicious so I couldn't wait to come back. I decided to take a date here and drinks were great, service started great... until it wasn't. First thing I noticed they took the menu after the third drink they served us. Thought that was interesting. 'My date and I joked, "oh they must think we are over served." Mind you, no one had fallen, nothing was spilled. 2nd thing I noticed. Soon after, they ring us out and just say, "so how are we getting home guys?" No, "how is your night going?" "Is everything okay?" No eye contact at all and we told her Lyft. I'm thinking wow, are we doing something? We were in a good mood and vibing and it can come off more than it is. Regardless, the approach was not appreciated and I believe another direction was more appropriate. We finish our drinks and are just vibing. It was fun to let loose after a long week. We danced because they had good music and having an overall good time together not bothering anyone to my knowledge. We were the only ones dancing and there is an open area that looks like it's made to be danced in. If we were doing this at a sit down restaurant or even a speak easy, I can see that being weird. But this is a bar with a pool table and loud music. Then the server comes up to us again, and tells us "I think you should call that Lyft now." After an expensive bill, I still tipped 20% and my bill was $108 for 6 drinks and was polite to the staff. I am trans. I am a person of color. And I'm there with a white woman. So when you get treated with disrespect without any knowledge of what they are doing, it can unfortunately feel targeted even if it's not the intention. It's happened before and sadly, it will happen again. I'm very disappointed because I was having a good night and I was so excited to come back. I had told so many people about this place. As much as I love the drinks, I cannot say I will come back because I need a place I can feel comfortable to be myself without judgement or at least the respect to tell me what's wrong. read more

This is my new favourite bar. I want to be a regular here, which is not something I often say. There are so many places to try in Phoenix that it's hard for me to sit down and say "this is the One." But I'm committing. Drinks: I've tried 99% of the cocktails and I haven't gone broke. I think that basically sums up why I love this bar. The cocktails are unique, tasty, and inexpensive. The frozen strawberry chili margarita is on point. Ambiance: this used to be (still is?) one of the divier establishments, but from what I can tell, it's gotten a nice update, but kept the cozy laidback feel. I never know what time it is because it's so dark. Service: superb! The bartenders are the bomb. They're all super friendly and helpful. They want you to enjoy what you're drinking. read more
