The drive from Chandler to the Gladly is one that I will gladly do any day because the food here is scrumptious. The original chopped salad here is my favorite in the whole Phoenix area it's is the perfect pairing of flavors - I could eat this as a meal on its own. The salmon sweet corn and dressing together produce a combination that has you wanting more with each and every bite. The pan roasted halibut entree is also very well crafted with the toppings olive tapenade and brown butter polenta. Friendly staff, modern feel inside, and the food is good! I've been here multiple times and always get a warm welcome experience. The taco of the day, was so delicious! It should be on the menu all the time! The rice and beans pairs with it had a perfect amount of heat in it, my friend and I were in AWH! The steak salad was very light. The dressing or vinaigrette tied in all the flavors, the only thing we didn't like was the sweat potato chips in the salad. They were hard to eat, I get adding a crunch factor but maybe if they were smaller pieces or prepared a different way it would make a difference. I really like the atmosphere here and the service was outstanding! However, my salmon was overcooked and flavorless! The skin was crispy, which was nice, but the fish had zero flavor! I mean really, did the chef put any salt and pepper on the flesh side of the salmon or did he/she only season the skin side? Ambience was great. Service was great. Food was lacking. Salad was basic. Ordered the short ribs and expected a lot better. Outside of the meat was dry, bbq sauce was very acidic, sweet potato mash was weirdly mushy and had an odd flavor. Broccolini was boring. I can make much better short ribs in my instant pot at home. First time at The Gladly (and any of their In Good Spirits spots) and it was such a fun experience! We stopped in for AZ Restaurant Week and tried the three-course menu. Drinks: Strawberry Moon + Bourbon Zombie. Both super yummy and on the sweeter side. Course 1: Tuscan Kale Potato Soup was so flavorful, and my fave. The burrata was fine, just not super memorable. Course 2: Pork Chop + Coffee Rubbed Short Ribs. I'm not a pork chop fan, but my bf liked it. The short ribs stole the show!! Paired perfectly with the maple mashed sweet potato (which I did NOT want to share lol). Course 3: Chocolate Torte + Blueberry Bread Pudding. Both were good, but the bread pudding definitely won. The vibe was dark & moody with candles, lots of windows for daytime light, and a spacious patio. Parking was easy with validation, which is always a win. Service was kind but a little off, and the food took longer than expected, but worth the wait. Overall, I'd totally come back, especially for those short ribs and potatoes. read more

Seated us to our reservation quickly and got our drink order shortly thereafter. Quite a selection of alcohol and non based beverages. I believe it is part of a restaurant group but showed up as unique. The ambiance is cool. We ordered the Cobb salad, house salad, HH shrimp cocktail (ample) sea bass, salmon and the spicy shrimp. Everything was delicious and hot when served. The sauce on the spicy shrimp had some ancho flavor but not too hot. The Yukon gold mashed potatoes were amazingly creamy. The sea bass was tender and the creamy sauce enhanced the flavor. I could go on about the sourdough bread to start and everything in between, but I think you get it. Enjoy! read more

We had an amazing server who joked with us but also gave us some great recommendations and described every dish perfectly. The service and ambiance is perfect for any occasion from a birthday dinner to a fancy date night. To start we got the crudo which was very tender and topped with a delicious cucumber salad. I could've eaten multiple plates of this appetizer! The spinach dip was also the best I have ever had, I would go back just for this side. My herb crusted chicken was served on top of a Parmesan mushroom risotto that was rich but not too filling, perfect for a side with the chicken. Stopped by Gladly in Phoenix and was really impressed! The chopped salad was super unique and refreshing -- definitely not your typical salad. I tried it with smoked salmon, which was good, but in hindsight, I probably would've gone with chicken instead. The standout dish was the grilled chicken with mushroom risotto -- absolutely to die for. Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Easily the highlight of the night. The vibes throughout the evening were laid-back but classy, and the Thai margarita was the perfect cocktail to tie it all together. Just the right balance of sweet and spicy. I have used The Gladly for a couple of private events recently and have found it a spectacular place to work with me. They have a couple of different options for private settings and are very flexible with the menu that you pre-select for your meal. The price is reasonable and the service is excellent of course they have the ever famous salad but their cocktails are equally delicious and they are a lot of nice options on the menu. Well crafted menu with options of seafood, chicken, and beef. Each appetizer was a good portion, but the halibut ceviche was the clear winner. A perfect savory taste that I would order every time. We also had the noble bread, spinach artichoke dip, and shrimp. Our waitress recommended the salmon as her favorite. Three in my party ordered that and cleaned their plates in an instant, easily creating trust to order dessert. I had the short ribs, which came with a knife unneeded. They were tender and flavorful. The service was great all around. They staff acts a family with at least five or six helping make sure that our party of five was taken care of. We came in for an early dinner which happened to be within their happy hour times (yay)! We shared the pretzel board, popcorn, Brussels, and cocktail shrimp along with a few of the happy hour cocktails. The cocktails were great- although I wasn't in a drinking mood. The Brussels and the shrimp cocktail were definitely the star of the show! I was super stuffed after those items that I skipped the entree portion and we went straight to share the Reese ice cream cake, chocolate torte and cookies. To be honest none of those desserts really did it for me but I'm not a fan of Reese's and the chocolate torte seemed to have notes of banana and coconut which I would have been happy without. As a food critic from Chicagoland area-- The Gladly | Phoenix's Biltmore neighborhood Overall, it was fine. Not bad, just not memorable. The space is pleasant enough, but nothing about the atmosphere truly stood out or justified the reputation. The burrata was a miss, especially at $20. Nearly flavorless, and the portioning made it worse. A large piece of burrata was served with just two slices of bread for two people. Realistically, you need at least four slices to enjoy the appetizer properly. Running out of bread halfway through a dish breaks the flow and feels careless at this price point. The steak was good in flavor but came out undercooked compared to the temperature requested. While it was corrected, the delay meant waiting while the rest of the table moved on. The issue was handled operationally, but not proactively from a hospitality standpoint. No acknowledgment was offered until it was brought up later, which felt like a miss. Service otherwise was attentive and kind, and our server did a solid job throughout. Dessert was the highlight. An ice cream cake is a rarity these days, and it delivered. Rich, nostalgic, and genuinely enjoyable. Easily the best part of the meal and worth noting. Cocktails were where things really fell short for me. The espresso martini was on draft and made with cold brew, not even real espresso. This is a hard no. Any martini or cocktail that is pre mixed loses freshness and intention. An espresso martini should involve a freshly pulled shot and a proper shake. Draft versions simply do not deliver the same experience. To their credit, the manager did step in and provided a $25 gift card for their restaurant group, which was appreciated. Still, the overall experience felt reactive rather than instinctively hospitable. In a market as competitive as the Valley, this one does not rise above the pack. Not bad, just not special, and ultimately not a place I feel compelled to return to. SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS The Gladly 2201 E Camelback Road Phoenix, 85016 As I have done before, we ate at the Gladly as part of Restaurant Week. Our reservation was for 5:30 but traffic was a major problem and we showed up at 5:45. Even though they were crowded, they still honored the reservation and seated us immediately. I started off with a Virgin Cosmo which was different from any Cosmo I have ever had but was delicious. I got the recipe from the bartender and will try to make it in the future. Companion had a Virgin Strawberry Margarita which was excellent. We decided to order off the Restaurant Week menu. In keeping with being a bit confusing I ordered the Caramelized Peach Salad, which as far as I could tell had no peach in it but was a terrific salad with a citrus dressing. I cleaned my plate!. Companion had the Chopped Salad which is an Icon of the State of Arizona. Companion loved it. For the main course I ordered the Scottish Salmon. I asked for it to be rare as I prefer my fish that way and it was cooked to perfection. It came with nicely roasted Brussel sprouts and a lovely saffron sauce. Companion ordered the Sakura Pork Chop which was nicely cooked, but seemed to be lacking in seasoning. Both mains came with Yukon Gold mash which actually had small pieces of real potato in it. A rather novel concept when so many places keep them pureed and you can't tell if they are real or from a commissary bag. Dessert was a shared Blueberry compote bread pudding with a ball of ice cream on top. It was decadent and I probably shouldn't have eaten as much as I did, but it was hard to stop. Cleanliness was apparent and service was adequate. Because of the hard surfaces, the place was noisier than most, and the next time I will probably opt to eat on the outside porch which is much quieter. Large covered outside dining or you can sit in the upscale indoor dining space. Was looking forward to trying the Cactus Cubana, however, missed the fine print that said it is only served Friday and Saturday. Server recommended a ham and cheese that had a cactus aioli. I ordered Brussel sprouts as a side. Food was good, service was excellent. Hard to rate the food based upon one ham sandwich. Definitely will be back. read more

I don't know what it is about it, but the sweetness with salty with all the ingredients just make it absolutely delicious. We went during restaurant week. They have two options $44 and $55, 3 course meal. Service was great. The Chopped salad was a winner. I never had smoked salmon with my chopped salad. It had right crunchy bits with sweet nuggets. Just what you want in a salad. We had the short rib on the $55 menu and my companion had the salmon on the $44 menu. Both were good, however, we both were baffled by the sauces. It was sad because the proteins were cooked perfectly on the dishes, but the sauces could have been better. The desserts were good. I met a couple of colleagues here last night for dinner and it was a great experience. I've been here before and sat outside and remembered then the food was good. Tonight, we were seated about 5min before 6pm and the waitress was so very nice to let us put in some HH orders before 6pm. We ordered the fondue, shrimp cocktail and Brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts were delicious and my colleagues both killed the shrimp cocktail and fondue, so I take that as a good sign. We then ordered a few more items to share including their tuna crudo and chopped salad and both were fantastic! This place is classy and swarming with people, loved the very adult ambiance of this place. Staff were friendly, helpful, attentive and welcoming. If you park in the lost behind the restaurant, they will validate your ticket and you can come in from the back. I also spied a beautiful bar that's open and welcoming. The Gladly has a great happy hour. The drink deals are solid and the vibe is classy but relaxed. I had the Thai Margarita and while it was a little more sour than I expected, a splash of water toned it down perfectly and I still enjoyed it. Now let's talk about the chopped salad. I don't say this lightly, it's my all-time favorite salad. Everything is fresh, perfectly balanced, and that buttermilk herb dressing is magic. If I could only eat one salad forever, it would be this one. We tried the shrimp too, but I'd probably skip it next time. The atmosphere is very nice and open. We went around early evening around happy hour time. Our server was very attentive. As the starter, we got the cutino sweet heat wings which had a good flavor profile and were nicely cooked. It was also nice and steamy when we got it. The pesto dressing is good but does have more of a ranch flavor to it. For the main course, we ordered the herb roasted chicken and the wester Ross Scottish salmon. The salmon was delicious through and through with an amazing crunchy skin. To finish off dinner, we had a blood orange sorbet which was also good.
