They have an amazing patio here with misters and fans. So if you feel the need to eat outside even in 104 degrees, it can happen here! I wanted to order the bucatini, but when I asked the waiter if it was spicy, he replied with a 7/10. So, after reading the description for the radiatore, I thought I would not have to worry, but I had just ordered a spicy dish (easily 6/10). My cousin also ordered it and could not eat it as the spice level was too high for her too. I'm disappointed that the waiter did not mention the spice level of the radiatore when I'd just told him that I didn't want anything spicy! In looking back, I should have just sent it back or at least asked what was in it that would create the heat for both of us and I'm not talking about the outside heat (that was fine). Got dinner from here with friends this week. For 6PM on a Thursday night it was not busy at all. Nice mix of casual and dressed up, between the outdoor and indoor seating. Like some other reviews, with it not being busy at all, the staff was very attentive, almost a little too attentive with trying to clear plates when we were still eating, but that's not a real complaint. Onto the food, 10/10, most interesting and scrumptious food I've enjoyed in a while! The Dry Aged Beef Carpaccio was DELICIOUS, I easily ate it by myself. For an entree I got the Chitarra Clam Pasta, it had a really delicious light white sauce, and it was a delight to eat. The pasta itself was cooked well, the clams seemed fine, and the flavors were great. For dessert, two of us split the Brown Butter Cake, and because there was no menu we didn't realize it would be $17, but in the end it was worth it. The cake was topped with ice cream and there was caramel drizzled across the dish, really delicious and more impressive than I would've expected. Went here for a group dinner with business associates. It was a celebratory meal to thank the team for their hard work. This restaurant 100% delivered on this experience! Everyone loved their meals. Even my colleague who was skeptical ordering seafood in the desert loved her shrimp pasta entree. My bucatini was simple yet exquisite. Fresh and flavorful ingredients. Our server John was the best! I had the market fish, which happened to be salmon that evening. I really enjoyed this dish with came with an apple "hash" of some sort which brightened the flavor profile. To get here, they have some designated parking spots right by the side entrance of the restaurant or street parking all around the area. They have a spacious setup with seating outdoors and indoors. Wifey and I stopped by for brunch with a reservation. For their menu, they have a solid selection of different uniquely crafted dishes to choose from. The small plates were excellent and were my favorite items of the evening. I typically don't order cauliflower or beets, but the cauliflower ended up being my top choice, and surprisingly, I enjoyed the beets as well. The pasta dishes were tasty, and the portion sizes were great. The market fish of the night was salmon, which was a bit disappointing to me. For an "elevated dining" experience, I was hoping for a more exciting fish option. I often eat salmon at home, so I prefer trying different fish when dining out. Needless to say, it was my least favorite dish. Although the fish was cooked well, I didn't love the papaya salad paired with the curry. It also took the longest to arrive, and we were almost finished with the other entrees by the time the salmon papaya salad finally made it to our table. Overall, an OK experience. We had a wow experience for our anniversary at Ocotillo! We probably didn't need to have a reservation at 5pm on a Wednesday but we did, and were seated immediately in a quiet dining room with only a couple of tables occupied. In better weather I would love to enjoy the patio, an expansive and lushly furnished huge space. But we were here for happy hour and we ordered a bunch of dishes to share! We started with a beer and a seasonal white sangria, keeping it light. My appetizer was the HH smoked beets, with a luscious whipped ricotta and pecans. Although they didn't taste very smoky, the red and yellow beets were gorgeous and the ricotta very rich. The arugula garnish was just right. I loved this dish! Husband started with the HH arugula salad, lots of breadcrumbs here with Parmesan and a vinaigrette. Tasty but not special. He also ordered the HH wings as well, which we split. The wings are three full 3 piece sections of whole wings, crispy and savory with a peanutty sauce. We were thrilled by the flavor of the wings! The accompanying jerk potatoes were spicy, caramelized and really amazing! Hard to see the I tried the HH brussel sprouts with poached pears, and found the dish completely underwhelming. Too large Brussels sprouts, neither crispy nor soft with very little seasoning. This dish was a miss. I ate the pears and left the rest. Finally, the HH Ocotillo chicken was a generous portion with a warm potato salad under a tender roasted breast. We shared this dish and it was great comfort food! Our server was so excited to learn marriage tips from a couple together 37 years, she wouldn't let us order dessert. My family and I decided to try Ocotillo for Arizona Restaurant Week, and so happy we did. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, driven by a couple times, and so glad it finally happened. Upon arrival, the restaurant has this fantastic outdoor space. Definitely such a great place for group events, and big parties for sure. Although this outdoor area was great, we chose to sit indoors because it was a bit warm out. We were greeted and sat almost immediately, with our waitress welcoming us promptly as well. The only downside was that despite the service being excellent, and the restaurant being beautiful, it was quite loud from the other patrons, and having the patio doors propped open allowed for flies to enter the dining space. Which for the record, was awful, but it was quite the nuisance especially for my parents. That being said, the food was very good. I decided to start with the Ahi Tuna and went with the Grilled Octopus as my entree. The Ahi was PHENOMENAL!! The sesame sauce with the crunchy rice, was such a delight. As for the Octopus, let me start with saying that I have never had grilled octopus before. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and be more adventurous, and I am so glad that I did. It was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. It had a smokiness to it, along with such a tender bite to it. Ocotillo has been on my list for awhile, so was so stoked for the opportunity to give them a visit recently! We were able to walk right in on a Monday evening and our group of three was promptly seated. I had made a reservation on the way there, just in case, but did not seem needed. The outside space is beautiful and boasts lighting all over the property. Though it was a tad chilly so we opted for the indoor dining room. We were greeted twice by two seperate servers that they would be our server and asking for our drink order, so bit of a disconnect at the beginning, but many places have a team approach, though we had only one moving forward. We went the family style route and ordered the tuna, OG cauliflower and beet small plates, followed by the shrimp ravioli, daily fish and chitarra. Before ordering we asked the server her opinion to help us narrow down the list as well as confirming menu items that did not have meat. She was not super decisive nor guided us regarding the menu and did say anything regarding our final order. The first course of small plates was lovely and everything tasted fresh and had great flavors. We had ordered bread, which was forgotten, but after ordering pasta we were fine doing without and didn't mention it. Two of the main dishes came out, both pastas, but the main fish dish did not for about another 10-15 minutes. It turned out one of the pasta dish we had included a pork fat based sauce/butter, which after inquiring on meat, would have been nice had it been mentioned. Thus the pasta was not able to be enjoyed by the full table. All the items were flavorful and fresh, but the overall service and disconnet on meal timing left a less than stellar experience overall. We also did make note in our reservation that we would be celebrating a birthday, which seemed to not be communicated and the server asked at the end of the meal if we wanted dessert or were celebrating anything, which we communicated we were celebrating a birthday. She then did bring out a complimentary dessert. At this time they only offered a single item, which was their brown butter cake with dulce de leche and strawberries, but with no candle as they were out. It was unique, not standout, but tasty! What a beautiful restaurant and perfect choice for our book club discussion this month! This restaurant is huge and 75% of it is patio space that is surrounded by mature mesquite trees. They have definitely utilized their outdoor space and have big picnic tables set up for large parties, smaller tables as well as several sections of comfortable seating if you just want to chill, chat and have some drinks. We did have a reservation for 10:30am on Sunday, but it wasn't needed. We were seated inside but they have the big doors that's open to the patios so even being indoors kinda feels like you are outdoors. The decor is clean and modern. They had gorgeous pictures of AZ hung up, which just added to the outside feel. Anyway on to the food. We ordered a few appetizers for the table: Eggplant Meatballs (order them!!), Ahi Tuna (order it!!) and the churros (good but basic). For my entree I chose the Ocotillo Breakfast that came with avocado toast, eggs and what I thought was cornbread but turned out to be the most delicious fried mashed potatoes they called a Hash Cake. This place has gone significantly downhill compared to prior visits. Our waitress seemed extremely miserable to be taking care of us and made several uncomfortable comments about any of our asks. She was the wrong person to be working during a Father's Day brunch where the service is typically elevated. The food used to be flavorful but the Ocotillo chicken was chewy and flavorless, the wings were brought out completely soggy with no crisp, and the gem salad was bland with no memorable ingredients aside from an abundance of dates. The table was wobbley and noticed the ones next to us were as well so we dealt with it. My boyfriend and I ordered cocktails which were good. I got the Yuzu paloma which wasn't sweet and I liked it. I noticed there were several vegetarian options but not many vegan options especially for main entrees but after chatting with the waitress she was able to make an entree, the bucatini pasta, vegan. We also ordered the charred sweet potato as an appetizer (labeled vegan) and my bf ordered the chicken. The sweet potato came out first and it was HUGE! It's listed as a small plate but it was served on a large plate with 3 halves and a salad. It was pretty straight forward but we enjoyed how fresh and crisp the dish was. Next our entrees came out. This is not a fast food type restaurant so I really don't want to be part of the conversations of the diners on either side of me. Started with the Balsamic strawberries herbed ricotta. The strawberries were AMAZING. I could have eaten just a those in a bowl. More ricotta would have been nice. We had the buttermilk pork chop and the pappardelle with beef Ragu sauce Both were excellent. The ragu was sublime. There was a little heat in the sauce which was so good. My chief complaint with this dish was the really small bowl it was served in. Made it really hard to maneuver the food. The bread was perched in a precarious manner on the edge of the bowl The pork chop was tender. Delightful combination with the apple. Once more the size of the bowl/plate and maneuvering the chop to cut was an issue. The meal was so good and the anticipation of the dessert menu was pretty high. When I saw the menu I thudded to earth pretty quickly. There was the ubiquitous flourless chocolate cake or lemon blueberry cake. I'm updating a 3 star review with a 3 star review. We won't be back. Nothing worth noting here. The ambience is lack there of. The welcome was bleak, the service was align with the welcome. We ordered the burrata, the roasted grapes were cool (probably the best part of the whole experience), also ordered a pasta (was very spicy without stating on the menu nor did the server tell me), the arugula salad was the best dish we ordered. The crispy chicken dish, hot chicken over a bed of cold pasta salad... I am no chef but this was gross. Sad because we used to venture here years ago and I guess it's just not the same. Also, there was a stray cat eating off a plate outside (cutest thing we saw but probably not sanitary since they barely wiped the table down that it was standing on. read more

Our server Greg was amazing. Best Mothers Day brunch. Must have items are eggplant meatballs and steak. Ahi amazing too. read more
