I visited Industry Standard for a date night, and overall, it's a solid spot with a great atmosphere. The service itself was good. The food and drink were a bit of a mixed bag. The sausage & broccolini pasta had good overall flavor with a decent kick of heat, though it leaned a little too heavy on the salt. The miso and lemon pepper wings were both fine, typical wings. My glass of wine tasted flat, so that was a bit of a letdown. Surprisingly though, the highlight drink of the night was my date's IPA. I don't even like IPAs, but it was genuinely delightful! Since the restaurant doesn't seem to have a designated lot, parking downtown can be a gamble. I got lucky and found a street meter for just $1.20/hour. However, my date ended up in the private lot directly behind the building and that was a $33 charge for 3 hours! Just a heads-up to think about about parking options ahead. I went to Phoenix last week for a conference, but if I'm being truthful, a big part of the trip was really about catching up with friends. I scored a free ticket; I can fly pretty cheaply thanks to my wife's flight benefits, so why not? Since I wasn't even sure I was going until a few days before, I hadn't RSVP'd for any of the usual conference dinners or after-hours events. My original plan was pretty simple. Hang out at the hotel, grab something at the bar, relax. Then the opportunity came up to have dinner with two good friends I hadn't seen in more than a year. Conference event? Or actual quality time with friends? Easy decision. We headed over to Industry Standard. One of my friends had wisely made a reservation online, which definitely helped. We were seated right away, although shortly after sitting down we learned they needed our table/section for a larger group. No biggie. We moved and carried on. Our server got drinks going quickly. I stuck with water, while one of my friends had the Pretty In Peach cocktail and gave it the thumbs-up. The menu looked really good. Two of us went with the Poke Bowl, while the odd woman out ordered the Caesar Salad with chicken. Sounds pretty basic, right? Apparently not. She said it was really, really good. She also ordered the Confit Tomatoes as an appetizer. Funny enough, those arrived a few minutes after our entrées because there was apparently a little confusion about whether they were an appetizer or part of someone's meal. Again, not a big deal. We were there to catch up, not run a stopwatch. As for my poke bowl, I'll admit I was slightly concerned about the portion size. Poke bowls can sometimes fall into that "small bowl, big price" category. Not here. It was a surprisingly large portion, very tasty, and had a nice little bit of spice to it. Definitely exceeded expectations. And because apparently dinner wasn't enough, we finished by sharing the cookie skillet with ice cream. Solid decision. Very good. Service throughout the night was excellent, although I unfortunately can't remember our server's name. Sorry, my dude. You did a great job! The restaurant itself is fairly small inside, although they do have outdoor seating. Of course, when it's roughly 110 degrees in Phoenix in August, eating outside isn't really my thing. So if you're planning to go and want to sit indoors, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. Good food, great service, and even better company. The portion was generous enough for me to take some home, and the asparagus was a perfect complement to the halibut and risotto. Shout out to Lady's! If you are looking for a great place to enjoy good food, good drinks, and good conversation, Tuesday Wendsdays Ladies' Night is the place to be. It is a perfect way to break up the middle of the week with girlfriends. Let's face it, caviar, champagne, or a martini is not a bad way to start a meal. The food here was really good, they have a lot of happy hour menu items for different days of the week, like "girl dinner" and "boy dinner". Their cocktail menu is really fun too if that's what you're looking for, definitely a fun place to drink. It's got a dark vibe interior and was pretty lively. The parking lot behind is $23 minimum so make sure to look for street parking when you're driving in. We ordered a few things but my favorite was probably the ceviche or the Caesar, both were well dressed and I kept reaching for them. Honestly, all the food here was really great and came out so quick I was very happy. Unfortunately I ordered a Diet Coke that never came, but to be fair I did it after everyone had already gotten their drinks, and the server wasn't ready to write it down. Something that really bothered us though was when we asked the server if they do anything for birthdays and they said yes. We received two different desserts and were really happy until we got the bill and realized we were charged for one of them. I have been to Industry Standard twice now, and it is safe to say I am totally hooked. My first visit was on a Wednesday night to try their "Girl Dinner" special, which comes with a caviar chip bump, a Caesar salad, pasta, and a glass of Prosecco all for $25. They do enforce a 90-minute time limit for the table, but that was honestly plenty of time for my friends and me to chat, enjoy our food, and have a great time. I loved it so much that I recommended it for a Saturday night dinner with another girlfriend just recently. The food here is absolutely great and the drinks are fantastic. I ordered this Ube piña colada drink that I honestly have not stopped thinking about since, and the pasta is really good too. The overall vibe of the restaurant is very cute and unique, making it the perfect spot for a girls' night out. The only downside to the whole experience is that the parking situation is terrible, so you definitely want to plan ahead for that. However, the excellent food, great drinks, and amazing atmosphere make it completely worth it. I will definitely be back. read more

Went in for drinks but ended up ordering a couple of salads and some chicken wings--and I'm glad we did! The watermelon salad was definitely the highlight--10/10! The perfect balance of sweet and savory, and something I would absolutely come back for. The wings had a good level of spice, but they were missing a little seasoning. The Caesar salad, unfortunately, was soggy and lacked the crispness I prefer. The drinks were very strong. Personally, I prefer my drinks a little lighter so I can enjoy them throughout the night without them being too overpowering. It looks like their menu slightly changes depending on the season. Besides alcoholic drinks, they also serve up some really nice entrees from seafood dishes, pasta, chicken wings, and flatbreads. I got myself a steak bowl which cost me $29.18 (includes tax and tip). There was way more rice than steak but the steak was quite delicious. The rice was adorned with a coconut lime flavor which give it a nice little kick in my taste buds. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was a stereotypical "bro." The food was tasty, the service friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for date night or an intimate group. My lobster roll was stuffed with chilled buttery Maine lobster and was just fantastic. The shoestring fries were lightly battered and a perfect combination. The bolognese was another tasty dish with long ribbon pasta and three meat ragu. The Caesar salad was tangy with just a little kick to it. My favorite dish was their dessert -- the brown butter chocolate chip cookie skillet. This looked like a pizookie with vanilla ice cream on top but was 10x better. It was like soft slightly melted cookie dough without being too sweet. Such a great dessert! I ordered the barbacoa with poblano grits and it was sensational! Whoever concocted the idea of making poblano grits--I could kiss you! Went here without a reservation on a Friday night. The place did not seem busy at any point that we were there, but we were asked to sit at the bar because of the lack of reservation. This was not an issue, just one that was interesting, though the layout is small and the bathroom door is behind the bar seats, so it isn't the most comfortable location given the tight squeeze with foot traffic. The menu seemed focused on the cocktails, with a mixture of what might be considered and appetizer or main course mixed together. We got the watermelon and cucumber salad to start, thinking it would be refreshing after a long walk there in the heat. Both of us were shocked when the first notes of the watermelon were spicy. We read the menu and then understood that this was not meant to be a light bite. It was very enjoyable, but just a different taste than expected. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles. This had the spice expected. What was interesting was that the spices were almost exactly the same to the watermelon and cucumber salad. Not bad, but we probably would have ordered a different starter. We also ordered the streak bowl and the foccaccia with ricotta. The steak was incredible, and the highlight of the meal. This would have been better with more egg..not sure one full egg wad used? and less rice. The focaccia was warm and the ricotta with honey a nice palate cleanser before and after the meal. We also got the chicken pot pie and the short rib pasta. The entrees were good but not as good as the salad. I thought we got the wrong pasta because the description on the menu made me think it was a white sauce and it was more like a bolognese. I immediately sat down at the bar and was greeted by a very friendly gentleman who brought me a glass of water to start while I looked over the menu! Industry Standard moved into the space on Roosevelt that was previously Carly's Bistro. It was busy on Saturday night, but our server was friendly and efficient. The crowd was fantastically diverse. A glass of Raventos sparkling wine is a good way to start. Caesar salad and lobster roll were both good. Charred broccolini with romesco sauce and toasted breadcrumbs was excellent. And the brown butter chocolate chip skillet cookie was amazing! Pass for me on the confit tomatoes with sweet ricotta cheese and focaccia that was just ok. The service and atmosphere at Industry Standard are fine, but I've been let down by the food. I enjoyed the Caesar salad and French dip I had on my first visit. Subsequent visits have been lacking. I had vodka pasta with very little oomph. Shouldn't the tomato have some presence? I also tried an Asian steak bowl that contained an insane amount of plain, unseasoned white rice and a paltry amount of bland beef. It's far from cheap, either. The quality and consistency just aren't there. The menu shouldn't feel like a game of Minesweeper. read more

Two of us got the 'Girl Dinner' which was not only the perfect girl dinner, but it was a great deal as well. A ruffle with caviar and crème fraiche, a delicious and creamy caesar salad, spicy vodka rigatoni pasta, and a choice between champagne or a martini. All for $25! We also got the PB&J espresso martini which was unique and so incredibly delicious. The rest of the group ordered the flatbreads which were both decent and personal sized. We were seated right away and our server was really attentive. What's I'd change, thy bring all of your food out at once instead of allowing you to tiny one dish at a time. You have to eat the pasta first so that it doesn't get cold, then go back for your salad. I couldn't taste the caviar because they slop so much sour cream or whatever that was on the chip. Maybe less of that so that people can taste what their eating. If you don't want either of the drinks you have to buy one separately, which I had to. It should be any martini.
