When a friend suggested we try Hearsay for a girls dinner recently, the rest of us looked at the reviews and photos and agreed! There were five of us and we had a 6pm reservation. I parked in the parking garage, which I am not a huge fan of, but that is where the Hearsay website said to park for validation. Some of the others in my group did use the valet at the Ritz. We were seated promptly and ordered some drinks to start including wine, sangria and mocktails. Everyone enjoyed their drinks! We also started with a couple of appetizers for the table including burrata and crispy tuna rice bites. For entrees, we went with a variety of items at the table. My friend Arlene and I split the salmon and asked for extra veggies. Other friends enjoyed the Cobb Salad, Grilled Cheese and french fries, and fish tacos. The lemon blueberry crumb cheesecake, unfortunately, was not our favorite. I ordered the macro bowl and added the blackened shrimp, and that was really refreshing and tasty! The ambiance and decor is so rich! The seating is so comfortable too. I loved how spaced out the seating is too so you aren't overhearing other peoples conversations and feel like you have your own personal experience. The bathrooms were huge and individual very nice stalls. The food was delicious we all shared a few different appetizers like their beef sliders, truffle fries, Mexican corn dip and chips, and meatballs. The margaritas and grapefruit vodka drink were superb. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because although the staff was very friendly, they did not visit our table often enough. Attended a work happy hour and dinner here and was a splendid time. We had a beautiful charcuterie board to pair with their signature cocktails and beverages. I was a really big fan of the selection of meats and cheeses. The servers were attentive and impressively remembered everyone's drinks. For dinner, we had the hummus platter to start which was very colorful and fun. the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I got the house salad along with the short rib entree. House salad was simple and clean, while the beef short rib was super tender and flavorful. It required no assistance from my knife. Lastly, we closed the night with a platter of different desserts. I visited during HH. I'm in the area often; however, I wasn't aware that this place existed. It's tucked inside the Esplanade. At first entrance, I thought the place was a communal workspace. I listened to his spiel about the background, location, etc of the biz. After sampling two different drinks, I settled on the pineapple fire drop. It has a bite, but I needed it. The shrimp ceviche is definitely worth trying. It comes with seasoned chips and a hearty portion of ceviche. This is a great space for work meetings, after work meetups, or date night. This is a perfect spot for happy hours after work, a nice dinner, or brunch on the weekends! I have celiac disease, so I made it very clear that I needed a gluten-free meal. Unfortunately, I was served food containing gluten (or there was significant cross-contamination), and I became extremely sick afterward. For someone with celiac disease, this isn't a preference or a trend--it's an autoimmune disease, and even a small amount of gluten can cause serious health issues. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously by improving staff training and gluten-free protocols so this doesn't happen to someone else. I'm disappointed because I trusted that my dietary needs would be taken seriously. Charcuterie board and meatballs along with our signature cocktails were delicious. Our server Kale was attentive and personable even though he was very busy. He also accommodated a tweak I made to my cocktail with a smile. Now DJ Luke had us dancing in our seats; his music and mixing was awesome. We stopped by as we were leaving and complimented him. To make things worse, the fries were cold. For a place putting a chef's name front and center, the execution just isn't there. The hummus plate was OK, but all 4 in my party all said they wouldn't want to eat here again. Feels more like a happy hour hangout than a serious dining destination. You can't build a reputation on cocktails and vibes alone -- the kitchen has to deliver. As it stands, Hearsay looks the part but doesn't follow through where it matters most. Ok, I give 1 star for decor because while it's nice that the interior designer did a beautiful job, it doesn't impact the food. 2 stars for service as all service staff were very kind and welcoming. I can't give any stars for food however and maybe I ordered the wrong things as I don't see many reviews for the kale Caesar salad so let me be the first to say - it's not good. I was thinking it would be as good as LGO's kale salad but I was rudely mistaken. It lacked flavor and even the presentation was lackluster. I ordered it with chicken and unfortunately they forgot it. I also ordered a side of salt and pepper fries, they were nothing special and honestly a little burnt. I ended up getting the chicken when I was more than half way done with my meal and that was decently good, well seasoned and juicy. The waiter ended up removing the chicken from my bill, unprompted which I appreciated.
