Say hello to your new favorite downtown restaurant! Wow, where to begin? Service was amazing - they even printed out a small card with our reservation name on it which was presented on our table. Such a cute touch and very thoughtful. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The spot is small and chic. It's very intimate dining so you'll be sitting close to the table next to you. Luckily, it's a quiet and calm space, so no need to worry about noise. The food was incredible. The salmon crudo was possibly the best crudo I have ever had in my entire life. So fresh and the flavors were balanced to perfection. The risotto changed my life... it was so delicious I couldn't even believe it. The only thing I would recommend skipping was the octopus tostada - not my favorite and a little fishy for my liking. Personal preference of course! The duck tasted great and was beautifully presented, but it wasn't my favorite. Again, I'm not a huge meat eater so take my advice on this one with a grain of salt. It was pretty good but certainly not worth the titular pretty penny price--and we didn't even get the recommended 8 dishes, which is, like, the entire menu. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back. read more

Our reservation for Saturday, June 13, was canceled on June 11 with very little notice. What makes this especially frustrating is that our reservation was made before the restaurant posted its "Summer Break" announcement. We had planned an evening around bringing out-of-town guests to Pretty Penny and are now left scrambling to find another reservation at the last minute. While I understand businesses occasionally need to close, the way this was handled was disappointing. It appears the website was updated and existing reservations were canceled only two days before the closure took effect. Better planning and communication would have gone a long way in preventing inconvenience for customers who had already made commitments based on confirmed reservations. We've been loyal patrons, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Hopefully the restaurant's summer business is strong enough to offset the loss of customers who expect better communication and consideration when plans change. read more

Stopped by for a drink before grabbing a quick dinner. We were lucky--there were three seats together at the bar, and we were the last walk-ins that they seated. This is a cool little bar with exposed ductwork a wooden bar, and some high top banquettes. It's definitely has a cosmopolitan feel to it. By the time we walked it looked like all tables and seats were taken. We were greeted as soon as we came in and taken to the last three seats at the bar. Our bartender was so nice and engaging, and he made some delicious drinks. There is a food menu, and there are some delicious sounding stuff on there. First off the pasta was AMAZING! I just had to throw that out there because the ricotta cheese on it with lemon dust. I was 10 out of 10. The only downside to that is it wasn't enough they needed to put more in them. I would've ordered more than one that's how that was. The risotto was good but a little too salted for me and my friend. The drinks, immaculate the service and the experience of being there 1000 to 10. The waiter check to see which Dominic Henry used right or left, I've only had that experience at Michelin star restaurants. A nice restaurant with many great & different food option on the menu. Our party of six tried every appetizer dishes on the menu of the very First Friday 2026. They were all delicious and well presented with the chef's explanations of each dishes arriving at the table. We got some recommendations from friends to try out this place -- definitely was not disappointed. The service was great, as all staff worked together seemingly to ensure no interruptions: water, wine, cocktails, or food. Inside the restaurant, its ambience was cozy & intimate. They welcomed us in without a reservation, which was great, and made us feel comfortable in a high top table, across from the bar. The ambience was low lighting with kind of a moody vibe; great for a date night or casual bite. The Dinner menu was small-ish, as were the wines by the glass. We therefore opted to buy a bottle. They were out of what we wanted to purchase, so they recommended a comparable bottle, which turned out to be $65 more than the bottle we originally wanted and $40 more than what the server quoted before we opened it (awkward at check time). The food was a bit pricey, but shareable amongst the three of us and had plenty of flavor. Highly recommend the roasted beet salad and Bolognese Pappardelle. The Branzino was served with roasted cherry tomato and caper beurre blanc. The skin was perfectly crisped, while the fish remained moist and flavorful. Don't be fooled by the name--this zero-proof sparkler blends jasmine, white tea, Darjeeling, and citrus. It was light and refreshing -- the perfect prelude to my savory main. What truly elevated the experience, though, were the staff. Jake and Sam were a fantastic "front-of-house" duo. Before dining, Jake noticed I was struggling with the parking meter outside and ran out to hand me quarters (not all heroes wear capes, eh?) Later, I dropped my napkin without realizing, and before I knew it, Jake swooped in ninja-style and inconspicuously replaced it. That kind of hospitality is rare. Sam was equally stellar. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about food and drink. She gave me fantastic recs for both a mocktail and dessert (the dessert was phenomenal, but I forget the name and couldn't do it justice, so I'll leave it at that). Two different friends of mine recommended this place so I had to give it a try. This location has seen many places come and go, so I was skeptical going in, but I really hope Pretty Penny stays! Their menu was fun and interesting, with a variety of different proteins and flavor profiles. They serve smaller plates, so staff recommended three or four for our party of two. We had the beef tartare, the romaine salad, and the octopus tostada. Everything was delicious, and nicely complimented by a great cocktail program. They also had a wine list, but knowing who's behind this spot, we had to go for cocktails. The passionfruit negroni was a standout. I was told it was a bigger splurge but considering what the food is, the quality, and the downtown location, it's reasonably priced. Similar nice places I'd compare this spot to (First & Last, Sottise, Wren & Wolf) are equally or more expensive. The atmosphere is dark, contemporary, and upscale with a nightlife-adjacent vibe. The service from Connor and the rest of the team was excellent. I especially loved sitting at the bar counter and getting to see the chefs cook. It was cool to see great food come together. I'm pretty hard to impress and when the bill comes in over $100 each, I'm REALLY hard to impress but I felt good leaving Pretty Penny. The service offered by Jake was stellar. After ordering a bottle of champagne (50% off before 6pm!) and some caviar (part of their Caviar at Cost offering) we let him order the rest of the food and it all delighted. The Hamachi and Octopus Tostada were both very good. That tostada is not to be missed. I found myself really enjoying the beet dish which is one of the more visually appealing dishes I've had recently and the pistachios really made it hit just right. We rounded out the meal with the plums, the halibut, and a pretty killer dessert. There's not much value in telling you about each dish as they were all excellent and I get the distinct feeling the kitchen doesn't put out anything subpar. Just go and enjoy. It's a gorgeous small venue with an elegant bar so whether on a date, a business, trip, or just out for a high-end meal you'll feel good about the atmosphere. He informed there were indeed pistachios. He was ready to kick into action that maybe the waiter forgot but I informed it was not informed to the waiter and it was my SO fault for not asking Not realizing he over heard my comment on how I love beets*, he came back with a personal dish for me with no nuts. After reading all the great reviews and seeing the delicious pictures I decided to bring my son here for his 17th birthday. He asked to go have steak. In the past we went to Flint and Steak 44 and I have to say those were both better experiences food wise. Maybe I need to come back during the high season when they have a fuller menu. The highlight was supposed to be my son's 32 ounce rib eye steak. It was cooked perfectly, but for some reason was just underwhelming in flavor. The waitress was right though the potatoes were delicious! He was excited about the caviar and really enjoyed that. It was a fun little dish to get for the occasion. I got the Seabass and just felt like it didn't fit the $50 price tag in flavor. (Yes I know "pretty penny"). My mom got the octopus tostada and it was tasty. We also ordered one of each of the desserts. The peach cobbler was OK. Overall it was just so-so experience food wise. The decor is beautiful and the presentation was elegant.
