Steak 44 was an exceptional experience from the moment we arrived! My date and I pulled up for valet parking, and the evening already felt special. Upon entering, we were greeted by a beautiful display of wine bottles that immediately caught my attention. The atmosphere was elegant, intimate, and sophisticated, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. We settled in for cocktails, delicious food, and great conversation. I ordered a martini and the filet mignon, prepared medium-well with truffle butter. We also enjoyed mashed potatoes, potatoes au gratin, roasted Brussels sprouts, and a beet salad. Now, let's talk about that beet salad! Absolutely EVERYTHING! The colorful beets, fresh greens, and cheese made for such a delightful combination. It was easily one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The potatoes au gratin were equally delicious, and the entire meal felt wonderfully indulgent. But what truly elevated our evening was the service. Our server was absolutely AMAZING! She was attentive, gracious, and made every moment feel effortless. I genuinely appreciated how she anticipated our needs and wouldn't let me lift a finger. That level of care and attention transformed an already beautiful dinner into a complete luxury dining experience. Steak 44 understands that exceptional dining goes beyond what's served on the plate. It's the atmosphere, the presentation, the hospitality, and those thoughtful touches that make an evening memorable. My experience? A solid 10/10! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a romantic night out, Steak 44 delivers an experience worth savoring. I would absolutely return! read more

I've lived in Arizona for three years, and I've never experienced anything quite like what happened tonight at Steak 44. My friend and I arrived dressed nicely, only to be stopped and told that her outfit violated the restaurant's dress code because it was considered "athletic wear." She was wearing a tasteful white two-piece pants set, nothing revealing or inappropriate. The gentleman who approached us, whom I assume was a manager, initially refused to let us dine. Rather than argue, she showed him why it wasn't and then we politely thanked him and walked away. As we left, my friend immediately expressed how uncomfortable and singled out the interaction made her feel. Approximately two minutes later, the same gentleman came outside and told us he would make an exception "this time" because we seemed like nice people. That statement only made the situation more insulting. If the dress code was truly the issue, what suddenly changed? And why did whether we seemed like "nice people" determine if we were welcome? Under normal circumstances, we would have taken our business elsewhere. However, my friend had driven an hour specifically to enjoy one of her favorite restaurants, and it was already 9:30 p.m. What should have been an enjoyable evening turned into an uncomfortable experience that affected the entire night between her and I and ultimately caused it to end early. I won't speculate about the reasoning behind our treatment, but I will say that what we experienced, especially compared with other guests we observed, left us questioning whether the "dress code" was being truly the reason we were disrespected. I've always heard great things about Steak 44, and I appreciate the restaurant's reputation for excellent food and service. Unfortunately, my very first visit left me feeling disappointed, disrespected, and unwelcome. Fine dining should come with high standards, but those standards should be applied consistently and respectfully to every guest. No one should be made to feel that they have to earn the right to be treated with dignity. read more

What can I say but FABULOUS! Steak 44 never disappoints, and this is one restaurant that truly has the art of first-class dining down to perfection. We usually frequent Steak 44 when celebrating our birthdays (our entire family has September birthdays!), and it has become a tradition we look forward to year after year. From the moment you walk in, the experience is nothing short of exceptional. The service is impeccable, as you would expect from a high-end steakhouse, but it's the attention to detail that truly sets this place apart. Every entrée is cooked to perfection, and the flavors of the food and sides are on a whole different level. Simply put, every bite is a celebration! One of my favorite features is the beautiful glass-enclosed booths overlooking the kitchen, which add a unique and exciting touch to an already spectacular dining experience. And just when you think the evening couldn't get any better, Steak 44 follows up the next day to make sure your experience exceeded expectations. Now that's what I call going above and beyond! If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, whether for a special occasion or simply because you deserve to be spoiled, Steak 44 is a must. Be sure to book your reservation in advance through OpenTable, as this popular spot stays busy! read more

Food and service were amazing. Loved the ambiance and the entire staff was extremely welcoming. Finally got to try it after so many years. As you can imagine my steak was cooked perfectly. Only reason it's missing a star is because I had sides left , and when the server boxed my stuff, he never boxed my sides I had ordered. But will come back regardless! read more

From the moment I stepped into Steak 44, I knew I was in for something special. The restaurant strikes that rare balance between upscale elegance and warm hospitality, and it does so with absolute confidence. The first thing that hit me was the impeccably romantic decor. The lighting is soft without being dim, the textures are rich, and the entire space feels intentionally designed to make you slow down and savor the moment. The steaks are, simply put, phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and served with the kind of confidence that only comes from a kitchen that knows exactly what it's doing. Every bite reminded me why Steak 44 has such a strong reputation. The sides are hearty and generous, the kind you want to share but secretly wish you didn't have to. Whether it's potatoes, vegetables, or something richer, each dish feels crafted with the same care as the steaks themselves. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Attentive without hovering, polished without feeling stiff. Every staff member I interacted with seemed genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. It's rare to find service that feels both professional and personal, but Steak 44 nails it. read more

My review can be summarized in three words: oh. my. gosh. My boyfriend and I went to Steak 44 for a special early birthday dinner for me and if I could choose my very last meal, it would be the crispy shrimp. They were crispy and light yet tangy and just overall delicious. I am obsessed with this appetizer. We split the NY strip and whipped potatoes and I was totally shocked by the hot plate they serve the steak here on. I haven't heard of this experience before so I felt like a VIP. My potatoes were literally bubbling up the plate was so hot. The steak melted in your mouth, it was so tasty. For my birthday they let me choose a free dessert and the chocolate bomme was nothing less than luxe. It was rich and creamy and even had gold flakes in it - perfect for my birthday to fee boujee. Our servers were incredibly attentive and totally made you feel special during your entire experience. I loved the low light in the restaurant making it feel classy and intimate. I loved getting all dressed up for this experience and my boyfriend asked the server if he had seen Mike Trout leaving while we were eating and the server said celebs are a usual occurrence here. read more

This was a true dining EXPERIENCE!!! We were treated like Royalty!!! This will be my favorite review to ever write and although my photos don't let this dining experience shine, let me tell you, it was a SHINNING EXPERIENCE!! I checked us in for our reservation and the hostess welcomed us in, then promptly took us to the table that had been beautifully prepared for our dining experience. She asked if the lighting was too dim, but it was perfect. Every staff member was dressed neatly and welcomed us as we walked by. No staff members were running around frantically, and I could tell they are staffed amazingly well. So organized and kind, genuinely smiling at us. I could tell that anyone would be willing to help us, if we needed them! Our waiter, Daniel, came over and again, welcomed us. He let us know the specials of the night and how dinner will be served. Let us know not to touch the 500 degree plates when they arrived. He took out drink orders and answered any question we had. He promptly came back with drinks and fresh, hot rolls!! Daniel took our dinner orders. We all sat and visited while waiting, enjoying our drinks and the hot rolls. Dinner was served on, as promised, hot plates!! Then, they served each of us the crème brûlée corn. All of us that ordered meat, asked for medium rare and we were not disappointed!! Our meats were spot on!!! Perfection!!! The petite filet mignon were very juicy and delicious, as was the New York strip. The Crispy Hasselback Potatoes were so good, especially with the topping. The Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs were so good!!! I feel like our meals were simple yet divine!! After we enjoyed dinner, we were served the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake, on the house!! What a nice touch!! So yummy and it felt guilty eating such a fabulous dessert!! We all shared it! All in all, I wish I could give 10/10 stars!! Such a wonderful dinner experience!! I can't wait to go back!!!! read more

Saturday evening visit, second visit. The staff clearly has the expectation to speak to all customers anytime their paths cross. The appetizers were good, especially the king crab + avocado stack. The sides are shareable. The bacon was inconsistently cooked. Some pieces were cooked well some were, overcooked as well as too fatty. The entrees were cooked well. The restaurant was full and while most tables where speaking at an acceptable level there was a table nearby that was louder than we would've like. Our particular server was ok. The fact that multiple staff members assist with various parts of the dining experience made up for any lack on the server's part. read more

Celebrated our 11th anniversary at Steak 44 and unfortunately this visit didn't match the great experiences we've had before. Both steaks were overcooked, mine was completely well‑done and very dry, and my husband's came out medium‑well instead of medium. The sides were okay but not at the level we expect from Steak 44. For the price, the food should be unforgettable. We'll be taking a break from coming here. read more

Another five star experience. From our server, Jordan, to the incredible food offerings - it's a whole experience. Nothing is bad here and I encourage you to try everything!! Their corn creme brûlée side dish is positively ICONIC as is the $52 fried lobster tail appetizer. The only "flaw" we felt was the tiny bit of chile aioli that comes with the lobster tails- we asked for more and by the time we got it, the tails were cold. Not a huge deal and we know it was a busy Saturday night. We love this place, it's our fave but be ready to spend. The value for your money, however, is FAR superior to Mastros or Ruth Chris and the highly overrated Bones And Bourbon due to the many inventive and foodie forward recipes their chefs put on offering. The hanging bacon appetizer, at $29, is delicious and hearty, an absolutely delightful chewy explosion of sweet and spicy flavor which the four adults at our table devoured in minutes. It was more the thickness of pork belly-just divine. We must have looked like a bunch of lions eating a zebra carcass, we descended on it so voraciously. I deviated from my usual steak and ordered salmon covered with a crab cake and hollandaise sauce and if I told you I almost fainted from pleasure you'd know precisely what kind of chunky monkey I am. It was just incredible- the salon was tender and juicy and the crab cake was full of tender crab and melted in my mouth. My hubby got the rib eye and we also shared a bunch of sides with our table mates - the standouts were the corn creme brûlée (an actual crime in Arizona if you don't try this!) and their Mac and cheese which was NOT your run of the mill concoction- instead it was medium pasta shells done chewy and al dente with god knows how many or what kind of creamy cheese on it, baked with buttery bread crumbs till crispy and bubbly. Again...died and went to heaven chewing this gluten filled delight. My A1c called during the meal and was not happy with my menu choices. Nor was my bank, who did a fraud alert on my card due to the $556 bill....this was AFTER applying $400 in gift cards I had. But to be fair, it was a TON of great food (and drinks all around!) and we are great tippers. Again- more worth the money than any other steak place in AZ. The only other places we've loved equally are: Gordon Ramsay Steak in Vegas, Devonshire Pub SoHo in London, and Chef Vola's (IYKYK) in Atlantic City. Long live Steak 44! read more

Went here for a birthday! Server was very friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional. It's a little loud in there so a little hard to hear people across the table. I've been eyeing this restaurant for a while now, and I finally booked a reservation! This place is packed, the ambiance is so nice, dark and low light setting which gives it a nice touch with dinner. I ordered the twin lobster tails with drawn butter, sautéed corn, and truffle fries! We also got the 16oz NY strip, and it was phenomenal. I mean, the plates come out sizzling and the meat is just so tender it melts in your mouth. It's amazing! Next time we are back I'll be trying the filet! The service was good, they even offer you lavender hot towels for the end of your meal to clean your hands! Nice touch IMO! Check them out if you haven't already, and if you're looking for a nice date night spot or just a place to celebrate something special! This is the perfect place! read more

Wow - what an experience. Coming from WA, Daniel's or John Howie are our favorite steak houses....however...Steak 44 blows them out of the water. Their service is top notch, you will be asked if you want a white or black linen, and you will receive a hot hand towel after every appetizer or entree. A very nice touch. Is it expensive? YES! Is it the best Steak and service you've ever had? Absolutely. The sides can be shareable. For five of us we ordered 3 sides and it worked perfectly. Their crab avocado starter could use some crackers or something, just avocado and crab was kinda weird. All steaks are served on a 500 degree plate, my food stayed hot the entire meal. It's definitely a place any steak lover should experience, with phenomenal service. read more

No doubt that Steak 44 is Arizona's BEST restaurant! There's not a bad dish to be found! My husband treated me to their scrumptious sea bass. No one makes sea bass like Steak 44! If I could give this place 10 stars I would, my only regret is not coming sooner! If you live in AZ or are visiting you MUST stop by. The food is incredible - and the service is even better! We ordered the meatballs to start - they are pretty good, just a little heavy for an appetizer (you live and learn). However the entrees were 10/10. I ordered the petite filet and my husband ordered the regular 12 oz filet and let me just say the quality was phenomenal. For sides we ordered the shell and cheese, chef potato's, and asparagus since we couldn't decide on which sides to get, we left with plenty of left overs. Our waiter Logan was such a gem. It was a busy Friday night and he had a few large parties in his section but attended to everyone in such a timely manner. I also loved his confidence with his recommendations you can tell he is extremely knowledgeable in regard to the menu. Since we were celebrating my husband's birthday he offered us a complementary dessert which was so kind. Besides the amazing food and service I appreciate the small gestures this restaurant does such as bringing you a warm towel after dinner to clean up, or ending the night with some delicious mini chocolate chip cookies when they drop off your check. This place is definitely worth the price. Thank you to the steak 44 family for upholding the service without compromising the quality of food. I also would love to suggest you consider opening a location in Los Angeles! read more

First off, if you're from out of town and wanted to bring your own bottle of wine then prepare to be told that they don't offer a corkage fee but that it's illegal in AZ for any restaurant establishments to allow bringing outside alcohol. Strange law but wished we knew before purchasing fine wines. The manager was understanding and patient while explaining to us. He also helped my boyfriend pick a wine that was exceptional. For starters, we got colossal shrimp cocktail and complimentary rolls. My main was the petit filet mignon. I was most excited about the sides we got: praline whipped sweet potatoes, corn crème brûlée, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Everything was well prepared and we pretty much ate all of it. Plus key lime pie and warm vanilla caramel cake made all of us burst out of our pants lol! At the end we got the appetizer and desserts on the house to make up for the fact we couldn't drink our own bottle. That was very thoughtful and they certainly earned bonus points for it! read more

Drinks were fantastic. That bottle of wine was amazing, and I had a few different types of old fashioneds that I'd gladly go back for. Unfortunately, the steak I had was terrible and not my type. I was going for the regular strip, server steered me towards the Australian grass-fed Wagyu, I said ah what the hell, anddd... it sucked. It's leaner, firmer, and gamey -- all fine things if that's your preference, but when I'm spending that kind of money on a steak I was hoping for better. Interior and exterior of the restaurant are very nice, I will say. Good clean modern aesthetic, definitely my type of place. Unfortunately, I came here for the steak and it missed the mark. read more

Our main course was well cooked . Desert and coffee was the perfect way to top it all off . While all this was happening they make sure they take care or everything around you before you even ask . Can't wait to be able to come again .any one looking for a place to be romantic , spend time to laugh with friends , have serious conversations. All while being attended. You found it read more

Beautiful restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. The atmosphere feels upscale but still comfortable, making it a great place for a special night out or a nice dinner in general. I enjoyed the sea bass paired with a filet and Chef Moroni's potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly -- the steak was tender and flavorful, while the sea bass was light, delicate, and melted in your mouth. We started with the colossal shrimp appetizer, which was chilled perfectly and served with a delicious creamy mustard dipping sauce. There are plenty of drink options, including an extensive wine list. We chose Aperol Spritzes, which were refreshing and well-made. The staff was extremely attentive and polite, with light, friendly banter while still staying professional and efficient. The restaurant filled up quickly -- we were lucky to get seats at the bar without a reservation on a weekend around 3:30-4 PM, but it was full shortly after. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation during busy lunch or dinner hours. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with excellent food, service, and ambiance. read more

I also got the Mac and cheese which is not pictured here, but it was amazing as well. Everything was 10/10. I loved my lemon drop cocktail too, I got a second one because of how good it was. Upon my arrival, I was told that the dining area opens at 5pm. I decided to sit at the bar to eat. They did seat me right next to where servers picked up their drinks and it was a bit awkward. I did get really excellent service from the bartender though. I ordered a strawberry rhubarb drink which was delicious. I got 12 oysters, 6 to start my meal and 6 to finish my meal. They were amazing. They did cover them in parsley which was weird to me but the sauces were the true star. All hand made, and they give you a lot. Basically enough to drink. Then my steak came out. I ordered a petite filet medium rare. It was very good but unfortunately the plate was so hot that it was cooking my steak as I was eating it. I did not like that at all. I basically ended with a medium steak. So I decided to eat it quickly, but it was so hot that it was burning me and making me more warm than I already was. It was pretty hot in the restaurant. The asparagus was served on my hot plate by my bartender, which was nice, and they sizzled on the plate. The steak experience wasn't a very good one. The bread was also really good and fresh. A bit too much salt on the top but very fluffy. Lastly, my desert was also delicious. I got the chocolate bomb with the mousse inside and I have no negative comments on it. All together I thought my meal was a really good one. The hot plate is what ruined the meal. read more

I've been dining here for over 10 years and it's always a fine experience at steak 44. Whether it's a table for 2 or 20, we always get excellent white glove service that is efficient, attention to detail, and professional. The food is all tasty because it's drenched in butter - that's great and "bad." The martinis are always balanced, ice cold, shaken. Service and environment were ok. Long story short: Ocean 44 is better. Spend your money there. Long story long: The crust on our steaks (filet) was inconsistent and the cook was improper. My partner ordered their filet medium - it was not very tender and had thick gray bands. The lighting makes it difficult to check without being obnoxious and we were so hungry that we decided to eat the steaks (and cost), rather than delay our meal further. The sides were ok. We will not return. read more

Had dinner here while visiting Scottsdale. Researched several steakhouses and Steak 44 (modern) and Durant's (old school) consistently came up as top contenders. Makes sense - both are owned by the same company. So, somewhat mixed reviews here. - Apps: calamari (way overpriced, mediocre (3 of 5 stars), chef's bacon (delicious, very filling, 4.5. I would skip this if you're getting steak. It's filling.) - Dinner: 12 oz filet (med rare, 4 stars), pork chops (overcooked, dry, 2 stars) - Sides: cream corn (delicious!) - Dessert: beignets (skip it!) tasted and had the consistency of mini rolls sprinkled with powder sugar. Expensive. 1.5 stars (taking into consideration its $21) - Ambiance: standard modern-type decor and vibe. - Service: eh...average. 3.5 stars. Would I go back? Probably not. 3.5 stars read more

So glad we dined here for our trip to Phoenix! We started with the torched scallops with caviar for an appetizer. It was an absolute explosion of flavor and perfect for a light appetizer. For the main courses I had the grass fed NY strip and my husband had the bone in filet. Both were cooked to perfection and their signature rub really enhances the flavor of the steak without over powering the meat. We had the black truffle peppercorn sauce which the steak did not even need but it was delicious. We also shared the crispy hasselback potato which was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. The manager even gave a free dessert when he heard we traveled all the way from Tennessee.
