Stephen Dean, the manager at Ocean 44, actually sent me a $75 giftcard after seeing my previous review so that was a really kind gesture!! My boyfriend and I came back last night and even though it was a busy and packed Saturday night we were seated immediately as walk-ins at the high top bar. This place was poppin! There were so many parties getting cocktails around us. We were offered the water options of bottled sparkling, bottled still, and house filtered and even the option of a dark napkin cloth or their standard white napkin cloth. The person next to us was eating the Collosal Shrimp Cocktail and the shrimps looked HUUUUGE so we had to get it. They charge $13 per shrimp so we ordered 2 each for a total of 4, the Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi, the Wood Fired Spanish Octopus, Loaded Baked Potato, and the Cookies and Cream Cake for dessert. We were served the chilled and raw seafood dishes before the cooked and baked dishes which is the best way to enjoy your meal (light to heavy). First up was the Collosal Shrimp and they were MASSIVE!!! I included a photo with my index finger for size reference. They came with cocktail sauce, spicy mustard, and "atomic" horseradish. My preference was mixing the horseradish with the cocktail sauce. Both my boyfriend and I were highly impressed by the Collosal Shrimp, 10/10. The Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi came up next and this was also another favorite of the night. The yellowtail slices were large and they actually wrapped around thin slices of heart of palm (artichokes) and topped with something crunchy which gave it a nice contrasting texture against the soft and smooth yellowtail. I really loved the added ponzu and wished there was more of it, 10/10. Next up was the Wood Fired Spanish Octopus which was cooked to perfection, it was soft and did not have a chewy/rubbery texture. It came with fingerling potatoes, roasted tomatoes, and chopped up bacon bits in the creamy sauce. But the creamy sauce it came in lacked citrus to brighten up the dish. We actually asked for a lemon to squeeze over it. I think I've come to the conclusion that I don't like creamy sauces with my seafood since I didn't enjoy the spicy mustard with the Collosal Shrimp and also the creamy sauce with the Octopus. I give it 7/10 but my boyfriend gives it 8/10. Lastly for the savory dishes came the Loaded Baked Potato. It came pre-built with butter, cheese, thick cut bacon, chives, and a side of sour cream. I liked the sour cream so much that I asked for more, and the bar back dropped everything he was doing to go grab me some. The service here is UNMATCHED, I've never had a request fulfilled so quickly!! We wrapped up our dinner with the Lou Lou's Cookies and Cream Cake which was also massive. It was like a bougie ice cream sandwich with beautiful peaks of cream which I had assumed was a not-so-sticky and not-too-sweet marshmellow. We were so full though we took half of it home. My boyfriend and I both agreed that this time the entire experience (and our food selection) was way better!! Not to say our first visit was anything less than amazing, we still had a great experience then but this time around it was S-Tier and magical!! read more

Absolutely Stellar! If I could give Ocean 44, 10 stars, I would. I took my wife here for our 45th wedding anniversary, because I wanted something super special, and it was. To me, they are so much more than many of the fine steakhouses. The place is exquisite and the service unsurpassed. We had been shopping text door at the mall and showed up really early for our reservation. We were quickly accommodated none the less. The server, Tony was upbeat and happy. He provided exceptional service throughout. I also appreciated the manager's stopping by to make sure that everything was perfect, and it was. Our evening started with a nice card wishing us a happy anniversary. I thought that was a really nice touch. It looked even better surrounded by a glass of wine and Norwegian Crab Legs. They added a pan of their signature rolls to complete our delicious appetizer. For our main course, we had a petite filet, perfectly cooked to medium rare, two lobster tails, a crab cake add-on, mashed potato and roasted brussel sprouts. Truly a meal fit for a king. For our special celebration they brought out a key lime pie, beautifully decorated, wishing us a happy anniversary. Lovely restaurant with a beautiful setting. The lighting is perfect and the decor is very pleasing. Excellent setting for an absolutely fabulous meal. We began the evening with a couple martini's and some mixed drinks (a white Negroni and a margarita). The presentation was flawless and they were delicious. Especially the blood orange and pomegranate martini which is ocean 44's version of a cosmo. For the wine lover there is an extensive selection of beautiful bottles. We went to celebrate my son's 21st birthday and it did not disappoint. We started our meal with the jumbo shrimp cocktail for the table, then a shared Caesar salad and both were delicious. We each had New York strip steak and one was topped with truffle lobster. We also tried the salmon, French fries, and asparagus. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The restaurant gave my son his choice of dessert, which he chose the new Oreo gelato cake... which he loved. They also gave him a birthday card which was a nice touch and made for such a festive experience. Throughout the evening the service was impeccable. Our server, Shane, was very friendly, knowledgeable and attended to the tables every need. We had a gluten free restriction and he went above and beyond to make sure to accommodate. I wish I could give Ocean 44 a 4.5-star rating because the food was fantastic, but a few service bumps kept it from being a flawless 5-star experience. We are big fans of their sister restaurants, so we were really excited to try this location! To start, my husband was thrilled with the bread service. It is very unique and reminded us of a fancy Pillsbury croissant. We skipped taking pictures of the appetizers because we dove right in, but the meatballs were delicious and the colossal shrimp cocktail was great. The shrimp are ordered à la carte, so I chose to get three of them. For drinks, my husband loved his spicy mezcal margarita. I had the pineapple mezcal margarita, which was good, but it wasn't very pineapple-like despite me asking for it to be. For the mains, my husband had an off-menu Wagyu strip with sides of broccoli and fries, which he really enjoyed. I had the linguini and clams, which I was super excited about. The clams were very good, though unfortunately not the best I've ever had. I actually found myself wishing I had ordered a steak with a seafood topper for a surf-and-turf situation instead, but overall it was still really great. The only reason I wouldn't give this a full 5 stars is because the service was a little shaky at first. There were several times right at the beginning where we needed our server and she was nowhere to be found. Interestingly, the restaurant got much busier later into our dinner, but the service gaps happened at the start when it was still slow. I recently dined at Ocean 44 and had an exceptional experience. The atmosphere is the perfect balance between intimate and upscale, making it an ideal spot for either a business dinner or a date night. The service was welcoming throughout the evening. We booked this restaurant for my daughter's birthday, and they truly made the evening feel special. The customer service was 10/10 from start to finish. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. The food was phenomenal, and we left beyond satisfied. We have dined at many upscale steakhouses, and these were some of the best steaks we've ever had. We started with the shrimp cocktail, where you order each shrimp individually. It was worth every penny. The seafood is flown in fresh daily, and the shrimp were large, tender, and incredibly fresh. The horseradish and cocktail sauce were the perfect complement and absolutely delectable. They also offer an excellent wine list with great selections to pair with your meal. The ambiance is elegant and upscale while still feeling warm and inviting. While waiting for our entrées, they brought out a pan of buttery, flaky rolls that were impossible to resist. My daughter and I both ordered the 8 ounce filet, while my husband had the Caesar salad and meatballs. Every dish was savory, flavorful, and mouthwatering. The steaks practically melted in your mouth and were perfectly tender. The buttered corn was hands down one of the best side dishes, and the Brussel sprouts did not disappoint either. We also ordered the scalloped gouda potatoes, and the portions were generous enough for the entire table to share. The three of us even had leftovers for the next day. To top off the celebration, they had my daughter choose a complimentary birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. We have dined here for date nights, as well as special occasions. It is/was one of my favorites in Phoenix. I typically can say it's a 5*. This time it was closer to 3.5*, but I'm rounding up since it is typically better than it was the night we went recently. Pros 1. Beautiful decor and luxurious vibe 2. Most of the staff is professional Cons 1. About 1/3 of the oysters were not shucked well and had shell and/or sand on them. 2. Music that didn't fit the vibe. I forget what was playing but it seemed like dentist's office music. It was bad enough to notice that it was something that seemed out of place. 3. The young guys who served the sides seemed high. They plopped the food on our plates and had it dripping and extremely messy on the sides of the serving dishes. Celebrated a friend's birthday here. All of the staff were friendly from the hostess to our server Danny who took care of us. Our table was clean and our waters were kept full. Dimly lit restaurant with moderate noise level. We started with the crispy shrimp which was so flavorful and crispy. You can never go wrong with calamari, which was solid and delicious, love the peppers. I drank the coastal rita which was a refreshing margarita, would definitely order again. For my entree I got the 12oz filet mignon with the brussel sprouts as a side (which is served in a way meant to be shared.) The filet is served on a 500° plate so it continues cooking . I prefer medium well so it was a lil too pinkish initially but eventually got there. Tasted great though! Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well! Tender.. flavorful.. a quick of spice.. well balanced. Still day dreaming of it My wife and I did think the presentation of the surf and turf could be improved as well as the seasoning for the steak. The steak did need salt. Maybe a chimichuri sauce to dip would be good for this one just because it was a little dry (we ordered medium-rare) However!!!! The LOBSTER?? DELICIOSO again, tender, buttery and just perfect size! The ambience here was very nice for a special ocassion. They do have valet but the garage is right across so it's super easy anyway! We were seated next to a service table and there were a few guys (employees) chatting away with f-bombs thrown in, which was extremely surprising, but other than that we really enjoyed our experience. The complimentary rolls were amazing; so tasty that I couldn't stop at one. The crispy shrimp deviled eggs were SO delicious; I've had cravings ever since. The menu offers lots of appetizer, potato and vegetable side options. (The only thing I would mention is that the Torched Scallop appetizer is just that - torched only so they are raw scallops.) I decided to come here and enjoy a couple of appetizers and a glass of wine after my hair appointment at Sachi. I did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat anyway. However, I was told that I needed to be done by 6:45. That was fine because I arrived at about 415 so they gave me plenty of time to eat. One of my girlfriends also joined me as well and as usual, we sat at the bar. The bartenders were fantastic....very personable with great customer service. I can't remember the female's name, but she made a wonderful spicy margarita for me. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the lobster escargot, and I wasn't a fan of it. It had a mornay sauce that was more like a soufflé, and I just felt that that over-powered the lobster. Also, it was way more mornay sauce than lobster. It did have a little bit of caviar on the top but again that was lost because of all of the Mornay sauce. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller with a side of a couple of scallops. Both the scallops and the oysters Rockefeller were fantastic! In fact, the next time I go, I will definitely order that for an entree. My husband and I won "Date Night for a Year" at Ocean 44 during the auction portion of the Fresh Start Gala at the Phoenician Resort. We had the privilege of dining at Ocean 44 every month for a year, such an awesome experience. We pretty much know the menu inside and out. The service at Ocean 44 is excellent and the food is fantastic. They give you cards on special occasions, call the next day to see how the meal was. They bring warm damp scented towels between courses to clean your hands. Since we dined every month they knew our cocktail order before we sat down. Everything about Ocean 44 is five star! We usually requested a table with a view of the kitchen because it was more private, quieter, and fun to watch the back of the house do their thing. A few times we requested the room with the "trees." We liked the ambiance in that space as well. We liked to start with their Oysters. Always a great selection. Fresh, clean, and we love the accompaniments they serve with them, perfection! The Heirloom Tomato and King Crab is a stand out appetizer for me. The chilled lump crab and fresh avocado on top of slices of heirloom tomatoes with a drizzle of basil puree is beyond refreshing! Love the chilled knife it's served with. The Maine Lobster Escargot topped with caviar is an interesting appetizer. It's their twist on traditional escargot. It's very rich but worth trying at least once as it's very unique. You also can't go wrong with the Chicken Fried Lobster Tails. They taste exactly how they sound and come with a green chili aioli. They have a Wood Roasted Shellfish section on the menu. We liked their mussels. The sauce is so flavorful...caramelized onions and white wine. It's a large portion that could easily be an entree. My favorite is the Chilean Seabass or sometimes they have a Striped Bass on special. Both are prepared perfectly. The Seabass cuts like butter. The Stripped Bass is flaky and comes topped with Lump Crab, it's delicious. I also love their Scallops, they melt in your mouth. My husband loves their steaks. He likes the NY Strip and Filet Mignon, but the Wagyu was his favorite because it's so rich and savory. What's awesome is you can add anything to any dish, a few scallops or a crab cake to make it surf and turf. Siegfried's Au Gratin Potatoes as a side are a must! The caramelized onions and gouda cheese is next level! The Corn Crème Brûlée is outstanding. It's sweet and has a golden brown caramelized sugar crust topping. The Wild Mushrooms are another favorite and so is the fire roasted cauliflower. Our top three desserts are the Warm Vanilla Carmel Cake, Key lime Pie, and the Coconut Cream Pie. They also have a Benign Tree that comes with dipping sauces. It's a fun way to present dessert if you're dinning with multiple people. Ocean 44 is impressive, serves high quality food, and is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. We no longer go every month as our "Date Night for a Year" ended, but we still go on special occasions. read more

I love Ocean 44! I've dined here many times, most recently for my best friend's birthday. The restaurant was super accommodating to our large party of 10 and we had dedicated staff who made sure we had an amazing time and that drinks kept flowing! Rojo was our main waiter and he was wonderful. The food was impeccable I highly reccomend the Lobster Rolls, Escargot, Seared Scallops, Linguini with Clams and andy of their delectable steaks! They provided us with a delicious desert on the house which was a sharable beingnet tree! Is it pricey? Yes absolutely! Made a reservation for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were well taken cared of. I can see why so many people choose Ocean 44 for special occasions. I appreciate that they were able to accommodate our request for a quiet table/area. We felt like we had our own dining room and we had an awesome side view of the kitchen. Michael and his team were so friendly and hospitable. It makes us uncomfortable to be given so much attention but it was definitely appreciated. You can tell that there is an emphasis on fine dining and elevating the guest experience. The complimentary bread was delicious. I could have easily ate it all but was really refraining myself from filling up on it. We tried a variety of items from the menu. The stand outs were the Colossal Shrimp cocktail, Woodfired Mussels, and Chilean Seabass, all perfectly cooked. Micheal treated us to our choice of dessert and their Triple Layer Key Lime Pie didn't disappoint. Definitely worth every bite and calorie. The loveliest anniversary dinner experience! It's a beautiful, elevated, and elegant space inside with a solid menu of seafood options. We were seated in the booth area that had skylights which made the ambiance extra nice. Servers were attentive and always on top of asking if we wanted items boxed to-go before the next round of food came out. What we ate: *Bread rolls - buttery, delicious, and I wanted to eat two but one was already so filling! *New England lobster rolls - one of the tastiest lobster rolls I've ever had. Lobster was fresh, meaty, and paired well with the microgreens. *Rhode Island calamari & shrimp - my boyfriend's least favorite out of everything because there were no tentacle pieces, but we still liked it (especially the marinara sauce). *Chilean Sea Bass - generous portion of the most light but buttery sea bass (we shared this). The crust was incredible. *Corn Creme Brulee - almost like a dessert or sweet version of korean corn cheese but with the tastiest layer of crispy brown sugar on top! *Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake - we were so full and couldn't finish it. Coming from the PNW, I don't know why but seafood in Arizona has always made me question how fresh they are. I'm so happy to say I found a place that knows their seafood well. Ocean 44 is one of my favorite places to go for a date night, family dinner or simply to eat good. Their service is attentive and everything is delicious! We ordered some cocktail shrimp and oysters as appetizers. The oysters are probably the best I've had. Ofc their bread service is divine. We took some home bc we couldn't finish it and they hold up well after the microwave! For entree we chose the sea bass and filet with sides of cream brulee corn (that's one my favorite side here) and bacon chunks between brussels sprouts. The service was that of a 5 star restaurant. The servers were all very attentive and knowledgeable. They were very quick and professional. The steak farina (bone in filet with egg). I was disappointed because i thought the steak was coated in the egg, not a breakfast egg. The description on the menu was not clear. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare. The bone in really gives the filet even more flavor. The ribeye was also very good. The melted fat paired well with the meat. We got the potatoes au gratin. It was great, the potatoes were tender and creamy. The corn crème brulee was better than expected. It was sweet and buttery. The creamed spinach was not very special but still good. The shells + cheese were my favorite! You could taste the different cheeses that they put into it. The meat balls were good but lacked flavor and were on the drier side. We did not get enough sauce, but it was so hot (temperature) it burned your mouth and also lacked flavor. Between the oreo gelato cake and the vanilla caramel cake, our favorite was the vanilla caramel cake. The oreo gelato cake, had some crystals on it like it was freezer burnt. The caramel cake was warm and sweet. The vanilla ice cream paired well with it. The nuts on top were too much and overly sweet. When we left, we had lots of left overs. I asked them to pack them all up, and they did not. We only got half our food. Our meal was very expensive. When we ordered an old fashioned, we were not informed that the whiskey they used was 25 year aged, and $100 up charge. The place had some romantic ambiance and was too dark for our liking. You essentially, eat your food in the dark with a small table light, thus the quality of the photos. Overall i probably wouldn't go back here. The hype is too much for this place. Food is very much over priced. And i am all about paying for good quality food. read more

Came for my birthday 05-01-26 excited to celebrate and enjoy the rest of my day but unfortunately an accident occurred while dining in where my white wine spilled all over on me by an employee when removing utensils we didn't use I believe (happened so fast) i was upset because I thought my day was ruined but I didn't really let it get to me as I get it wasn't intentional , apologies from the manager soon after. Was a great, filling meal. Would return. Steak was cooked perfectly and their au poivre sauce is to die for- the best i've had yet. I had the filet mignon and a side of creamed spinach. Had dinner here yesterday around 6:30. Very nice place with friendly staff. Love the ambiance. Dark and gives off romantic vibes. I've been in once before but only had a cocktail and one appetizer that time since I didn't want to eat too much before going out with the girls. Our order: Sparkling water $10 Cucumber Guava cocktail $17 Extra Dirty Martini w/ blue cheese olives x2 (comped) Blue Point Oysters 1/2 dozen $30 Hawaiian Yellowtail Crudo $38 Little Neck Clams $32 My drink was good. I subbed it with rum instead of vodka. Oysters weren't bad. It came with 5 different sauces plus a mini green and red Tobasco. I mainly used the horseradish, vinaigrette, and whatever the green one is! Little Neck Clams were a bit gritty so we didn't finish that and they comped his 2 drinks for it. The Hawaiian Yellowtail Crudo was amazing!! I could eat like 5 orders of those. He got sick of seafood and started craving a burger so we ended up not ordering entrees here. I felt bad for our waitress because we were unsure on entrees but she was patient and checked back on us often. Excellent service! For starters, we are big fans of Ocean 48 so we had high expectations but knew they wouldn't let us down and they absolutely did not disappoint! This is a very classy and ambient restaurant totally perfect for date night. Firstly our waiter, Ryan, was splendid and truly anticipated any need we had as soon as we sat down. We had to start with their martinis since they know how to make them to perfection. We then went with the Wagyu Beef tartare (7/10), oysters 10/10), Chilean Sea Bass (8/10h and the Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi (6/10). We finished off the decadent beignets (+ a couple espresso martinis) and now understand why they're the #1 dessert on the menu!! Special recognition to their complimentary croissant bread as it's one of our favorites and they were beyond delicious (as per usual). The manager, Matt, was also a highlight of our experience being supremely present and checking on us a couple times before we left for the evening. Overall HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place and although it is on the pricier side I find it worth every zero. read more

What went well? Everything! Absolutely Outstanding! Oceans 44 continues to impress every time I go. While the seafood is always top-notch -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared -- I have to say the steak has been just as incredible the last two times I've been there. Perfectly cooked, tender, no leftovers. What really makes the experience stand out though, is the service. Our waiter was exceptional -- genuinely attentive, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what he does. He took the time to listen to what everyone at the table liked and tailored his food and wine recommendations perfectly for each person. You could tell he truly cared about making our night special.
