I wish I could give Ocean 44 a 4.5-star rating because the food was fantastic, but a few service bumps kept it from being a flawless 5-star experience. We are big fans of their sister restaurants, so we were really excited to try this location! To start, my husband was thrilled with the bread service. It is very unique and reminded us of a fancy Pillsbury croissant. We skipped taking pictures of the appetizers because we dove right in, but the meatballs were delicious and the colossal shrimp cocktail was great. The shrimp are ordered à la carte, so I chose to get three of them. For drinks, my husband loved his spicy mezcal margarita. I had the pineapple mezcal margarita, which was good, but it wasn't very pineapple-like despite me asking for it to be. For the mains, my husband had an off-menu Wagyu strip with sides of broccoli and fries, which he really enjoyed. I had the linguini and clams, which I was super excited about. The clams were very good, though unfortunately not the best I've ever had. I actually found myself wishing I had ordered a steak with a seafood topper for a surf-and-turf situation instead, but overall it was still really great. The only reason I wouldn't give this a full 5 stars is because the service was a little shaky at first. There were several times right at the beginning where we needed our server and she was nowhere to be found. Interestingly, the restaurant got much busier later into our dinner, but the service gaps happened at the start when it was still slow. We booked this restaurant for my daughter's birthday, and they truly made the evening feel special. The customer service was 10/10 from start to finish. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. The food was phenomenal, and we left beyond satisfied. We have dined at many upscale steakhouses, and these were some of the best steaks we've ever had. We started with the shrimp cocktail, where you order each shrimp individually. It was worth every penny. The seafood is flown in fresh daily, and the shrimp were large, tender, and incredibly fresh. The horseradish and cocktail sauce were the perfect complement and absolutely delectable. They also offer an excellent wine list with great selections to pair with your meal. The ambiance is elegant and upscale while still feeling warm and inviting. While waiting for our entrées, they brought out a pan of buttery, flaky rolls that were impossible to resist. My daughter and I both ordered the 8 ounce filet, while my husband had the Caesar salad and meatballs. Every dish was savory, flavorful, and mouthwatering. The steaks practically melted in your mouth and were perfectly tender. The buttered corn was hands down one of the best side dishes, and the Brussel sprouts did not disappoint either. We also ordered the scalloped gouda potatoes, and the portions were generous enough for the entire table to share. The three of us even had leftovers for the next day. To top off the celebration, they had my daughter choose a complimentary birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Celebrated a friend's birthday here. All of the staff were friendly from the hostess to our server Danny who took care of us. Our table was clean and our waters were kept full. Dimly lit restaurant with moderate noise level. We started with the crispy shrimp which was so flavorful and crispy. You can never go wrong with calamari, which was solid and delicious, love the peppers. I drank the coastal rita which was a refreshing margarita, would definitely order again. For my entree I got the 12oz filet mignon with the brussel sprouts as a side (which is served in a way meant to be shared.) The filet is served on a 500° plate so it continues cooking . I prefer medium well so it was a lil too pinkish initially but eventually got there. Tasted great though! Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well! We have dined here for date nights, as well as special occasions. It is/was one of my favorites in Phoenix. I typically can say it's a 5*. This time it was closer to 3.5*, but I'm rounding up since it is typically better than it was the night we went recently. Pros 1. Beautiful decor and luxurious vibe 2. Most of the staff is professional Cons 1. About 1/3 of the oysters were not shucked well and had shell and/or sand on them. 2. Music that didn't fit the vibe. I forget what was playing but it seemed like dentist's office music. It was bad enough to notice that it was something that seemed out of place. 3. The young guys who served the sides seemed high. They plopped the food on our plates and had it dripping and extremely messy on the sides of the serving dishes. Tender.. flavorful.. a quick of spice.. well balanced. Still day dreaming of it My wife and I did think the presentation of the surf and turf could be improved as well as the seasoning for the steak. The steak did need salt. Maybe a chimichuri sauce to dip would be good for this one just because it was a little dry (we ordered medium-rare) However!!!! The LOBSTER?? The bisque had a decent underlying flavor but was sooooo salty that it was absolutely inedible, the shrimp were overcooked and seemed sort of stale as well. The menu offers lots of appetizer, potato and vegetable side options. (The only thing I would mention is that the Torched Scallop appetizer is just that - torched only so they are raw scallops.) I decided to come here and enjoy a couple of appetizers and a glass of wine after my hair appointment at Sachi. I did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat anyway. However, I was told that I needed to be done by 6:45. That was fine because I arrived at about 415 so they gave me plenty of time to eat. One of my girlfriends also joined me as well and as usual, we sat at the bar. The bartenders were fantastic....very personable with great customer service. I can't remember the female's name, but she made a wonderful spicy margarita for me. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the lobster escargot, and I wasn't a fan of it. It had a mornay sauce that was more like a soufflé, and I just felt that that over-powered the lobster. Also, it was way more mornay sauce than lobster. It did have a little bit of caviar on the top but again that was lost because of all of the Mornay sauce. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller with a side of a couple of scallops. Both the scallops and the oysters Rockefeller were fantastic! In fact, the next time I go, I will definitely order that for an entree. My husband and I won "Date Night for a Year" at Ocean 44 during the auction portion of the Fresh Start Gala at the Phoenician Resort. We had the privilege of dining at Ocean 44 every month for a year, such an awesome experience. We pretty much know the menu inside and out. The service at Ocean 44 is excellent and the food is fantastic. They give you cards on special occasions, call the next day to see how the meal was. They bring warm damp scented towels between courses to clean your hands. Since we dined every month they knew our cocktail order before we sat down. Everything about Ocean 44 is five star! We usually requested a table with a view of the kitchen because it was more private, quieter, and fun to watch the back of the house do their thing. A few times we requested the room with the "trees." We liked the ambiance in that space as well. We liked to start with their Oysters. Always a great selection. Fresh, clean, and we love the accompaniments they serve with them, perfection! The Heirloom Tomato and King Crab is a stand out appetizer for me. The chilled lump crab and fresh avocado on top of slices of heirloom tomatoes with a drizzle of basil puree is beyond refreshing! Love the chilled knife it's served with. The Maine Lobster Escargot topped with caviar is an interesting appetizer. It's their twist on traditional escargot. It's very rich but worth trying at least once as it's very unique. You also can't go wrong with the Chicken Fried Lobster Tails. They taste exactly how they sound and come with a green chili aioli. They have a Wood Roasted Shellfish section on the menu. We liked their mussels. The sauce is so flavorful...caramelized onions and white wine. It's a large portion that could easily be an entree. My favorite is the Chilean Seabass or sometimes they have a Striped Bass on special. Both are prepared perfectly. The Seabass cuts like butter. The Stripped Bass is flaky and comes topped with Lump Crab, it's delicious. I also love their Scallops, they melt in your mouth. My husband loves their steaks. He likes the NY Strip and Filet Mignon, but the Wagyu was his favorite because it's so rich and savory. What's awesome is you can add anything to any dish, a few scallops or a crab cake to make it surf and turf. Siegfried's Au Gratin Potatoes as a side are a must! The caramelized onions and gouda cheese is next level! The Corn Crème Brûlée is outstanding. It's sweet and has a golden brown caramelized sugar crust topping. The Wild Mushrooms are another favorite and so is the fire roasted cauliflower. Our top three desserts are the Warm Vanilla Carmel Cake, Key lime Pie, and the Coconut Cream Pie. They also have a Benign Tree that comes with dipping sauces. It's a fun way to present dessert if you're dinning with multiple people. Ocean 44 is impressive, serves high quality food, and is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. For starters, we are big fans of Ocean 48 so we had high expectations but knew they wouldn't let us down and they absolutely did not disappoint! This is a very classy and ambient restaurant totally perfect for date night. Firstly our waiter, Ryan, was splendid and truly anticipated any need we had as soon as we sat down. We had to start with their martinis since they know how to make them to perfection. We then went with the Wagyu Beef tartare (7/10), oysters 10/10), Chilean Sea Bass (8/10h and the Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi (6/10). We finished off the decadent beignets (+ a couple espresso martinis) and now understand why they're the #1 dessert on the menu!! Special recognition to their complimentary croissant bread as it's one of our favorites and they were beyond delicious (as per usual). The manager, Matt, was also a highlight of our experience being supremely present and checking on us a couple times before we left for the evening. The restaurant was super accommodating to our large party of 10 and we had dedicated staff who made sure we had an amazing time and that drinks kept flowing! Made a reservation for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were well taken cared of. I can see why so many people choose Ocean 44 for special occasions. I appreciate that they were able to accommodate our request for a quiet table/area. We felt like we had our own dining room and we had an awesome side view of the kitchen. Michael and his team were so friendly and hospitable. It makes us uncomfortable to be given so much attention but it was definitely appreciated. You can tell that there is an emphasis on fine dining and elevating the guest experience. The complimentary bread was delicious. I could have easily ate it all but was really refraining myself from filling up on it. We tried a variety of items from the menu. The stand outs were the Colossal Shrimp cocktail, Woodfired Mussels, and Chilean Seabass, all perfectly cooked. We were seated in the booth area that had skylights which made the ambiance extra nice. Servers were attentive and always on top of asking if we wanted items boxed to-go before the next round of food came out. What we ate: *Bread rolls - buttery, delicious, and I wanted to eat two but one was already so filling! *New England lobster rolls - one of the tastiest lobster rolls I've ever had. Lobster was fresh, meaty, and paired well with the microgreens. *Rhode Island calamari & shrimp - my boyfriend's least favorite out of everything because there were no tentacle pieces, but we still liked it (especially the marinara sauce). *Chilean Sea Bass - generous portion of the most light but buttery sea bass (we shared this). The crust was incredible. *Corn Creme Brulee - almost like a dessert or sweet version of korean corn cheese but with the tastiest layer of crispy brown sugar on top! *Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake - we were so full and couldn't finish it. This was my first time at Ocean 44, a 16-year wedding anniversary dinner courtesy of Mr P. We made reservations ahead of time, and did not have any wait for our table. There was a very nice ambiance throughout the restaurant, and I appreciated that the music was a mixture that seemed to be a Gen X construct. We were jamming. Or in the vein of Bob Marley or Club Nouveau, "We be jammin'". The staff who served us throughout the night was top notch. Every fork was replaced on queue with empty plates whisked away and empty cups promptly filled. Our main server was a delightful ginger named Joe. (I'm allowed to say that because I too am a ginger). He was more than knowledgeable regarding the menu and beverages and accoutrement to best accompany entrees. We were checked on the perfect amount of times, and courses we're impeccably paced. When our beverages arrived, so did warm, buttery croissant style bread, and both an anniversary card and birthday card for Mr P, proving the incredible hospitality of the restaurant, as well as a truly individualized experience. This rang true at the end as well, when a surprise cake was packaged for us at the conclusion of our dinner, compliments of the restaurant. I will also jump ahead and add that we received a phone call the very next afternoon, making sure that we had a wonderful experience and welcoming any feedback that we may have. We began with the 2 piece caviar cones. I had never had caviar before, so I wasn't sure what it tasted like. It was pleasant, though I didn't taste the expected fishiness of a caviar at all. In fact, I thought it slightly overpowered by the petite green onion on top. But overall pleasant. We also added the Wood-Fired Spanish octopus. This was absolutely delightful! The octopus was cooked perfectly, with a great woody flavor. The fingerling potatoes and roasted cherry tomatoes were a perfect complement. For my main entree, I chose the New Bedford scallops, with a special of the day, the chicken fried lobster tail as an accompaniment. Both were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly as well. There was a green chili aioli to compliment the lobster that was to die for. Mr. P got the pepper-crusted tuna, which he absolutely loved. He added to this an 8 oz, petite wagyu filet. I am not a red meat eater, but this was seasoned and cooked perfectly rare, with a crust on top that was magnificent. For the table, we ordered two sides: a wild mushroom arrangement, and a sweet corn brulee. Both were absolutely worth writing home about. The sweet corn was exactly what it sounds like - a creme brulee that just happened to be like a creamed corn. It was so very good. Needless to say, we needed a box to take home a good amount of this meal. We did opt for dessert, from which we chose a simple berry mixture with cream. All of the berries were sweet and ripe, and the cream was delicate yet hearty and not at all oily. I happen to wash this down with a delightful cappuccino. This was a pricy meal, but it was one that was planned for for not one, but two special occasions, making for a great date night. I can't gush enough about our server Joe and his assistants. The service was that of a 5 star restaurant. The servers were all very attentive and knowledgeable. They were very quick and professional. The steak farina (bone in filet with egg). I was disappointed because i thought the steak was coated in the egg, not a breakfast egg. The description on the menu was not clear. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare. The bone in really gives the filet even more flavor. The ribeye was also very good. The melted fat paired well with the meat. We got the potatoes au gratin. It was great, the potatoes were tender and creamy. The corn crème brulee was better than expected. It was sweet and buttery. The creamed spinach was not very special but still good. The shells + cheese were my favorite! You could taste the different cheeses that they put into it. The meat balls were good but lacked flavor and were on the drier side. We did not get enough sauce, but it was so hot (temperature) it burned your mouth and also lacked flavor. Between the oreo gelato cake and the vanilla caramel cake, our favorite was the vanilla caramel cake. The oreo gelato cake, had some crystals on it like it was freezer burnt. The caramel cake was warm and sweet. The vanilla ice cream paired well with it. The nuts on top were too much and overly sweet. When we left, we had lots of left overs. I asked them to pack them all up, and they did not. We only got half our food. Our meal was very expensive. When we ordered an old fashioned, we were not informed that the whiskey they used was 25 year aged, and $100 up charge. The place had some romantic ambiance and was too dark for our liking. You essentially, eat your food in the dark with a small table light, thus the quality of the photos. Overall i probably wouldn't go back here. The hype is too much for this place. I've been in once before but only had a cocktail and one appetizer that time since I didn't want to eat too much before going out with the girls. Our order: Sparkling water $10 Cucumber Guava cocktail $17 Extra Dirty Martini w/ blue cheese olives x2 (comped) Blue Point Oysters 1/2 dozen $30 Hawaiian Yellowtail Crudo $38 Little Neck Clams $32 My drink was good. I subbed it with rum instead of vodka. Oysters weren't bad. It came with 5 different sauces plus a mini green and red Tobasco. I mainly used the horseradish, vinaigrette, and whatever the green one is! Little Neck Clams were a bit gritty so we didn't finish that and they comped his 2 drinks for it. The Hawaiian Yellowtail Crudo was amazing!! I could eat like 5 orders of those. He got sick of seafood and started craving a burger so we ended up not ordering entrees here. Our waiter was exceptional -- genuinely attentive, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what he does. He took the time to listen to what everyone at the table liked and tailored his food and wine recommendations perfectly for each person. You could tell he truly cared about making our night special. Ocean 44 is a beautiful fine dining option for seafood right in Fashion Square. There is plenty of parking and optional valet. When you walk in there is a full view of the raw bar & fresh seafood options. The staff is great and provided us some great recommendations on sauces and toppings. My favorite was the Chilean Sea Bass and had a soft tender texture with an amazing seasoning charred into the fish. The Mac and cheese side was delicious, I would eat this side everyday if I could. The other side I hadn't had before was the Corn Crème Brûlée. Very interesting mix of sweet corn and the sugar topping. We also had a filet mignon that was cooked perfect to our liking and went well with the black truffle green peppercorn sauce. read more

The service was exceptional, the branzino was delicate and perfectly seasoned, and the ambiance was romantic. The only improvement I would like to see is music choice. They played 80s hits. I would have liked jazz or French acoustic music. read more

This is our second time here and it was just as amazing as the first time . We started with shrimp Vince, shrimp cocktail and calamari . The appetizers where cook perfectly !! For our entrees we order the 46 oz wagu tomahawk hands down best steak of my life . For sides we did the broccoli, cream corn and Mac and cheese we enjoyed the all. We ended with a benight tree and cappuccino. The staff is top notch the ambiance running . Most importantly I left feeling tonight was with every dollar we spent . The ambiance of the restaurant was really elegant. The waiting staff was very kind and attentive. we had a part lot of 15 for a company dinner and ordered family style with a variety of different selection of steaks and seafood for the table to share. If you love seafood this is the place to be! Pretty much every dish had a hint of seafood. The mash potatoes and mac and cheese were infused with shrimp or lobster. read more

My favorite place in town really, we always have the pleasure of having Michael serve us. He's amazing and always brings me flowers for me to take. He makes sure everything is perfect, the best service. The restaurant itself it's beautiful and don't even let me get started on the food. From the stakes to the sides, we always get the mash potatoes and the cream brûlée corn. Truly I come for the caviar cones which are the best appetizer in the world (to me). read more
