First and foremost, the food and drinks were fantastic at LP. I only give 1 star because our server was so rude and condescending that it ruined our entire meal. Went there Tuesday night (2/24/26) for dinner with my girlfriends. My 4th time there. I recommended LP to my friends, because of good food and innovative cocktails. It was their 1st time at LP. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated in the patio pass-through bar incorporating indoor/outdoor seating and overlooking the street. It was a pleasant night, but there's not much lighting on the patio as dusk turned into night, so reading the menus meant whipping out the cell phones. The cocktail menu has many options, very descriptive with house-made ingredients, and the name of each cocktail is like a play on words. My friends and I were excited and wanting to try them all. By the time our server came to take our drink order, we had put our phone lights away and forgotten what our drinks were called, so we had to refer back to the menu in the dark to be reminded what our drinks were called. Two of us apparently misstated the name of the cocktails, which did not go over well with the server. My cocktail was called "AM (a minor)," so I told the server I wanted the "am a minor." She looked confused, so I had to open the menu and show her. She said to me curtly, "That drink is called 'a minor,' this is the second time you guys have given me the wrong name for the drink, so I didn't know what you were talking about." I mean, really? You didn't know which cocktail when I told you "am a minor," which is a literal reading of what is printed on the menu? And even if I didn't get that play on words, "AM (a minor)" means "a minor," you couldn't figure it out? Either your server is not familiar with your menu or the range of her deductive reasoning is the size of my pinky toe. Nevertheless, my friend apologized to her (when no apology was warranted) and explained the misreading was due to the lack of lighting and we didn't want to keep our phone lights on and bother the other customers. Then our server snapped back that "LP is like a speakeasy, so it's suppose to be dark." WTF? Her tone was condescending and the excuse she pulled out of her butt for the lack of lighting shows her naivety. I mean, we are literally sitting outside facing the street and she thinks it's "like a speakeasy." I couldn't believe someone so dumb was talking down to us. But I kept my mouth shut, not wanting to ruin our girl's night. The bartender brought over our drinks and we waited another 30 minutes before we had to flag down our server to let her know we were ready to order. When we did, she snapped, "I'm coming. Can't you see we are busy." By that point, whatever appetite I had for dinner was gone. The bartender or manager came over to ask if we were enjoying our dinner, and I unleashed (calmly and diplomatically, of course) and told him I really didn't care to see or talk to our server for the rest of our dinner. Fortunately, he ensured that other servers saw to us for the rest of our dinner. $400+ for dinner, tipping 20% on food+tax+3%credit card fee, and I'm still having PTSD over being treated so rudely. I don't think I can go back. I will spend my adult money elsewhere. read more
