The decor matches perfectly, and if you get too cold, they have blankets available for you to wrap yourself with. It was a particularly busy night, which I can see why they need reservations. However, it's still did not give excuse for why the food was not up to par. My rice was extremely cold, and it felt like it had been sitting out for a while and my shrimp, thought cooked perfectly, was not of temperature as if it was just made. The tacos were honestly laughable at $44, with portions that felt very small for what you're paying. The rice was undercooked, which was disappointing, and overall the food quality didn't justify the cost. The seating arrangements were also uncomfortable, and the music was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation and enjoy the company of the people at your table. As soon as you enter you're blown away by the production. It looks like you're in the jungle with cool upbeat music but without being too overpowering. A woman was doing the coolest fire dancing I've ever seen with someone else doing live guitar solos. The food was all amazing and so much of it was very truffle forward. I've been to Toca Madera multiple times, and I personally don't usually feel that the food is worth the price. This visit was for brunch, which starts with cornbread and butter when you're seated. I didn't love it, as it had whole corn kernels baked into it. I know some people enjoy that style, but it wasn't my preference. I ordered the sashimi next, which was one of the best dishes of the meal and truly melted in my mouth. I also tried the wagyu wonton tacos. I didn't find them particularly special, though my friend enjoyed them a lot. The Mexican chop salad with salmon was one of the best salads I've had by far, but the salmon itself was a bit dry. Lastly, I ordered the street tacos. The carne asada was very good, while the sea bass was just okay. Service was excellent. Our server frequently checked on us, helped explain menu items, and the bussers were constantly refilling our water. The ambiance is fun and lively, with lots of windows and natural light. However, the music is always very loud, which is usually why I don't go often. It can be hard to hear conversations. Toca Madera is unlike any restaurant I've been to -- fire performances, a live DJ, stunning ambiance. It genuinely feels like a Las Vegas Strip experience right in Scottsdale. The A5 Wagyu tacos ($37 for two) absolutely lived up to the hype -- smoky, perfectly layered, and worth every penny. The 18 oz ribeye was incredible and the Mexican street corn is a must-order side. Skip the branzino and just go for the steak! A few things fell short though -- we called multiple times about the fire show schedule and kept going to voicemail, water refills were nonexistent all night, and our leftovers came out in a plain box with no bag. Small details, but noticeable at this price point. Pro tip: book ahead, dress code IS enforced, and catch the fire show starting at 7 PM! I would recommend reservations if you want to go, on the Friday night they were turning people away or offering a very long wait. It is a bit difficult to review. The ambiance is fantastic, the restaurant is low lite, and beautifully decorated. They also had a fire performance. The margaritas are great, and they offer many variations, we each tried a different one. The food is great, but we did not find it great enough to justify the price point. The service was also not great. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, it was towards the end that it was an issue. While I understand they are busy, this is a nice restaurant, we should not have to wait a noticeable amount of time to get the check or pay. We attended this upscale restaurant for my friends birthday and had an amazing time. Another friend stated it took a little work to get the reservation with the time difference from the East coast. We were there on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was packed. It's beautiful and stylish decor. There were so many places to get some beautiful pics. We welcomed and treated very well by staff during our dinner celebration. They had live entertainment with the fire dancer which was cool to watch while eating. Everyone in out group ordered something different which i love so we could sample each others food. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. The table consisted of seafood and chicken meals. I ordered the chicken al pastor with black beans, street corn and truffle mac and cheese. My meal was delicious and I was able to take home a goody bag. I'd give this place 3.5 out of 5 stars. We came here for a bachelorette dinner with a group of 9 and made a 10:00 PM reservation online. We were seated around 10:10, and our waitress was honestly great; attentive, personable, and very kind throughout the night. Service on her end was not the issue at all. However, shortly after being seated, we were informed that the kitchen would be closing at 10:30. This was never indicated when I made the reservation, and had we known, we absolutely would have booked an earlier time or chosen a different spot altogether. We were actually considering an 11:00 PM reservation initially, so hearing this after the fact was frustrating. Because of the time constraint, our group felt rushed to order. Some of the girls ended up not ordering at all because they didn't feel comfortable making a quick decision on $40+ entrees without really looking through the menu. It definitely took away from what should have been a fun, celebratory experience. The food we did order was great, and again, our waitress did her best to accommodate us despite the situation. But overall, that lack of transparency around kitchen hours really killed the vibe for the night. For a $600 bill, we were hoping for a more relaxed experience where we could actually enjoy and explore the menu. I'd consider coming back, but only with a much earlier reservation, and with the expectation set upfront. read more

Amazing place for a date night! While I stuck with my tried and true dirty martini and was not disappointed, my partner ordered the mi serrana cocktail. The cucumber gave it the right amount of cool while the Serrano pepper gave it a little kick. We started with the guacamole and calamari. Both were delicious and flavorful. As an entree we decided on the American Wagyu flaming tomahawk. The tableside presentation was amazing! The steak was perfectly prepared, juicy and melt-in-your-mouth. Now for the sides. The seasonal vegetables were steamed and lightly seasoned. The truffle manchego fries had just the right amount our truffle oil and truffle hot sauce so soaked up the flavor yet still remained crispy. The whipped potatoes with jalapeño oil were delicate and a great addition to the meal. I'm looking forward to experiencing all that this fabulous place has to offer! read more

TikTok hyped this location so bad. Went on Tuesday for the taco Tuesday night. We were sat ALL THE WAY in the back (restaurant was 30% full). Ordered drinks and food and then afterwards we remembered to ask the waitress what happened with the taco night menu...she then stated "oh we only give it to you if you ask", SMH! Food came out, I give the macaroni and salmon both 2/10. Sauce on the salmon had this weird expired tarte taste. The guacamole & chips were the only thing that was 10/10! We also asked her about the dancer w/ the fire. The dancer came out 15 mins later and danced for 2 mins in the same box area on the video, no exaggeration! Last week was my first time trying this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. I ordered the short rib enchiladas, but when they arrived, they were barely warm. We were in Arizona for a bachelor's trip and eating here was on our to-do-list as soon as we started planning the trip. You can just tell as soon as you walk into this place that it is classy. The room was very bright and everyone was fun and friendly. They were even doing some sort of photo shoot with models at a table near us. We offered to give our services by posing for photos but they respectful declined . Bathroom rating: six stars. Now to the food. Just look at the pictures! Nothing is a miss on this menu. But the one thing we ordered that I didn't get a good picture of was the random cheese. Fried cheese. Just a bowl of cheese. Order it. Everything else was good too. We got cornbread for the table and this is the best cornbread I've ever had. I could hear the table next to me sipping their drink lol. The Wagyu tacos should've been called mini tacos. As they truly are tiny! 1-2 bits tops. And our steak was severely undercooked. I like medium rare and can tolerate rare, however it came out blue. Their brown butter cake however was absolutely outstanding! The service was also phenomenal. I really wanted to love this place, especially considering how exceptionally the LA location delivers. While the Scottsdale location is SIGNIFICANTLY larger, the service and food are lacking. We came as a group of 9 as a bachelorette party (complying with all the dress codes of the restaurant), while still hoping to make our late lunch special and celebratory. The hostess barely cared to regard this, and the waiter didn't deliver either despite openly acknowledging our bride. I asked multiple times for fire shots and other festive things for the table as a surprise for the bride, but ended up with just a brownie with a scoop of ice cream at the end. The worst part is they didn't even clear our table or bring new serveware before dessert. As for the food, the guac lacks seasoning and citrus all together. The ceviche is AWFUL - the fish is far from fresh and leaves a bitter aftertaste in your mouth. The dish also lacks seasoning and lime and everything else you'd expect from a ceviche. It honestly spoiled my appetite for the rest of the day, even just after one bite. The drinks, chips and salsa are solid. I also enjoyed the music playing in the background. However, I ultimately expected much better food and service from a restaurant of this caliber. They have fire shows at 3-4 different times in the evenings, so if you do choose to check this restaurant out, I recommend doing so for dinner and not brunch. This place seems like the "hot spot" in town and popular amongst the younger crowd. I loved that everyone came dressed to impress to go with the ambiance. The front door staff were polite and welcoming and we were able to get seated fairly quickly. I wish I had come in with a bigger appetite because I didn't really have the capacity to try the items I wanted to. I went with the Sea-bass tacos and it was so good. It was seasoned so well that you didn't need much for decoration. I ate mine without the crema. I was actually surprised at how thick the taco was, so two was the perfect serving size. Our waiter gave several recommendations and did not steer us wrong. I love when that happens. I was able to try the Branzino. I thought it was prepared perfectly.
