One of the hottest spots in Scottsdale. Visited on a Saturday night with a friend. This would be the perfect spot for a bachelorette party or a large dinner. There are still plenty of tables for two, but they are tucked to the side. To start, they serve these amazing chips with salsa. There's some spice or salt which makes it so addictive. While looking at our menus we saw the fire dancer perform which was so fun. To drink, I first tried the Pillow Talk martini. It is light and not super fruity served in a whiskey type glass. I was confused since I'd imagined a cute martini glass. Not what I expected, so our server was very kind and replaced it with a recommendation. The second drink I tried was White Lies which is similar to a lychee martini/hugo spritz. I loved this drink. For our mains, we both tried the enchiladas. The short rib was perfectly cooked and super soft. You're able to choose between red and green sauce. It comes with a side of rice and beans. Really yummy enchiladas, but smaller than I expected. We had a great time at Toca Madera. It's such a unique spot that I would recommend. I'd also note that the menu changed within the past few months with price increases, so photos of the menu aren't accurate so check their website. Great spot to try in Scottsdale.

Me and my girls had so many high hopes for this spot during our girls trip to Scottsdale. We were highly disappointed. This review is based on the service alone, which dictated our whole experience. It trumped everything and we honestly left vowing to never go back. Let me first start by saying that we had a 6:45 pm reservation and arrived 10 mins early. We weren't seated until 7 pm. That don't bother us as much. The restaurant was beautiful and we just knew we were about to have a great experience. We ordered drinks and noticed the waitress was just ok. We overlooked it and ordered our food. Some of the food was incorrect, so we notified our waitress. While explaining what the issue was, she basically cut us off and asked if we wanted something else or the same dish. We made it clear that we wanted something else. She was clearly agitated, Snatched the plate from my friend and walked off. She the came back to the table to explain that the dish she wanted to order would cost more...as if we didn't know that. It's almost as if she was insinuating we could not afford it. That was an instant turnoff. We stopped eating and my friend requested that the chef not even make the plate. On top of that, when we confronted her about her attitude, there was no apology or anything from her. We were done. On top of that, my enchiladas were just "ok". Highly disappointed experience. If I had her name, I'd absolutely name drop it here!

We recently returned here to meet up with some friends out of town, as I knew their vibe was right along with this place. Even on a Sunday at 8 PM. The place was fully packed, and the entertainment and vibe were as expected, as if it was a Saturday night. As for food, we all tried different margaritas to start, and we decided to split and share the calamari and guacamole, and indulge on the chips and salsa. The chips, however, were very, very salty. Everyone commented on that, and it felt like the salsa that was served with it could've been better. It was 'soupy' and non-inviting. It definitely needed some more tomato base to add some overall thickness to the dish. We had multiple servers, which was good, as one focused on drinks and the other focused on food, but it was like day and night between the two so it was a little hard to keep track of things that we were ordered & placed, and at times it was overwhelming as we felt pressured 2 mins to place a drink or food order. As far as the main courses, a lot of us focused on 4 tacos entrée and different sides across the board... Kale salad, Street corn, the Broccolini, and Cilantro Lime Rice. Of course, we went with some fire shots to sync with the vibe that was going on, but we did have a couple near misses where I thought the fire was gonna set somebody's head on fire like Michael Jackson. Always enjoy the vibe... however, I felt the attention to detail and personal touch was lacking for us that night. Looking forward to a better experience moving forward

The place was vibrant and amazing. The fire dancer with the guitar player. Really gives the energy and atmosphere of being in a Tulum restaurant in the middle of Mexico. The decor matches perfectly, and if you get too cold, they have blankets available for you to wrap yourself with. It was a particularly busy night, which I can see why they need reservations. However, it's still did not give excuse for why the food was not up to par. My rice was extremely cold, and it felt like it had been sitting out for a while and my shrimp, thought cooked perfectly, was not of temperature as if it was just made. Overall, the waiter was amazing, the drinks were good, and it's a great experience to have if you're ever in the Scottsdale area.

First off this is definitely a must try while in Scottsdale Arizona. I had booked this restaurant for the bride because of the high reviews and the amazing entertainment that was offered. The restaurants decor was beautiful. The aesthetics were calm and welcoming. I loved all of the trees that sat in the middle. I ordered a mocktail, which was amazing. All of my friends ordered drinks and they were delectable. I tried a couple of them. We ordered appetizers from the guacamole that had pomegranate seeds and sunflower seeds. Inside of it was so good. To the plantain chips to the ceviche it was so fresh. Then we ordered our entrées, which were so amazing. Everything came out fresh and hot. Definitely make sure you bring your money when you come here. It's very expensive but worth it if you want a fancy restaurant. We did not try any of the desserts, unfortunately but we did see other people ordering the desserts and looked so good. There was a beautiful woman who is doing a fire show for us and she definitely caught the crowds attention in our attention. I would definitely come back. This place is 10 stars.

The place is exclusive and it is instagram picture ready. The service was great and the people are kind. The main reason to go there is to have a good time and enjoy the food. When we got there they took us by the bar and I must say their drinks are good and very eye pleasing. However the inside was very hot and all of out people were sweating and several other people kept fanning themselves with whatever they could. It was not a great experience, made it uncomfortable and hard to relax. As per the food it was definitely very OK. Nothing super tasty or extremely good. The one that I would recomend would be the queso fundido. It is a good place to have a drink, and a happy hour apatizer, but I would not go there just for the food

It was very clean and the bartender Adrian was very helpful and knowledgeable, I had the all pastor tacos and a pineapple margarita , very delicious and very clean environment. Friendly staff and the bar had tv's to catch your fave sport . Check it out .

Amazing ambiance with even better service. I will say this place is on the higher end of everything, but the quality is definitely worth it. The food tasted great, but the portion sizes are on the smaller size. I ordered the burger and received what seemed to be a slider.

Wow and WOW! What an experience! Yes, you are going to spend ALOT of money here but the food was so amazing as well as the service... and do not get me started on the decor! This is an experience you will not forget or regret! I treated my daughter's bachelorette group here and we all could not rave enough about our food! From the chips and salsa...to the guacamole....to the taco flights we all were incredibly happy. The sea bass tacos were everyone's favorite taco. I ordered the short rib enchiladas and could not believe how happy my taste buds were. The meat was so flavorful with the chilis I could not get enough. Sooo amazing! Yes...be prepared for sticker shock but everyone in our party of 7 was incredibly happy.

    Grace K.

The food was good not spectacular. Pricey but you're paying for the ambiance and the experience. The tacos were good but not for the price. 4 tacos for $40 and that's all you got. No rice or beans, that's extra. I'm more practical, but the aesthetics was beautiful if that's your thing. My thing is food and drinks that is reasonable.

    Fire Dancer
    Ryan B.

As soon as you enter you're blown away by the production. It looks like you're in the jungle with cool upbeat music but without being too overpowering. A woman was doing the coolest fire dancing I've ever seen with someone else doing live guitar solos. The food was all amazing and so much of it was very truffle forward. The taco flight was excellent and this was definitely the best guacamole I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Hoping to make another trip back one day soon

À la carte tacos we got a little bit of everything
    Lilly C.

We went for my birthday this year. Such a cool place. We got a few of every taco they had. Drinks were great if a little slow. Food was delicious. The dancers were so fun to watch. Definitely crowded and we did get squeezed into a small table even with a reservation. But definitely popular for a reason.

Toca Madera is definitely all about the ambiance, and that's really what you're paying for. The fire dancers were the highlight of the evening and put on a great show. Our server was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype or the price tag. The tacos were honestly laughable at $44, with portions that felt very small for what you're paying. The rice was undercooked, which was disappointing, and overall the food quality didn't justify the cost. The seating arrangements were also uncomfortable, and the music was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation and enjoy the company of the people at your table. While the atmosphere was entertaining, the overall dining experience fell short. I wouldn't return.

Toca Madera Scottsdale Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Toca Madera Scottsdale

It appears that reservations on OpenTable on blocked off between 6-9PM on Sundays. What is the reason? How could I get a 7PM reservation?

Please visit https://tocamadera.com/reservations to make a dining reservation with us. We look forward to hosting you soon.

What days/ times do they have the fire show?

Our restaurant offers live music and entertainment daily during brunch and dinner services.

Is there a DJ during Sunday brunch?

The Sunday we went there was a DJ if I recall.

Are they still open? Website is down. No answer at the phone.

Toca Madera is very much open and the website is working! https://tocamadera.com/

What time is the latest fire show performance?

Do you accept walk ups, and how long is normally the wait?

Hi Rich, Yes, we do accept walk-ins, however we cannot guarantee a wait time frame as the restaurant is popular and does get very busy!

I have two friends visiting from out of town and they don't arrive in phoenix until 10pm, so I made a reservation for 11:15pm. Do they still serve their full menu this late or is their kitchen limited?

I believe they serve full menu until midnight

Do you guys have air conditioning ? I keep seeing reviews saying there isn't a working AC

    There was air conditioning

The website says no shorts. Is that enforced when it's 100+ outside?

I would call them. However it is an upscale place so can understand their policy. I wore long pants…

    Can men wear jeans?

Yes men can wear jeans. I've worn jeans every time I've gone there.

What is the difference in "lounge" and "dining" for reservations? There will be a party of 4.

Lounge is the bar area and the other is the dining room. I prefer the lounge since it is a bit louder with more vibe. Choose the dining room if you want a bit more privacy/quiet. Not all seats in the lounge are at the bar top, simply tables around…

    What time is happy hour?

HI, Our Happy Hour is from 4pm to 6pm from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 3:30…

    What time the kitchen closes?

You may want to contact the establishment and ask them.

Can I bring my kids to eat here?

Yes, but everything is fancy. No kids menu. So if you don't mind spending $15 for two creative tacos for the kiddos personally better to enjoy it yourself with your spouse or partner.

How much would I spend for 2 people?

    I spent 140$ total

Do they have live entertainment on Monday nights? If so, is the lounge or dining room better?

Never been here before but heard good things. Was thinking of taking my elderly parents here for lunch, but read that music is pretty loud and the vibe is more of a club. Would this be an appropriate place to take them?

I don't think elderly people would like it here, it's very loud and you might struggle with conversation

What time does the music start? Would be coming for my 60th bday dinner on a Wed night. Should I not bring a 12-yr old?

Meh I would probably leave the child at home.

Do they have celiac friendly options?

No more than most Mexican restaurants, but many of the food options don't have gluten. I got the carne asada and prawns with corn tortillas the last time I was there.

What we didn't realize at the time was that we had stumbled upon one of those dishes that would stick with us! So when Liquor Pig closed, we were genuinely sad to see it go, but then delighted to learn that the same chef was spearheading Wayward and, most importantly, that the legendary bone marrow poutine made its way onto the new menu. And thankfully, it's still just as memorable! The bone marrow is incredibly luscious, rich, and decadent, and the whole dish is the perfect indulgent pairing for Wayward's creative cocktails. The portion is also a great size for two people to share, especially since it's definitely a rich dish. We also tried the Jaew Chicken which was tasty and definitely a little different from what I'd normally order. It was a nice addition to the meal, but honestly, the poutine is the reason we'll keep coming back to this place! While walking through the restaurant, I noticed quite a few tables enjoying the bone in short rib taco board and those portions are serious. That platter could easily feed four people, so it's definitely something to keep in mind if you're dining with a group. All in all, I'm happy that Wayward has kept one of my favorite dishes from the Liquor Pig days alive. If you're looking for creative cocktails with something rich and indulgent to snack on, do yourself a favor and order the bone marrow poutine!

Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. Overall it was a fun experience Some tips: If your stones seem to be getting stuck down the lane, ask the attendant to move you to another lane. That's what we did and it made all the difference Explore the rest of bustling Old Town Scottsdale. There's literally something for everyone, and definitely check out the Frybread Lounge for some great Native American fusion cuisine Chee

It feels brand new and the staff is super kind and friendly. - Super cute venue and I love the decor and the AI generated duck photos on the walls, LOL! - Expected board games with the name, but was pleasantly surprised to find miniature versions of bowling, axe throwing and curling! - This spot is perfect for company get-together's, which is what I was there for, birthday parties or just a low-key hang out with friends. Highly recommend checking out House Rules, especially with our summers being so hot. This is a great indoor activity. My birthday is coming up in August and even thinking of throwing a small birthday thing here with friends/family!

He knew the menu inside and out and we also took most of his recommendations. We chose food first, then talked to the Som who was professional and awesome as well. First time here and thought oh no this is in the W where Sushi Roku used to be, let's see how it is. And it didn't disappoint. We started off with the meatballs. The sauce was fantastic not too salty and not too sweet it was great. The beef carpaccio was also amazing. Not a huge fan of the mushrooms but they were good and the shaved parm and toasted pine nuts were a great added touch. We ordered a bunch of stuff and shared. The chicken parm yes was awesome. Filling! It is their staple and it should be ordered. $68 for it was a little high IMO for chicken, but it was a double breasted. We got two pastas the lobster fettuccine and the Vodka pasta. Both were great you can see the pics. I personally loved the Vodka pasta mixed in with the burrata. The place was remolded nicely. We sat toward the back but go the whole view of the restaurant. It was decorated nice and they had their theme and it works. The bar looked cool. They had the drink cart guy and he seemed to be making people happy and they were all recording him. Overall I'd be back it was fantastic.
