Toca Madera is definitely all about the ambiance, and that's really what you're paying for. The fire dancers were the highlight of the evening and put on a great show. Our server was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype or the price tag. The tacos were honestly laughable at $44, with portions that felt very small for what you're paying. The rice was undercooked, which was disappointing, and overall the food quality didn't justify the cost. The seating arrangements were also uncomfortable, and the music was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation and enjoy the company of the people at your table. While the atmosphere was entertaining, the overall dining experience fell short. I wouldn't return.

Literally let them eat cake ... LITERALLY these tacos are PATHETIC!!!!! I'm extremely upset with this place I don't even feel comfortable posting the appetizer they gave me that was NANO SIZED LMFAO

Amazing ambiance with even better service. I will say this place is on the higher end of everything, but the quality is definitely worth it. The food tasted great, but the portion sizes are on the smaller size. I ordered the burger and received what seemed to be a slider.

The food was good not spectacular. Pricey but you're paying for the ambiance and the experience. The tacos were good but not for the price. 4 tacos for $40 and that's all you got. No rice or beans, that's extra. I'm more practical, but the aesthetics was beautiful if that's your thing. My thing is food and drinks that is reasonable.

Wow and WOW! What an experience! Yes, you are going to spend ALOT of money here but the food was so amazing as well as the service... and do not get me started on the decor! This is an experience you will not forget or regret! I treated my daughter's bachelorette group here and we all could not rave enough about our food! From the chips and salsa...to the guacamole....to the taco flights we all were incredibly happy. The sea bass tacos were everyone's favorite taco. I ordered the short rib enchiladas and could not believe how happy my taste buds were. The meat was so flavorful with the chilis I could not get enough. Sooo amazing! Yes...be prepared for sticker shock but everyone in our party of 7 was incredibly happy.

As soon as you enter you're blown away by the production. It looks like you're in the jungle with cool upbeat music but without being too overpowering. A woman was doing the coolest fire dancing I've ever seen with someone else doing live guitar solos. The food was all amazing and so much of it was very truffle forward. The taco flight was excellent and this was definitely the best guacamole I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Hoping to make another trip back one day soon

I've been to Toca Madera multiple times, and I personally don't usually feel that the food is worth the price. This visit was for brunch, which starts with cornbread and butter when you're seated. I didn't love it, as it had whole corn kernels baked into it. I know some people enjoy that style, but it wasn't my preference. I ordered the sashimi next, which was one of the best dishes of the meal and truly melted in my mouth. I also tried the wagyu wonton tacos. I didn't find them particularly special, though my friend enjoyed them a lot. The Mexican chop salad with salmon was one of the best salads I've had by far, but the salmon itself was a bit dry. Lastly, I ordered the street tacos. The carne asada was very good, while the sea bass was just okay. Service was excellent. Our server frequently checked on us, helped explain menu items, and the bussers were constantly refilling our water. The ambiance is fun and lively, with lots of windows and natural light. However, the music is always very loud, which is usually why I don't go often. It can be hard to hear conversations. Overall, the food is decent, but I don't always think it's worth the price

Guys, this place is for the vibes and experience, not life changing food. We went for a bachelorette party and it was perfect for the experience! The music was bumpin' (I think there was a DJ) and a fire dancer? The ambiance was immaculate and perfect for a bachelorette dinner. Moody lighting, chic interior decor, service was wonderful. The food was good, but nothing to write home about and obviously very expensive. This is getting high marks from me for the sheer reason that the vibes of the place were so fun and entertaining and the service was really good.

I've been to Toca Madera a couple times and always had a great experience. The decor is beautiful and the service is attentive. Drinks are good and strong. Love the food--the seafood tower, Toca Caesar and Wagyu options are some of my faves. Prices are high, so I usually only come for special occasions, but I'm always happy to visit.

We are in town from California and came here for a fun local experience. They did not disappoint. Our drinks were unique and fun, the food was phenomenal, the service was friendly and genuine and we even got some entertainment. I know bit every review was good, but we had the best times We will definitely come back the next time we are in town! Highly recommend.

Toca Madera is unlike any restaurant I've been to -- fire performances, a live DJ, stunning ambiance. It genuinely feels like a Las Vegas Strip experience right in Scottsdale. The A5 Wagyu tacos ($37 for two) absolutely lived up to the hype -- smoky, perfectly layered, and worth every penny. The 18 oz ribeye was incredible and the Mexican street corn is a must-order side. Skip the branzino and just go for the steak! A few things fell short though -- we called multiple times about the fire show schedule and kept going to voicemail, water refills were nonexistent all night, and our leftovers came out in a plain box with no bag. Small details, but noticeable at this price point. Pro tip: book ahead, dress code IS enforced, and catch the fire show starting at 7 PM! Overall a great experience and we'll definitely be back.

    Enchiladas. So tasty.

The food was fantastic. We had enchiladas, salmon and chicken and they were excellent. The portions were large. The wines were great, too. The service was great. The waiter was informative and attentive. The ambiance appeals to younger people and being older, it didn't appeal to us. Not the fault of the restaurant; it pitches to the young, hip crowd. We didn't realize that. For us, it was like eating in a disco and at our age, it didn't resonate at all. Too loud. I recommend Toca Madura for adults under 50 but not for anyone older.

This place is not just dinner, it's an experience. We came here for my last nights bachelorette dinner. We did have to wait a bit for a table even with a reservation but this wasn't a concern for our group. When we were seated, they gave us complimentary flaming shots. We got guac for the table which was delicious. I split the ceviche and the branzino with one of the girls along with a side of the street corn. All of it was incredible. I tasted a few different drinks as well, some suggested by the waiter. I'm a huge fan of mezcal so he suggested the Guilty Pleasure which was my favorite of the drinks I had. They even had a fire dancer during our dinner for a little show. Overall we had a great time!

It appears that reservations on OpenTable on blocked off between 6-9PM on Sundays. What is the reason? How could I get a 7PM reservation?

Please visit https://tocamadera.com/reservations to make a dining reservation with us. We look forward to hosting you soon.

What days/ times do they have the fire show?

Our restaurant offers live music and entertainment daily during brunch and dinner services.

Is there a DJ during Sunday brunch?

The Sunday we went there was a DJ if I recall.

Are they still open? Website is down. No answer at the phone.

Toca Madera is very much open and the website is working! https://tocamadera.com/

What time is the latest fire show performance?

Do you accept walk ups, and how long is normally the wait?

Hi Rich, Yes, we do accept walk-ins, however we cannot guarantee a wait time frame as the restaurant is popular and does get very busy!

I have two friends visiting from out of town and they don't arrive in phoenix until 10pm, so I made a reservation for 11:15pm. Do they still serve their full menu this late or is their kitchen limited?

I believe they serve full menu until midnight

Do you guys have air conditioning ? I keep seeing reviews saying there isn't a working AC

    There was air conditioning

The website says no shorts. Is that enforced when it's 100+ outside?

I would call them. However it is an upscale place so can understand their policy. I wore long pants… Read more

    Can men wear jeans?

Yes men can wear jeans. I've worn jeans every time I've gone there.

What is the difference in "lounge" and "dining" for reservations? There will be a party of 4.

Lounge is the bar area and the other is the dining room. I prefer the lounge since it is a bit louder with more vibe. Choose the dining room if you want a bit more privacy/quiet. Not all seats in the lounge are at the bar top, simply tables around… Read more

    What time is happy hour?

HI, Our Happy Hour is from 4pm to 6pm from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 3:30… Read more

    What time the kitchen closes?

You may want to contact the establishment and ask them.

Can I bring my kids to eat here?

Yes, but everything is fancy. No kids menu. So if you don't mind spending $15 for two creative tacos for the kiddos personally better to enjoy it yourself with your spouse or partner.

How much would I spend for 2 people?

    I spent 140$ total

Do they have live entertainment on Monday nights? If so, is the lounge or dining room better?

Never been here before but heard good things. Was thinking of taking my elderly parents here for lunch, but read that music is pretty loud and the vibe is more of a club. Would this be an appropriate place to take them?

I don't think elderly people would like it here, it's very loud and you might struggle with conversation

What time does the music start? Would be coming for my 60th bday dinner on a Wed night. Should I not bring a 12-yr old?

Meh I would probably leave the child at home.

Do they have celiac friendly options?

No more than most Mexican restaurants, but many of the food options don't have gluten. I got the carne asada and prawns with corn tortillas the last time I was there.

The restaurant is trendy, stylish, and undeniably cute. I especially got a kick out of the little lamps on the tables that turn red when you want a tableside martini. We aren't drinkers, but I thought it was a fun and clever touch. One thing that surprised me right away was that bread wasn't included. Instead, we were served some crunchy snacks to munch on. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I'd much rather have warm bread. It feels simpler, tastier, and more welcoming. For appetizers, we ordered the burrata and calamari. Both were tasty, but the peppers in the calamari packed a serious punch. I wish there had been a little warning about the spice level because it definitely caught me off guard. Then again, I suppose anything called "Sexy Roman" has to bring a little heat. For dinner, we shared the chicken parm and the lobster pasta. The chicken parm was decent, though I found the chicken a bit tough. The lobster pasta was flavorful and well prepared, but once again, quite spicy. At least that time we knew what we were getting into. Service was fine, but not exceptional. I was inhaling water to cool down from all the spice and had to ask for refills multiple times, which felt like an easy thing to stay ahead of. In the end, there wasn't anything terrible about the experience. The food was good, the atmosphere was fun, and the concept is unique. But between the high prices, smaller portions, and service that didn't quite match the upscale vibe, I don't think we'll be rushing back.
